They were handling the pest control for a house I bought, so I asked them what services they were providing and how much it would cost to continue the service. I indicated my preferred method of contact was email (they specifically asked). Several weeks later, they still have not answered my specific questions except to send me a generic contract that included services I almost certainly didn't need. They never replied to my email response asking for clarification and have instead robo-called me many times. So if you ask them for a quote, be prepared for this. I will also add that when we had the home inspected, there were dead mice in the attic that they had never bothered to clear so it doesn't seem that the services they provide are very good (both that there were mice in the attic after the previous owners paid a lot of money to seal it and that they were never removed). Know that they will leave a contact us reply to any negative reviews, but this is already after having wasted thousands with them & them proving time and time again to be ineffective and inept in their field. Too little, too late. For some background, I decided to give them a chance after a skilled sales guy, Luke Vogrin, came by my house. That is the nicest thing I can say about them. My experience was abysmal from there on. Terrible communication, hard to contact & was near impossible to cancel service. When starting service with EcoShield I was promised that I could cancel my service at any time without penalty or termination fees. I have needed to cancel my service early as the work being done is poor at best and the cost is too high. Upon calling the EcoShield rep who sold me the service he is no longer available or no longer works for the company. I proceeded to call their service department and get told there is a termination fee of $150 which I have tried to dispute and was advised by EcoShield they would suspend my account until May so that I could get hold of a rep to fix this issue. Less than one week later I get a bill from EcoShield for termination of service for $270, so not only did they lie to me when they sold the product to me but lied to me on the phone about termination and suspending my account and now when talking with their customer service rep they say there is no one they can escalate to void the bill which was generated and should not have been. All the rep could do to help was to reinstate my account at a discounted rate of $99, they are money hungry and do not care for their customers, I would NEVER EVER recommend this company to anyone. This company is now my biggest nightmare. I agreed to a one time service when pressed by a nice guy "just servicing my neighborhood." Big mistake. They insisted against my direct notice on coming out a month later for a follow up. $440 charged to my cc for two visits. I finally realize they think I want them to come every month for $172 per month! On the second visit they killed a few square yards of my grass mixing their chemicals. Beware of this company. It's unfortunate that I did not read all the previous reviews to realize how horrible this company is. First, the salesperson, Jake Alt came to my door to solicit their services. I never called them, never asked them to come and do an evaluation. Jake lied telling me my neighbors had signed up. He used a few names of my neighbors and just assumed Jake was being honest, but in fact, none of my neighbors did sign up for the services. I told Jake we had just had our placed treated one week ago by another company and did not need any new pest control service. But Jake is a bit of a con artist and when I mentioned I did have a problem with grasshoppers in my backyard, he assured me he could help. I told Jake very specifically, I was NOT interested in any treatment inside the house as that had already been taken care of. And Jake told me over and over about what they use to treat the outdoors and how they could help with the grasshopper problem we were having. Being the con artist Jake is, he rambled off different plans and option. Again, I had to remind him that we just had our house sprayed and the company we use, we were happy with and we only contacted them when needed and didn't need an ongoing contract. I was told by Jake that we could cancel at ANY time. I see now from other reviews, this is a common con tactic used by this company to fool people into signing. I think Jake could tell how desperate I was to get help for the outside pest problem, specifically the grasshoppers and he took advantage of that telling me he could get rid of them. So, trusting Jake, I signed up for the service which they tell you they are giving you a "great deal" and waiving the fee they normally charge (again, just a con artist) but yet their fee is exactly the same as the other pest control company I was using. When the guys from Eco Shield came out... first off, it wasn't Jake. So clearly, Jake is just the shiny salesperson who will con you into signing but doesn't actually do any of the work despite his "outfit" which make him look like the person who is actually going to do the work. The two guys who came out looked like they were doing this as a summer job and not really invested in pest control. They went through our house, even though I had told Jake repeatedly we just had the house sprayed no less than 7 days prior. And once they were finished... they started to leave! I asked them about the outside, which is what I was only concerned with, and they said it wasn't on their order! I insisted they check which they reluctantly did. Ultimately, they did come back to treat my backyard but this consisted of nothing more than taking a few scoops of something (might have been flour for all I know) and spreading it out over a few square feet. I live on almost 3 acres and had told Jake I was concerned for my fruit trees and wanted that treated properly to get rid of the grasshoppers. Needless to say, nothing they did was of any benefit. I have used sprays I can attach to my hose I have bought from Home Depot that only cost about $15 that are FAR more effective than anything they did. Extremely dissatisfied, I called to cancel. Well, Jake refused to take my call and stop responding to me. I called the company who told me I was signed up for a ONE YEAR contract! And, if I terminate early, I will be charged with an early termination charge. I had ecoshield out for an inspection to get a quote to seal the house, rodents have moved in. I got a quick appointment and the inspector only had to drive by twice to find the house. I was underwhelmed by their knowledge of pests and the entire inspection turned from "help me with rats" to "you need insulation and you have termites probably so your house is going to fall down". The inspector walked the yard and pointed out how i needed to move wood piles off the ground for termites... um, the rodents are IN THE HOUSE. I felt bullied as we tried to keep the conversation on rodents and was constantly moved back to wood piles where termites must live. They also wanted me to tell them the other quotes I'd received and what the other services offered from other companies was. Um, no. The quote was also DOUBLE the other companies with less guarantee time and of course... we have to get those termites dealt with or the house will fall down. No. Call anyone else read more

Customer support is terrible, got calls from two different agents attempting to give me quotes, neither had knowledge of the other. Had to spend a total of 30 minutes on hold and talked with three separate people to attempt to cancel and I have no confidence it actually cancelled. I have no doubt that the people who work at the local ecoshield branch are good people and can help with pests, but the companies business practices are terrible. I was told by my door to door sales rep from ecoshield that "you can cancel anytime you want and it's very easy to cancel". I deliberately asked him if I could cancel right after my first service because we only needed one service and he said the only option was to sign up for a subscription and then cancel. This was over a month ago and we paid $200 for a spray/wasp removal (the wasps were never bothered one bit and are still there $200 later). All of that aside, I reached my breaking point today after reaching out to my sales rep and personally asking him to cancel my service 2 separate times throughout this past month. Today I received a text asking to confirm my upcoming service so I texted my rep AGAIN and told him that I wanted to cancel to avoid being charged and after a month of leaving me on read he says "I can only cancel appointments you have to call the office". So I called the office, told the lady on the phone AT LEAST 6 separate times that I wanted to cancel and each time I said it she tried to offer me another deal to keep my service. FINALLY, after 6 failed attempts to keep me enrolled, I am told FOR THE FIRST TIME, that there is a $200 fee to cancel. I have never written a review like this for any company in my life, but I am broke, just like most people my age are right now, and I can't help but feel taken advantage of by Ecoshield. No company should get away with predatory practices like these and frankly I just hope the right steps are taken by the company to make sure none of their other customers get the wool pulled over their eyes like I did. Any company that needs to charge a massive cancellation fee, is more than likely making most of their money through cancellations. Stay away! Their service is fine, but canceling is an ABSOLUTE dumpster fire. Like, completely, hilariously horrible. They're nearly impossible to get ahold of, but won't cancel via email -- and when you can get ahold of someone, they say they have to transfer you to some other department which just rings indefinitely with nobody to answer, despite you being within their stated business hours. Then after like a week or two they'll email you saying that if they don't hear from you soon, they'll cancel your account for lack of contact -- great! -- but then they'll actually start calling you! The techs and owner are pretty delightful, but the treatment was rather lacking. My primary complaint is failure to respond to my concerns and the absolutely awful process of cancelling. I mean this was the worst experience ever, the people I spoke with were snarky, rude, and not helpful in any way shape or form. I spoke with multiple "supervisor" from some call center and I was so frustrated with their responses and lack of general communication/customer service skills that I actually opted to pay them $150 to leave their company and declined the "free" follow ups offered given that I already had free follow ups included in my contract to which no one had responded. Terrible, awful experience and went from having no pest issues upon signing up with them to having 27 ant piles and several wasps nest that they could not treat since they were on the second story near the roof. They assured me their guy would only spray along the bottom of the pool so that no chemicals would get in the water. Well I look out the window and see a guy just dumping tons of poison directly into my pool. My husband agreed to have the service done and to enter into a quarterly contract, since we are planning to move within the year. When he got the contract, he signed it without checking first, because he is a very trusting man (one of the reasons I married him) and locked us into a bi-monthly annual contract. We didn't think about it again until I was doing our budget and I saw how much we were being charged for each service. I damn near choked at the price. $155 every 2 months? Nahhhhh, we'll live with pests. So my husband called them to cancel and they informed him that according to the contract he signed, if he wanted to cancel he would have to pay back whatever discount they gave us which was $245, but they could switch us to quarterly with a new price that is still very expensive, not $245 but not cheap. I'm extremely disappointed by this situation. I always read my contracts but my husband learned an expensive and valuable lesson today, all because a salesperson, either by accident or on purpose, had him sign an bi-monthly annual contract instead of a quarterly one. Our experience with EcoShield was so disappointing that we decided to cancel our contract earlier than the one-year agreement. They were not providing the service that we were paying for. They kept suggesting a follow-up appointment. They couldn't seem to understand that follow-ups to non-existing services wasn't acceptable to us. You have to ask yourself, if they were providing a quality service why do they have a built-in policy to punish people who want to leave? Whatever they spray does NOT work. We had this company for almost a year, and never got to the point where we weren't finding wolf spiders, earwigs, and other bugs inside, and ants outside. Constantly had to ask them to come back out and respray only for it not to work. When we called the last time telling them to come back out and solve the ants in the yard and tree mulch, the man met my wife at our door immediately telling her that he already walked around and didn't see anything... Scam and horrible service. I called in Sept to cancel my service as I was selling my house. They acknowledged the stop service but came back out twice more four months later after I had moved. Despite acknowledging that I had already called to stop service and failing to explain why they randomly came back out months later anyways.... they still had the nerve to say I owed them money becuase the service had been performed. Didn't matter that it wasn't authorized. You'd think they'd see their error and dismiss the charges but nope, they refused and took me to collections. Spiders, cockroaches and other bugs came back after 4 weeks. I emailed to get a touch-up service, which I was told was free. When the technician showed up he said it was for a quarterly service (less than 2 months after the earlier service). I explained it was for a touch-up, he called in to confirm and then proceeded to ask me where I had seen the bugs. He treated less than 50' of area and then they charged my card for a full quarterly treatment. I called several times to ask for a refund, which they refused, even though they admitted they did not complete the service. Terrible customer service, terrible experience. This company will simply overcharge you pad their profits according to my insurance provider. I made the mistake of trusting them to do some work and took their word that their pricing was consistent with the market. When they sent me the quote they conveniently provided no detail of how they derived their pricing. When the time came for me to submit my insurance claim, my insurance carrier told me market rate was 10% overhead and 10% profit. For my $22k job, I finally got an invoice that showed $3.4k in arbitrary "commission", $4.5k in "overhead" and $5k in "profit", clearly money they put in their pocket and way higher than anyone else would charge - per my insurance carrier.
