Yes, the food is delicious and expensive. But the staff have impeccable manners, the seafood is good, they have steaks and chicken dishes. There is free parking and valet parking. The desserts are very good and the portion sizes for the dinner work are generous. They are sometimes not open. The restrooms are rather clean. They take cash and major credit cards. All the staff speak English well. I don't drink alcohol so I don't know about the wines. They do have a vast selection of wines and beers. I have went there with my family several times. I went on a very quiet day, so there were a bunch of what appeared to be regulars at the bar, and the entire rest of the restaurant was virtually empty. I got very personalized attention from the servers, which was very nice. Perhaps it was due to the hour of the day, but we were given a couple pieces of chorizo to enjoy while waiting as well, which was nice. Their bread was standard, which comes with olive oil and butter. I ordered a rib eye steak, which came with broccoli rabe and thinly sliced fried potatoes, almost like chips, got a grilled octopus appetizer, and prosciutto with honeydew melon. Everything was very delicious. The one thing I will say is that the steak was lightly seasoned, so if that's something you preferred to have differently, consider mentioning it to the server, or make sure to add some additional salt and pepper. I'm on a seafood diet, I see food and then I eat it. But in the case of Aquario, actual seafood was involved. What a wonderful experience: delicious food, incredible staff, memorable experience. My grandfather regularly dines here and absolutely adores the owner, Manny, and waiter, Tony. With his high remarks, I knew it was time for me to check it out. Amongst our table, we enjoyed a variety of appetizers and main dishes, and even a few desserts. The first thing brought to the table was a basket of beautifully crusted bread and a plate of Portuguese sausages, which were delightful to enjoy while perusing the menu. My grandfather loves the red clam chowder, and says it was perfect for the little chill in the weather, since we were dining outside. My mom and I split the endive, arugula, and radicchio salad and enjoyed their house dressing, which is avocado-based; both were fresh and complemented each other very well. Main dishes included broiled shrimp presented with lemon and a butter sauce and the combination seafood plate which included broiled sole, scallops and shrimp. For myself, I indulged in the delicious halibut with flambéed bananas...INCREDIBLE! I had seen this on the menu the night before, and was extremely intrigued, but not quite certain whether I'd enjoy it. As I was stuck between options at the restaurant, our waiter, Tony, highly recommended it for a more traditional Portuguese dish, to which my grandfather said, "Tony would never steer you wrong." He was right! The fish was cooked beautifully, and the bananas added a sweetness to the slight savory undertones; definitely a dish and experience I'd recommend! The two fish plates included a potato variety and all the meals included a steamed vegetable medley, rice and beans. There was so much food I had to take some home, especially once I saw the desert presentation. So many fresh and delightful looking options, how could anyone ever choose just one? We decided to try the rice pudding and not only was it presented beautifully, but tasted incredible too. The rice was tender and cooked perfectly and overall it was extremely creamy, not overly sweet and the perfect way to end the meal. Just as we began the meal with the sausages, we finished out of dinner with a bowl of fresh, sweet grapes. Those little touches do not go unnoticed, what an incredible way for the chef to say "Thank you for dining with us." I visited this establishment on Tuesday night I have to say everyone was pleasant but when my meal came the potatoes were very bland no taste no matter how much salt and pepper you put on them so that was disappointing and then when i was finishing the last bite of scallop there was a bone under the scallop i guess from the grey sole i had i cant tell how upset i was with that so i dont think i will be back there any time soon. read more

I didn't get photos of the appetizers because they looked delicious and we were starving. We had the shrimp in cognac sauce. Yum!! The mushrooms (delicious), the baked clams also yum!! A few people had soups. They looked amazing and the response was very positive. The vegetable soup was creamy and very flavorful. For entrees I had the mariscada, it was very tasty it came with a side of vegetables and rice and beans. A lot of food. My husband had the fisherman stew evict is similar to a soupy paella. We waited an hour for our entrees and they arrived with no apology. My shrimp were broiled into rubber. We were never asked if we wanted dessert or coffee. My bro in law had to get up and find a waiter to get our check; we had been there three hours at this point. When he came back from the bathroom and we still had no check, my husband-- who eschews confrontation-- got up and DEMANDED the check NOW. I've been seeking a fish place for years in Westchester county outside of the East Chester one. I couldn't believe that Aquario has been there for 31 years but this restaurant in West Harrison is excellent. The fish, service, excellent nothing over priced. Everything's very tasty and the place is very large. We were in a private room without even knowing it , we were 10 and it was wonderful. I highly highly recommend this long-standing establishment of Portuguese style food is fresh, by all means is excellent, I had sardines, I had lox, I had grouper been there a few times obviously in the recent weeks, so go there. read more

Elaine/Aquario Restaurant was super accommodating for 25 people, gave us private room, and offered a "dinner" package which included appetizers, entrees, desserts, and drinks. She was very responsive, communicated well, and answered all my questions. For the surprise dinner, the service was top notch and the food was amazing. Our server, Eddie, was on his A game. This place was highly touted by my BIL and SIL, and those two eat out a lot, so we couldn't wait. The joint was jumping. The decor looked warm and inviting, like Lincoln Lounge, or Monte's Venetian Room -- murals, old-skool competency. What we got: mediocre food (overcooked lobster and shrimp) that TOOK FOREVER to arrive. I mean, this was beyond belief. And the topper was, we wanted to get the heck out of there already and couldn't even find anyone to get us a check so we could leave. Listen, I get it. It's hard to get help in these Days of Covid. But there was no acknowledgement along the lines of "sorry, your food will be right out" or "apologies, coffee is on me" -- nothing. We left w/o dessert and coffee. Bottom line? We were there twice: our FIRST and our LAST time. There are many restaurants that respect patrons and we'll spend our hard-earned money there, but never again at Aquario. Adeus! read more

Let's just start with the three stars- the only reason it's not two is because they actually do have a full bar and were able to make my margarita very delicious and strong. Otherwise there seemed to be confusion all around. Could not find hostess to seat me when I arrived, some lady that looked like a hostess absolutely had no idea about anything and it took three servers to find my table where the rest of the party was seated. Then we asked for water twice and still didn't get it- yet somehow table next to us constantly had their glasses replenished. I had a se a bass and at first bite I thought maybe it's undercooked. Asked for them to cook it more, but when it came back it still tasted... off. I left most of it untouched and the server never bothered even asking if everything was ok or can he offer a replacement. The side of vegetable was a joke (three broccoli heads, one cauliflower head, and few string beans). For a place that is known for wine... there was no wine list. In fact there was no spirits or drink list either. No dessert menu as well- which was odd. Our dessert was alright but nothing special. Server brought out grapes with ice in them after as an afterthought and also asked if we want tea or coffee halfway into the dessert- again as an afterthought. Between the service and basically paying for an uneaten main course this place is a no for me. Not sure where the good reviews are coming from. Aquario is a Westchester dining staple. It's old school charm surrounds you as you're seated in a most comfortable dining room. Yes - tables allow for privacy. The music is soft and soothing as your waiter - dressed in tie and vest - hands you your menu. Nothing is rushed here as you dine at your own pace. If only all restaurants treated their guests this way. Fresh bread & butter as well as four sliced hot sausage pieces arrive as compliments. The menu is extensive with multiple fish and meat choices. There is certainly something for everyone here. We started with two shared appetizers. The fresh mozzarella with tomatoes and basil was fine but standard as was an order of six stuffed claims. Our main courses took things to another level. Size matters here as a "Seafood Broiled Combination" of Grey Sole, Jumbo Shrimp, and Sea Scallops arrived in a large plate accompanied with mashed potatoes, broccoli and carrots. Everything prepared perfectly - I'm not a big fan of scallops but these easily won me over. The "West Coast Wild King Salmon" with Hollandaise Sauce was another large gift in both size and taste. Thoroughly enjoyed... Note - rice and black beans are also included with both selections if one so desires. With the dessert menu tray before us all selections looked interesting. We shared the moist and extremely tasteful carrot cake which arrived with delicious strawberries and blueberries. Order coffee here you receive a pot good for six (6) strong small cups. At $6 a wonderful steal. It should also be noted a glass of wine here is about twice the size of other restaurants. At $10 a glass - another steal. This was my family's favorite fish restaurant especially during the season of Lent where we used to come every Friday night, until last night. We've even had large family birthday dinners for my folks in the back room in the past. You know that feeling when you're walking into a great familiar restaurant and you know what you're going to eat and you're so excited about it? We'll, our excitement last night turned into disappointment. They have seen the last of my family. The appetizer of "littleneck" clams, we're not little neck clams. Prior to ordering. I asked to make sure (it's a habit I have because a lot of restaurants will serve top necks or larger even when the menu description says littlenecks.). The server confirmed they were little necks but when placed in front of me, they were top necks, tough and not fresh. The clam chowder was tasteless and watery and muscles, although they were fresh, had some tomatoes and onions thrown on top but there was absolutely no flavor. The two fish entrées were so so, halibut with banana flambé and the red snapper, both fish were fresh but flavorless. They became edible after a lot of salt pepper and lots of lemon which we asked for. The rice and beans on the side, let's just say I don't think the rice ever hit the water. For dinner I had the appetizer of shrimp in cognac sauce. The sauce was good but the shrimp curled up into a ball; they were so overcooked and tough it wasn't worth chewing. The server shrugged when I complained, so, I asked for the manager. An older gentleman in a blue shirt, like the servers, came to our table, he got annoyed after I complained and walked away. Then I asked for the owner, only to find out he was one in the same. We were treated very rudely after we complained. We got the check, and headed to towards the door. There was a very nice woman in the front of the restaurant that did apologize but said there's nothing she can do because he was the owner. She was very sweet. I could tell she felt very bad because she recognized us. On a Friday night during Lent, the place was only 1/3 full at 7pm. Now I know why. read more

One of the party's appetizers wasn't brought out and we had to ask twice about its whereabouts before it was brought out... after the rest of the appetizers had been finished already. They placed our unpoured wine in an ice bucket behind our table which we had to get up to get to so that we could pour ourselves another glass. By the time the server came around to pour us another glass, we had already finished off all the wine. The stuffed squid and snails in cognac sauce with linguine were both delicious. Definitely recommend. The entrees came with a plentiful amount of sides from rice and beans to veggies to potatoes. The scallops are served will a dill sauce and are cooked well. I had the Caldo Verde (soup), Shrimp Cognac sauce app, and grilled Bacalhau. At the end I chose to have Rice Pudding which was perfect with that light scent of lemon peel. Also I got an order of Pastel de Nata to bring home. At last a nice Espresso was served to me. As beer choices I got disappointed because there was only one, the same I may find in the beer store.
