I had the best steak tips ever, served with choice of salads, I got the Caesar, and mashed potatoes . Service was very quick, excellent waitress, did not get her name. Definitely going back again. I recognized Julio, one of the owners from Puleos on Highland Ave. Salem, which is now closed and his brother Roger from The Westside Restaurant in West Peabody. Came to this little restaurant that is family owned on a Saturday afternoon with my girlfriend for an early dinner. I got the steak tips with a caesar side salad and sweet potato fries. Great breakfast. Went on a Monday morning and sat right down. I could see there being a long wait on the weekends as it's a small place. My over easy eggs were cooked perfectly. I stopped in here and got lunch to go. I had he meatloaf with mash potatoes. It was ok....the meatloaf was flavorful, but they smothered it with gravy, which was VERY salty. This place is great. Such a hidden gem. I have only been here for breakfast, but it is the best around. The staff is very friendly, and the resteraunt area always seems clean and inviting. Enjoyed a nice afternoon meal with family and friends at April's. My wife knew some of the folks who work here and we decided to give it a try. April's was not busy as it was snowing outside and we came a little early for dinner time. But the food was delicious and the atmosphere was warm and friendly. I wish there were a rating below one star. We went to April's in hopes of grabbing brunch as a family. Imagine our disappointment when racial prejudices ruined what was supposed to be a pleasant brunch outing. When we got inside, a server directed us to wait behind another group, as they were number one and we were number two. We did so without issue, as we assumed this was customary. We were incorrect. The people in front of us were quickly seated, and we continued to wait. Within that time a couple of us went to the bar and ordered breakfast drinks, and while the rest of us waited in the same spot another family entered. The family waited for a few moments before turning to leave, when at that point the same waitress stopped them and moved to seat them. Considering the fact that at this point, we had been waiting well over 20 minutes, this was very confusing. We asked the waitress and she feigned confusion, even though she was the one who addressed both of us. We continued to wait because we still had drinks to finish, but once it was clear what was happening we moved to leave, letting the staff know that we disappointed with our service, or lack thereof. The very same server chimed in that she didn't see us come in, which was, of course, a lie. Do not give money to this establishment is you believe in ethnic equality. read more

Although I consistent the food here is usually pretty good but the service is always terrible during lunch. I'm not sure if it improves with dinner but the lunch staff has terrible phone etiquette, they don't return change on take out orders, and you can be waiting for 20 mins before someone speaks to you. Every single time I go to this place there's always something that goes wrong. Because it's so close to where I work I gave it numerous chances and every single time I've been disappointed, but today is the last of it. Today I tried to order a two egg combo over the phone for pick up. The menu I had in front of me said it was 6.95$ (which is already too much for breakfast) while the person on the phone told me it was 8.95$! She was unprofessional and arguing over the phone with me about what it came with. The menu I had was completely different from what she said. They're not consistent and constantly change their menu and their prices. She ended up hanging up the phone on me and when I called back she said she was too busy to help me even though I placed other orders for my coworkers as well. She told me that lowest she'd go on the two eggs and french toast were 8.75$, so I decided to cancel my order. When I got over to pick up the rest of the order and show her the menu I had she said she has no idea where I could've gotten that menu even though it was clearly was theirs. The manager/owner (? i'm assuming) was there as well stating that they would have honored the price on the menu I had even though the girl over the phone was giving me a hard time. This will be the last time we ever try to order from them. They serve overpriced, mediocre food, with horrible customer service. This place is not worth the hassle and money. read more

Went here tonight with three friends from Peabody. We had heard good things and thought we would see for ourselves. We sat at the bar-very comfortable seats. The female bartender was very attentive and made two great Cosmos! I wanted to order a beer BUT no draft and only one micro brewed beer-Sam Adams Boston Lager-really ? So I had no choice but to order a martini-it was terrific! The special for the night was a roast pork dinner with mashed, gravy and choice of vegetable-for $8.95. It was a huge plate and home made and delicious-just like Mom's Sunday dinner. My friends ordered the April's salad and the Caprese salad-the former with grilled chicken and the Caprese with grilled salmon. Both were terrific. The owner came to check on our meals and we had a great conversation. Please try this place out and you will be satisfied -except for the beer list:) Aprils will be a success and we will travel all the way from Peabody for the ambiance and the home cooked food. read more

Mediocre food at best. Went for breakfast and they didn't even have a soy or almond milk alternative for the coffee. If you have a dairy allergy, black coffee is basically all you're gonna get here. It a hit or miss. The chicken parm was always been my go to here. I ordered it today and it was gross. I couldn't even stomach it, there was way too much sauce. I mean actually drowning in the sauce. Couldn't taste anything but sauce. I was with a group of people so I picked at the chicken a bit but didn't eat much of the dish. When the waitress finally came over she asked if my dish was not good as I was the only one that the table who had not touched their dish. I told her the issue. Husband and I popped down to try this place out tonight after seeing it on Phantom Gourmet. We were NOT disappointed! As with a book, don't let the cover fool you.. Not the most promising from the outside, but once we stepped in the yummy smells alone were enough reason to stay. Jenn, our waitress, was friendly and helpful! Husband had caprese chicken and I had the steak tips. Both were so good. Tips were buttery tender, cooked exactly the way I wanted and seasoned to perfection!
