Visited in mid July on a whim while camping near by. There was a line to order but moved quickly and was able to enjoy the views from a picnic table while waiting for food. It's not fancy, but it's just what a lobster place should be. We had a whole lobster, a lobster roll and onion rings. Now we have tried a lot of lobster rolls over the years but this was first time one was topped with whole claw meat. Already dreaming of a return trip well worth the wait.

Unmatched views. Delicious food. Friendly staff. What are you waiting for? Visit today!

Another 10/10 experience! We came last summer and couldn't wait to come again. It was a cloudy afternoon but the lobster rolls were excellent and we just love the casual atmosphere! Cold Maine beer, fresh lobster, friendly staff, what more could you ask for!

I think this was a fabulous stop..we were headed out of town and on a early August day with some overcast and grey menacing skies, we stopped so that I could devour a 3 lb lobster by myself..something that is easy for me to do. Lee had whole belly clams. Maybe it was an off hour, there were only a handful of other people there.. We sat out back under a huge awning, and there were self serve utensils, water and a porta potty on the side. I think fairly priced. View of the sea. Lovely visit.

I really appreciated the Gluten Free options, including a GF Lobster or Crab Quesadilla. Very friendly and clean restaurant. And dog friendly!

Enjoyed the BEST lobster of my life today at Archie's Lobster. This former lumber yard converted to a lobster house served large, succulent, moist chunks of lobster meat, along with corn on the cob and potato salad. What made this the best? A combination of freshness and softness. A lot of lobster, by the time you eat it, is tough and needs scads of butter to be tasty. At Archie's there is a generous amount of meat and it is still super tasty with or without butter. I also enjoyed the sumptuous cup of clam chowder. The atmosphere was superb - picnic tables with a sweeping view of the water and a funky aesthetic. I dug the graffiti on one of the walls, beckoning you to Archie's Lobster. Betsy, who waited on me, couldn't have been nicer. Heather, the co-owner, chatted with me afterward and answered my many questions about lobster production. I wish I had gotten to meet Troy, Heather's husband and the other co-owner, to tell him personally that his catch was the best I've had eating 40 years of lobster. Check this out if you're in the Bar Harbor area!

We come to MDI about every 3 to 5 years. This was the first time we stumbled across Archie's, it recently opened, and we love their outdoor setup along the ocean. When coming to this area you have a lot of lobster places to choose from. This one stands out with it's picnic style setup along with some magnificent ocean views. The typical lobster meal came with corn, bread, potato salad and your choice of size of lobster (price varies per market $$$). In general, it was around $20-$35 per meal based upon lobster weight. Service was great and the views were amazing. My only knock is some places offer blueberry cake with their lobstah!

We stopped by Archie's during the shoulder season in early September. It was mid afternoon and there were few customers at the unusual time we stopped, but it was clear based on seating they get quite a crowd! The location is right on the water and it gives off a vibe that is laid back and suiting for a lobster pound. I ordered a lobster roll with butter and a side of fries. A bag of chips was also included. The cost for the lobster roll is rather steep and naked vs butter vs mayo pricing doesn't seem to make sense given the minimal cost per roll, but there was a generous amount of lobster for the size of the roll. The flavor was fairly mild, but it was clear it was fresh. The claws were of course a touch sweeter and packed more flavor. Overall, if you enjoy a lobster roll I recommend Archie's.

Gem found by accident. Like we were Family !!! Drove down to another Lobster place (that was CLOSED) and found this Gem. Super nice family run Lobster Pound - with Picnic tables outside on Bass Harbor. So laid back and glad we found. The staff was awesome and very attentive. SHOUT OUT TO Kacey. She took the time and showed us how to get everything out of the Lobster. She came back a few more times to make sure we were good. SO NICE and fun to talk to. Like we were Family. There was Corn Hole and other games too. Thank you ARCHIE's - we will be back.

Loved the outdoor atmosphere! Right on the water, toys for the kids, picnic tables along with tables and chairs. The lobster roll was fresh, bun slightly toasted and good fries too! Would definitely come here again. We went on a Monday in Sept around 4-430 and we got right in and fast service. Started to pick up as we were leaving.

We showed up on a Saturday at 5 o'clock end of August and got right in at Annex which is the same menu and attached. Waiters were helpful and kind, amazing people! Live music was going on at 7 but we left right before, awesome vibes doors to the outside open so it was basically an open air concept since it was a beautiful day. Clam chowder: super delicious and passed the spoon test! (I like my chowders thick so a spoon should float on top) Bangin Shrimp: seasoning and sauce were bangin! Great stuff and the buttery grilled flamed pita added a beautiful touch Cadillac fries: crispy fries with melty cheese, hot sauce, bbq sauce, chipotle mayo and toooed with bacon. We inhaled these. Mac + rac: fall off the bone rips and the Mac was killer. Mixed in with street corn added a great change up and all went so well together. Larger shells cooked perfectly and super cheesy, this was a great dish. Highly recommend, wish I could have tried the Blueberry Pie because that looks insane, was way too full after crushing the other dishes and washed down with a blueberry beer and an extra dirty martini!

However, we weren't too tired to eat it, so we had the food delivered from Side Street Cafe. So glad we did it that way cuz it was terrific... and easy to arrange ! My hubby ordered their Cubano sandwich while I ordered a cheeseburger. He loved his Cubano, which came with a side of mac 'n cheese. The mac 'n cheese was light in flavor, I think because of the kind of cheese used. I prefer more flavor, but it wasn't bad either. My( burger was quite large, and it was really tasty... very nicely seasoned beef patty, and it had all the things I like... cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle.... and catsup. I was very happy. It came with fries, but I had my fill of fries with all the lobster rolls I had ordered along the way, so I didn't eat them. Plus, there was a slice of blueberry pie calling out to me, so I wanted to blow my calories with the pie... and so glad I did cuz it was another spectacular piece of blueberry pie. Against my will, I split it with my hubby. Lol. It was a great way to end our meal. (Turns out we never got dinner that night cuz we were so full from such a nice lunch.) Side Street Cafe is definitely going on my radar if we're ever fortunate enough to return to Bar Harbor.

So here's our recent experience, down to the minute! (Click on individual photos below for more details). We arrived at the parking lot at about 10:30AM on Tuesday August 26. I counted 30 folks on line ahead of us at 10:35. The first was positioned at the foot of the bridge on the parking lot side. At 11:00AM, I turned around and counted 50 folks behind us! An employee came out and started walking down the line, taking names and party sizes. At 11:10, they sent the "first wave" of 25 people over bridge. They explained they don't want folks waiting on the middle of the bridge, so they only send over as many as they can easily handle in the Ordering area. At 11:25, they sent over a "second wave" including my party. I got to the Ordering Counter and placed my order at 11:45AM. The food started coming out to our table shortly after. Salad right away, soup next, then the fried chicken basket. We finished our lunch right around 12:45, and as we went back across the bridge, I counted about 25 folks on line. So there were actually much fewer people at 12:45 then at 10:45. (Of course, all the dining tables were full, so people were likely being seated much slower that during the initial big opening). The entire experience and food was terrific as many others have posted! The stated "Open Hours" are Tuesday to Saturday, 11:00 to 2:30. I asked if they really went to 2:30PM, and a staffer said yes, but you probably would not want to show up too much later than say 1:30 to avoid being rushed or finding some items sold out. Someone else posted in this group that staffers have said 1 to 1:30 is a very good time to show up. As for dates, I've heard lunch service will run into October, but I don't know a specific date and that's been addressed in other posts (a search in this group for "October" will likely do the trick). Our Lunch: Heirloom Tomatoes - Fresh Burrata, Basil, Charred Lemon Vinaigrette, Flaky Salt   Carrot & Coriander Soup - Bread & Butter   Summer Caesar - Farm Fresh Romaine Head, Purple Basil, Pecorino, Toast Crumbles   Cornflake & Fennel Pollen Fried Chicken - Cabbage Slaw, Homemade Biscuit & Honey Butter   Blueberry & Peach Shortcake - Candied Ginger, Whipped Cream

We started our meals with a half dozen oysters on the half shell and an order of the fish cakes. Both were fresh and delicious. Especially the oysters!! Next up came our entrees. I had the Clam Pasta and my wife enjoyed the macadamia encrusted local haddock. Both dishes were prepared perfectly, my only regret was no fresh bread to sop up the delicious butter sauce. My pasta was delicious, and the clams burst with flavor. I sampled the haddock and it was perfect as well. It was accompanied by locally grown zucchini and soft mashed potatoes. We left room for dessert and enjoyed a wonderful slice of orange sour pie. The ginger bread crust was to die for, and it was topped with fresh whipping cream and a zest of orange.
