Hard sale at the door, sunk cost fallacy got me past their $200 cancellation fee. My mistake, I know better. Initial payment was $50 because of the 'sale'. but follow-on quarterly visits were to be $150. Not a fan of bugs so I got suckered in. Way before the quarter was over (in less than 30 days I think), someone texts me they are coming out again. I'm surprised it's so soon so I contact the sales rep, they say they need to follow up sooner to make sure it's good after the first treatment. I say I am not interested in paying for that, so unless it's included in the first treatment charge as part of the first quarter to not come. Never heard back, they show up, I hadn't talked to my wife about it unfortunately so they do the service since she talked with them when I was unavailable. I get an email saying the service is complete, despite the fact that this time they did not come into the house or basement as they did the first time. I contact the rep again and say I'm concerned I'm going to be charged for the second visit, and I submit a ticket to their customer service. By the way, the sales rep doesn't get back to me at all after I said I did not want someone out that soon, he's just ghosted me. I also see that they have indeed charged my account for the $150. They state it is in the contract, which I'm sure it is, because I didn't read it all in detail, instead trusting what the rep told me about quarterly visits. At that point, I request to cancel and express my disappointment at the violation of the verbal expectations they set. They of course are "sad to see me go" but will need to charge me the $200 early cancellation fee. Incredibly frustrating. This could seriously mess up someone's finances, $150 is a big chunk of change and having that come out unexpectedly could make life much more difficult. Fortunately I'll be ok, but disappointed, frustrated, and annoyed at the poor service and violated expectations without any accountability taken by the organization, and the contract used as justification when it does not line up with what their rep said. Beware. They want your money, and they are skilled at getting you over the line to where it'll cost you more than you expect sooner than you expect, with a huge penalty for cancellation. read more

I decided to try this company out yesterday and that was a big mistake. The guy sent to our home couldn't explain the contract he wanted me sign immediately, he tried to pressure me to sign the contract without reading it. I refused , after reading the contract he got started on our property. Our single family home was recently treated by our old pest control guy who retired which is why we needed a new company. My husband pointed out a wasps nest on the roof of the house that needed to be removed. He was told that it would be, it wasn't. I immediately called the company to request the removal of the nest, our son is deathly allergic and requires immediate intervention if he's stung by a wasps nest. The guy I spoke to was very condescending, rude and arrogant. I wouldn't recommend this company, they want to charge you monthly for services that they're offering three times a year instead of paying each time they treat your house. They wan t you to pay them just because monthly, the technicians aren't able to perform your pest control service nor are they reliable. They hope you're dumb enough to give them $90 a month because they're pretty. Please find a company that charges you for the service and not this company. Zero stars! They stalk our neighborhood in Monument. We have lost our owls and foxes that used to be here. If they are using poison to kill voles or moles, mice the predator animals are potentially killed as well. Now we have an over population of voles. Yesterday a rep showed up and when I told him we werent interested he went around the side of my home and spoke to my husband who ended up letting him into our home. I was livid! They just do not show up day after day making excuses. They used to be much better but they've not shown after two rescheduled appointments that THEY failed and did not inform us. Wasps are an issue in our entryway posing potential issues and they're well aware of this due to my telephone calls. They trespass! I came home to find one of their guys in my back yard and I have no contract nor agreement with them nor permission to enter my property. Maybe 6 weeks ago, one of their guys came to my door, which is conspicuously posted with " No Soliciting" as well as our neighborhood has "No Soliciting". The dude was trying to give me the hard sell before I could even reaffirm what no soliciting means. Like I said, I come home today and there's a dude in my backyard spraying, feels like trespassing. I don't know if this some kind of con or what, but I told him to leave immediately and thankfully he did. Now I don't know how long I have to wait before our animals can go outside. I do not recommend this company!! I had a salesperson come to my door and give me his pitch. I told him I was intending on selling my home soon, the salesperson ASSURED me that I could cancel with no penalty. I told him I would have to think about it. A few days later he showed up again giving me his pitch again, ASSURED me again that I could cancel whenever with no penalties. When I tried to cancel the service I was met with a cancellation fee and responsible for the remaining months left on a 24-month contract. I, like most people will not stand at my front door and read a multi-page contract, I took the APTIVE PEST CONTROL SALESPERSONS word. Which was worthless. I learned my lesson. Was told I could get a refund if treatment was ineffective. I feel like I have more pests now after treatment - tried to get refund, but person on the phone said that they do not do refunds. Escalated to supervisor, they still do not do refunds. So even though salesman said I could get a refund, there is no such thing. The final straw was when a technician showed up at 7 PM, after I had waited all day, only to tell me he had no product to service my home. I had already complained just two days earlier about increased spider and wasp activity (pests they specifically assured me would be covered when I signed up). They also claimed their technicians spend a minimum of 30 minutes at each house, yet during the second to last service, the tech was gone in under 5 minutes. I honestly don't know if he even applied any treatment, he just snapped a few photos as "proof." This company misrepresents its services and provides little to no value. Stay far away. This business is a scam. We signed up for a monthly 12 month contract. They did a great job the first month the next month a different person came and did a very poor job the third month a different person came and again did a poor job I called and they sent a lady who said that was a bad job and that she'll let admin know. The next month the person never showed up at the appointment time sent a msg saying he got delayed and will come the following week the following week no one showed up so I called and cancelled the contract but they charged me $199 to cancel. Aptive Pest Control has THE most aggressive & invasive salesforce to private property we have ever experienced. Not merely because of their door to door hard sales technique but how verbally aggressive and verbally violent they respond to pointing out a "no soliciting sign" but how repetitive they return to our neighborhood repeatedly. Last night was our worst experience out of the many visits of different salesmen. Our encounter was with a salesman/rep named Brent who would not leave our driveway after 3 requests,. He became verbally assaulting, dropped F bombs wrapped around "if I ever see you on the street!" then stood in the middle of our cul-de-sac street yelling from his scooter for all neighbors to hear while he continued the assault. We had to call legal authorities to come speak with Brent to have him leave the street, but not in time to offend two other neighbors with aggressive verbal force to "sign up today for the deal". While authorities were inquiring with Brent, he would look over at us and smile and wave in a taunting manor. As we research complaints on the BBB site, they are repeatedly known for offensive and aggressive behaviors as well as breaking contractual obligations and charging customers CC for cancelling their service or for work not performed. It took me a while to find the name of this company because they don't offer any business literature or cards .. they often ride up on segways or scooters with an iPad and a small logo on their left sleeve. BEWARE! DO NOT USE APTIVE PEST CONTROL! Absolutely the worst company I have ever dealt with across the board! First off, their pest control service did not have good results at all. I had to ask for reapplications because whatever they sprayed left me still with mosquitos and bugs, not to fail to mention, they are way over priced. I cancelled an upcoming service and their dispatch did not tell the service tech until AFTER he came to the house. I received a text from the service tech stating to me... "IT WOULD HAVE BEEN NICE TO KNOW THAT YOU WERE CANCELLING THE SERVICE BEFORE I WASTED MY TIME DOING IT THIS MORNING! THANKS FOR THE HEADS UP!" Excuse me? What? I replied to him that his dispatch should have alerted him and that I did not appreciate his text and I would be letting Aptive know. I called, told them I didn't appreciate the text, which I sent a copy of the tech's text to them for proof, OR their service and that I wanted to cancel the service because I was not going to be treated and disrespected in this way, especially as a paying customer. They informed me, because I was cancelling before the end of the contract, that I was obligated to pay the $199 cancellation. EVEN AFTER BEING HARRASSED BY THEIR TECH!?!? They did not care about the actions of their tech AT ALL. Oh, but they did offer me a free application, which was $150 if I carried out the remaining of my contract. Really? Like I want that tech or any other tech to show up at my house again. They could of showed some care and integrity of just letting me cancel without the $199 if they were going to give me an application free of $150. That makes no sense. Yes they come door to door to sell their services. However we really needed them and it was actually nice that they came to the door even though I hate solicitations. They came the next day and sprayed outside and inside our house- took down 4 wasps nests, set traps for mice etc. they came back 30 days later to ensure the bees weren't rebuilding and took down another next and sprayed again. My neighbor uses them so I thought I'd give them a try against what my gut was saying. My gut was right. The $75 per treatment price (up to 8 treatments a year) is a scam. I was charged $149 for the "initial" treatment and then another $75 before the first treatment ever took place. I'm stuck with a 1 year contract which they require to do the first over-priced "initial treatment" that took 20 minutes. Read the fine print you can barely see when they show it to you on a phone screen. In fairness, the young gentleman who did the work was lovely. Too bad he works for this company. The fee is supposedly to cover the discounted price but for $50 and and 15 minutes worth of work you can easily do what they do. The ongoing monthly fee is $150 (way over priced) and they will try to schedule you every 4-6 weeks but they and when you try to reschedule online there are never any appointments available. Golden was the sales rep. He forged a contract, striking my wife's signature and initials on the document. We've received an official contract with our signature blocks struck through, indicating if they start service we could be charge for late fees and cancelation fees. Aptive continues to send emails, and text messages indicating they will start our services and each time we refuse, we get a new one scheduled. We keep refusing, requesting cancelation and suggesting that this is poor sales practices. Yet, they persist. My husband called Golden and was told that the contract doesn't go into effect until they apply services (we didn't sign up for). Reading reviews, they will apply services and then send you to collections. We have a copy of the forged contract photos and video of us refusing service, and countless hours spent waiting on hold for customer service department that will never respond. If you were looking at the service steer clear predatorial practice, poor customer service, borderline illegal actions like forging contracts is what this company is capable of. We will contact our HOA as well, this type of practice can't exist. We will also be looking into the legality of their practices. These guys come knocking, disregarding the "no soliciting" sign on the front door. They're aware of the local statutes so they won't ring the smart doorbell or leave a business card. They offer a deal that is good for today only, more than a 50% discount off the regular price, can't get it if you call in, it's now or never. Give me a break. When I pointed out that they were in violation of the local no soliciting statute, I was told he only came by because he has a special agricultural license and that they service the chief of police's house. It sound like they think that gives them immunity. Keep your cheesy sales lines to yourself and leave us alone. If we needed pest service we'd come looking, but judging by your review score on here we'd definitely go with someone else anyway. read more

We live in the hills west of Denver. Door to door solicitation is something that rarely happens up here. But, it did the other day. There was a knock on the door, and there stood a handsome young man wanting to take care of whatever pests I might have around. He was from Aptive, and he gave me the standard spiel. I told him I wasn't interested. He politely left my porch, and proceeded down my drive on a foot scooter. After I spoke with him, I wished I would have told him that cold-calling by knocking on doors up here isn't the best way to get business. In fact, the hubbub on the Nextdoor app. about this stranger in our midst was immediate. We don't like strangers on our properties. That's one reason we live where we do. I also wanted to tell him that we've all learned how to attempt to control our pests long ago. We even have a Rodinator in the neighborhood. The neighbor who owns it, offers his services for a very reasonable cost. So, even though the young man who knocked on the door deserves more than two stars, the company doesn't.
