Such a great place! Have been twice for brunch and the food has been consistently excellent. Had the poached eggs she first time and the hash the second time and both were so delicious. My mom had the pancakes which she thought were rest as well. No complaints all around, excellent food, great service and cute place with cozy atmosphere. I'll be back again for sure. If I could give zero stars I could. Went there this morning for brunch. Got seated but the seat was filthy so had to be wiped down first. Then ordered iced tea. No iced tea. Okay. English breakfast tea. Comes back. No English breakfast. I was afraid to ask for anything else. On top of that. There were flies that kept buzzing around which made it irritating even sitting there. I wouldn't go back not recommend this place. read more

Excellent chopped short rib burger blend served with the best fries I've ever had. There was only one small piece of inedible gristle in the otherwise smooth meat blend. The Saffron Shrimp were more sweet than saffrony and would have benefited greatly if served with a side of saffron infused rice, a pilaf, or better yet, a saffron risotto. Each of the generous number of shrimp contained an inedible string or vein which should have been removed beforehand as you would do at home when preparing this meal for yourself. This was a great distraction from enjoying the otherwise delicious flavor blend. This place was not crowded or busy, so there's no excuse at to why any of these distractions to a 5 star rating should have existed. The wait staff (including a lovely Ms. Seidy) was very friendly but more importantly attentive and professional in providing to our needs and special requests. Professional chef Alex is friendly and accommodating, with a wide experience record so I hope he uses this review to improve his menu. The prices would be warranted as long as there was no gristle in the meat and no vein in the shrimp. so I suggest a bit more stringent effort to remove whatever should not be present in the food. Both of these types of imperfections (gristle in hamburger meat and veins in shrimp) are rampant throughout the restaurant industry and it's only the finest of restaurants that see to it that these things (which we had to remove from our mouths by hand) are eliminated. I don't feel good about saying these negative things because we had such an enjoyable time but I want to be honest and thorough and I truly believe Alex would take my review seriously and use it to improve his restaurant. I will return in the future and update my review should I discover no gristle in my burger and no vein (a stiff, stringy thing) in my shrimp. read more

Fantastic Sunday brunch destination. Ambience is spot on, with a wonderful bottled beer selection (taps as well). Definitely recommend the Chicken and Waffles and Macaroni Gratin. Service was kind of on the slower side and utensils were not on the table when our food arrived, which isn't ideal when one wants to enjoy food while it is still hot. Good tunes were being played in the background, and the chill vibe definitely lends itself to being a regular brunch spot for us. Place is 5 star worthy, but the slow service brings it down to a 4 star. read more

I've been here many time, and they have the best food in City Island. For brunch, I recommend the shrimp and avocado omelet, and If you're looking for something sweeter, the cinnamon French toast. And the fresh squeezed orange juice is a must. For dinner apps, the avocado filled potato skins topped with bacon are incredible. Or the sesame wings. For dinner, my favorites are the Archie Burger or the Crab mac and cheese. But really anything on the dinner menu is amazing. The service is incredible and the entire staff including the chef is very friendly. Also, a very kid friendly environment. Definitely eat here, you will not regret it!!! read more

Wow, wow, wow! What an amazing new addition to the (already superb) City Island restaurant landscape! Our starter of bacon wrapped dates was the perfect combo of sweet, savory, and just delicious. Entree selection was tough, because everything sounded delicious. Was convinced by the enthusiastic (but not pushy) recommendation of our server to go with the bass special and it was incredible, as advertised. Chicken and waffles were also perfect. The local beers were a nice touch! Archie's could hold its own against the best of the best in any neighborhood; we are so lucky to have it here on City Island! The first time we biked to City Island from Pelham, we stopped at Sugar & Spice and made note of its high-quality coffee and cookies. So when we couldn't find it again last fall, we were bummed we'd lost our bike-ride rest stop. But after we asked what happened to that gem of a pastry shop and found out it was indeed the same location with the same owner, we stayed and ended up having the most fantastic brunch we could have imagined. (The patio seating area may be small, but having space next to it where you can park our bikes made up for its simple style.) We were giddy over the ridiculously delicious waffles and perfectly prepared eggs - and the coffee and juice were as high quality as we remembered. As for the renovation, they nailed every element: the fresh, hip but unpretentious pub decor would hold its own in the trendiest parts of the city. In fact, the restaurant's food and decor made us think of it as Birch & Barley's (a hot brunch destination in Logan Circle in DC) quaint Bronx cousin. The food at Archie's has been consistently amazing when we've been there since that first day, as have the owner and staff. Each time, they have been friendly, super accommodating and knowledgable about the food and beer they serve. Now Archie's is our go-to place for brunch, and after going there for dinner tonight, we'll definitely add this to our Friday night rotation. The menu was a step above your typical pub food, with entrees that went beyond just sandwiches, including a Cajun pork chop and several fresh fish specials that made selecting just one difficult. Shockingly, although the line of cars coming onto City Island stretched back a mile (not kidding), Archie's had plenty of tables open. This lovely little gem apparently is yet to be discovered by the masses heading to CI on the weekend for its typical scene at big, loud, and chaotic warehouse-sized seafood restaurants. So don't be discouraged by the effort it takes to find parking on the island. Archie's is worth it. read more

Came here after being undecided where to have brunch. The food was awesome and service was great. Definitely will come back.

The food here is fresh, creative, and delicious. The menu has a great selection without being overwhelming. The only reason I didn't give this place another star was because of the service. The waitress was in space - she sat us, didn't bring utensils or napkins, didn't come back to check on us, and never refilled my water glass. They also use some kind of bleach spray to wipe down the tables which is really annoying when you're eating. Something else that bothered me was that after they brought the check, the guy tending the bar came over and stood at the table while I counted out the cash. He just stood there staring at me and when I looked up he asked me if I had any questions about the bill. So bizarre and awkward. I would come here again for the food but the lousy service definitely detracts from your experience. read more

Stopped for brunch on a whim. We all enjoyed it. The service was good as was the food. Excellent coffee!

We were stranded in City Island and Archie's was our "port in the storm." Everything was delicious... We had the fries, bread pudding (firmer then most), chicken wings (messy but really good) and the hamburger (my friend is STILL raving about the burger). The only complaint is that the waitstaff got a little confused with what we ordered and had to repeat our order several times and then came back to verify (which was a good thing because it would have arrived wrong). We live on the island and hope like heck this place sticks around. Food was AMAZING. What a refreshing change from the greasy fried fish joints that line the avenue. This is the kind of great food you expect to find in NYC. The burger was perfection. Service was friendly and professional. Decor is hip and modern.
