Fantastic Ramen. Best I have found yet in Seattle. Their spicy miso pork broth is beyond addicting. I can't find another ramen place that has such a rich broth that tastes like it has been cooking for days. Their extras are great, service always very friendly, and a very clean environment. My only reason it's not 5 star is the space itself. It's awkward and very cluttered. Clean up all the knick knacks and bad posters and make it more warm and inviting. It looks junky but the food is killer. No wonder they do such a brisk take out business. I will do that from now on. read more

I had waited patiently in anticipation for them to finally open and I was not disappointed. Personally, I think they are better than Kizuki (Kukai chain). Their broth is rich and flavorful and their noodles are fresh. They put just enough garnishes, but don't overwhelm you with too many ingredients. I got the Spicy Tan-Tan Men and it was splendid. Good portion size that doesn't leave you totally stuffed, but rather satisfied that you had the right amount of food. The lunch rush is pretty brutal though, so make sure you either get there early or go during off-peak times. Kizuki does make a better gyoza, I will give them that. But otherwise, this is probably the best ramen shop in Seattle. read more

$11.5 for spicy miso tonkatsu ramen. The portion size is HUGE, definitely seems like more than other ramen stores. The soup was also really flavorful and the thick noodles were a great texture. I just wish it was more spicy: On the menu they had a disclaimer saying that their spicy paste is EXTREMELY spicy and to use caution, but I got the highest spice level and couldn't taste it. Yum! Loved this place. Came in and had gyoza from the happy hour menu- it was so good we ordered another serving. For ramen, I ordered r1 and added corn. Super tasty, left extremely satisfied. The only reason I gave this place 4 stars was due to the space itself. Whether ramen is something you rarely think about or crave daily, Arashi Ramen will more than satisfy. The Spicy Tantan Men (which I get with seaweed and an extra egg), in particular, blows me away, as does the Black Garlic Ramen. Portions run on the larger side, the noodles are perfectly cooked to a toothy chew, the broths are expertly flavored without being too salty (a fault I find in many other ramen establishments), and the combinations flatter and enhance each other. Friends and family who have sampled Arashi Ramen's other dishes have come away with similar satisfactions. This is delicious comfort food at its best. Arashi Ramen is a tiny place which can lead to lines during meal times, and their stools are a bit uncomfortable, but the food and service are so superb it makes those minor issues meaningless. from a noodle lover: we ordered the Arashi ramen, and a spicy one... the pork was pretty good, a little sweet. But the noodle and soup base were just mediocre. I love ramen. I really, really love it during cool, rainy weather. My SO and I visited the other night. Typical ramen house beer selection. Pork buns were solid. Ramen came out hot. Broth was great. Spicy and garlicky and perfect. The noodles are cheap and it's noticeable, though. Tasted like 10 cent packaged noodles. If you care about the noodle, find another spot. If you focus on good broth, you'll be pleased. I'd go back. read more

I'm so happy this is in Ballard! There is a wait if you go at popular dining times, so plan accordingly. I won't exaggerate about how good it is, but good ramen is hard to find in Seattle (vs. San Francisco, or Richmond B.C.), and this is pretty good. On a lively Seattle evening I sought nourishment in the Ballard neighborhood together with close companions. We looked into one establishment only to find the wait to be extensive and, while we would've like to be patient, our empty tummies refused to oblige. We happened upon Arashi Ramen while looking at our alternative options and it looked so inviting that we couldn't resist strolling inside. We were quickly offered seats at the bar by the windows and in practically no time at all we each pinpointed our ideal suppers from the menu. The service was swift and our appetites thanked the stars once our ramen bowls were placed in front of us by the charming waitstaff. I myself chose the spiciest option and was over the moon with gratitude to discover it truly did pack a punch. The spicy broth and tender noodles were a perfect marriage and I was thoroughly satisfied. My fellow diners were similarly as thrilled with their choices and we each had nothing but compliments to share as we continued to consume our well-composed meals. I have a family of five and we decided to try this place given the glowing reviews. I ordered the spicy miso ramen and while I do tend to eat salty foods due to my culture, the sodium in this was just too much. I couldn't finish it and it honestly was just plain bland as if it had been stewing all day, plus the bill was almost $100! We've never paid that much at any other restaurant for the same amount of people. We could have saved $40 at any of our favorite restaurants in the area. The seating area is very small so don't come here if you have more than 3 people, otherwise you will be charged quite a bit for a service fee. Maybe the food would have been better if we came earlier in the day, I don't know, but it just wasn't a good experience. You may have a better experience than we did, but personally, I will never come back. read more

Arashi is my favorite ramen place in Seattle. I always order the Spicy Miso Tonkotsu. The broth is very flavorful and it's the perfect dinner on a cold rainy day. I order mine at Spicy (medium) at it's the perfect amount of heat. The service is always impeccable and quick. Dropped into this new Ballard ramen place for the first time and it was great! I had the miso tonkotsu and it was everything I hoped it would be! The location is great it is right off of market street and the customer service is excellent! We came in as soon as they opened for dinner and it was already starting to fill up, so plan accordingly. They also offer takeout which is great if you can't find a seat. They do not charge extra for the egg in the miso which is nice and the overall price is a great deal. The first time I went here I ordered the Tan-Tan men with extra noodles and I have been back at least once a week. The noodles are solid and the broth is so rich and delicious. I've been to Bestsutenjin and they had a great shrimp broth ramen but the Tan-Tan men at Arashi is hard to beat. read more

I've been watching the signs and waiting for this place to open. I had the spicy miso tonkotsu. My wife had the spicy tantan men. Both were quite good, though I think I might get 'mild' rather than 'hot' so that I can appreciate the broth more next time. I haven't had plum wine in forever, and the ones they serve come in cute single-serve bottles. It had a great plum flavor and worked well with the spiciness of the broth. I really enjoyed the shoyu tonkotsu and the takoyaki. I really like takoyaki, so it was nice to be able to come here and have some. I'm not as much a fan of the honey garlic karaage. It's decent, but not something I'd recommend. The restaurant is a bit small, but it is very nice with a clean restroom. The servers are very nice and attentive. There are small tables that can be pushed together, but I imagine it'd be a bit awkward for groups larger than 4, nonetheless. read more
