I love Lefteris Gyro in Tarrytown, but it's far for me, so sometimes I go to Lefteris Taverna in Hartsdale. At Lefteris Taverna, the parking lot is big and easy and free, and the service is friendly and great, but the food isn't quite as good as it is at the Tarrytown location. If it were, I would be more excited to go here. However, although food isn't quite as good here as it is in Tarrytown, it's still better than the food at most places. Finally tried this place and it was ok. Decent but not great. Service was great. Attentive and friendly. Ambiance is cheesy at best. The fake flowers all over are supposed to be charming but cheapen the place, as do the TV's all over. Big parking lot so that's certainly not an issue. Now the food. Wow the food was amazing! We got the broiled seafood platter and the seafood pasta and could not believe how huge these dishes were and how much shellfish we were given!!! I have seen this place many times in passing, I finally stopped in recently to try it out. I went for lunch on the weekend. The place inside has a nice decor. I was seated promptly. I had ordered a chicken gyro sandwich and an order of fries. The food came out within a few mins. The gyro was tender and moist and the tzikis sauce was excellent. The fries were average at best. The wait staff was pleasant, and plenty of parking in front. I would def come back and try other things on the menu. read more

I have loved Lefteris Taverna first at Ridge hill and now in its Hartsdale location. Service , atmosphere, staff, everything has always been really terrific. Unfortunately today I felt very differently....most particularly about the food. The grilled chicken was burnt and dry. And much to my sad surprise they've changed the recipe/type of fries. I know it sounds trivial but I literally have traveled many times for lunch there...particularly for their fresh, hand cut steak fries. Not the case today. No real potatoe flavor and texture was really off. My long history with Lefteris will be done if they don't change back. And I will, absolutely, call to see what they have before ever going again....ut was that disappointing a meal. Sorry for the off review but it's warranted for changing the quality of your products. There's almost a 30% markup on the yelp menu vs the dine-in menu, even to order take out. I work nearby so I usually order to go. My phone was dead and I was going to order using Yelp's website. After seeing the markup, decided against and hoofed over to the restaurant as it was a short enough walk. Food was fantastic! Will be my go-to whenever I'm in this office. My go to place for Greek salad with grilled chicken- definitely my favorite place for Greek salad!

I have never had a restaurant add an 18% tip for a party of four and not say anything. If I had not reviewed the check I probably would have added an additional tip. When I question about this practise they blamed it on a new computer system. The waiter corrected the bill and I added what I felt was appropriate. When I brought it to the managers attention they stated a mistruth that he caught it and fixed it before I received the check. Then why did my check that was presented to me have the tip added. I asked to speak to the owner, someone went to get him and he never came out to speak to me. I've been coming here and their other locations for years but will have second thoughts returning here with my family. The food was up to its usual quality but service lacked tonight. I've been to the older location and was waiting to try their recently opened Hartsdale location. First time and the decor is different. It is cute but also a bar vibe with all the televisions. Probably has to do with what the previous place had in place. Interior was also cold in the summer so bring a cardigan. The calamari was good. Certain entrees come with a house salad so keep that in mind when you order. Portion sizes have changed and it used to be more. This Lefteris is a transplant to Hartsdale on Central Ave. It used to be based in the Ridge Hill Mall. This is the first time I've visited this location. I've been to the restaurant when it was located in Ridge Hill Yonkers, NY. So, I ordered through a call to the restaurant to have me pick it up an hour later. I ordered two lamb gyros in the pita. One without onions & 1 with. Plus I ordered a Greek salad which was well prepared & comes with their signature Greek Salad sauce. This sauce is what does it for me!! The food is good. But it's not 40$ good!! I thought the people were nice enough when I came to pick up my order. Although I asked for napkins and the woman was about to go look for some, I found the napkins that were literally in front of her eyes. So I went ahead and grabbed a few napkins and was on my way back home. As I said, I'm not sure if the prices are jacked up because they are in a more upper scale area, that area being "Hartsdale" or is it possibly the high rent they are paying for their Restaurant; the prices are ridiculously high IMO. Been to 3 other Lefteris's that were very good over the years especially their Greek Salad. Here the plate had thin dry strips of chicken over lettuce with tiny cubes of feta, a few olives, a partial stuffed vine leaf and little else. Luckily the company provided a fun time but the food... The sea scallops were cut in half, the fillet of sole was the size of a sardine, shrimp were overcooked, the lobster tail was the size of my thumb and only two very small stuffed clams. The food is good but they treat their tzatziki like a pot of gold. To make a long story short. I did online orders for pickup. One time i ordered beef souvlaki platter which are chunks of meat. This came with the tzatziki sauce. Another time I ordered just the beef skewers which is basically the same meat that is served on the platter and a bunch of other dishes. When I brought the order home, I realized there was no tzatziki sauce. I called up and the lady on the phone was very condescending. Stating each of my orders like I was an idiot and how each doesn't come with sauce. For example I ordered the lemon potatoes which of course doesn't. But the beef skewers should definitely come with sauce. Technically its the same beef chunks they put in the platter! Visit# 1: Hello Lefteris- Welcome to Central Avenue. We have enjoyed this "chain" of Greek restaurants as they have locations in Tarrytown (very good), and in Yonkers at Ridge Hill (not so good). We checked it out the other night and I guess they have been open for several weeks now. The good news is that the food was good to very good- Greek salad, chicken on a skewer, spinach pie, desserts- rice pudding and Eckmek. etc. The design of the restaurant is nice as it is fresh and spacious. Prices were fine. The not so good news- Service needs some work- items were forgotten a few times ... Apologies... Nice attitude but this is not brain surgery. To Ownership- You only get one chance to make a great first impression. There was no pita offered to nosh on upon arrival. No olive oil on the table. There are four TV's in the restaurant and we were there while the US Open Golf tournament was on. There was one TV showing the golf. There was three TV's showing MMA female fighting. Do you really think diners want to watch two women punching each other in the face while eating? Attention to detail!!!! Everything matters in the highly competitive dining scene- especially because there is another Greek restaurant just down the road called Anasa and they exude hospitality. Visit # 2: We had to wait for a table so that's a good sign. The service was certainly better and the TV's replaced MMA showings with baseball and the WNBA. Apps were good. The lamb souvlaki left much to be desired. Instead of large cubes of lamb there were thin strips of Lamb that were dry and overcooked. When the cuts are so thin it's hard to have it be rare or medium rare. The fries were just so-so. Drinks ordered at the bar had to be paid separately according to the bartender. Funny how in 1969 there was technology to put a man on the moon and in 2023 drinks can't be transferred from the bar to the restaurant. read more

Flavorful food and good portions. For apps, our table shared the fried eggplant, calamari, grilled octopus and mambialdi. Would order each again, except for the octopus-- wasn't bad, but wasn't great. Entrees: broiled seafood combo, lamb chops, gyro platters. All came with side greek salad and a choice of rice or fries. We all enjoyed our entrees and agreed that we could order less appetizers next time since the entree portions were more than sufficient. Service: good service. It was our first time dining in so I was a little concerned when I read the other reviews indicating bad or spotty service. But we've ordered delivery several times and thoughts we'd give it a chance. Glad we did. We were checked on frequently and always had our glasses full. Ambiance was better than we expected. Cute/trendy decor and a lot of space. Excellent for families with young kids! There is a lot of room so we didn't feel Claustrophobic while dining, and didn't feel worried about our kids disturbing diners in close proximity.
