Not sure what the others have experienced that was bad, not my experience at all. Service was great, quiet and relaxed atmosphere- server was super - just the right amount of attention without being in your face! So nice!!! Thanks for that! Had the blackened grouper and it was fixed great! Ordered a lemon drop to go with, seemed appropriate and the first one seemed light, asked for a second with a little extra vodka- bartender delivered and I am grateful! Spot on. Let me preface my review by saying that I travel a lot, and I like to eat well. I got "stuck" at the Wnydham Garden in Guntersville and saw the reviews for Aqua. I was skeptical about the 5 star reviews, but since the options for fine dining in the area are quite limited, and I am literally in the building, I'd give it a try. My waitress, Carmelita, with a Southern accent was beyond personable and professional. The menu looked great. I chose the Pecan & Herb Encrusted Chicken with snow peas and fingerling potatoes. I thought it would come out looking like fried chicken tenders. I could not have been more pleasantly surprised! I certainly didn't need dessert, but I'm fat so I ended up ordering the Chocolate & Peanut Butter Cheesecake. Actually, I took it back to my hotel room so no one can see me make love to it. I really hate to leave negative reviews but want to save someone else that might look on previous reviews and pictures and decide to eat here like we did. I did fail to notice the last reviews and pictures I saw were YEARS old. This place has obviously changed ownership and no longer serves the same food as previous reviews but charges the same prices. Positive the inside of the restaurant was very nice and had a beautiful view. After looking at the previous pictures I was expecting to be served freshly prepared food by a chef with a fresh craft cocktail. That is FAR from what we got. After ordering a martini that was on the cocktail menu and waiting 10 minutes I was then told they did not have the ingredients to make the drink so settled on a mojito. Expecting a refreshing light colored drink with mint leaves I was served an unfull glass of electric green something that tasted nothing like a mojito. Then our dinner came. My salad was full of white hard lettuce. The fresh crab cakes I was expecting were straight from a freezer bag, green beans were canned, and mashed potatoes had zero flavor and completely inedible. My daughter's boneless buffalo wings had a batter that was watery and hardly sticking to the chicken. My husband and other daughter's fish and chips were soggy, tasteless, and inedible. After our $111 bill before tip we had to go get dinner else where. We seriously would have gotten a far better dinner at Captain D's for 1/4 of the price. read more

This place is a hidden gem! Located in the Wyndham Hotel I did not find it at first. Traveling on business I always use yelp to find someplace to eat. There were not many options here. Although Aqua only had a couple of reviews and they were mixed reviews I know how Yelp operates and decided to try this place anyhow. I walked in - no one was at the hostess stand but I headed straight to the bar since I was dining alone. The bartender was extremely attentive and personable. I did not recognize any of the Cabernets they had on the menu - except for one only offered by the bottle. I asked the bartender for a recommendation based on my preferences and she picked a slam dunk. I also need to say she gave me a great pour. I can't stand the teeny 1/3 full glasses of wine most restaurants offer. She also let me know which items were most popular and did not try to "sell me" on the most expensive suggesting some people just do an app and salad - which is exactly what I did. I had a delicious strawberry, cheese and pine nut salad. The raspberry dressing was on the side and wasn't anything particularity special but was good. For my entree I had the seared tuna appetizer. The bartender check with me on "how seared I wanted it". Clearly she know some folks don't like raw tuna. When I was finished I asked for the dessert menu - something I never do but since it was early in the evening I thought I might bring something to back my hotel. The owner chimed in and told me the bread pudding that night was to die for. Although I am not a huge chocoalte fan (in desserts - I like chocolate though), I decided to give it a go. Since it was served warm with ice cream I ate it there. The owner was right - it was so delicious. The bartender asked if I wanted a second glass of wine and I declined. The owner said "Oh no, that dessert go excellent with 'xyz' port." I told her I don't normally drink port with dessert b/c port is sweet vs the Cab I was drinking. She opened a bottle to let me try. Holy cow it was so fabulous and DID indeed go with the dessert. I wound up ordering a glass. As I sat there the bar filled up and I never felt neglected. Enjoyed some conversation with other patrons in town on business. If you are in town - try this place! read more

Servers are very nice and helpful but the food is horrible. They have a fancy sounding sauce I forget the name of for the calamari and it is cocktail sauce and ketchup mixed. The calamari was lukewarm and not very good. I ordered the filet it comes with sweet potatoes, asparagus, and mushroom and I added a salad as well. The salad came out and it was not fresh some of the lettuce was black there's no telling how many days ago it was made because no chef would send that to a customer. When the entree came out all the items mentioned earlier were mixed together. Maybe I'm crazy but none of that stuff should be mixed. Then to top it off the medium rare steak was was less than even rare. I like my steaks barely cooked but this was not even safe to eat, cold red center. Decided to give this place a try based on reviews as I was a little skeptical of a hotel restaurant and the hotel rating of 92 coming in. The 92 rating didn't come from any food related things I should point out. I'm giving this place a complete honest opinion with some constructive criticism. First, it was only me dining, so I should be the easiest and quickest table but this was not the case. I ordered the shrimp cocktail and bacon wrapped scallops along with 2 yummy watermelon Martinis. The shrimp cocktail should take maybe 5 mins to prepare but I got it 15-20 mins later. Although the shrimp were pretty huge but nothing special about the presentation or ingredients. The bacon wrapped scallops took over an hour to come to my table, which is unacceptable for such an easy dish. 2 other tables of 4 and 5 whom I might add were sat after me were served with steaks quicker. The waitress was very nice and sweet and I'm sure if she was cooking, she may have sped it up. I believe perhaps she placed the order late or the kitchen messed up the cooking order. The scallops dish was nicely presented but the risotto needed more seasoning or at least some salt. The bacon wrapped around the scallops were mostly fat and not even crisp, the scallops were a little overdone but pretty good themselves. This place has great potential if they seasoned a little more and added some creative touches with simple dishes like shrimp cocktail. The watermelon martini was very refreshing but I think needed a little more alcohol in it, tasted more like a Pg rated icy but tasty. If in the area I would def come back to try again and the view was beautiful but wished they had a walk out dining deck read more

Very happy to find this place here in Guntersville, AL. After driving from Atlanta to Guntersville i was really under the impression that my only dining options were going to be taco bell, pizza hut, DQ, burger king, and every other craphole fast food place you could name. They are all here! Even a few i have never even heard of. But then i found Aqua which is right on the lake in Guntersville. Food wasn't amazing but it was good enough. The restaurant itself is very nice and I had a great view of the lake from my table. The waitress was super friendly, attentive, and just an overall pleasure. If your in Guntersville be sure to check it out instead of putting that fast food poison into your body. Guntersville needs a freakin starbucks though!!! read more

I must say this has been one of the most unexpected dining experiences of my life! I'm traveling through Guntersville on my way to north east Alabama and I checked Yelp to find a restaurant. Aqua had very good reviews so I stopped. It was like I was hanging out with my best friends! It started with myself and one other gentleman, Mark, and we picked a very fun conversation with Beatrice. Well, Beatrice is the "Queen B"! She is the bomb (that's one of her words lol)! The food was fabulous! I don't normally have an appetizer or soup but it was lobster bisque. I'm very spoiled and the best that I have had was in Miami and I must say, this was every bit as good! The pecan encrusted chicken was great and I just wish I could have eaten it all because I was embarrassed to leave a portion on my plate. Jimmy is the chef, what a great job! He actually came out to meet us and I apologized for not being able to finish his meal. I'm fortunate that I come through here once a month and have found a home. By the way, in our conversations we were adding items to the menu so if you see Jeffery's Marsala or Picata... you can thank me!!! Update: I came back through Guntersville again last night and stopped by to visit Aqua and "Queen B" again but alas, I chose the one night in months that she took the night off... Comp bfast served every morning. Tried it the first morning...everything was cold. Tried it 4 days later on my last day and same thing! The sausage cakes were has hard as a hockey puck. The bacon SOo greasy. The potatoes tasted like they poured an entire bottle of salt on them. Biscuits were good. Staff friendly. This made me afraid to even try the dinner. read more

FABULOUS !!! We went with another couple and were greeted by MS QUEEN B. (Beatrice the manager) She actually waited on us and served us. Dinner was already a success with her spunky personality and helpful suggestions. My girlfriend and I had the scallops, her husband had the snapper and my husband had the pork chops. We literally licked our plates clean! We topped it off with a wicked pumpkin creme brûlée and turtle cheesecake. Needless to say we throughly enjoyed ourselves!!! I wanted to give it 3.5 but not sure how. We had a beautiful view for our dinner and wonderful service. I had the Lobster Bisque which was delicious. For dinner I had the Carbonara. I know that this isn't an Italian restaurant but it is one of my favorite dishes. It was good but not as flavorful as I was hoping. It was a little more eggy than it should be. Overall, with desert, which was a homemade blueberry cheesecake, this is a good restaurant. I just don't think it's quite Four stars. read more

While in Guntersville for the Alabama Tough Man Triathlon, I was searching for a nice place for supper. When I saw Aqua pop up, I was surprised to see it was a 1 minute walk from my location. Further review indicated it is located in the Wyndham Garden Hotel where we are staying. I decided to check out the menu and was impressed. It is not your typical hotel chain eatery. It is a "white tablecloth, black cloth napkin" dining experience. We were cordially greeted, seated in front of a window overlooking the lake, and almost immediately served with delicious yeast rolls and REAL butter! They had me at cloth napkins, but the real butter just sucked me in more! The wine list had a good number of selections. My husband chose Mahi Mahi, which was served well seasoned in a bed of nicely prepared vegetables. I had the Pecan Crusted Chicken Breast in Fingerling Potatoes and Snow Peas with Parmesan Sauce. Presentation was beautiful, and the chicken was perfectly cooked; not overdone and very moist. The potatoes and snow peas were delicious, and a real treat from the usual accompaniments. My husband was able to share part of the meal; the portion was generous. The wait staff was friendly, efficient and attentive without hovering. I overheard some local folks chatting with the server. This is a regular spot for them, which always means something to me when the local folks return to a favorite restaurant. Water glasses never emptied, more rolls were offered (and enjoyed,) and another glass of wine was offered as well. We ate too much to try the tempting desserts, but we may have to go back tonight for more! If we venture to Guntersville again, this will definitely be our fine meal. read more

Never even made it inside the door before my wife and I felt snubbed. 4 parties were lined up at the host stand, but the hostess was MIA. After 9min, the hostess appears. Just before she came out, I witnessed the owner telling the hostess that all 2 top tables will have to wait. She will not be able to accommodate them, even with empty tables in view. After confronting the hostess about the lack of customer attention, she offered a manager. After waiting 6min, the manager/owner/food runner passed us as she was running food downstairs to the hotel bar. She is clearly too busy "killing cockroaches" (book reference) to run her restaurant. We were planning to order some of the most expensive items on the menu. read more

We are staying here at the Wyndham Garden Inn and breakfast is included. The breakfast buffet was good and the wait staff was very friendly. Our waiter Mark even offered to make whatever we wanted if it wasn't on the buffet. Aqua offered a very enjoyable experience! read more

Beautiful view of the lake, soup and salmon very good but here are my observations: 1) pay closer attention to cleaning detail: window sills had food remnants as did my chair, 2) menu covers were worn and spotted as was one side of the menu, 3) salmon was prepared well but the bed of arugula was too much and not dressed properly, 4) Bloody Mary was good but celery stalk was old looking & dried out. Menu stated Zing Zang as their BM mix but was substituted with another brand, 5) menu stated Lobster Bisque but only Shrimp Bisque was available. They need to "tighten it up". read more

I don't usually complain, but this is an exception. I've eaten the lobster bisque here twice before and it was great. So this time, three of us ordered it. It was extremely salty that no one could eat it and we sent back. We asked the nice new waitress to take off of our bills. Then the new manager came and said we shouldn't have salted it (which none us did), in fact one of us asked for pepper in an attempt to counter the salt. When we tried to explain, she wouldn't listen. She said that we shouldn't order it again! How could anyone have known? Wow! I've never seen a manager who didn't listen to customers. She even said "I guess I'll just take it off this one time." Now I guess the once good lobster bisque should not be ordered unless you like salt. read more

My wife and I are frequent visitors to lake guntersville for the bass fishing. Over the years, we probably tried most all restaurants in town. Thursday evening we wanted to try Aqua . It was the best experience that fine dining can offer. We each had the Mahi Mahi plate with a salad and fried green tomatoes . Even our house wine was great! Let's not forget the homemade pecan tart and banana foster that we had for dessert that is made by a French chef .This is something you just don't see at many fine dining establishments. The service was excellent and the waitresses made sure that we were totally satisfied with everything ordered. We will definitely make this our lake guntersville fine dining place to eat. read more

So, to be clear, this is a Marshall County 5-star. But it's one of the very few restaurants I actually enjoy here in town (most I won't return to a second time). The sashimi grade tuna is the only one in the county worth eating and the filet is very yummy. The Alfredo is good, and cheesy, which I like...and I'm even more picky about my Alfredo.
