I just talked to Hans and I have a potential repair on my oven/microwave combo unit. Over the phone I told Hans the situation - 15 year old Kitchenaid and the control panel wasn't working. He said the money you would have to pay to repair it isn't worth it and that an oven microwave combo is not a good idea because the microwave gives out well before the oven. In other words, he gave good advice that caused him to not have the job. That is honesty big time and I can promise you I will be calling Hans anytime any appliance breaks and I need to repair it. In a flash, Hans diagnosed the problem with my oven and got it repaired with replacement parts right away. Hans' services were more than worth the expense considering what the cost of replacing a range is. Further, he even provided some terrific advice and explanation for problems I was having with my dishwasher. His solutions cleared it up right away instead of the dishwasher seemingly getting worse and worse -- something that likely could have cost me thousands of dollars to replace. I am self employed, calling back potential customers is a big deal even if you are too booked to help, a call back is much appreciated. He went the extra mile to get the job done, and then generously gave me his advice on what appliances to avoid in the future (ones that will fall apart within a year or 2.. cough cough LG), and answered my questions about the other appliance we have. We have a liebherr fridge. If you haven't heard of that brand, you're not alone. No one and I mean NO ONE could fix that freaking fridge. Not even Liebherr - when I called their US service center, they could not recommend a single repair person in CA. Thank God for Hans! Hans is great. Very friendly, communicates what he's going to do, how it's going to happen and follows what he says. Our fridge had an issue with defrosting. He showed up when he said he would, found the problem quickly and explained why it was an issue. A new part was ordered and expected to arrive within a day or two. The part was on back order. This caused an extra trip to our home to defrost the fridge again. Hans did this without charging. This is definitely who I'm calling if I have another issue with an appliance. read more

Five stars all the way . Hans was fantastic! We purchased a refurbished washer and dryer set three years ago and the dryer stopped working and the washer spin cycle wouldn't go so we looked around for a good appliance repair in town and found Hans on yelp. We called him and were so glad we did! Not only did he have a reasonable upfront price but he listened to our problem and was able to tell us what he thought was happening.... something that the other appliance repair company's didn't or couldn't do. I really felt comfortable with him because he knew what he was doing . he took a look at our appliances and told us not to get them repaired because they were cheap to. begin with. He even said he felt bad even taking money for his time because there wasn't anything he could do except charge us upward of $200 fixing a washer and dryer that cost us $400 combined three years ago..I really appreciated his honesty. It's rare to find a business owner that honest and not just out to make a Buck. He was kind enough to clean them and gave us advice on how to keep them going for as long as we could then gave us recommendation for some quality appliances we will purchase when these give up. I was so pleased with the service provided by Hans in fixing my dishwasher. He has many years of experience so he clearly knows what he is doing. Equally important to me is that he is kind and very reliable. He was on time, followed up with me between our two appointments and would return my calls within an hour! Who does all that?? Hans repaired our over 10 year old Neptune Washer last week. He came exactly when he said that he would...twice! After the 1st visit, he fixed what he thought might be the problem, and it worked -- for 1 load. Since he guarantees his labor, I called him back, and had the washer spin while he was on the phone. After hearing the noise (which it didn't make when he was there the 1st time), he came later that same day and fixed the problem for good. I love that he told me on the phone before he came the 1st time that because it was an old washer, there were some problems not worth fixing. A reliable, honest, knowledgeable, and kind guy. Our refrigerator expired two days before Christmas. Hans was closed for the season. He said he'd nevertheless come over quickly to "try to save the frozen food". He installed a new part and that confirmed that the compressor was toast! He gave us a list of brands he liked and a couple of of "I would not get one of these" brands! his fee was more than reasonable for this emergency call. Very impressive knowledge!! I recently had reason to think my small 10 month old freezer had stopped running, so I contacted Hans Kurz and he came by. I was pretty sure it was a total loss, but Hans recognized that it had probably stopped running during an electricity spike, and that it needed about half an hour unplugged before it would turn on again. I had never heard of that, so had unplugged it and then plugged it back in immediately. He was very articulate about explaining the how and why. So I highly recommend him!! read more
