Came here thanks to the reviews and I had some time to spare. Not crowded at all around 8am, all the ladies attending do their job beautifully and care for the customers. Most customers are frequent so there's a nice environment. What can you expect, it's on Calle Ocho! I had a typical breakfast sandwich; eggs, bacon and cheese on a Cuban bread and a cortadito. Entering this place is like entering a time warp. I was transported to a third world country, where the bakery smelled like fresh bread and everyone spoke a language I did not understand. after a lot of pointing and head shaking, we were able to get ourselves a rum cake, a chicken sandwich and some expresso coffee. Other than the fact that my sister thought the cake may not have been made the same day, everything else was delicious. The lady manning the counter was patient and made sure she customized stuff to my husband's liking for his sandwich too. The place is legit. The customer continuously coming and non-stop. The begat with butter press is fresh. Bake goods with chicken is something that I have not tried in So Cal. The breakfast is big portion for the children. Most importantly the espresso is good and gave me a good boast. Wow, everything we had at this bakery was on point and it's incredible how much food you can get for no more than 5 dollars a person! This is a classic Cuban bakery, absolutely no frills about it. You have a wide variety of fresh homemade pastries to choose from and you can see them bringing it out from the back. Each pastry we had was approximately 1.50 each which is an amazing deal. I personally had a ham and cheese (jamon y queso) and beef (carne) empanada and a cheese (queso) flan. I drink one colada by myself and sometimes get heart palpitations. Every dessert they make there is delicious. Try the pastelitos de guayaba that look like empanadas. They make them fresh everyday with menecier (thicker) style dough. Their lunch menu's are the best in the area. Everyday the plates are prepared fresh and written on the marker board. REAL CHEAP! Why spend $20 on the same dish 2 minutes away in Brickell when you can get it for $7.95??? I love this place and the area is booming. Right next door they have a Walgreens and on the other side a really nice frame shop called I've Been Framed. If you get nice with them you can use their guest wi-fi, too. I've stopped by multiple times for breakfast, lunch or just a coffee and a pastry to go. This is an Authentic Cuban neighborhood bakery where you have to try to speak some Spanish. There's nothing fancy about this place and there's nothing expensive about it but it is delicious and quite a treat if you're comfort zone allows it to be. Their "Cuban Coffee" aka espresso is awesome! and really cheap! I can't count the number of times I've been super productive at work thanks to their coffee! Their lunch specials are super cheap as well, you can get beef stew with rice or pulled pork with rice and beans, your typical spanish fare for $5-7, be full, satisfied and not feel like you were ripped off! empanadas, sandwiches, pastries and desert are great too! Their pastries are super fresh, all of the food is made to order, and the service is on point. I ordered a delicious cake for my daughter's birthday, and it was so beautiful and moist! Horrible, just awful. I placed separate orders and the waitress confused all of them when I arrived. Charged me for an extra breakfast. Asked me to take them out of the car and we counted them and she stared at me as if it were going to magically appear from somewhere. Charged for additional pastries which they never gave me and when I get back with my orders all of the Cuban toasts are basically croutons and fell apart as I unwrapped them. All of them disintegrated in the wax paper. Unless you want old crouton bread and to be overcharged for the wrong order, steer clear. I'd rather have gotten Mc Donald's. read more

We were strolling on 8th street and came upon this establishment on the way. I have a love for tres leches as it isnt readily available out in denver. The cake here was only 2.25 and simply put the best tres leches I have ever had. The milk had a complex flavor I couldn't quite place. The staff was also friendly , albeit spoke little english. We got lost in Little Havana Pokémon hunting, this place was a refuge from the heat and humidity. Everything was in Spanish and everyone working there spoke it. The staff was kind to us (2 morbidly obese people from Indiana who have no idea how anything operates). They have a case where you can pick out pastries as well as some lunchtime selections. So, this is my bakery near work and I go all the time. ALL THE TIME. I take out breakfast, snacks, and lunch. Everything is good from the cheese pastelitos and croquetas, to the tostadas and ham and cheese toasted croissant sandwich. I ordered breakfast for myself and my co-workers...and it was garbage...the bread was stale....not toasted....STALE!......all orders were wrong.....one of the orders (scrambled eggs with sausage) was literally eggs in strips and 4 mini hotdogs rolling accross the lanky cold eggs.... the bacon on another order was burnt....and the grease from in burned through the container and spill over the other orders.....
