    Beautiful sunset from my table
    Courtney P.

Looking for a bite to eat within walking distance of my bed and breakfast, I found myself at Beal's lobster pier on a Monday night. The line was long, but it moved quickly and the service was fast and friendly. Since I had eaten a later lunch, I wasn't necessarily starving, but I did still want to enjoy some fresh lobster. I settled on the lobster bites which were deep-fried pieces of lobster, and a slice of blueberry cheesecake - because, when in Maine!! Talk about a decadent girl-dinner. The fried lobster bites were absolutely delicious and the accompanying dipping sauce was creamy and paired perfectly. The blueberry cheesecake had the perfect amount of blueberry while still maintaining the integrity of the cheesecake. Definitely one of my favorite dinners I had while visiting the area and would absolutely come back and visit Beal's lobster pier again. Bonus points for getting to enjoy a beautiful sunset on the pier while I had my meal.

Without a doubt, after visiting 8 different lobster roll spots up and down Maine - THE BEST ROLLS in the state. Absolutely incredibly views eating, quick service after you order at the counter. The lobster meat itself felt like it was caught 30 minutes prior the menu is a bit bigger than other spots they offer a lot of different sauces but I just went with the regular butter. It was so incredibly good. Perfect bun. Thick chunks of sweet lobster meat, a succulent claw. It was incredible.

We had lunch here yesterday and the food was so good we decided to come back for dinner tonight. We ordered a dozen oysters, lobster rolls, lobster Mac & cheese sandwhich, and a slice of blue berry pie. Everything was delicious! I also want to applaud the staff for the service, everyone was so nice and helpful! I highly recommend this spot!

After looking at the options in and around the Bar harbor area, we saw great and consistent reviews (food and value) for Beals. We had already planned to be in Acadia National Park so this worked out well. Beals in located in the Southwest Harbor area of the park...not far from Bass Harbor and the Bass Harbor Lighthouse. We did stop by one our first day for mid-week dinner (late August) but there was a bit of a line so we delayed our visit for lunch the following the day. We arrived there around 12pm (They open at 11am) the following day and there were only a few people on line...which moves pretty fast by the way. There is a smaller parking lot with about 10 spaces immediately outside of Beals...but there is a larger area adjacent with spaces for another 20 vehicles. We did have to wait a few minutes before a space opened up despite the minimal crowd at Beals...I suspect parking during the peak (later in the afternoon/dinner) times is challenging and you may have to wait longer for space to become available. You wait on line and can view the clear and vast menu on the board. If you intend of having a fresh boiled lobster, a person there takes your order (the requested weight) and chooses a lobster from the tank right there. You then proceed to the register where you can add all of the other items including drinks. You pay and then make your way to your assigned table. (You can choose indoor/outdoor/shaded) We had a lobster (2lbs - ~$40), haddock and chips (~$24), shrimp and chips (~$24), corn, cornbread and chicken fingers (~$10). The food took about 20 minutes or so...which was great given that the food (and lobster) was made fresh to order. Everything was really good...everything! There is a small area where you can get utensils, condiments and take-home containers if desired. There is also a bar area where you can get additional drinks if desired. There are bathrooms in a separate small building just outside of Beals. Great views from the dock tables. All staff we encountered there were friendly and efficient. I did see what seemed to be management walking around checking to see if the patrons were okay at each table...which is always nice to see. I would highly recommend Beals to anyone in the Bar Harbor/Acadia looking for a seafood fix...great food at fair prices.

beal's Lobster Pier was absolutely amazing! The lobster was so fresh -- literally came straight out of the water. Everything was organized perfectly, the staff was incredibly friendly, and there was no wait at all. Such a great local experience with delicious seafood and wonderful service. Beautiful view for sunset. Highly recommend if you're in the area!

Maine or Connecticut? Cold or warm? Mayo or butter? The answer is yes! I purchased a lobster roll pack (for 4) from Beal's Lobster Pier via Goldbelly. It came on my requested delivery date, still cold from ice packs, with soft rolls, a pack of lobster pieces, chips and mayo. We split the rolls and grilled them in butter, warmed up the lobster, then garnished with mayo. Delicious succulent and sweet lobster. Large pieces, no little tiny bits. Delicious! It felt like we were sitting on the pier in Southwest Harbor, feeling the saltwater breeze and hearing the creak of the moorings. Someday soon we'll take a trip to the East Coast and savor a lobster roll in person. 'Til then, this was an authentic and tasty way to experience it!

Beal's was a very unique restaurant that I think is worth checking out if you're visiting MDI! I made a reservation in advance & received texts confirming we were still coming, however when we arrived the employee said they were understaffed by 15 for the night so that no one would be able to help us from the second floor upstairs area (where our table was). He offered us to sit in the main seating area which is picnic table style but couldn't guarantee we'd get a full table to ourselves (for 2 of us) but said we could still go to our table upstairs just that it'd be pretty empty. We decided to stick with the upstairs area & I personally liked that no one was up there I thought it was so cool that you could see the lobster right there as you ordered (you order at a counter then go to your table, something I didn't know before coming) and obviously it was all very fresh. I got the Impossible Burger & my boyfriend got a classic Maine style lobster roll (cold w/ mayo) since he had tried the warmed one the night prior. The food came out in about 10 minutes, the fries were very very good. My burger was decent, not knocking my socks out of the water but again that isn't what they're known for. My boyfriend said the lobster melted in his mouth and that they really packed the lobster in there, but that he preferred the warmed butter roll from the night prior. Just a preference thing! He did love their clam chowder, said it was sooooo good. Overall we enjoyed Beal's. It was super unique and a cool experience, and we'd recommend others come here and sit outside when it's a nice night as their decor and signs are very cool!

This visit to Beal's was the culinary highlight of my trip the first week of October. The sweetest lobster I've ever had along with excellent steamer clams that were well prepared without a stitch of sand in them. I opted for the 1.5 lb lobster and added the Sternman, which included mussels or steamers, corn bread, a piece of corn and coleslaw. It was delicious. My husband does not eat seafood, so it is very important for us to find places that have landlubber options. He chose the mac & cheese, which is a very generous portion loaded with white cheddar cheese and bacon. He enjoyed it very much. Equally nice was the ambiance. While waiting for our food we were lucky enough to watch a fishing vessel pull up to the dock and off load to a waiting truck. Seafood can't get fresher than that. I would definitely visit again, if we are ever back in the area. Highly recommend!

Sitting with water as a view is one of my favorite thing in the world and I couldn't ask for a better sunset view. Plenty of mussels in a pound to split for 2 people. Service was fast and food served hot. Lobster rolls was good, wish the garlic butter would have came already in it so it had time to soak but it was good and kept the bread from getting soggy. Lobster stew is ok, not nearly as good as a lobster bisque. You won't be mad you came for the view alone but you can get better lobster rolls and prices at other places.

We enjoyed Beal's our last day on the island. It was by far the best we ate. The ambiance is wonderful. Very laid back and friendly staff. Our food was outstanding!! I had the lobster grilled cheese. Wow, unbelievably delicious with huge chunks of lobster and soft melted cheese. My husband had lobster linguine which also full of lobster pieces. We shared blueberry pie with a scoop of blueberry icecream. Both are made by locals ( which I love supporting), both excellent as well . To top the evening off, we were blessed with a beautiful sunset.

Delicious lobster rolls with dockside seating in Southwest Harbor - great lunch stop after exploring Acadia National Park (recommend if you're visiting Bass Harbor Lighthouse). You order up at the counter and are assigned a table where food is brought out to you. We ordered the traditional (hot butter) and classic (chilled mayo) lobster rolls which came with a pickle and bag of local chips. The rolls are packed with lobster and the brioche bread is so buttery and delicious. I am excited to find out that they do nationwide shipping so that we can hopefully recreate these delicious lobster rolls at home!

Return visit after about 5 years. Keeps getting better. First- don't worry about the line. you pick out your lobster and pay in advance. Served quickly to your sea side picnic table. Second- the lobster is perfectly cooked and cracked. Easy to eat! Third- have the onion rings. Service terrific.

Blueberry pie is delicious with the homemade blueberry ice cream- only complaint is that the price is steep for the size truly. Service is fast and vibe is so cute on the water. Though its small its soo worth it to try tbh so dont skip it
