From the entrance greeting, perfect waiter service, wonderful choices and amazing chef we couldnt have picked a better place to eat for dinner. The food was amazing and our server, Carmela made us feel like family. She had the best recommendations and happily accommodated my gluten free allergy. We have been coming here for years, A little pricey, but the food is prepared well. Well this last Sunday we were up to do some outdoor work, we stopped in for lunch. We ordered, ate, then asked for our check. The waitress tells us there is a 3 dollar charge for credit/debit card, This was not posted on the door, the menu, or any where else. You can not arbitrarily impose a surcharge. We protested, a 3 dollar up charge on a 38.15 check, That is an 8 percent TAX. Not fair, We won't be back, nor would we recommend eating here. read more

This place will soon become too crowded to get a table unless you're super cool and you know someone who works there. I predict this will happen soon, so before it does get yourself there and order anything because the chef apparently does everything right. I haven't had a steak so well cooked, perfectly seasoned and so delicious since my recent visit to Argentina. The stuffed French toast were absolutely amazing and the chicken and waffles make me forget about my all-time favorite West coast chicken & waffle eatery Rosc.... Ok I won't even mention their complete name. The service was excellent and very attentive, the decor was sheik and the last time I ate brunch and asked to take a look at the dinner menu before I was finished eating meant I REALLY, REALLY was enjoying the food. Amazing. I loved this place when it was sugar and spice. Archie's has made so many improvements but I am very pleased that the food has remained the same. The decor is cool, casual, comfortable and visibly appealing. This is a small joint but the chef is the owner so you know your getting the best every time. The brunch is phenomenal. Mimosas are pricey but worth it bc they make them strong enough to catch a buzz off of one (if your a petite gal with a low tolerance lol). I have yet to come for dinner but judging by the brunch and menu selection it won't disappoint. They also have a great beer and wine selection and perfectly sized bar. Delicious! Worth every star and more. The wild salmon was fresh and cooked perfectly and served over parsnip purée, black lentils and eggplant - YUM. My husband and I shared this and his equally as yummy lobster roll with herb dusted French fries. Such an unexpectedly satisfying lunch. We shared their apple crisp and ice cream for dessert. What a fantastic surprise. Went to Archie's last night with my wife just to "check out the new place" in the neighborhood. The local buzz has been really good but Archie's exceeded my highest expectations. The menu was very interesting and choosing a entrée was a bit challenging as I wanted to try almost everything. Everything is made fresh with local and organic ingredients I eventually decided on one of the nights specials: Porgy stuffed with shrimp and wild rice. It was SO fresh and absolutely delicious. My wife opted for a simple burger with gruyere cheese and it was terrific too. The waiter Mike was so nice, helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and how it was prepared. He was very helpful in the selection process and a delight to talk to. We both enjoyed homemade deserts as well; bread pudding and homemade vanilla ice bream with vanilla bean soaked rhubarb and Black berries. They were both "off the charts" delicious. I highly recommend Archie's Tap and Table. This is a very welcome addition to City Island and the growing number of other fine restaurants in The Bronx. 5 Stars Across the Board. read more

Came here for brunch...got the corn beef hash and my bf got the chicken and waffles. My meal came in a small bowl. I thought it was ok, I'm used to having my corn hash grounded up and these were chopped in chunks. I think it is a bit overpriced for the quality though. The chicken and waffles were good though. Chicken wasn't too dry and waffle was tasty. This place is just ok to me...I've had better brunch elsewhere. read more

I decided to write my first review of this restaurant as I frequently rely heavily on Yelp reviews. I came here on a whim after reading reviews on yelp. I loved the decor. It was a very modern meets hole in the wall type feel. I went on a Wednesday night and there were a couple of other diners there but it was not overcrowded. They have an outdoor seating area as well. We opted to dine inside instead. The service was probably the best I've had in a while. The server (Jonathan) was prompt and attentive. He also seemed to be tending the entire establishment so I was impressed with how fast he was. We got drinks and food within 20 mins but the food was fresh. He also didn't judge me or get frustrated at me for ordering dessert first and then more food. The chicken and waffles were amazing according to my picky eater of a boyfriend. Before he ordered, he had reservations about whether or not the chicken was boneless and Jonathan assured us that they were. This is a great place and I will definitely return. read more

So glad Archie's opened on City Island! I've come here to eat 4 times in the last month and each time the food was fantastic. Archie's provides a varied menu that is a nice change of pace from the usual fare on CI. Try the Mac 'n Cheese, Chicken and Waffles, or Archie's burger from the regular menu, or, as I usually do, one of the fish specials. Today, I ordered the grilled striped bass with collard greens and quinoa, with a spicy kick. Superb! read more

My husband and I have eaten at Archie's many times, but no more. The owner has been rude to us and we ran out of patience for his inconsistent hours, the overpriced food (which is good but not worth the price), and overpriced wine. The brunch is very good and the staff is very nice. You can bring your dog when the outside is open, but there are too many good restaurants on City Island where the owners value good customers and treat them respectfully. read more

Can someone say "YUM!". Delicious, hot, tasty, simple, great tasting dishes..... Went with my family for my birthday. It's a great addition to the food scene; my black fish special with mango and jalapeno was spectacular (so crispy, so simple and tasty with jasmine rice and black beans - absolutely loves). My kids had a delicious Fried Chicken and Waffles...... the Mac N' chees is out of control. Banana Cream Pie and Brownie - out of control!!!! Great service, great atmosphere..... One day we decided to check the Orchard Beach in the Bronx, and, oh my, this was the most nightmarish beach in NYC. Dirty, extremely loud, people blasting boom boxes, water smelled like rotten sea food. But then we drove to city island and stumbled upon Archies. Wow - this is one of the best gastropubs I've been to and reasonably priced too. I wish it was closer, or I would be a regular patron, but since City Island doesn't have public beaches, alas. The food designed by chef Alex Petrovsky was fantastic. We decided not to get the mains, but a bunch of small plates, and Archie's truly delivered. Blistered Shishito peppers were definitely a highlight, so delicious with sea salt. PEI Muscles were delicious, and saffron shrimp very nice, although out of the three perhaps the least favorite. We then got two delicious baby kale salads. Our picky five-year-old, whose favorite food is pizza and fries, so we were worried he won't appreciate this gastropub, loved his butternut fried chicken with waffles (no kid menu but they adjusted the price for a smaller size) and herbed fries (of which we stole quite a bit, as they were delicious!). Then we all shared a delicious sundae - hazelnut ice cream, Nutella drizzle, and candied hazelnut crunch with a brownie. I love hazelnuts and it's very rare to find them in American deserts, so I was very pleased. I would literally come back there just for that sundae and get one for myself :) maybe I can convince my husband to drive us there one day again. Oh and beer was great, he really enjoyed his craft beer, so maybe I can bribe him to go back :) read more
