But where they stand out is that they are compassionate, knowledgeable and really jump right into addressing your concerns. When I wrecked my back, for God knows what reason other than being old and stuff happens now, I had no clue what to do. My dr prescribed the typical pain relaxers and physical therapy which didn't work. I really didn't know what to do next. So I did the normal thing try everything else out to see if works. Luckily, I started first with Accupuncture and scheduled an appointment with Rebecca. She figured out what was going on and could relate to what I was going through. At this point I just wanted to be able to sleep and maybe walk again. The first session went quickly and on my drive home was thinking that's not bad and wow I can kind of walk a bit normal again. Got home, got some good sleep and next day felt great. I am now back for more appointments finding this to be way more effective than phys therapy and prescription drugs. Who knew holistic medicine and treatment would be so effective. Highly recommend.

But mind you, it is a bit pricey, but how much is it worth if it helps you in the long run? L O C A T I O N Master Zhao Institute is located on the corner of Mowry & Blacow in Fremont. It's on the first floor of the building right next to the gas station (which is now an Andoil). Parking is super easy. Lots of spaces, but you may want to park on the side next to the gas station as it's closer & cleaner due to less trees. S E R V I C E S The institute does a couple things: 1. Workshops around Qi Gong 2. Treatments around various disorders & illnesses I came for energy healing. All new clients need to go through a first diagnosis/consultation & a first treatment through energy healing. This costs $300 & subsequent energy healing sessions are $200 each. They suggest to do 5 energy healing sessions within 2-3 weeks for the best results. When I called, it was about 2 weeks out before anything was free, so if you're going to do this, be wary that you may not get an appointment immediately. After my first treatment, I was able to schedule my next session 3-4 days later, so maybe it's just the new clients as Master Zhao needs to do the diagnosis. B A C K G R O U N D I've been dealing with a lot of sleep & stomach issues for a while now. It's gotten to a point where I had to step away from work & just focus on getting better. I have a coworker/friend tell me about Master Zhao & how it helped him & his wife. I was amazed at his story & I fully whole heartedly wanted to try it out. Now fast forward 6 months, I finally bit the bullet since my way of figuring things out wasn't working. E X P E R I E N C E I arrived at the location & wondering where it was. It was on the first floor of the complex & the door was swung open. Richard was standing outside (he's schedules appointments). Once you're verified you have an appointment you walk inside where there are about 4 rooms, a huge open space in the middle with seats lined up on the left side for those waiting & a TV on the upper right where it's looping through a mini story about Master Zhao. There were two other men in the same space as I was waiting. One standing, the other at the desk where you end up paying Richard at the end. The one at the desk was speaking to someone on speaker phone in Chinese. I felt like I was intruding on a conversation though every time he looked at me, he smiled. I focused on watching the TV & realized that the man sitting there was THE Master Zhao. I had to do multiple double takes & yup, that was him. He looked like just an ordinary old man, but don't let looks deceive you. Well I anxiously awaited my appointment...5-10-15 minutes past & finally asked to go into a room by a lovely lady (who I forgot to ask her name). There was another person in there already getting treatment. She asked me to take off my shoes & lie down on the table. She asked for my name & if I spoke Chinese. Apparently Master Zhao doesn't speak very much English. So I lay there for another few minutes & Master Zhao came back in with the same lady. I was asked to lay my hands flat on the table as I lay down on the very hard table. Within less than a minute Master Zhao was ready to diagnose me. I was like....really? He didn't touch me, just just looked at me. He starts off with your biggest issue & bam. He hit it smack dab...stomach. He also asks if he was right & you're there to confirm or deny. But one after the other, he just said one area of my body after the other that no one would know about unless you knew me from birth or specifics of accidents I've been through in the past. He also mentioned my head was very foggy & that I was really tired. He then told me that I was overall weak & have been unhappy for some time. I was like...whoa. He also said that I was kind, my coworkers liked me & that I was reliable. I was like okay at least something positive is coming out. He then also said that due to my stomach issues, my body is blocked in terms of energy flow. He suggested no ice or cold drinks for a while. After diagnosis, one of his students does the energy healing. My luck the lady translating was going to treat me & his wife! What happens afterwards is a series of her hand waving about a foot above from head to mid body to feet, she would leave the room & tell me to focus on my feet & come back & she did it again about 3-4 times. She asked me to let her know if I felt any tingling or temperature changes as this would be a sign that my body was receptive to treatment. I can't really describe how it all went but it was definitely an experience. O V E R A L L I would recommend trying Master Zhao. I'm unsure if this will fully work for me, but I fell asleep the past two nights w/o medication but staying asleep is still a problem. Going back again on Friday, hoping for more progress.

Squeamish readers who have no desires to hear about my health woes, you are advised to stop reading at once. For those of you still with us, I was severely anemic and had some serious lady issues - just calling whatever was happening in my uterus "cramps" is seriously undermining the soul-wrenching pain I regularly endured. I have to admit, when I went along for the journey, I wasn't expecting much. Though I'd heard great things about qi-gong in general and Master Zhao specifically, I like to temper my more woo-woo inclinations with a healthy dose of skepticism. Didn't quite hold up in the face of what happened. Master Zhao has you lay down, and then your qi (alternately spelled "chi") starts draining out of your feet and you get very cold. Then he comes in and waves his hands over your body and starts telling you all kinds of shit that only your diary should know! I had asthma as a kid. Master Zhao knew. I had a knee injury from days long past. Master Zhao knew. My iron counts were pathetically low. Master Zhao knew. He chalked my lady parts problems up to an overabundance of yin energy, told me to lay off the cold drinks and ice cream, and suggested that I have sex more often. Hells yeah. And later that month, during my "special time," I acted like a flippin' Kotex commercial: I can do it all, and feel healthy and refreshed! No more crippling, moan-inducing, agonizing cramps. Hurrah! I referred a dear friend and Master Zhao gave him a serious assist on his health issues, too. I'm a believer. I would recommend Master Zhao with every fiber of my body, and every sparkling component of my healthy, balanced qi.

It's in a cute upstairs space in downtown Willow Glen, and the second you walk in it just feels peaceful. It has a calming atmosphere that makes you slow down for a minute. I went in for an evaluation because I've been dealing with some pretty intense foot and ankle pain. Christine spent time asking questions and really trying to understand what my body has been through instead of jumping straight into treatment. I appreciated that she looked at everything as a whole rather than just focusing on where it hurt. She scanned my body and also performed fire cupping where it made sense. I left feeling so much better than when I walked in. I also know this probably isn't a one-visit fix, and I actually appreciated that there weren't any unrealistic promises--just a plan to help my body continue healing. If you're looking for a more holistic approach to caring for your body, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out. I'll absolutely be back.

It was my first time seeing Christine, and she was kind about me being tardy. We did an intake session and then she used the short time we had left (due to me being late) for a massage. Christine first focused on my shoulders and neck where I hold pain. She incorporated stretches into the deep tissue massage. I had a heat lamp on my feet to warm them and relaxing music played overhead. I relaxed in no time. Next she massaged my face and jawline, reminding me occasionally to breathe deeply. It felt wonderful. I had a mild migraine when we started and it was gone when we were done. Christine is very personable and well educated in holistic healing practices. I'm looking forward to returning and also plan to look into her qigong classes.

During the warmup phase the movement drills she teaches you allows you to diagnose where in the body you have less strength and flexibility. You can also detect loss of symmetry in balance. Very different than other forms of exercise. She also teaches you how to work on specific problem areas related to today's lifestyle like upper shoulders and lower back. These progressions are very different than traditional western based cardio and weight lifting exercise. Can develop a monitoring of your own body ad correlate it with the amount you sleep to tune your health levels. I can't get that by doing more miles on the treadmill. Very unique and talented individual. One in a million. She has world class talent; taught live in Chinese TV to millions of people and was practicing since 4. If you grew up in China you have seen he on TV. Incredible person. Polar opposite of the male powerful western martial arts instructor. Can't believe someone like this exists, very rare. Excellent teacher. Never met someone with this much range; able to customize to different groups so effortlessly. Her bio shows 20+ years of teaching experience and it shows in the sessions. She gave us 2 separate demos. Looks like what you see in the martial arts movies. When she throws a punch, the transition from standstill to fast motion punch is breathtaking. Can't replicate that on movies. They add sound effects which isn't the same as experiencing it in real life. The physical displacement and pace of the movement is not something most people can replicate, looks different when she does it. Definitely a special person. Worth the in person visit. From the awards she has won she is as famous in taichi as is Steph Curry in basketball. Very interesting. Not just the physical talent which makes a champion. Also maturity, mental toughness, and being a better person are all tools which are needed to be the best in the world. Many similarities to what Steph is like today. When I decided to see if qi gong would enhance the initial stirrings of chi from these other martial arts, I started taking classes at the Longevity center. I have to say that Arnold Tayim is one of the best teachers I have ever had. He has enormous knowledge, is highly articulate, and perhaps what distinguishes him the most is his eagerness to share that knowledge. Many of the traditional martial arts teachers, especially from Asia, have a semi macho tendency to dole out learnings slowly, insisting that students pay their dues for long periods before getting another snippet of learning. Arnold unabashedly draws from a huge array of information, from many teachers and disciplines, and communicates them very clearly, patiently, and always taking time throughout class to pause for questions (which students freely raise, allowing for a highly interactive discussion.). He even encourages students to record his verbal walkthrough of qi gong exercises so we have his guiding voice when we practice at home.
