Yesterday, my wife and I were in the area looking for some local goodies as Christmas presents and made our way into Hip & Humble. The outside is very inviting-I love the color of the house-turned-retail building. As soon as we entered, we were greeted by Mabe, the beautiful resident dog. She happily sniffed us, let us pet her and then she went back to her duties of wandering the store. Any place that has a dog is A-OK in my book! Each item in the shop appears to have been carefully curated to be here. Nothing seems out of place or odd. I love every item and how cohesive everything feels. Up front, you'll find an assortment of knick-knacks, home goods, soaps & lotions, etc. Toward the back is a room full of unique women's clothing and accessories. The owner visited with us briefly and we felt very welcome to be there. It's a fun atmosphere with adorable items. I look forward to returning for additional gift items in the future.

It's not like I've waited until February to bring something back. Koo De Ker should mark on their labels their return policy on gifts! As I left I said, "I guess I won't be back, but you don't even care". Her response was "no I don't". I get it! It's a small boutique store but SERIOUSLY! I would suggest to the owner to do a little training. But then again, perhaps she doesn't CARE either.

And that's what Madewell is really all about. All their clothing is fab: classic, mostly simple, comfortable, and flattering, but their denim is about as close as you can get to the Holy Grail of jeans. They fit so perfectly and are made so well (ha!). Seriously, though. It's dreamy as can be. They also offer a few bath and body products, candles, cards, accessories, and simple, modern jewelry. It's worth joining their (free) rewards program for various special sales and gifts. I especially like this location for it's size and generous selection. If you've never been to Madewell this is an excellent introduction to the brand, and if you are already a fan this will likely be your favorite store.
