The short version: I had several leaks in my pool, John and Kenton came out probably 5 times until they found the biggest elusive leak inside the spa wall. Each time they picked up the phone when I called and came out with a smile to make sure they found the leak. John and Kenton are stand up guys, and I would definitely recommend their service! The long version: We purchased our new home in the Fall and my pool guy kept on telling me that I'm losing too much water and he has to add too many chemicals to keep it blue. Come summer, I'm having to add water to my pool every other day to keep the pool pump from sucking in air and burning out and by the end of the week my pool is growing algae. I called Aquaman and they told me to do a bucket test. I did the bucket test and in the bucket I lost 1/4 inch of water outside the bucket the water loss was 1 3/4 to 2 inches per day! John from Aquaman came out and found a bunch of leaks, one near the skimmer, another set around the waterfall from the spa to the pool. John pointed out the leaks and patched what he could. I got a handyman to come out and apply some hydraulic cement ($8 from Home Depot) to some spots over my waterfall that had cracks and the area near the skimmer. I did the bucket test and I was still losing 1 1/4 to 1 3/4 inch outside the bucket per day. I called John again, he came out again, and didn't have enough plugs to retest the spa (the spa has 10 jets). He ordered more plugs, came back again a few days later, and found no other leaks. I was still losing water. I called again. John and Kenton came out; this time they found a leak inside the wall of the spa. They said because I have two different pumps, they didn't test it correctly the first time and could hear the whistling this time around. I started getting quotes to open up the spa wall and was getting CRAZY bids, like $1200-$1700, my highest was $3600 to open up the spa wall and patch the jet. Turns out my pool guy has a friend who gave me the lowest bid of $850. I went with him. He opened up the wall and the leak was not there. I called Aquaman again, both John and Kenton came out again, they determined the leak was further down the line and assured me, it was there. The contractor came back, we opened up more of the wall, and sure enough the leak was there. The ground was muddy probably 3 feet deep around that area. The surface was dry because I suppose the sun was drying it out, but once we started digging around that area, it was super wet. Anyway, Aquaman found the leak, they came out multiple times to my property until the solved the issue at no extra cost, always answered when I called, and never gave up. Had paperwork of the pool having a leak detection showing a leak, then repaired, and then leak detection done again by same company (AMERICAN LEAK DETECTION) showing "no leaks". 4 months later, I own the home, haven't moved in yet.... THERE'S A LEAK! Desperate and needed someone asap, I called the same company AMERICAN LEAK DETECTION. Technician came out, did a pressure test on the plumbing. Then went to the return port of the pool where it was obvious for a leak. He did the dye test, found the leak there, and wanted to call it a day! What the heck!?? I insisted he check other areas like the light, skimmer, and drain. He said "I already checked it the last time I was here, it's not leaking" "I've been doing this for 13 years, trust me". Then he told me to patch the leak myself with epoxy because they will charge me $150 to do it, and no warranty. The leak detection took 20 minutes of his time. And... he didn't even get his elbows wet!!! So I patched it myself, and sure enough, water level was still dropping daily. AQUAMAN to the rescue! Came the very next day that I called him. Very nice guy name Kenton. He spends about 2 hours at my place!!! First he does the walk around and visual check. And simply using a mirror, he finds a crack on the upper inside of my return port. Then he went in the pool, full suite and oxygen tank and all. He probably spent more time IN the pool testing than out. Dye tested every port or crevice that showed crack or deterioration down to the very bottom main drain. Thoroughly inspecting everything with flashlight. He finds a leak inside the light housing. What does he do??? He goes and patches all... and I mean ALL of the cracked or nicked areas for me!!!! DIDN'T EVEN HAVE TO ASK! And then he rechecks with the dye test. Keep in mind, that if you asked American Leak Detection to re-check your repaired work, it's another $150. I got to know Kenton a little better in that 2 hours he spent at my pool. Now this is a guy that actually likes his job. You can tell with the time he spends looking at the details and going the extra mile while he's in the pool. I read the great reviews and decided to have Aquaman come out for a second opinion when we noticed our pool was losing too much water too fast. The first leak detection company, I felt, was not very thorough in their evaluation. Save yourself $450... and if you do plan on hiring this company, definitely do not fall for the "pay cash and save $50" trick. You will need a paper trail because they will not honor their money back guarantee. I called Aquaman after I found a leak in my backyard. Initially I thought it was the irrigation, so I had my landscapers expose the piping in the area to rule that out. The landscapers told me it was probably from the pool so I yelped a pool inspection company and here we are. I called midday on a Thursday and they were able to schedule me at 10 am the next morning. I told the scheduler (Jeff) that I think it's from the auto fill and asked him point blank if I should just have a contractor come out. He (of course) said the proper way would be to inspect the whole pool and they would be able to pinpoint the leak and refer me to a contractor to fix the problem. When Henry arrived, I showed him the leak and he went on to inspect the pool and insisted that there was no leak. He kept telling me it looked like an irrigation problem, even though the irrigation pipe was exposed and not showing signs of a leak. I insisted that he do the dye test to see where the water was flowing and sure enough it was not coming from the irrigation, but from the direction of the auto fill. Henry suggested I turn off the auto fill for a couple of days and "see what happens." Within 2 hours the flooded area drained so I immediately called Aquaman back to which they did not return my call. Fast forward to Tuesday, I've had a contractor confirm the auto fill leak and I'm in communication with Aquaman. I sent an email requesting a refund because they DID NOT find the leak. I received a nasty email back saying "you or a contractor could have figured the problem out yourselves", "I don't think you deserve a free service...that's not fair", "we pointed you to the auto fill". I don't want a free service, I just don't want to be hustled. And that's what they are doing. Now they want to come back and inspect the auto fill line, which is "a service they don't offer". We hired Aquaman to locate a pool leak. Wes arrived on Friday and worked 3 hours, dye testing every pool orifice. He had to don a wetsuit and get in the 50 degree water to get at the lights, drains, returns, etc. He and Kenton returned that Monday and spent another couple hours pressure testing the plumbing. Being in the construction industry(Arbor Construction), I am constantly searching for businesses that are competent and capable to doing a good job.
