This was an all around bad experience. The job was to replace damaged or dried out and curled cedar shingle siding where needed, then 2 coats of primer and finally a coat of paint. The bid by their salesman Matt was completely deficient, by design seemingly. It reeked of a "get the job, and then start tacking on costs once work has commenced" trick. The tack on costs were expensive and in plain sight at the time of the bid, not "discovery damage" after tear off began. I paid them out for part of the job, and told them to take a hike. To add to the frustration, I booked this job 6 weeks out with a specific start date for reasons involving a tenant and was assured that with that much notice they could accomodate me. As the date approached, I heard nothing. I had to call them to find out that they were delayed on the start date....no courtesy notice. The first day was supposed to start by a foreman showing up and going over the entire job with me. That never happened. Just some workers who didn't speak much English showed up and started working. The owner Jared was really not interested in finding middle ground. If you hire this company, get ready for a lot of unpleasant surprises. To be fair, the ONE thing I will say that is not negative was the quality of the work by the guys installing the shingles. They did nice work. Too bad the rest of the job was so botched. read more

Owner of home in Laguna Niguel that needed some Stucco repair and new coat of paint after 13 years living at house and it being built in 1986. They were extremely professional from quote, to emails, to communication and response time and should be considered for your Stucco and Painting of exterior house and walls. Pros: 1) Solicited multiple quotes and this one came in best price that was licensed to do the job. 2) Fixed wood facia and discussed any other issues after the power wash that as an owner of the house made me feel good to review. 3) I did not know until in the process but they also sealed between the stucco and the wood all around the house. That was a bonus I didn't even know they were going to do that. 4) 2 story home over a vacation period wrapped it all done within 1 week. 5) Spot checks with me and further review by myself the work was fantastic and all plants survived that were near the house as they took care not to damage all the foliage. Paint behind tough areas were also checked and done right with no spots left untouched. Cons, only one really and it is somewhat personal for me. The process is somewhat dirty so if there is a fault it's the trash that gets around while doing the job but they cleaned up nicely when they were done with the job completely. Sanding and other small pieces I picked up but it was not terrible at all. I would wish that everyday they ended the site they took 20 minutes to clean up loose debris from our house. I will say in the end, the house is getting many compliments and there were no shortcuts taken. Price was considered and there were options to go with someone less expensive but that's when your gut has to guide you and we are very pleased with how from Quote to finish this project ended and would recommend Approved Contractor for Stucco and paint of their property. "Approximate start date: 6 to 8 weeks." Started at week 10 after signed contract date and already cashing first deposit. Waited the 8 weeks and then made 2 calls to get a start date. No initiative to make calls to us explaining why the delay. They did sent a $10 Starbucks card for our patience. First day of work - 2 workers showed up and had to use our ladders and brooms since they did not bring those items with them. No trash bins delivered so old siding was thrown to the side of our front yard. Call to Matt. Bins showed up the next day, were completely filled with previous day's work and remained on the street with workers continuing to add to the already filled bins as they spilled over until finally throwing remaining trash in our driveway. Text to Matt. Contract stated, "James Hardie flashing to be installed behind all seams." Flashing was not being installed behind seams as promised. My husband had made it perfectly clear that he did not want any unnecessary seams and knowing the lengths of the siding, he and the "foreman, Walter" agreed where seams would be necessary. Since foreman was not on site throughout any of the work, some boards had to be replaced as seams were not necessary. My husband agreed to pay for additional siding if they had not estimated correctly, but made it very clear that he would not have unnecessary seams. Even when making the mistake, still did not put flashing in. Text to Matt. Contract promised a "Foreman will be on job site for all days of insulation." Although my husband met with the gentleman who was suppose to be the "foreman" to go over things that were important to us, the "foreman" took notes, but never returned to site the again. We were finally told that he was "out of town and would be returning soon." Never saw him until work was completed. He came one morning to apply the "paintable caulking to areas where siding meets trim" as per contract after yet another text to Matt to explain that no caulking had been done on any part of the house. Even then, "foreman" came one Saturday morning that we were not home; failed to do all the caulking that he had promised. My husband in complete frustration finished the job since he could no longer stand to work with this company. Positive Moments Matt Loomis was amazing in his position. He returned calls and texts promptly, worked very hard to rectify mistakes and understood the frustration that we were feeling. Matt informed us a few times that he would pass the information on to the owner. Never once did we hear from the owner, so Matt then had to make all arrangements and accept responsibility for the owner's lack of involvement. We honestly hope Matt is being well compensated as the owner had many chances to become involved in a situation that was going from disappointing and frustrating to completely out of compliance with the contract. Matt remained professional and committed to the project even when it was not his job. Workers did clean up as best as they could each day without having room in the bins and crew(mostly 1 or 2 workers constituted a crew?) did show up every day, including one Saturday. We sent in the final payment even though things were not completed; my husband finished what that the company did not. 3 days after the job was supposedly completed, my husband did get a call from Jared who wanted to know if the "clean-up was satisfactory" since he knew "there had been some problems along the way." When we finally did connect with Jared through email, his response was, "In hindsight I realize I should have called you and stopped all work until our foreman returned from El Salvador. It was a poor decision on my part to assume my crew would follow instructions without Walter present. " Our response was how could the crew follow instructions that were given to Walter and not to the men? Very sad that he had to blame the workers for his lack of investment in our property. Such a disappointment after reading such outstanding reviews. We tried to be fair, but just did not have the same quality of attention that Jared promises on his website. Jared had numerous times where he could have made a difference, yet chose to ignore the information presented to him by Matt. We did not give a rating of 1 as the siding does look nice, but only because my husband stayed on top of things each and every day. read more

I found ACI through an amazon local deal and to be honest, even with the discount, I was a little apprehensive about the price. But in the end, it was worth it. I had 4 windows and a sliding glass door replaced. My windows weren't upgraded since 1981, so anything would have been a step up, but the Anlin Monte Verde I got is like night and day. I am very happy with the replacement window installation. I appreciated the honest presentation of the products for sale just as I appreciated NOT being subjected to a dreadful sales pitch which included special offers that were only available if you handed over a sizable down payment in the next 5 minutes (see: every other contractor). Jared was very patient in answering my myriad questions and, I dare say, even INTERESTED in explaining the ordering, manufacturing, installation, and payment processes. I was able to get a weekend install scheduled, the crew showed up right on time, they were very respectful of the house, very clean, and very quick. My window replacements with Approved Contractors was an outstanding experience given that my work was delivered 6 months late and with several significant missed delivery dates. Problems are the given in life, it is how they are handled and resolved that matters. I have a home built in 1923 with original wooden french style windows throughout. Jared came to my home and clearly showed me the details in the design and workmanship of the window manufactures for Approved Contractors. He inspected the detail in the original frames and the trim for the new windows. He came up with a proposal that used two different manufacturers to get a "close to an original crafted window" look for my home. I placed the order with a 6 week wait to install. Shortly thereafter one of the manufacturers shut down some production facilities to make their production scheduling more efficient. It also extended delivery dates without consideration to delivery promises prior to the shut down. I had to stop construction 3 times because of the window delays. Jared did the best thing he could: he gave me timely updates about the situation. He had the windows installed from the other manufacture as soon as they were ready, as opposed to waiting for the entire order to be complete and then installed. When I had to leave town and my alarm system needed to be working, Jared paid for an interim solution to this problem. When it came time to settle up on the final payment, Jared offered an appropriate adjustment to my total. His adjustment was presented in a manner that was music to my 35 year CPA ears. Very professional at all stages of the process. He was realistic in setting expectations for retrofit windows. His workman, Lalo and crew, also were professional and respectful of their intrusion on someone's living space. They are craftsmen, they take pride in their work. Inspite of all the problems, there were never tense words between us. This is the first review I have ever written for anything I purchased in my 60 years. Oh and by the way....... Lalu the supervisor and lead window installer was very professional. He explained any questions I had patiently and politely to my satisfaction. He really put your mind at ease because he made me feel that he was confident to tackle any problems that may arise. I purchased 12 windows and one 4-panel slider door, and three windows were brought up to code. We settled on a decent price and I wish I could say the windows were installed shortly after, but it took about 2 1/2 months to schedule the installation date. Any problems that did arise was handled with integrity, such as once my old door was removed they found dry rotten wood that could cause problems later. Eventually the door was installed and I love my windows and door. I got the Anlin window and door. They look beautiful and almost worth the long wait. Jared is the owner who has a great group of guys working for him. Also Matt came out and explained everything I needed to k know about Warranty, cost for my project. I already knew about the Anlin window performance as I lived in Inglewood under the flight path and my apartment was retro fitted with this lovely product and it was like knight and day with sound quality or lack there of. I found Approved Contractors Inc since they were recommended by the James Hardie concrete siding manufacturer and we loved the neighbors James Hardie siding so much we wanted to get it too. Jared is so easy to work with. He is straight forward, and the job was done exactly as he said and on time. We had him install siding on the decorative face of our roof peaks. Jared came to the house with a batch of all the siding sample colors. We picked our favorite and he even had the James Hardie company send us a sample piece so we could use it to match the trim paint. When the siding shipment arrived his men came out and quickly installed. The job was clean and well done. I could see that all the proper underlay was added and James Hardie brand caulk and touch paint left over was given to me after I asked for it. The result is beautiful! Just finished a coating job. My stucco had a lot of patching as the house is over 40 years old. The workers patched seamlessly. Next day the primer coat, then a two day break and they showed up with the coating. They painted over a few over spray areas, wrapped up the job by back filling the trenching and cleaning up. Only one bundle of masking was left, but I won't let that bother me. read more

The good, the bad, the ugly The good, the sales guy Justin, showed up on time and walked through the project of having the house re-stuccoed, and painted. It was explained that it would be a six day project with 4 days for prep, and 2 days for paint. The sales guy took photos of the house for a before comparison. On day one, Monday, the team showed up on time and started immediately on trenching and prepping the house. They put in a full day, and said they would come back in two days after the patching had dried. Day two, Wednesday, a different team showed up, and didn't seem to know what to do. No one on the team spoke English very well, and it made communication very difficult. These guys looked like they came fresh from the Home Depot parking lot. The Santa Ana winds kicked up and the crew was unable to work (stucco spray was going everywhere but the house), so they packed up. Day three, Thursday, the winds had died down and the team from day one was back on the job. They re-stuccoed the entire house and worked until just before dark to finish the prep. Before they left the foreman said the stucco would need to dry for 24 hours before things could be painted. Day four, Saturday, the team showed up 30 minutes ahead of schedule (7:30am) and started painting. By 2pm the paint was complete, the house looked great. Total time for the project was six calendar days; two for actual prep and one for painting, two days for the surface to dry and one day lost due to high winds. The bad, during the initial meeting with it was understood that they would do before and after photos for their portfolio, it was also understood that they would place a sign in the front yard for the duration of the project showing who was doing the work. Lastly, it was understood that a 10% deposit would be paid up front then there would be two more payments one upon completion of a prep, and the last upon completion and final walk through. For the final walk through it was implied that the sales guy would be there to do the "after" photos and to arrange the final payment. I was fine with the original arrangements, but it didn't happen that way. A sign was never placed in the yard (actually not a big deal since it was their sales business that was being impacted). There were before photos taken, but no one ever showed up to do after photos. The sales guy never showed up to do a final walk through. Instead, a final walk through of sorts done by me, and the head painter. The painter had given me a survey sheet when they arrived on the final day. It asked questions about if the crew showed up on time, and how did I like the overall job, and would I recommend Approved Contractor. The final two payments were billed directly to my credit card that I used to pay the first 10%. No one contacted me to make sure that it was ok to do, or if that is how I wanted the payment to go. I was going to pay cash for the final two payments, but as a trade off at least I received some reward points from the credit card company. The ugly, the day after the job was completed; I was walking around checking things out, and noted was an urine odor in the backyard. By noon the urine smell was so bad that I started looking around to see where it was coming from. Ends up the painters were using the back side of the garden shed as a urinal. It was so disgusting, also noted there were empty tape rolls behind the shed as well. The latter made no sense because they were good about picking up/cleaning up as they went along. I hosed down the area to help eliminate the smell, but it took a few days for the smell to finally go away. In conclusion, Approved Contractor did the job they were hired to do, re-stucco, and paint the house. The house looks nice, and I have gotten good comments from the neighbors about how it looks. However, if I had to do again, I would make sure that an outhouse is delivered prior to the painters arriving. read more

Not the best experience but you get what you pay for. For the price I took the chance, Jared seemed nice enough. But after having to call in favors to have someone at my house, he cancelled on my window install less then an hour before it was supposed to start by email (didn't call untill about 20 minutes before). He was willing to work on the following Saturday but that ment I had to cancel helping a friend move. The install guys were nice but left a lot of glass after they broke the windows removing them. Again so far nice windows but overall you get what you pay for. Lastly dont waste your money on the g-240 argon for tinting you cant see a difference. I found Jared on Angie's List and, because of the great reviews, called him about replacing the windows in our 1950's home. He came out the next day and we sealed the deal. They only problem was that only one guy came to do all of the work. That said, he worked all day, with only one little break for lunch, and replaced all 7 windows and just did a marvelous job! Later, I had the front picture window and a sliding glass door replaced. This time two guys came out and, once again, were professional and did a great job. When we were selecting the Windows I was a little concerned because I'd never heard of Anlin Windows, but they are great! When they are closed you can really block out any noise, and they look great. I cannot recommend Approved Contractor more highly. I had very old windows and wasn't planning on replacing them but one fell apart and I had no choice.
