Joshua and his team did a great job on our house exterior painting. They were very thorough. They finished ahead of schedule and made sure we are happy with every small detail. I highly recommend them

Joshua and team helped me with my kitchen cabinets painting project. They were very professional and know how to get it done right. It is essential to invest time in preparing the cabinets for paint. Aquiles team spent almost 4 days in thoroughly preparing the cabinets. They helped replace cabinet hardware with soft closing hardware which many are reluctant to do. They also helped move my kitchen cabinets forward which many contractors were not able to help with. They totally transformed my kitchen.

Peeling epoxy!

Epoxy floor done by these guys (Gary) less than 2 weeks ago. Followed all directions for aftercare and didn't even move into the house until a few days ago. Floors are peeling in several areas. Gary has not called back to resolve the issue. Very dissatisfied and I do not recommend this company.

Backyard Fence

Aquiles Painting has done several painting projects for us. They are on time and work very hard to complete the job in a timely manner. We are very pleased with how our home looks now that it has been freshly painted and we also had our fence painted which makes our backyard look fantastic!

Thick concrete dust was everywhere in our home because Aquiles did not use an integral vacuum with their grinding machine.

I hired Aquiles for metallic epoxy flooring installation (basically a thick coating on concrete floors) for our Great Room. They had showed me beautiful pictures of floors they had done and a reasonable price. But things started going wrong immediately. First they showed up much later than I expected and Mike, the guy I had been dealing with, was not there. The two guys who were there didn't speak English. I walked away while they setup and when I returned 10 minutes later they were wet grinding our concrete floor and spewing wet concrete debris onto my newly finished Sheetrock walls! They hadn't bothered to protect the walls at all, nor had they told me they were going to do wet grinding, they were supposed to use dry grinding with a vacuum. I should have fired them right away but they said they would switch to dry grinding, but they had to wait for someone to bring the machine. It took about 2 hours for the right equipment to arrive (it's now afternoon and they still hadn't done any work except dirty my walls) and Joshua arrives (hadn't ever talked to him but at least he speaks English) with the equipment asking for a deposit. I gave him the deposit thinking this would speed up the process. I then left to allow them to proceed with the grinding. Problem was that one guy was using a hand grinder while the other guy held the hose of shop vac instead of using a standup machine with integral vacuum. And the shop vac wasn't working well...when I returned about an hour later concrete dust was thick in the air and the two guys doing the work were coated with it, as well as every surface in the house. We had some plastic barriers set up but this dust managed to seep into everything. I texted Mike he needed to bring a better vacuum, and more vacuums. Of course they didn't finish the grinding in one day like they were supposed to, it went on into the second day. Joshua shows up on the 2nd day and tells me that he had bought the right attachment for the vacuum. (Why didn't he bring it to start with?) But I didn't notice any difference, the dust just got thicker as they finished. After they were done grinding I walked the space (with a mask on of course) and was shocked to see my concrete floor GOUGED EVERYWHERE! The grinding machine operator was obviously inexperienced and could not control the machine as there were crescent shaped deep scars in the concrete. They assured me the epoxy would fill in the dents which I knew was not true. Then they showed me a couple of samples of the metallic epoxy in colors I wanted but the samples were on a piece of vinyl tile and I wasn't confident that it would look the same if on concrete. And I asked the guy who was supposed to be the "artist" that installs the epoxy to show me pictures of his work, but it seemed he had never done a metallic epoxy job! At that point I feared they weren't capable of doing the job so I put the job on hold while I called a couple other epoxy installers who described their prep process and confirmed my realization that Aquiles did not know what they were doing. I didn't want further damage to my home, nor a sloppy floor finish, so I hired someone else to fix my gouged floor and finish the job. This other company was able to do that without further mess. I do not recommend Aquiles, and do not give them a deposit unless you are confident they can do the job.

I sent dimensions and a site image and was able to get a quote without a site visit. Our installer was very detail oriented and discovered our wall was not completely flush, which meant that the tile at the top of the wall would be a slightly different width than the one at the bottom. We discussed different strategies for approaching this problem. The zellige we received was also highly variable in quality and color. I asked our installer to pick out the tile in the best condition since we had ordered 10-20% extras and were very happy with the results.

My partner and I even made mock ups of the design we wanted to achieve. Noe was responsive over text when taking down our requirements, giving quotes, and estimating how much material we should purchase which we purchased on our own (though we might have over purchased our material by 20%, I'd much rather have extra than not enough!). Noe handled the tile and grout pick up when it was ready for installation day, and took care of the misc material purchases (finishing metal edge trim, tileset/cement, etc). Adrian and Luis are fantastic installers. Adrian's communication was really top notch (he kept us informed and updated often) and ran through options and recommended solutions when we encountered a bit of a snag with our subfloor and evened it out for us (we wanted to elongate and cut the corners of our rectangular entry way tile). Luis' tile work also really great. His cuts were clean, tiles were even/level, spacing of the grout lines were pretty even as well. I've had tile work done through a general contractor before (they had some rough cuts and some pretty bad tile lippage leading to uneven surfaces) - their quality is nothing compared to Luis' work, our entry way and fireplace with the herringbone pattern looks so good and it matched our mock ups very closely - they really brought our vision to reality! The three of them Noe, Adrian, and Luis really do live up to their company name as Tile Experts and they are very competitive with their pricing. You can check out the before and after photos (just ignore the ugly carpet in the pictures, we have not replaced it yet!) We are really happy and impressed with the work they did for us and would go back to them for any future tile work.

I spend more than 10k on new carpet, but new one was even worse than our 20-year old carpet from original builder that was replaced. Learn a big lesson here. don't trust the small vender. There could be an ocean between the sample they show you and the quality of final product. Go to big name like Lowe's or HD for carpet with decent quality!

I bought a house earlier this year and wanted to do some improvements before moving in. I had four…read morebedrooms where I wanted to replace the carpet with some luxury vinyl plank. The rest of our house already had some laminate wood and tile flooring which I wanted to keep. I was looking for flooring that would match the color of the laminate wood floors of our hallway and living room. Sal-Hai was recommended by a friend for flooring services. I reached out via Yelp and got a response from the owner, JP, pretty quickly. He came to San Mateo from Hayward to take a look around our house and then came back another day to bring over many samples to color match our floors. I found that to be more efficient than me going back and forth to stores like Floor and Decor and Home Depot to try and find a match myself. JP found a sample that was very close to our existing flooring so we went with that. It only took about four days for our flooring project to be finished. JP had two other workers assisting him. They ripped out all our carpet and put the flooring and baseboard in. Our master bedroom had some sloping in the floor so JP worked to level it out before putting the new flooring on top. I impressed by the speed at which our project was completed. It's been a few months and we are thoroughly enjoying our new floors! The flooring seems to be holding up well. I did notice a very minor bouncy area in our master bedroom where the floor was supposed to be leveled and told JP about it after we moved in. However I didn't get a response after I requested him to look at it. I decided we can live with it and it doesn't seem to be adversely affecting the function of our floor. The only slight con I have to mention is the logistics of scheduling our project. I had to postpone our floor installation due to delays with some other house projects (permits and inspection scheduling were at peak delays during the pandemic). I had to make many calls and send multiple emails and texts to JP before we could reschedule our project. I did appreciate that he was able to squeeze in our project in between some big commercial ones he had on his calendar. Overall I will still go back to Sal-Hai if I need future flooring services and am happy to refer him to friends! I thought the quality of work is pretty good and his rates are very reasonable for the Bay Area.
