Let me preface this review by saying I am a homeowner builder type hobbiest. I have renovated 12 homes in the last 30 years primarily by me and licensed subs. I do NOT like paying a contractor overhead. I am a time and materials person. I like "control" over expenses. So for me to hire someone to install windows and doors, has never happend. But I had a unique problem area in my home, I decided to seek out a contractor. I have a large atrium type living room that gets very hot from direct sun exposure and whose large picture window/sliding windows and french doors, leak during every driving rain. I got a predictably high bid from a large - well known window replacement company. After hearing CDW's annoying ads for about a decade now on KNX-I decided to give them a try. I was so skeptical that CDW would be a better bid that I almost canceled. Glad I didn't. CDW sent a personable, low key-no pressure, knowledgable person. He did a great presentation on the values of upgrading in this particular case, AND the price was 1/3 less than the "other guy". From the signing of the contract, It took four weeks to manufacture product and set installation date. Installation was completed in one day with a team of three installers. They prepped by covering all interior/exterior furniture/ surfaces exposed to possible work dust. They were friendly, worked diligently and answered whatever questions I had without attitude or hesitation during the day. Their attention to detail in the finish/caulking was great. Looks perfect. All I can say is-I am super thrilled with the product, personel, and the installation. It looks beautiful. Huge upgrade for our primary living space. Could not be happier. First off the windows are very nice. We spent about $60k on windows and only one has failed. The downside is dealing with the warranty department. It's been a nightmare trying to get a window replaced. They rarely answer the phone. Rarely call you back. They will make an appointment and never show up. They will show up unannounced. They will leave a message hours before an appointment saying that you've been rescheduled for later in the week. WTF? This has been a terrible experience! read more

BUYER BEWARE: They love to sell you their products and claim to have the best lifetime warranty, blah blah blah. But when it comes time for SERVICING through their warranty, it's EMAIL ONLY. (It's been 15+ days and I still haven't had a person even bother to call and schedule a service!) Nobody will talk to you by phone. And then they give you the run-around telling you they are overbooked for service calls and that you have to just wait. And God help you if you do not agree to their $200 made-up service call fee, because they they definitely won't give a damn! If I knew I'd get screwed like this by this company, I would have paid more and gone with a company who actually stands behind their product. So when all else fails, threaten them and give them a deadline to repair their products under warranty within 30 days. If they do not do so, get it fixed by any other company and then take legal action and go after them for however much you paid out-of-pocket. Eventually they'll realize it's in their best interest to come out and keep their promise rather than cough up thousands of dollars for another company cleaning up their mess! Trust me, get a lawyer and get it done right...and DO NOT fall for their automatic responses by ownership about "oh call us and we'll make it right." It's all BS! read more

Thank you, CDW for telling me everything I needed to know about your company in a span of one hour. I'm replacing all of the windows in my Los Angeles home , and my sister is building a new home in Santa Monica. So we're in the market for windows. My general feeling about vinyl windows is that they're cheap and are mostly for people on a budget, but I decided that perhaps I was being hasty and it was worth a trip to the showroom to see for myself before I jump to any conclusions. Online their hours of their Chatsworth showroom are until 5 PM. I made the long drive there and arrived at 4:30 with plenty of time to look around the showroom before they closed. As I drove up, I thought that there must be a mistake. The location that I drove to looked abandoned. The parking lot was dirty, and there was garbage strewn about and not a single car in sight. Nowhere on any of the windows or doors which were heavily tinted with cheap Reflective material, did it say anything about the showroom hours or whether they were open or not. Sure enough, the doors were locked. I figured I must be at the warehouse and the showroom must be close to here in a different location, but I just got the wrong address. So I called them up and the customer service person who answered the phone did not know what the word "showroom" meant. Beyond that, she couldn't tell me where the showroom was once I explained to her what a showroom was. I asked her if she could put me on hold and ask someone, assuming that it must be her first day. She said that she was unable to do that but that if she if I gave her my name and email address, someone would respond to me within two days. Two days??? I'm in the bloody parking lot! So I hang up and call the toll-free number. Well, this goblin who answered the phone, I can only assume must be in like Lithuania or something, knew even less about the business than the first person did. The only thing she knew to say was that if I gave my name and email address someone would get back to me within two days. I don't know you can run a business like this. How can your customer service be so woefully inadequate? How is it that your staff are so poorly trained and know so little about the business? And why, when your hours are until five, is your showroom locked and closed before that time? Needless to say I won't be back. And by the way, you can always tell how much a business cares by the way they handle their reviews. Take notice that not one single review is replied to. Don't be fooled by their flashy website! Well first off I love our windows, the were installed on time the guys who came out were very professional BUT... now that the weather is nice and the snow is melting I'm outside working and noticing in the back yard nails and broken glass on the ground, normally I would just pick it up but it's in the back where my dogs go out they could of been injured. Not sure how to review this company. I had heard their advertisement for years on KNX AM 1070 radio. I called, and the salesperson who came out was great. Very professional and courteous. The windows are now installed and are great too. So my only dilemma is rating the installation. I was told it would take a day, and so they came on Saturday, but didn't get very far. said that they would come back on Sunday, but did not show up. They didn't come on Monday, arrived on Tuesday, and finished the job very professionally. I just thought that it was odd that the neighbor came and said that a lady was sleeping on my lawn. I couldn't imagine what this was about, and it turns out that she was the girlfriend of the installer. As I live in a rather nice area, it was an unusual sight for about 3 hours. Everyone was very friendly; however, it was a bit odd. I am also surprised that no one ever called after the installation to check and see how the job went and how satisfied I was with the job, etc. I got my neighbors on board now, and they are using CDW, but I almost feel that they have too much work for the number of installers. Not sure. Anyway, the windows are great. By the way, I was not told this, but the little metal strip between the panes of glass comes in different colors, not just silver. read more

I have had my California Deluxe Windows since 2008 and occasionally they need a tweek or fix. Recently one of the windows in my office started to be really difficult to raise (I have double-hung) and I called and KEVIN came out. The very worst customer service. I have an issue with a Rehau window purchased thru CDW. I've called customer service twice and spoke to a person and told her the problem. She said she would forward it to her boss. The 2nd time I called, she have me her bosses direct extension...which I've called and left 2 messages. I've spoken to 2 people in marketing as well as reaching out to Rehau corporate for a call back. Nothing!!! It's been over 8 days since I've started my quest for help I don't leave alot of bad reviews on Yelp but if you are having issues with a window through this company, good luck getting a call back. I DO NOT recommend this company. Update: After over a couple weeks and dozens of phone calls i finally got my issue resolved. Noam who works in Marketing in the Chatsworth, CA office went above and beyond to help me out. I needed verification for an email address for the service manager because my email with pictures to her bounced back. He had me stay on the line and personally walked over to the next building to talk with her. About a week after that, I got a call informing me that techs would come from CA to NV to fix my French door. I want to tell you what kind of frauds California windows. They advertise themselves on the radio that they make a qualified robot that they install windows and doors one in one according to the old sizes. In fact, this is not so. I'll tell you about my experience. An employee from this company came to me with a catalog and took the dimensions of the sliding doors himself and said that they make doors one-to-one according to the size of the old ones. The old doors had the same level between the dining room and the game room. This person's name was Nick, he assured that the size and quality are guaranteed. Since he guaranteed quality and measurements, my wife and I chose more expensive doors because of the color, we chose aluminum brown ones, because the old ones were white made of plastic Nick's name was the adjuster, he said that these aluminum doors are not afraid of scrams because they have a special coating. I took a loan from wells fargo and signed a contract. At the moment when the doors were ready and brought for installation, I was not at home, I was away, my wife was at home. I was 1000 percent sure that the new doors would fit - and will be installed without any problems, but as it turned out, they were not made not according to the size of the old ones and turned out to have a high threshold. My wife did not notice anything in this, she was on the top floor. In general, the doors were installed, but not those that should be the size of the old ones. If I were at home, I would have canceled this order, but since I was not there, there was only a wife who knew that the doors were brought by The order for installation did not attach any importance to it. It's just that she and I were sure that everything would be done correctly on request, but as it turned out, it was not so. First of all, these people are not professionals, they brought the doors and began to disassemble the wrong door, it's good that my wife saw it and stopped them in time. In general, the doors were installed. A few days later, I came home and saw the whole picture. First of all, what caught my eye is the thresholds, they are very raised. Someone came to my home to give me a quote on two specialty windows. He kept asking what my other quotes looked like and I kept responding that it shouldn't matter or effect his quote at all so I was unsure of why he kept asking for those prices. I had gottenmultiple quotes and nobody had ever asked that. He quoted me more than TRIPLE the price of my other quotes received for verified good brands like Milgard and Simonton. I was shocked when he gave me that high of a quote and immediately figured it was because I didn't have a man here with me. He asked where he landed compared to my other quotes and I just started laughing because it was so much higher, way to high for two specialty windows. He then added more discounts to bring it down to a little more than double my other quotes for verified strong brands. He didn't want to leave my house before getting me on board and I immediately reacted saying that wasn't going to happen. Following the consult, I received countless phone calls, emails, and text messages. It's very high pressure sales which I can't stand at all. The funny thing is that they manufacture their own windows which means it should ultimately come in lower than other companies who install premium brands. I looked further into the window quality that they do manufacture and the reviews are just not consistently good, there are some horror stories for sure. So, if you are wanting a quote from them and you're a female, definitely have someone there with you and keep in mind that their quote should not be triple from other companies. I urge you to get at least three quotes at a minimum before signing anything. Also look in depth at the reviews. They are proud of their lifetime warranty but I noticed many customers who had significant trouble getting someone to come out and get the work done timely. I'm super happy with the company I did go with who offered premium Milgard windows for less than half of the finalized quote (with all the discounts added) from this company. read more

No communication with me which will make the owner Aaron upset because he personally came to my home to do the measurements since I was his Loss Control representative for his workers compensation. My Nightmare With CDW. Spoiler Alert: Happy Ending. After the wind/fire event in January, I knew I needed to replace an entire wall (with a very high ceiling) of windows and glass doors. I called California Deluxe Windows. A very fast talking sales guy, who couldn't finish his own sentences much less let me finish one, appeared and assured me I had called the right place and that it was my lucky day because they were having a 30% off sale. I had many questions about the amount of structure relative to glass because my view is very expansive and I wanted to find the sweet spot between structural strength and view. His response to almost all of my questions was, "Yes yes yes. Don't worry. I'm here for you. You can always call me", and gave me his card. Anxious to move forward before another wind event, I made a (cash) deposit. He sent out someone right away to measure. An installer called to schedule the installation. A week and a half later, I called him to ask when I would get to make the fun choices. He said, "Like what?" I said, "Like the kind of hardware, color of frame and tint of glass." (I wanted clear). Oh, he said, you probably want white because it's already white - and there's only one tint for the glass. "But I wanted clear", I said. He said, "You can't get clear. Not anywhere because of a state Energy Efficiency regulation. He brought over about an 18" framed square of the tinted glass for me to see. Knowing I was stuck, I agreed, and went ahead and picked hardware. He had neglected to show me a whole ring full of different color chips for the inside and outside frames. After the installation, the light in my house was an awful dark grey/green color AND after I found out from another company that clear glass is, in fact, available, I called him. He was loud and defensive and made two appointments to come out and have a look - both of which he no-showed. All for about $30,000. There were other issues besides the tint but I will stay with this one. When the service dept. came out to fix the other issues, I told them I was deeply disappointed and asked if there was so I could speak to who wasn't that sales person. Enter Dennis Gorgolinski, I believe, a General Manager. He was easy paced, relaxed and listened carefully . He asked questions and he considered my answers. What I wanted was a re-do with all clear glass and different colors for the inside and outside frames. I explained that I felt misled (lied to, actually) by their fast talking salesman. He said he had to talk to a partner and that he'd get back to me. Long story shortened, he did get back to me and said they would re-do the entire job - on their dime. He showed me the color chips, the clear glass and all the hardware choices. On May 31st, they re-installed the whole thing and I couldn't be happier. I promised him I'd write a review saying they resolved my issue and this is that. I am pleased to have glass that was here since 1959 now replaced with double pane glass, in a structure that is hopefully safer facing the headwinds of the N/E Santa Ana winds and I am more than thrilled to have the light back in my house. So beware of a fast talking little salesman - wearing way to much cologne - but know that CDW will make it right in the end. Thank you, Dennis. read more

Here's my BIGGEST issue: These guys came out, assessed the site, measured, DID NOT inform us that the doors and window framing essentially take out two inches on each side, and yet reassured me personally BEFORE the installation that my rear door would have a comparable threshold height. "Maybe half an inch difference" they said, where it now stands at 2-2.5" difference because they didn't follow the existing trench in the framing. Ignoring the raised tile ramp inside, and the slope outside. Instead they filled it in, and gave rise to this scenario. What is wrong there, you ask? well, as I'm confined to using a wheelchair, it is that I can't leave my house without someone else's help, lifting me up and over what they consider a "minor inconvenience." Total BS. Despite emails back and forth with the GM about fixing, replacing, or getting reimbursed for the door, as I'm going to have to fork out an additional 10K for a new door with an ADA compliant threshold, nothing has been accomplished. The customer service with these guys is atrocious. read more

They manufacture and install the windows. So, in case of a problem you have a single party to go to. They color match your exterior trim instead of having just a few standard choices. Good windows fast install, but if you need service it's horrible! I ordered a replacement screen they charged me and brought out the wrong one. Then they ghosted me for the correct replacement about 3 months, I called and finally they sent a tech out who took a measurement about a week later, another couple weeks go by. Update to the update: well, I thought we were good until I noticed a roach crawl through a gap in our slider and then a ton of flying insects coming through obvious cuts in the track of the frame. Thought maybe it was a manufacturing thing but was able to compare them to the windows they installed 3 years ago which had no similar cuts in the frame. Also, coordinating service calls are a nightmare. We will see how this can be fixed but I keep fluctuating between "cool, they fixed it" and "what the heck is this new problem". Seems as though their manufacturing and installation quality has declined in the last few years since our last install in 2018. Also, we called for service and they were like ya, we will call you back... it's been a week... update! Dennis is helping us to rectify this situation. I will provide an updated review once any corrections are made. Thank you Dennis and team! My family and I have used CDW on two other homes and this our 3rd time using them. Not sure what happened since 2018 but installers were definitely different. First, it was a bait and switch with my husband when we told the sales guy what we wanted and how we wanted it completed similar to the two houses we did prior (block frame, not retrofit). Then because I pushed on this and called him out, he tried to say retrofit was some new code. When I asked for the code he never provided it. Interesting... Now to the installation... So rough on the removal of the old frames and really damaged multiple areas that had to be filled with plaster. Seems like installers were rushing to do the job. They were nice enough to wait for us to pull some old sub floor that was rotted under a door (after trying to convince us to install over the rot cause it'd be fine LOL). They cut the outside frame freehand in multiple spots and the cuts were so bad, not even straight. When I'm paying almost double what I paid a couple years ago for less windows and doors, I at least expect quality cuts and install. Additionally, the lock on one window is so high we can't get it permitted because of fire code. The slider door downstairs is catching when it goes to close and pretty sure the seal on the slider upstairs is busted. Now trying to coordinate getting someone out to fix their issues and 2 weeks later... last week we couldn't get a date for correction because they needed to talk to installers to find a time. Funny this person can only communicate that once a week apparently? And the day we are supposed to get a call back to maybe finally schedule someone to come and fix, no one answers... A bit funny that now they have our money and it's like pulling teeth to get them to fix their mistakes. We like their product but the service leaves something to be desired, especially for a 3x returning customer. read more

I had two new "custom" CDW windows installed early March '23. The installers chipped stucco in several spots (company's owner advertises how even potato chips wouldn't be chipped during installation) broke one of my old windows and tried to hide it, chipped an edge of my tub that was under the window they replaced, trashed and broke landscaping in process... One of the installers upon completion was demonstrating how to open and close one of the new windows and in the process had difficulty locking one of the two locks. All the wrong doings by these installers went unmentioned until I brought it to their attention. I also complained the day of the installation to the main office's customer support, it took three weeks to get this resolved. read more

CDWindows installed a small bay window in my kitchen in 2022 for $6500.00. When it was installed the ceiling and base were just plywood, and the installers told me I was responsible for painting it. Since then, It has leaked every time it rained. They've come to "fix" it each time, at their convenience, which is a major issue when you run an Air Bnb as I have explained repeatedly. It's raining again today, and my window ceiling and sill are still leaking. When I called main office, customer service hung up on me. I emailed the service dept, and they said they'd get back to me within 48 hours Paying this much for a faulty window and receiving this kind of treatment is completely unacceptable. Pricing was pretty good after applicable discounts and promotions I had 2 sliding doors of different sizes replaced, a bedroom window, a small tiny window, and new kitchen garden window Installers had many years of experience between the 2 16-19 years each - they were very polite professional answered questions I had and made sure the work was completed properly There were other individuals who assisted with the sealer/insulation/ clean up Joyce - admin support - very sweet communicative delightful individual who would follow up and let you know what steps are next or things to follow up - very organized and great memory Paul - project manager helpful in getting the order going and confirming different details were accounted for I would of gave it 4 stars but after the work was completed, my whole kitchen including floors appliances counters were covered in dust and soot - the person working in my kitchen didn't cover anything but the other individuals covered my furniture and floors as belongings as much as possibly to avoid extra dirt getting everywhere - also in my kitchen some parts of the walls were left with blackened hand prints so I get it, it's not a clean job but don't leave more dirt behind The other piece was the kitchen garden window - the installers did a wonderful job and basically put it together on the spot, but in order for me to open the window I have to climb into the garden window on the left side to pull it open to the right since the handle is on the inside - see photo of kitchen window I inquired about the shelf for the window and it's been 3 weeks and no answer regarding it as I have an email indicating a shelf does come with it but the installers did not one or knowledge for that. The quality of the all the windows are very sturdy and strong. I enjoy the safety mechanism and toughness and certainly can tell a difference. I appreciate the strong communication and pretty much seamless process. Overall I would recommend this business. ask questions on everything, possibly get tarps to cover it all because there will be plenty of dust everywhere, if you have shutters like I do either ask them to remove all of it or get them all Covered but dust cement debris will get on the shutters and framing (I have a little everything on mine and cleaning is so fun!), and then enjoy your new windows and sliders! read more

House windows installation today...3 months in the works for custom windows and today is the day! The first of the installers arrived precisely at 9am...an excellent start when the arrival window was 9-11am. After a quick look-see demo began and within an hour or so my house was windowless and open to the fresh air! A glorious feeling but it was a gloomy morning so cold set in and another pot of coffee was on. The installers were sensitive to our indoor kitties - with no windows our kitties would go AWOL rather then spend 4-5 hours in a carrier - so the guys left the sunroom for last. This worked perfectly and after lunch our kitties were set free as all the windows were installed and secure. What seemed like a team of 18 was really only 5-6 guys to handle 2 houses, 17 windows and 5 sets of sliding doors in just under 10 hours plus a lunch break. We bought the team a pizza and soda lunch as a thank you for managing our kitty needs and for a few miscellaneous tasks (like knowing how to take down vertical blinds, who knew?) Friendly, fast and clean...and they even tolerated my numerous questions on the process - which is fascinating by the way. The craftsmanship in the windows is something I never knew much about...but now I do and CDW is one of the best out there. American made of course. And the talent of the crew (some with 25 years experience) was awesome to watch - efficient and precise. I'm kind of obsessed with the windows but a little anxious because now my home improvement list has grown ten-fold (is that phrase?) Either way, my list is darn long. But first we have to get the house back in order...had to move everything from the windows which was a daunting task but a great excuse to spring clean....again! This is our 2nd experience with CDW and hands down we would recommend them and would absolutely call on them again if the need arises. Super beautiful windows! read more

we got our new doors and windows installed a year ago only to find out what a big mistake it was. The quality is so bad that we sometimes have a hard time closing the sliding doors all the way. and for service I give them an F all the way around. we have been waiting for one single screen door to be replaced because it fell out on a windy day and it has been 2 months we have been waiting for them to bring and last Tuesday they were supposed to come and never showed up. So I ended up calling and for the past 3 days the entire service dept. is out and no one can be reached to find out why they never showed up. In conclusion I would definitely NOT recommend CDW to do any work on your doors and windows. STAY AWAY!!!! read more

I have been doing business with CDW for around 18 years or so and had not only windows installed but also a Tex-coat applied to my home. After a fair amount of time passed the Tex-coat started to fail. I tried reaching out to CDW to use the warranty given at the time of purchase. Due to mis communication or something, nothing was ever done. I reached out again a couple of times over the years, and this last time, being quite irritated received a response. I was visited by a gentleman named Dennis who apologized for the miscommunication and went above and beyond to not only fix my house but saw to it that I was fully satisfied with the end result and had a a pleasant experience. All the workers who fixed the house were very professional and thorough, and need a shout out...Luciano and Kevin, who worked on the windows, and the Lifecoat crew, led by Mauricio Borjas. My house looks good as new and I am a big fan of CDW once again. This company has stepped up, and with a simple handshake, and at no further charge to me, brought honor to their name and showed a great corporate culture. I fully recommend this company to do business with. Also, if an issue arises, just reach out and persistently explain your side of the story.
