I consider the owner Percy someone that cannot be trusted and highly unprofessional. Heard from his other customers that that they had a similar experience to mine, which is he has a tendency of starting jobs then never finishing them. You can call him until you're blue in the face but he will never respond. He started a very expensive job for me and never finished it. I also was going to have him change my oil which I had delivered to a shop and of course Percy never completed the work and kept my $60. worth of oil. read more

Percy was great at first. He was going to upgrade our windlass for us and suggested we do it over the winter. He also convinced us to winterize with him. Come March, it was impossible to get a hold of him - no calls were answered, no voicemails returned. Finally he called me and said the boat was ready for summer and that somehow he accidentally blocked my phone number. Now that we are on the lake, I find that the windlass is not working. I have tried to get in touch with him again and again, but he does not answer or return any calls. At this point, I doubt I will ever reach hold of him again. I don't recommend using Percy. Once you commit to him doing some work for you, he will disappear. I would happily change my opinion of this experience if I have a way to get a hold of Percy again. read more

We were experiencing some issues with the bilge pump on our boat. We found Aquaman online, reached out and Percy got back to us right away. He had the problem diagnosed before We even got to the harbor to meet him at our slip. He explained that it was a blown fuse, and fixed the problem without even charging us! Percy is hands down the most amazing boat mechanic. Not only did he make himself available for emergencies on short notice, he can service our dual Volvo engines. We unfortunately were unaware of the issues with the Volvo XDP outdrives at the time we purchased our first boat. Percy was able to find a marina short notice to pull the boat out, he even drove it himself while we had to work during the week. He has just been an absolute pleasure to work with throughout the process of finding new outdrives to replace the discontinued ones. We will call Percy and Percy only for all of our boat needs. This is my first season as a new boater and I am in Belmont Harbor. I searched Yelp and decided to reach out to Aquaman Marine based on other good reviews. I cannot tell you how amazing Percy and his team have been. After only having the boat in the water for 3 weeks we had a failed out-drive due to a rope getting sucked into the prop over Memorial Day Weekend in the play pen. Percy met me at the boat the next morning and then drove the boat himself for over 4 hours on only one out-drive since the other was damaged. Being that is was Memorial Weekend no other marinas in the nearby area would take the boat in for repair. Percy found a marina, drove it there himself and then assessed the damaged. Percy is certified to work on Volvo engines and as it turned out I had Volvo XDP out-drives on the boat, which I was not aware were discontinued. I even had 2 surveys done on the boat before purchasing and was not made aware of this. Percy couldn't even get the parts needed to fix the out-drive. Volvo really should have recalled this poor out-drive model and they didn't. I feel sorry for anyone who has these as they will fail and your only option is to replace with new ones of a different model. A tail-spin of unfortunate events occurred from there on out. We had to replace both out-drives with different models, the insurance would only cover the damaged one, then the replacement transom shields were on back order...it has now been almost 4 months and although I have lost the entire season, Percy has been there for me the entire way. He got on phone calls with me to try to fight the insurance company to cover both out-drives (and he even did this when he was transporting a boat down in the Caribbean). He offered me the services of his own personal marine lawyer and got me to where I am today. I now have 2 new Volvo out-drives with warranty and we were able to do it for a price I could afford. I cannot tell you how amazing this man has been and I now will be storing my boat and having all further maintenance/winterizing done through Aquaman Marine and specifically Percy only. I cannot tell you how many phone calls, text messages and emails we have transferred throughout this summer and he has just been an absolute pleasure to work with. I never write reviews, but my experience was so bad that I had to warn others. My diagnosis is that Percy may be a nice guy - but he's way over-extended. He was always putting out other fires, so his communication was severely lacking and full of excuses. I caught him in numerous white lies along the way. I purchased an old boat in the spring of 2015 - which ran well all summer. In August, when lining up the storage contract, I notified Percy of my erratic trim indicator and leak by the sensor, along with a list of other repairs/projects for which I wanted quotes during the off-season. I also asked him if he recommended any other items. Given an old boat and unknown maintenance history, I wanted to make sure we had time to deal with whatever we found when we opened it up. I started out very patient. Alas, winterizing and shrink-wrap didn't happen until after the first snowfall in late Nov. and power-wash of the bottom, (which was to occur at haul-out) wasn't completed until late May. Emails and texts went unanswered for months and the quotes (floors, gel coat, canvas, electrical, etc.) never came. He had numerous excuses. I ended up doing many repairs myself - postponing others 'till next year. He finally started on my outdrive this month (June 2016), but then refused to finish it. A week later, my boat was dropped with the disassembled outdrive ("boat in a box") at another mechanic that I found, who is piecing it back together. read more

I bought a new boat this season and have used Percy to repair a bunch of issues present upon purchase. He's been awesome all around. Aside from being very flexible with his schedule and quick to get out to your boat to fix something, he's great about teaching you things around preventive maintenance and smaller repairs you can do on your own to save some money. His rates are very reasonable and, on multiple occasions, if it was some small, easy and obvious thing to fix he would just take care of it on the house. Finally, the best example of Percy's dedication and commitment to his customers came at the end of the season when he found us a great place for winter storage (which was half of what everyone else was charging for indoor) then came with us on the trip since we had never been through that part of the river before. It also happened to be an insanely windy day, and we're still pretty inexperienced drivers, so he drove most of the way there, bailing us out of a few tough spots when barges came by. Anyway, to sum it all up, Percy is extremely knowledgeable, very responsive to service calls, very reasonably priced and goes out of his way to help his customers.
