Food and service were great. Staff was helpful and food came out quick and tasty! My daughter was being fussy and the gave some tofu and plain rice on the side as well extra utensils to play with

Good place to get sushi around Southlake Union. The sushi rice was OK, wish there was a little bit less rice. The sushi broke apart and it was a tad bit on the dry side. The sushi meat and all of that stuff was very flavorful, though! Overall good spot.

I finally tried Mikan Bento at around 12:30 on a Thursday. There were quite a few people but it wasn't overly crowded. The space is shared with bleuwitches. Immediately after walking in, we saw the sushi bar, which I didn't realize they had! You can pick your rolls and pay by weight (?) I assume, and it seemed like a good deal. I wanted poke so I ordered on their tablet. The poke took quite a few minutes to come out. Price wise, $14 for a poke bowl is pretty good! It's a decent amount of food too. Definitely a good place to stop!

Wanted to get some easy food to get at the waterfront and wanted to try this place out. You order at a tablet and then they let you know when your order is ready, I think you're supposed to get a text but they just saw me and told me. The spot is nice in the slu food hall right across from bleuwiches which I believe shares workers / owners as I saw people working go back and forth between the two. The food I got was good, also a lot. I liked the yuzu paste on top. The guy also gave me a free miso included which was super nice! I'll have to go back and try more food as I was kind of in a rush to grab the food and eat it.

Mikan is a great spot for on the go sushi. I ordered the omakase bento which comes with miso soup, edamame salads, veggie gyoza, chef's choice 7 pc sushi, and Mikan roll. I was definitely feeling stuffed after the meal. The sushi was great, feels fresh with the right consistency for rice. The downside is that it is slow to get your order, expect 20-30min wait. There are seating area next to the shop in the common area shared with other businesses.

Came here on a weekday for dinner. We ordered at the kiosk and then waited for our food in the lobby. Took about 20-30minutes for the food to come out, but maybe they're working out kinks because they just opened? We got the chirashi, sushi rolls and the sweet potato with creme brûlée topping. The fish was really fresh and the owner was friendly but minus one star because the rice was hard and so was the sweet potato. I think the dessert would have been better if the sweet potato was whipped for mashed and then topped with the creme brûlée. Overall, a nice spot to open in that market hall! Hopefully they do well because I'm such a fan of bleuwiches!

Food - Sushi is alright, but is barely a step above convenience store sushi in my opinion. Tried their matcha panna cotta, which surprisingly wasn't too bad. Pretty heavy matcha flavor with a very jiggly consistency. Would say it's not quite a panna cotta, but was still a nice dessert. Service - self service which is nice and fairly fast Ambiance - no seating directly at the shop but it's in Fairview Market Hall, so you can sit anywhere else

My coworker and I came here for lunch this past week. We meant to try Mikan earlier for dinner when they first opened in March, but they were only open until 3 or 4pm originally. They have since extended their hours from 10:30am to 8:30pm Monday through Saturday. I agree with other reviewers that they are under the same ownership as Bleuwiches, which shares the same space. Mikan Bento has about 20 different traditional and signature rolls. I will note that many of their rolls are fusion, and not traditional (such as the kimchi roll and Mikan roll which has mango/orange dressing). They also serve poke, bento boxes, chirashi, and sushi platters. My coworker and I shared two of their signature rolls: the RAINBOW ROLL ($16) and the SEATTLE VOLCANO ROLL ($15). They also have a new buffet style sushi counter where you can pick out different rolls and put them in your box (I'm not sure how much this option costs, but I think it's priced by weight like FOB Sushi in Westlake). The RAINBOW ROLL (8 pieces) was decent. The albacore, salmon, and avocado were fresh and the rice was just the right consistency and taste. I always love the variety of fish in rainbow rolls, and this one did not disappoint. However, the shrimp was a little dry (also shrimp was not listed as one of the ingredients in the roll). The SEATTLE VOLCANO ROLL (8 pieces) had a nice kick to it from the gochujang. The tempura was nice and crispy as well and I liked the touch of fried onion. The only reason I am giving them 3 instead of 4 stars is that service was extremely slow. It took at least 20 minutes to get our order after ordering at the kiosk. There was a line of people who had done the buffet and were waiting to pay too. Similar to Bleuwiches, they are short on help with only two workers cooking, taking orders, and running the register. Despite their slogan of "Fresh Fish. Fast Bites," you definitely cannot be in a rush. They do not have seating, but you can eat in the Fairview 400 common area or take your sushi to go. TIP: They have HH after 2pm with an all you can eat sushi special for $15.99 (not sure if it's only offered on certain days or for a limited time, but not a bad deal considering one signature sushi roll is $15). I assume it's the buffet sushi, but I could be wrong... Overall: 3.5/5 for food, 2.5/5 for service

Ordered on Good to GO!!! $6.99 end of day special choice by sushi maker. Delicious

Ambience. A Service. A Food. A Price. A Found inside new construction building on Fairview with other kiosk eateries. Across from a sandwich shop. Street Parking is hit and miss or you can park in parking garage for building for $5 /Hr. Got lucky and found one street parking during mid rush hour. 6:30ish Found this on Good to GO. Placed order should have value of $21 and buying for $7! Went to pickup. Hard to get WiFi connection in building. Pulled up app told server and surprised that my Good to Go was made fresh to order. Needed getting a spicy tuna roll with nice size pieces. Very fresh tasting / good rice/ and nice texture with seaweed. Very delicious spicy tuna roll experience. Now- was the value $21 ...no- albeit for $6.99. Still a deal! Suggestion Maybe add a leftover miso soup on side ?!! I'm still a FaN!

The sushi was very tasty, though perhaps a bit too much seaweed on the vegan roll I tried. I came to meet a friend for lunch but I spent a lot of time waiting for my order which was a bit disappointing since she had a limited time to meet. They did give me a a free green tea because their water machine was broken and I asked for water while waiting, so that was nice. The staff were all very kind but I think they probably had too many carry outs. The all you can eat by the pound sushi was also pretty picked over so if you're planning on that, I'd go early as they may or may not replenish it after noon. They're across from bleuwiches so the seating is the same for all the places in the Fairview building.

New spot at 400 Fairview in the food hall. Amazing sushi not expecting this in a food hall. extremely fresh product, real Crab instead of K Crab in the rolls which are made to order. Will be back to this super cute spot the team was friendly and helpful. Will be back

Mind you, this place is just a few blocks away from me but I was caught up in a work meeting and couldn't leave. 3) Tempura - Batter was tasteless and veggies were left to fry for too long (they were mushy). 4) Matcha tiramisu slice - Although a bit roughed up from delivery, was probably the best tasting item. TLDR: If you're ordering delivery, the fish is not fresh, the photos are misleading and the tempura is not good quaity and over fried. I would not recommend!

The way they worded this really rubbed me the wrong way. First, I've never been give a time limit at a restaurant that was not all-you-can-eat. Second, the amount of time I spend in your restaurant heavily depends on the speed of your service (spoiler alert: it was not fast). They then sat us at the most uncomfortable table I have ever had the displeasure of dining at. The table was low and the seats were so deep that I could not rest my back on them while eating. Definitely brought the mood down further. Food was a hit or a miss, no in between. Hit: Garlic short ribs (my partner said these were tender and a good portion for happy hour), Poke sushi roll (good fish quality and taste) Misses: First Ave Roll (sauce was just walloped on top, weak flavors), veggie and shrimp tempura (heavy and soggy batter), pink lychee cooler (artificially sweet with no strong lychee flavor), green tea tiramisu (photo speaks for itself). For all the rave reviews, I was pretty let down. Thankfully, we went during happy hour so we didn't pay full price. I would not visit here again.

I got a hard alcohol I wasn't used to getting. It was fun and it was quite good! It was Shochu which is a distilled beverage and involves sweet potato. We made a reservation for dinner but they only had the tables available, not the bar. The inside is really nicely laid out and our table was in a side where we could see the sushi chefs preparing the pieces. We even saw Chef Kashiba himself while we were there! We of course got the omakase, which was a total of 22 pieces including non-sushi bites. The appetizer trio consisted of sashimi, bamboo, and a radish puree - while we loved the sashimi, the other two were just ok. The next course was a toro handroll which we thought was a bit odd since that usually comes later towards the end in omakase. The fish was fresh, but the seaweed was a little thick and chewy. Onto the next plate - 5 pieces of nigiri with my favorites being the otoro and sea bream. Special shoutout to the albacore as well (I've never had albacore so soft!). After this one, the 6 piece nigiri were a hit or miss - while I LOVED the kanpachi (probably my favorite piece of the night), some of the seared ones didn't feel that fresh or flavorful. We then got the chawanmushi which I actually really loved, and I'm thankful they were able to substitute the shrimp with rockfish for my allergy. Finally, for the dessert course we got some miso soup, a fried anago nigiri, and for me oranges (instead of the egg due to my shrimp allergy). I did think it was odd to get miso soup last, but the anago was really good and the oranges were nice and fresh. Overall, there were definitely some standout pieces (kanpachi, toro, and chawanmushi) but the overall omakase experience felt a little disjointed. I'm glad to have finally tried this spot though - the location is beautiful and definitely still worth a visit for the legacy!
