Loved the sushi here and apparently it's a hot spot as the wait for dinner was 45 minutes. But if you elect to sit at the sushi bar you can usually sit down right away. We ordered a full carafe of wine as they don't serve bottles but the full carafe was reasonable and had more wine in it than a regular bottle. Very fresh food and fast friendly service. read more

Had an amazing dinner here last night with my daughter and son in law. Between the three of us we had the shrimp, chicken and filet. Marissa was our server and Marley was our chef. Visited Mayabi while in Myrtle Beach I had previously done my research about a good hibachi place to eat at while there and I stumbled upon Miyabi and it looked delicious and I will tell you it did not disappoint. As I entered the establishment I was greeted by their hostess which immediately seated my party. We all could not help but look around the restaurant at their decor it was beautiful and I completely wish I would have taken some pictures but I'm sure there will be some in here. We had a small party just my son and my husband, and 2 friends so we sat next to another lovely couple very nice people. Our chef finally arrived and he was awesome he talked to us the whole time did some awesome tricks it was a great time! Now to my favorite part the food! I was completely surprised by the amounts of food we were served! It was enormous! A lot more than what we're used to back at home for the same price. As I write this review I am hoping--perhaps assuming--that my experience was an aberration. Given the comments of others on this site and a personal recommendation from a trusted associate I hope that to be the case. Regardless, this restaurant and this staff completely failed to meet the, "Best Hibachi in Myrtle Beach" expectation we saw on a Billboard we passed on the way to the restaurant--and that is worthy of this exercise. Our visit started with a 50 minute wait time beyond our reservation time. We received no apology and no explanation beyond the hostess suggesting that, "they were running a little behind." Really? Once seated, we were promptly greeted by a friendly waitress. We were a group of eleven including six adults and five children. We ordered a combination of Appetizers, Sushi, and Hibachi. While there were various challenges even in the ordering process, the bottom line is that four of the six adult orders were either incomplete or incorrect. There were three items ordered that the restaurant was out of and we were not told of the outage until the rest of our dinner was delivered. The substitutions ordered to replace the out-of-stock items either were never delivered or came after everyone else was already finished their entire meal. Of course one of the reasons one eats hibachi is for the entertainment of the chef. Ours performed admirably but his side show was little different than so many others we have seen before. Regarding quality of food, most of my meal was to my liking. I found the salad dressing and the fried rice to be somewhat bland for my palate but the house soup was very good. The one roll of sushi I did get was the Calamari roll and it too was good. The shrimp were well prepared and the vegetables were very nice. I was somewhat bothered by the fact that the first thing the chef did to my six ounce steak was to lop the entire right 25% of it which was all fat. The rest of the steak was also very fatty. We ended our night with apologies from the waitress and a reminder that since our party was larger than six the gratuity had already been added to our bill. read more

I don't give 5 stars lightly, but I've been coming to this place my whole life, since it was just Kyoto's, and Miyabi's is a great place to bring a party of 8 or less, be entertained by fun chef's, and get so much delicious food you feel like you might need to be rolled out to your car. Come early (before 6:30) for the early bird special and you'll get all of that at a great price, too! The hibachi experience is one that everyone can enjoy. The rice is plentiful, as it should be, the filet mignon is superb, the shrimp are cooked perfectly, and even the chicken terriyaki is great. I have never had a bad meal here. The sauces they serve up are a must. Most people get the pinkish "mayo" sauce by the bucket, but honestly, my tastes have "grown up" a bit and I find myself liking the food with no sauce or with the brownish sauce. They also have a "mustard sauce" that's good with the veggies, too. If you haven't tried all three, make sure you do, and if you like it hot, ask for a side of hot sauce and they will bring the heat! They also have soy sauce on request and probably ketchup for the kiddies, but I'm not sure. I always like to come early because this place always gets packed right away. They do have a nice bar and waiting area and oh yeah, they happen to have a separate and awesome sushi area! Special Note: If you take 17 Business and go down restaurant row (i.e., you're looking at the marsh and all the awesome restaurants down that street), you have passed Miyabi's because it is on 17 Bypass directly across from restaurant row. When our party of nine arrived at 5:30 on a mid-March Friday afternoon, the parking lot was packed, and I was worried about how long the wait might be. However, we were seated within five minutes. During our short wait, we marveled at the high ceilings painted as a night sky, and a fountain illuminated with a strobe light which made the water appear as if it were flowing up instead of down. Since we arrived prior to six, we bonused because we were able to take advantage of the Early Bird Specials. I knew full and well that my uber picky four-year-old was not going to eat enough to make it worth it to order an entree from the children's menu, so I requested the shared plate charge for the two of us. As I expected, my son wanted no part of the food, but even if he had, there would have been ample rice, beef, and teriyaki chicken for both of us. The beef was fatty, and I would have preferred for it to be trimmed more because the dining area is dimly lit and it was difficult for me to see to eat around it. Teri, our server, was on time with the drink order and thrilled the kids with their beverage orders which had paper parasols, maraschino cherries, and lemon wedges stuck through the lids. The wine list was basic, and two in our party had Kendall-Jackson Pinot Noir, which was served with a generous pour. Our chef was engaging, but not overly so. It has been a long time since I have been to a Japanese steakhouse, but I did notice that the cooking "show" he put on did not seem as long or as as exciting as ones I have seen at other similar establishments. He may have been trying to expedite the process as he saw we had five wiggly children under the age of seven with us and knew we had a fairly short shelf life, or he may have been trying to turn over the table quickly since we were early birders on a Friday night. Either way, the showmanship was basic for a Hibachi grill cook. Toward the end of our meal, Teri asked if it were permissible for my one-year-old to have a cupcake, as she was going to bring cupcakes out for all of the kids. She did so, and one of the children ate two cupcakes, and the the other children ate none, as the frosting and cake had bits of pineapple in it and Finicky McPickykids weren't having that. Teri didn't inform us that the cupcakes cost one dollar each, though. Had I known that, I would have told her to keep them. My friend who was with us took the price of the cupcakes out of her tip. Because I wasn't aware of the cost of the cupcakes until we had paid the bill and were leaving the restaurant, I did not complain about the sneaky upcharge as I normally would have. We all went home with leftovers that fed the adults lunch and then some the next day, so for the price it was a large amount of filling food of medium quality to high quality. . read more

Let me start by saying that I am from Richmond VA, home to many Japanese restaurants, which I enjoy as often as I can afford. Miyabi's is still the best sushi I have EVER had. When we walked in we were advised that it could be up to a 45 minute wait, but something about the buzz in the air, the smiling hostesses, and the GORGEOUS decor told me it would be worth the wait. We decided to sit down at the sushi bar, which was extremely comfortable even though most of the seats were full. I ordered us 2 miss, the Sashimi Appetizer, and the Rainbow Roll. They were literally perfect. We were able to join a Hibachi party within 5 minutes of closing out our sushi check. We ordered the Filet Mignon meal and got the sharing size for $7.50 more than the entree price. I highly advise you try that option, you both get the sample of shrimp, a salad and soup, a scoop of sherbert, a full order of veggies and fried rice, and then the meat is split. The steak was just incredible, perfectly medium rare and bursting with flavor. By far our favorite Japanese style steak house! Portions are large -- you won't go home empty handed for sure! Always get your togo box for lunch manana! We've been going to Miyabi for about 10 years also and we've never had any complaints. If you go with a large group, make sure you reserve one of the tatami rooms. These semi-private rooms have wooden floor chairs that allow you to sit on the tatami mats (sans shoes) but not on your knees -- perfectly seated as if you were in a chair. The Chef's are entertaining and this restaurant is always full. Try to get there for an early bird special. Call to make reservations early! ONE NOTE ON PARKING: If you're coming from the north going south, you must go to the next available left turn and whip your car around on hwy 17 to head north until you get to the parking lot. If you are coming from the north heading south and try to take that first turn in front of Miyabi, you will not be able to get into the parking lot!!! read more

Amazing dinner the other night at Miyabi! I got the miyabi dinner which included your typical rice and veggies but also lobster tail, steak and your choice of either shrimp or scallops.. I'm a huge steak guy when I go out to eat and I must admit that Miyabi might have the best steak in the area..I've been to all the big name steak places and nothing tasted as good as this steak I received the other night. The dinner was amazing as well as the hibachi style presentation. I will be coming back here more often for sure! read more

If I had to sum up this place with one word, it would be YUM! The Benihana style Japanese Steak House where they give you a show cooking right in front of you and your group. Only two of you? You'll likely be dining with strangers but since you all share the experience, you all become fast dining friends. The food was okay but the waitress... not so much. I was 1out of a party of 14 so a waiter handled half of the group and a waitress handled the other (my) half of the group. My half of the group was being served/waited on first. The initial order was fine which included a sweetened iced tea for myself. When I asked for a refill if tea... it took FOREVER to come and when it did, it was piss warm with no ice. I told the waitress that the tea is warm and asked her could I have a glass of ice. She said that she would bring me another glass of tea WITH ice... and she did. However it was not sweet tea. It was UNSWEETENED tea. After the 2 bad drinks (one hot and the other unsweetened) my meal was ruined. Meanwhile the other half of the 14 party group already not only had their dessert, but also their carry-out trays while my half of the party had neither. Upon voicing my displeasure of the service to the manager, he didn't seem to care too much and say that she (Crystal) was new. He seemed very nonchalant. This is the gold standard of Japanese hibachi style steakhouses. I have been coming here for over 10 years now, and the Miyabi's chain is still the best! This particular location in Murrells Inlet is very well run. You will never see a Japanese steakhouse more packed (often a sign of a good restaurant) than this one. The parking lot stays 100% full, if not over-flowing at times. The popularity of Japanese hibachi (both in express and sit-down form) can probably be attributed to Miyabi's, and that's just a statement of fact. The sushi bar has grown to hold its own identity. They have their own service aside from the regular part of the restaurant, and many times people will go there for dinner. The sushi rivals any you would find in most sushi bars in more urban places. The hibachi food itself remains top-notch. The fried rice is still by far the best out there, as they don't bother with throwing peas, carrots, and scrambled eggs into it (yuck!). Instead, you get this buttered brick of golden fried rice, to which the texture is almost indescribably delicious. One underrated part of Miyabi's is their sauces. Again, quality can be found here and you can taste the difference from other places. The "white sauce" (also known as shrimp sauce, mayo sauce, yum-yum sauce, etc.) is the perfect taste and consistency. Goes great on the aforementioned fried rice! The ginger sauce is great for steak and shrimp. The mustard sauce, while good, gets a little less appreciation... but also goes well with steak. If you have a spicy palette, ask for the "red sauce" or "hot sauce", which is a chili-base sauce (Sriracha style). It is the perfect complement to shrimp and sushi! In summary, you will not find a better Japanese steakhouse than the Miyabi's chain. It rarely has a "bad night", unless the service is somehow off, which is again... is rare. read more
