I was happy to discover that this location wasn't far from me. I mean, I do have one less than a half mile from my place, but it's not always convenient to go there. This one, however, seems to be a bit more convenient with the other stores around it. I came here after making a few other stops and ran in to find a few items that I had on my list. It wasn't easy finding them right off the bat as this was a new store to me, but I soon found my way around once I opened up the app. Once I had the app up and going I was able to find the items I needed. I stood there for a minute to look the items over to compare until I was able to make my decision. With my items in hand, I made my way to the front and used the self checkout to make a quick exit. With items in hand I was happy to find this location as it made it easier for me that day. read more

As a former employee 11 months ago, I quit due to management being completely unorganized and inconsiderate. The last thing they care about is the well-being of their workers now recently I came in as a customer and I spent five hours simply trying to locate a toilet they said was available in store on their website. I could not get a hold of anyone who is able to find this toilet and when I requested management, nobody came for two hours they kept claiming the manager was in a meeting, but because I am a former employee, I recognized the manager that I needed for this situation and they were simply walking around. They have lazy management and disrespectful workers due to horrible management. I would suggest absolutely any other location except this one unless your entire day is free. read more

Overall not bad I went to the store to urgently exchange a product I purchased online, ensuring a smooth transaction by calling ahead of time. I was told to "just bring it in." Upon arriving at the store, I waited for a few minutes, even though no one was in the return line. The woman at the counter seemed pleasant enough and began the transaction after asking for my receipt. After about ten minutes, she happily informed me that I couldn't return the product because the time frame had passed, which was not true. I explained that this wasn't the case, and she continued to glare at the screen for several more minutes. Long story short, this woman seemed to take pleasure in explaining that she couldn't complete the transaction, rather than try to find a way to help me. Her face was straight and expressionless when I had everything I needed, again, I called ahead. However, when unable to help, she smirked. That seems backward. I expect a more helpful attitude when spending my hard-earned money. She was also contradictory and not well trained. In the end, I asked to speak with management, and the manager was finally able to assist me. He was pleasant and stern, but he explained things in a way that showed he cared. I remember a time when stores trained their staff to show are and concernfor the customers keeping them in business. On a separate note, there were two nice young ladies at the checkout who helped answeru questions when I asked. And a young man in the back (I had to hunt him down as there were few workers available) who helpful me find a lightbulb. This Home Depot (on Broadbirch Dr) is consistently dishonest in how they treat BOPIS (buy-online-pick-up-in-store) orders. I order many, many products online for in-store pickup to minimize time spent inside the store. However, on two occasions now over the past few months, I was delayed in picking up an order and missed the window. Instead of processing the order as a return, they process it as picked up to generate a sale, the charge on my credit card remains, and the products not picked up get reintroduced into their inventory. On both occasions, I had to call in for them to manually process a refund. If you don't call you get billed for items not picked up. They also processed it as "picked up" a full day before the window closed, and a live person called/left a voicemail asking for feedback on how my pickup order was. It's not an across-the-board behavior. The College Park Home Depot, in contrast, does not engage in this practice. They send reminder emails on picking up my order and then if not picked up within the designated window, they cancel and refund orders. Moral of the story is to pick up all orders immediately or not order for in-store pickup at this location. read more

I try to avoid this store like The Plague. I have never met more incompetent people with attitudes in one place ever. So, I came in today looking for a impact tool. They are pretty pricey so I wanted some help and take my time and not just grab anything. I could not find anyone in tools so I asked another person with an orange smock for help. She told me to find the person making keys. I told her that she was very busy and she shrugged her shoulders. Finally I found a guy with keys, i asked him to show me a particular impact tool which was $300, i asked him if it came with a battery and he laughed and said, "no." This is an okay location, provided you absolutely never need to interact with staff in any capacity whatsoever. They're almost universally awful, if you can even find one (excepting the incredibly aggressive solar panel, window, or gutter salesperson, who will chase you around the store, interrupting you every two minutes while breathing down your face). Self checkout is a godsend here, because the cashiers simply don't know for to use their systems. Every time I've gone through a human cashier, it's been a headache. My card today had a chip read error. No big, you just swipe it. Right? Nah. The cashier snatched it from me, and tried inserting it himself 7 times, while the screen displays "swipe card." SURPRISE, it wouldn't work. Finally, he gave up, and told me to go to another register. Yea, I really want to spend 20 more minutes in line, thanks, no thanks, outta here. And, please, for crying out loud, can someone organise and inventory your plumbing section? Common parts are just AWOL, even when the systems say they're in stock.... I paid to have a new garage door opener installed and noticed that the technician did haul the old equipment away which was #1 in the service agreement to haul away the old equipment . I have called multiple times spoke to Wenest who opened a ticket for someone to pick the old unit up . They never came and the ticket was closed called again left on hold and I was hung up on . They have no problem taking your money rt and not fulfilling their contract. read more

I find it shocking that anyone is willing to do business with Home Depot. I have standards, they aren't even that high but I do have some self respect to. So I've paid about $100 for floor samples and a floor installation measurement appointment to get an estimate. Yes, Home Depot charges for estimate. Friend Joe the measurements guy came, measured and said I'd receive email with estimate in couple of days. I had already talked to Home Depot and given them my floor selection. Received an automated call asking if I want to proceed with estimate, said yes and was connected to someone who said they couldn't help me. I'd have to talk to store, even though everything had been done online. So sat on hold for very long time 3x to eventually talked to Tom who at first said the notes indicated they were unable to come to my house to measure. What? I said we need to call the police because somebody was in my house impersonating a Home Depot employee. Tom says he was mistaken - the issue they are unable to proceed. What? Why? Tom says he doesn't know that's just what it says and Tom is completely satisfied with that. I rarely ever do business at Home Depot because it is a nightmare of a business. I took half a day off of work to accommodate this measurement. This experience is very costly and now I have to start all over with someone else. Do business with Home Depot at your peril. read more

Tried to do a warranty swap with a Husky Flashlight "Lifetime". Took it to store, customer service person said needed manager. Waited 10 mins for manager to come, she was nice but in that the flashlight had been discontinued so she could not find the value (even though they are still listed on amazon.. BTW Husky id Home Depot brand). I suggested they swap with current model and they told me I had to call the HD customer care center. By now we were at 45 mins. Also the Husky/Home depot web site said just take it to any HD and they will replace I went home call the number, they said send us a pic of it, found it and sent me an online gift card for $50 to use to replace it. Not all Home Depots are the same and this is has to be one of the better ones in the area. We were moving so we rented a Penske truck, a tow behind for a car, and purchased base paint and boxes. The guy helping us with the Penske trucks was more than helpful. We took the truck home to load it and then came the next day to get the hitch put on. We didn't feel comfortable putting the hitch on ourself so the Home Depot man helped us. I didn't use all the boxes so I was able to return them. I had a receipt so the return was really easy. When purchasing items, I kept getting lost and all of the employees went out of their way to help me, they put down what they were doing to walk me over to the aisle and bay I needed. This honestly was the best experience I've ever had at Home Depot, they exceeded all of my expectations. I would recommend this location versus the locations in DC proper because those just suck. read more

WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE! I don't even know why I go to this store at all. Went there yesterday to purchase a dealt miter saw and stand that they have on sale on their own website ($499 plus a dewalt stand combo). Couldn't get anyone to help out and then had to get a manager as the associate stated that sale doesn't start till Black Friday but they literally have it on their website. Finally after an hour and half, met with Donovan who is the store manager and when they couldn't figure out what to do, he tells me that it's online only. I have purchased enough stuff from Home Depot to know when it is online only it will have a label. I asked Donovan to show me on the listing where it states that it's online only and he couldn't and said "he knows" that's it online only. Then I showed him the same listing at Lowe's and that I could drive to Laurel and pick it up and he stated that they're not going to pricematch for whatever reason and asked me to goto Lowe's. I am really not sure how these guys are in retail and customer service to begin with. While all this is going on, some supervisor from the self check out chimed in, she was super condescending and told me that sale is for when you use a Home Depot credit card (super confused, one supervisor says online then the other says credit card only). After I asked her to show me where it states that, she got upset and started yelling saying that she is trying to help me out. I never had one good experience at this store, this has to be the worst Home Depot, these people don't even care about customer service from the store manager all the way down. No one acknowledges you, and when you ask for help all they give is an attitude. I said heck with it and drove to Lowe's, I was in and out with the same item in less than 10 minutes. Walked up to an associate at Lowe's and asked him where this item was, he helped me grab a flatbed cart, walked me over to the isle and then to the cashier all in less then 10 minutes. Ordered a washer and dryer in May during the week of Memorial Day. The Home Depot installers came but the dryer was damaged. The Home Depot installer claimed he would come back tomorrow. They left the washer in our living room. The next day came, no one came or called. We called and they said we would have to wait for 10 days so went to the store and were disappointed. We got a call the next day and someone was able to get it to us in 7 days instead of 10. The 7th day came (yesterday) the Home Depot installer came acting confused as if he didn't know that he was supposed to install the washer. He came up stairs making excuses & looking for reasons not to install. He measured and lied about the measurements. He refused to remove the existing unit even though we paid for that service. He then said we needed a plumber to put a catch pan under the machine but wouldn't remove the machine. At that point I wanted him out of my home & never return to my home. Later on in the evening we went to the store & asked for a manager, they sent me a coach who wasn't able to help, she listened and walked us to the appliance section. We sat with the appliance people and they wasted our time. I got frustrated and demanded to speak to a manager. Finally an actual manager who could fix things showed up. At that point we were completely done with Home Depot. We canceled our $2,000 order & made a promise to never do business with Home Depot installation & appliances again. They've lost our trust and I don't want these people in my home. I worked for the Home Depot a few times so I understand the disconnect between customer service and installation. I would like to speak with the installation department directly. They're horrible. It's been a month and we still don't have a washer and dryer. We missed Memorial Day sales at Best Buy, Costco & Lowe's now the machines are up to $600 more than they were at the time of the sales read more

I don't really like walking the aisles of Home Depot. The signs are too high up for me to see and when I want something it always seems to be located on the far side of the store. There is usually someone to be found to point you in the right direction and when you buy a 20 pound bag of fertilizer they are more than helpful at loading it into your car for you. Today I didn't even step foot in the store. Mission: deck beautification. After one hour of sweating with the gladiolas (not the oldies) I was putting $40 worth of red and yellow flowers in my trunk. I never knew there were yellow petunias to be had! Their prices are good, great actually. Most of the annuals I bought were small pots for $0.99 each. They do buy many of their flowers from local greeneries and it is those people who are out there watering their selections, not HD employees. I kinda feel sorry for the many neglected flowers that are stuck in the middle of the large metal shelves with no water or sunlight to be had. Just awful Home depot (#1551) at 2300 Broadbirch Road, Silver Spring, MD. As with many people of a certain age, I needed to use the restroom when I was shopping. The Men's room was dark because only one out of four lights was lit (hmmm I wonder where they could get replacement lightbulbs???). Worst, there was human excrement (feces, shXt, caca, number two, and not just a little bit in one place) on the toilet seat. A pungent liquid (piss) was running in from the adjoining toilet stall. Upon exiting, I encountered no fewer than five Home Depot employees hanging out and whooping and laughing together (this is the back of the store so maybe they were trying to hide from managers and customers). I mentioned to the assembled group that the bathroom "needed cleaning and the lights were broken." As one, they shrugged and looked at each other with a slight smile, and continued with their banter without speaking to me or acknowledging me. Not only is a filthy bathroom repellent to paying customers, but employees do not deserve to work under such conditions. Clearly, a more effective store manager would empower their workers to take action to fix extreme problems like this, and would respect the workers and customers enough to ensure the bathroom was cleaned or inspected hourly. On a good note, I found another group of home Depot workers hanging out and one of them immediately acknowledged me and knew exactly what I needed and where it was located and cheerfully offered to guide me there. I wish I could remember his name (young 21?) cheerful, energetic hispanic 5'5" guy with great curly hair), as he deserve a promotions and raise because he is definitely providing more value added to the store and its customers. read more

I like this location because it has roomy parking, there is a halal truck outside, its a clean store with all you may need and the staff is caring. The staff gives you a sense of a positive work environment they enjoy. That is always a plus. Quickly got what we needed, and checkout. They have military discount. read more

I really like this Home Depot. It's kind of hidden back off a side road so I always have to watch for the sign, barely visible from the Eastern entrance. The selection is good and the employees are so pleasant and helpful. I first started going there regularly when I was renovating a bathroom and the gentleman in the tile section was really helpful. He pointed me in the right direction after I picked a floor tile that would be too slick when wet to one that would work better with more texture. The "slick" tile ended up being the wall tile. The last two years I've gone to the garden center for my annuals. Always a large selection, plenty of bright colored plants, and lots of employees to offer help. As another reviewer pointed out, the plants generally come from local growers who are also available for advice. Plus they are always so nice, offering greetings and smiles. I've had good luck with the plants, a few misses, but mainly because I've put "needs sun" plants in semi-shade. My duh. But the plants are reasonable enough That when I send a poor plant into the compost pile I just go back for more. read more

The parking lot is crazy and needs a cowboy to wrangle wild shopping carts and flat carts. Inside it isn't much better. Every aisle is a crowd, with the exception of the many closed aisles as the warehouse team works above. The staff is helpful in directing you to the right stuff, but the register staff is slow. Perhaps I am late to the party, but I did not realize Home Depot could color match paint. I purchased a very specific blue cabinet door sample and was trying to find the exact blue via the paper samples in the store. I bought one paint sample and disliked the blue very much. I came back in and Ibrahim, the gentleman in paint, was amazing and told me he could find the exact match just by using the cabinet door sample. Low and behold, he customized an exact match color!! I could not be more excited or more grateful. I am so happy that Ibrahim was patient with me and worked hard to find the exact color and provide additional important info about the paint and amount of coats needed, etc. I will definitely use their service again! read more

Not a bad place to get everything you need for your home projects. A lot going on here just like other Home Depots that I have been to so don't expect someone to come over and ask if they can help. The odds on that are 50:1. If you need assistance with anything then go straight to customer service and ask for someone to assist you. I, on the other hand am a DIY'er so I usually know what I want or need for a specific project. Now on another note I will say that I visited the Paint department and needed a specific color for my basement. I waited about 10 minutes and had someone assist me. The paint was perfect and I really appreciated the service I got on that specific day and time. The reason I say it like that is because with Home Depot every day is different. Some days you will get good customer service and on some days you will get poor customer service. That is just the way it is with Home Depot. read more

Never expect ANY real help at a big box store and it sucks when you have to depend on them for special orders. This Silver Spring location has taken incompetence and indifference to a whole never level. Despite accurately providing the requirements/measurements, the kitchen cabinet department could not order a oven cabinet correctly costing me almost 3 months without an oven during COVID-19 and over $1000 in added cost due to delays. And the store never asked a single question about how my family was managing given their direct action caused issues for me an my family during this pandemic. Management did however give me half of that back and I truly love paying over $2000 for a $1400 cabinet...a reverse sale, thanks Home Depot. Unfortunately, we all know that big box stores rule our retail world but, occasionally, something comes along that takes out a big box store.
