Andy Martinez serviced our home today and did an outstanding job. He was thorough, kind, professional, and clearly took pride in doing the job right. He also sent photos of everything that was treated and kept us informed throughout the service, which we really appreciated. We also want to recognize Eric Retana, who has always provided excellent service for us. Eric was originally scheduled to come out but was unable to make it, so he recommended Andy. Eric had trained Andy, and it showed. Andy carried himself with the same professionalism, care, and attention to detail that we have always appreciated from Eric. Both Eric and Andy deserve recognition. They represent Aptive very well and are exactly the kind of technicians who build customer trust. Any customer-driven business would do well to train its service representatives in this same manner. Terrible business practices. Prior to signing any contract with this company, do a websearch on "Aptive lawsuit" -- you will find that many of the complaints stated here (ignoring non-solicitation notices, deceptive business practices, failure to honor cancellations) have been the subject of lawsuits but the company continues to ignore NO means NO. Ask yourself if you want employees so trained to be on your property with you, your wife or daughter. I signed a one-year agreement; service is below average (quick exterior spray), but can be average, as additional service and problem areas are addressed upon request. First red flag was the door-to-door solicitation, second major red flag was that the salesman misrepresented the contract: fortunately, I reviewed it prior to signing it, discovering what the salesman asserted was a quarterly charge was a monthly charge. After ten months, I decided a local exterminator was a better alternative, and decided not to renew the contract. There is no way to cancel on the website, so I called. I informed the representative I wanted to cancel, and she stated that Aptive does not cancel accounts, but leaves them open so I could still elect to use the service if I wanted. I stated that I was not renewing the contract after the term ended, services were to be terminated and the Aptive no longer had the authority to charge my credit card. Rep again gave me a statement about Aptive not terminating contracts and stated I would need to call after the contract was over (presumably so it could renew the contract then charge a cancellation fee). I again told her, and made it very clear that I agreed to pay to the end of the term, but I was not renewing the contract (providing 60-day advance notice of nonrenewal), Aptive was to cease all invoicing after the end of the term and had no authority to charge my credit card thereafter. Two months after the term ended, I received a text about scheduled service. I responded that I had not renewed the agreement and did not want Aptive on my property. Aptive stated that my records indicate that I requested cancellation of service on January 23, but that I did not call on the last day of the contract , so it renewed on a month-to-month basis. The company claims it does "not have automatic cancellation" but it appears to twist that language to mean "we ignore all advance notices of non-renewal" and termination is only accepted on the last day of the contract. Again, I stated that I had provided notice of nonrenewal on January 23 (multiple times) including making it clear that I was not providing advance notice of nonrenewal and termination after month and there was no authority to charge my credit card. I later noticed that Aptive charged me for months 13 and 14 of the twelve-month contract after I stated I wanted the contract to terminate after the initial twelve-month term. I contacted Aptive again. The sales rep provided an Orwellian reply: "Your contract didn't get renewed. The account still remains active, service still continues, and monthly billing still continues, but you are not tied up to a new agreement" and also informed me that despite my notice of nonrenewal, termination of services, and revocation of authority to charge my credit card, Aptive will continue to charge me after termination (presumably for life, despite contract nonrenewal). Do not trust this company. No ethics or integrity. This experience was forced upon me by 2 rude sales reps who knocked on our door that said no soliciting. The female of the two reps smirked rudely when I pointed out the sign and pompously claimed "oh I don't have my contacts on today so I can't read that". Funny that my security camera has her waiving at the camera on her approach from plenty far away to indicate she can see fine. Both reps claimed they had the permits required to knock in our neighborhood, and then refused to provide them. The company says: "Aptive sales representatives will always have a verifiable ID badge." Both reps refused to give permits, sales ID badges, or even a business card. Then calling into the main company to complain, I was told they were going to connect me to someone who would help me address this, and then they hung up on me. Fortunately I have 2 videos both with audio, plus the recorded phone call, and I found neighbors with similar experiences of the same two people. Once I've received the videos from my other neighbors, I'm posting all of them to many social media platforms next week. I won't go to that extent if I get a call from a manager (and a response to this message) who proves this is being fixed and not taught as a sales tactic since it is illegal, as well as verification that the rep is fired or a direct apology received from that rep via phone. What I was sold by the rep was not what I was given by the tech. I am trying to cancel my plan and they are making it impossible without paying the cancelation fee. I don't want my money back. I am just not willing to pay a cancelation for a service that I was oversold and underdelivered. Tech told me to spray my lawn down with water after they left to make sure it was safe for my dogs. Did not know my labor was going to be required in the high end plan. Was told I would be given fly traps for in my home. Tech said they did not have any. I asked if the spray they use was the same as what I buy at Home Depot (Ortho) and the tech said yes. So I'm paying someone $119/mo to spray my house with the same spray I have in my garage. That's $200/hour for the Tech after supplies. Tech saw I requested mosquito treatment and asked if I actually have mosquitos. It's Austin Texas so obviously we do. She then said oh well the spray will take care of that (it doesn't). I disagreed and asked if she had mosquito traps or bait stations. She said she didn't have hanging traps. I asked if she had the bait stations that are a pot with a down stem to which she revealed she did have and could put those out. My rodent control was the tech handing me two sticky paper traps to put in my attic myself. Again not sure what I'm paying for at this point. This is not worth $119/mo. When I tried to cancel they told me a didn't do it in the three day window (it has been 8). I work 50-70 hours a week so I was hoping for a bit of grace. I was hung up on by someone who doesn't speak English when I asked to speak to someone who could help me with this. I called back and I could only understand 20% of what the next rep said to me. I was told I could try sending an email. There is no email listed. You can only submit a request for service. I am now going to have to go to their office to try and prevent them from robbing me. Deceptive and unethical business practices. I signed a one-year agreement; service is ok if you are home and request specific services (such as interior treatment or addressing particular problem areas); otherwise, they will quickly spray the exterior perimeter and leave. Price is high: I was offered a decent price per treatment by the sales person, only to read the contract and find out it was the monthly charge for services provided quarterly (3x what was represented). Renegotiated a bit before signing: price is higher than local companies, but I would be ok with that for premium services. Contact was initially misrepresented, so, as with all agreements, read before you sign. My first service was good; additional services were average but polite. I signed a one-year contract and honored it. Nighmare and major issue occurred after a year when the contract ended and I elected not to renew. There is no way to cancel on the website. I called, and representative gave me the runaround. I told her to that I did not want to renew the contract multiple times, and she stated they would not terminate my account, but rather the company keeps accounts active and continues to charge so customers could use the service. I stated I was not renewing the contract, the contract was ending, I did not want any additional services, and I would dispute any monthly charges with my credit card company. She said that my account would remain active. I made it clear that I wanted to close my account and was giving notice of nonrenewal at the end of the twelve-month term. So now, two months after the term, I receive a text that my service has been scheduled. Unlike prior texts, which also had a link to reschedule, there is no link or additional information. I use the link from a prior text to log into my account (which is still active, but shows no balance is due). There is no way to delete my credit card and I cannot cancel the scheduled service online. Do not trust this company with your credit card. read more

Be alert when these types of people knock on your door to sell you this service because they won't let you get rid of them. Their service is poor, and all they want is your money. I had an extremely negative experience with this company. I have a clearly posted "No Soliciting" sign in my yard that is easily visible from the sidewalk, yet their solicitor completely ignored it. Not only did he walk right past the sign, but he rang my doorbell twice, which was disruptive and disrespectful. We saw him on our cameras and, on our way home, stopped to confront him. Instead of apologizing or acknowledging the issue, he was extremely rude and entitled, insisting that because he had a permit he didn't have to respect the sign. That is completely misleading. Many smaller cities (or unincorporated areas) may require a permit for door-to-door soliciting, but even when a permit is required, that does not mean solicitors may ignore private property rules like "No Soliciting" signs. The general principle is simple: a permit from the city might allow a solicitor to operate within city policy limits, but it does not override the rights of homeowners to refuse unwanted solicitation on their own property. This company either does not train its employees on respecting private property rights, or worse, it encourages them to ignore them. Either way, this was an incredibly unprofessional experience. Between the disregard for the posted sign, the aggressive double doorbell ringing, and the rude, entitled behavior when confronted, I would strongly discourage anyone from doing business with them. read more

Quality of customer service is not there at all. Whether it's the technicians or the office admin staff. They refused to cancel my services with them because it's under my husband's name? I've never heard of that for pest control service? This isn't a bank. LOL. The office admin is pretty pushy when you try to cancel as well may I add. My big complaint about them is that our tech was scheduled between 9am-11am on a Saturday and the tech texted my husband at 6:30am on SATURDAY saying he was "40 minutes out".... The person who signed us up did not explain well exactly what we were agreeing too and made it sound like what I asked was what was in the contract which wasn't even close. They said all of our neighbors use their service too which was also a confirmed lie. I asked my neighbors around me and they denied using their service except for one other person. When we had our treatments the multiple different workers would somehow be finished with the entire 2 acres in less than 5 minutes. The scheduling was the absolute worst and did not abide by our agreed time-span and one point was scheduling us for the next treatment to be just two weeks from the prior. For the amount of money we have wasted on their "treatment" (with no visible results to show) I could have and SHOULD have done it myself with insecticides I can get on my own. It was hilarious to see that their idea of "treatment" in the garage was to throw two sticky traps in the corner. Now were stuck with their early termination fee of $200 to "compensate what was discounted on the initial treatment" (which each treatment is priced at $160 per visit and charged $40 for the initial visit so that scam math doesn't add up at all) Don't bother with them if you see them knocking just send them away. read more

I was told that I would get charges about $50 for each service treatment as long as I got 5 service calls in a 1 year period. I have figured out that I am getting charged $50 each month whether I get the service or not. I have had 5 service calls, but they want to still charge me each month. I cancelled the contract and now they say they are going to charge me $199 to cancel. Totally bogus, and when I call I get someone in an Indian call center, then transferred to a supervisor in the states, but he says there is nothing he can do except cancel the service and charge the additional $199. When I asked to cancel they claimed that I have to have 7 billing cycles which I had at already 8 on the time I called... I am shocked to see such a low Yelp rating. I've used them for a few years and have always been pleased with the service. Many of the reasons I have been happy is: I no longer have bug issues and I live on a large greenbelt that practically red carpet invites critters and bugs (so Aptive is effective), the chemical they use does not kill all critters as I still have a lot of squirrels, lizards, snails, frogs, birds, and even a few turtles, it's easy to reschedule appointments, the crew that does the services have ALWAYS been super friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful, and finally, the cost is worth the results. I haven't had them come inside for a while since doing the outside seems to be enough to prevent anymore home invasions. This is nice because I don't have to be home to get the service completed. But, I do not like companies that go door to door, so I wouldn't have even tried them if this is how I heard of them. I actually learned of them via a Google search. read more

We signed up with Aptiv about a year and a half ago when a door-to-door salesman came to our house. We decided to switch from our current pest control company because they promised that they would do attic treatments. We have had a carpenter ant issue up in our attic for several years, and it was becoming a real issue. We also had a lot of wasp activity in our backyard and we're hoping that they could help with that as well. The good was that they were able to help a bit more than our previous pest control company with the carpenter ant issue, however they do not do attic treatments. We were really disappointed that we were sold this service when they don't actually go into the attic to apply pest control product. To their credit, however, we have noticed less bugs in our house than with our previous provider. Also, during the first treatment when we found out they didn't do in-attic treatments for liability reasons the manager of the branch was willing to work out a way for us to still treat the problem in the attic. He was very nice and wonderful to work with. Aptiv also had a good rating when we joined over a year ago, 4-5 star reviews, and we felt taken care of. I dont know if someone bought the company or what happened but that is far from the case today. The biggest issue with Aptiv is their customer service and sales technique. They do employ door-to-door sales people. Ours was very nice and we did not feel pressured when she approached us. However, I can see how certain individuals could use pressure tactics in order to sell the service. Unlike other pest control companies that are local you are dealing with over seas call centers when you want to make any request including reservice, or rescheduling. What other reviewers had said about same day alerts for providing service is correct. There have been several times where we will get a text message 20 to 30 minutes before the person arrives with no prior notification, it almost feels like they do this last minute so that you don't have a chance to cancel or reschedule. They often say you can reschedule anytime or check on your appointment online. However, I've been unable to login since we started the service and calling their helpline never helps. When we first signed up we dealt directly with an individual who was able to call a manager and we were able to work out our bug treatment plan with actual people who are local. That was fantastic. We were very happy with them for the first 6 to 8 months we had their service, but I do agree with everyone on here of that it has gone downhill quickly. We are looking into options currently to try and find another provider. The cost just isn't justified. read more

I have had three appointments so far. 1) They showed up and left when I wasn't home, even though I confirmed prior to the appointment that they would do the outside if I wasn't home. I had to reschedule, and the person that serviced my inside and outside seemed good. 2) They came and serviced my outside when I wasn't home. Great. 3) I was home, and got a message saying they tried to service my home and couldn't. I called customer service and they wanted me to reschedule. I wanted to know why they said they came when they hadn't knocked on the door or rang the doorbell or called. It was frustrating to wait around and then have this happen. The customer service agent couldn't explain it, but said a tech would come that day. No one came. I emailed customer service and just got frustrating responses that showed they weren't listening. When I would reply, a different customer service person would answer the email. So it was impossible to get a resolution. I am very confused by their responses to my email thread, though it looks like they canceled my service and want to charge me $199 since I am canceling early. Each service has been provided on time, my concerns have been addressed, & most of all, the technicians have been professional & knowledgeable about Aptive products & services. In August I signed up for Aptive Pest Control for rat problem. They sprayed the grass and put a black box with rat poison inside. They explained how rats travel and it seemed like they really knew their business. Said they would be back in 20 days (27th). I anxiously awaited wanting to know how big a problem. Wow I really wished I would have checked Yelp before signing up for this monstrosity. They claim to be a healthier alternative to bug repellent but unfortunately that means less effective. At no point in the 5 months we paid was there less mosquito or flies around. The company left cardboard sticky pads in our garage which ultimately caught two different birds. It was a heartbreaking ordeal to witness. I wish I knew of the second when I had discovered the first tragedy. And finally on the last day of 'service' I tried to cancel the appointment with the heads up text they send. However it took 9 hours to reply and they ended up spraying and billing me. I was a previous aptive employee, I took my 5 day of PTO a week before the 14th of December. In the 14th my first newborn child was born. I got a call early morning from my finance that her water broke, without hesitation I drove to pick her up. THE DAY of leaving the hospital I call my OM to check in, he explain to me the office manager KRISTIN wants to fire me due to running a red light. The day of leaving the hospital and days before Christmas. I hope you're happy with not only taking away my only source of pay but my only transportation, cell phone and families health care. You ruined this Christmas. I do not recommend aptive at all. The two operations managers are great but Kristin fired me without a write up or office talk. Pretty low blow. read more

Not reliable for one. They don't show up when they say will (that's if the "technician " bothers to text you. They sprayed in my house and a few days later I found a very alive scorpion! What are they spraying? Water!!?? It's $130 a month plus! The account managers come and go so the job must really hate their job. And the technicians don't know their bugs so I have little to no confidence in their work.
