Mind you it's not a nail that they put on and ask how long it's round magnets that you have to use to imagine how long it would be. Kind of strange. First magnet is free but it's barely a nail and each length after that is $5! Then they asked what shape I said almond they said that's an extra $5. Then they asked which polish I said cat eye and then again an extra $15 for that so this $55 said turned into a $75set. I had my little girl with me and asked before we sat down how much is for kids she said ok I will Tell you go sit which I thought was strange. Most nails salons charge between $12-15. I sat to get my nails started and my daughter was waiting patiently. They came by after they began my pedicure and said it's $30 for her. Mind you she's 5 all of her nails put together are the size of 2 adult nails. They had no other option for kids. I quickly decided to just get a pedicure and forget my acrylic set to go to the place near me that charges $15 she immediately began to cry and I had no choice but to just get it done or deal with her crying while I got my pedicure. Now I know why they didn't tell me the price up front. I would've walked away before even sitting down. They said it's $30 because it's no chip I'm sorry that still doesn't justify $30 for baby nails. By the way this no chip all came Off the very next day!!!! My get set cat Eye was completely sheer I brought it up when she was done because I didn't think she was done and she said it's supposed to be that way. There was no base coat applied to the nail prior to adding the 2 coats of cat eye. I asked a friend who is also a nail tech and she told me they should be so sheer and they there's a base prior to applying the cat eye polish. I went back the next day to at least get my nails fixed. The tech fixed my nails but was full of attitude. I asked how much it would be to add gold trim and she said I don't know what you're talking about I don't want to add something and you will say you don't like it and complain. So yeah def wouldn't be going back. They also reuse the toss away plastic cups that they serve drinks in which I thought was gross. I didn't finish my drink and as I went up to pay I put my drink on the counter to get my wallet out and looked up and my drink was gone. I asked where it went and she said the cup stays here!

They did not allow for the polish to dry between coats and by the time I got home the polish had already shifted from not setting properly. My gel polish is still in tact (thankfully), but the pedicure can best be described as my feet splashing around in water for 45 minutes because they did not properly remove the dead skin from my feet. I'm annoyed that I spent over 2 hours at this establishment to be completely unsatisfied within hours and within days it was as if no service was even performed. Lazy efforts all the way around.

(We were lucky to get in last minute with a major football game falling at the same time as our appointment). The interior of the nail salon is so calming, love the soft lighting, the pleasant background music on, TV with close captioned Golden Girls going and bohemian interior with its crystal chandeliers, Moroccan stencils on one window, subway tile on a wall, and French chic pieces throughout. You don't feel like you're in a nail salon. Estella and Michelle did our honey and milk spa pedicures (the upgrade was worth it) and regular manicures. Both were great and our paws and hands feel so much better as a result. I wish this salon existed back home... I love the little touches as well on how this salon supports good causes and takes the longer route to remove gel versus electric filing which always feels like it damages the top of my nail. Please note, because of this timing, and that no one in my life gets this done, I have no basis of comparison other than a few previous manicures. After needing some TLC, I booked an appointment with Gingerslam Nail Bar for a standard Mani-Pedi. Nothing fancy, no colors or shapes, just enough to bring them up to factory spec. The experience was alright. While I wouldn't go as far as to say it was painful, the discomfort in my cuticles being pushed back and trimmed was greater than I'd encountered in the past. Also, while it felt nice at the time, the oil used on my feet was less thrilling when it met sock and shoe. Finally, one other thing I wasn't thrilled about: In going from the pedi-chair to the mani-chair, I was given a pair of disposable flip-flops. These things were so hilariously flimsy and ill-fitting, my freshly cleaned feet kissed the floor more times than once. Thus, while not a negative experience, I can't say it was an extremely positive one. Though my nails, hands, and feet felt good after, this is counterbalanced by the discomfort of the procedure itself, and feet-on-bare-floor. While a rare luxury, it shouldn't include this level of discomfort, in my opinion. As such, I believe my next nail-care appointment will be somewhere else.

I believe staff members who are responsible for booking appointments should be able to communicate clearly to avoid misunderstandings like this. As you can see in the photos, the salon is beautiful. I asked the owner and she said they've been open 2 years in that location (so I was surprised they weren't on Yelp!). They quoted me a 20 minute wait, which was fine, and I sat in a pedicure chair while I waited so I got a little back massage! It wasn't until I was looking for 5+ minutes when the woman working told me there was a book with more colors. 2 - This was the fastest dip manicure I've ever had in my life. It wasn't a bad thing. In fact, I don't enjoy sitting at salons forever waiting for my nails to be done. But the shaping of the nails is a bit funky, they look like bubbles, and it's thick. She clearly rushed through getting them done. They look fine though, overall. But if they were trying to close or just couldn't take me, I would've found another place to go to. 3 - The cost was $50. I did not get lotion or a massage or anything. It was a no frills service, which again, was fine for me this time around. But I don't think I found **my place** yet.
