Not a huge restaurant--there were no tables available so we opted to sit at the bar which was spacious enough - our group of 4 was able to sit comfortably and share some sake without knocking things around. The ramen descriptions are accurate and give you a good sense of what each bowl is like. It tells you the noodle style it comes in but you can swap it out for the kind you prefer (thin or thick). I ordered the arashi ramen - thought it would be a good choice with it being named after the restaurant, but I didn't think it was allll that. Don't get me wrong, it was good, filling, and I definitely loved the extra pork pieces in there! But, the black garlic ramen and the spicy miso tonkotsu ramen...!!! The broth of those two bowls are unique and so flavorful, I was a little disappointed with mine being so basic, salt based. Nothing wrong with that, it just didn't have that wow factor. Really great ramen place! Prices were decent, food was delicious & it came out fast. Had a lot of great flavor. Servers were so sweet and there were no complications, no attitude, or any bad service at all. Would definitely come here again for some comfort food & friendly faces. At the time that I tried this place it was my first ramen experience and I couldn't believe how delicious it was. After I had ramen here I was in search for other ramen places in a different state and sadly I have yet to find another ramen place that compares to this one. It's soooo amazing that I dream of the day I return to Seattle, just to have this ramen again. I ordered the miso ramen which comes with corn, an egg, ramen noodles, pork.. etc I personally did not want the pieces of pork but instead ground pork. They were able to replace it for me and still give me the pieces of pork on the side if I wanted it, but not inside the ramen. They do charge an extra $3 to replace it with ground pork. A friend recommended to stop here for Ramen. The exterior of the building looks terrible, honestly, if I had not received a recommendation to come here I probably would not have gone in. However, once inside, the service was quick and attentive, and ramen was delicious. Their gluten-free option was to sub rice for noodles. The noodles were nice and firm. The egg was marinated well, having a good flavor and texture. The pork was fatty and delicious. I also tried the takoyaki. It was cooked well, but I think they put too much sauce. It was hard to enjoy the flavor of the octopus and fried batter, when all you get is the one flavor note of takoyaki sauce. Great stuff! Although I haven't tried more than a few things on their menu, I've been going to Arashi and/or ordering for a year now and they always deliver. The veggie ramen is out of this world; I could it eat it daily. My partner usually orders the black garlic ramen and loves it every time! It seems a little pricey, but I admit my sense for pricing isn't the best, and the portion size is decent. And it's worth it when you taste the smoothness of the broth. I also love the red ginger! Service is prompt whenever we eat in and we always get served fresh, warm dishes. It's true that you might have to wait 20ish minutes during weekday rush, but I usually order my meals so I don't have to deal with it. The spicy tan tan is pretty good, but the heavy sesame flavor wasn't my favorite--but it was *very good*. Others may disagree. However, the spicy miso tonkatsu is ABSOLUTELY DIVINE. Wife gets my chirasu (I've never liked pork belly), I get extra tofu and noodles. Spicy divine umami goodness. It's some of the best ramen I've had. I went here for lunch today and I was very happy with the shoyu ramen that I got. The broth was rich and fatty, the large slice of pork belly was melt in your mouth, and there was a fair amount of bean sprouts and noodles as well. For $9.50 the portions here are quite generous. They do have combo options (ie: bowl of ramen plus a side such as takoyaki, kaarage, etc) but I wouldn't order these since they're half the portion for only $1 less than the full portion. My friend and I also got a takoyaki to share which was also really tasty as well. They make these fresh to order and you can tell by the crunchy outside texture and the soft custard like center. The octopus in the middle was quite easy to chew and wasn't that rubbery overcooked texture. Two ramen bowls and a takoyaki came out to be about $30 after tax which was quite reasonable. I finally got to sit inside and try the ramen. I have orders in the past to go since this place is conveniently in Ballard. I came in with some friends (7 total) visiting out of town. We were seated right away since we came right when they opened at 11:30am. We all had ordered our food and drinks. The best deal is to get the combo with the ramen. I chose the Tantan men + karaage + salad. I wanted to try this ramen but it had a peanut buttery taste because of the sesame paste. I would recommend getting the thick noodles compared to getting the thin noodles. My girlfriend got the Arashi Ramen + honey garlic karaage + salad. I thought her bowl was very flavorful and the broth was bomb. The overall service could have been better since it wasn't busy. Our waiter didn't get my friends appetizer right the first time and then for the actual ramen she didn't get the right ramen bowl. My friend then had to wait about 7 min until a new one was made while the rest of us ate. Our waiter never apologized for what had happened. I understand that having a larger party a set gratuity will be applied to the bill (18%). This is my favorite place in the city to get tonkotsu style ramen. Be sure to put your name on the waitlist when you come in. The wait ranges from a few minutes to maybe 15 minutes top. (This ramen spot is worth the wait). Once you're seated, customer service is consistent and friendly. My go-to order is the C1 combo which is their house salad and three piece gyoza with miso tonkotsu. I love that bowl of ramen because the pork broth and miso pair well together and really brings out the garlic flavor. The pork belly melts in your mouth after the first bite. I would recommend coming early if you have a party of 4+, but this spot is ideal for eating alone or a double date. read more

As a vegetarian both me and my wife we only had 1 thing on the menu so I can only talk about this one thing, it's a ramen dish with creamy sauce over noodles and a few random veggies thrown in there for good measure. Although not horrible, it was very one note and half way through both of us were quite bored with the it and wish there was other things in there. I have to state again the one dish means no veggie appetizer or nothing so it it felt that that once again at restaurants, vegetarians were a quick afterthought. My garlic chicken bowl was drizzled with a sweet dressing. The chicken was of a reasonable quantity and quality, but the amount of rice was disproportionately large. They have happy hour for discounts on drinks and apps every day at usual happy hour time (I believe 3-6pm, but their website doesn't say or have the happy hour menu...). This is one of 3 locations, this one is smaller, but there's never really a wait unless you have a big group, so it's definitely better for 1-2 people. You can chose spice level and some have thin vs. thick noodles, I personally prefer the thick noodles. The first time I got the R2 shoyu ramen, and it was alright, could use spice. Next time I got the R8 tantan men that's creamier so you get full way faster. Also an option if you prefer ground pork vs. pork belly, but the ground pork sinks to the bottom lol.
