Went for the $5 bowl wednesdays and it was really good! I liked all the fruit flavors but I wished they also had tart flavor. I also enjoyed all the toppings that they had and they had a really large selection of drizzles! I would definitely come here again even though it is a long drive for me.

We love this place! We try to go once a week and treat the kids (and treat ourselves too if we're being honest) ;) I love that they always have custard, and I usually mix one of their other flavors with it. I also love how it's a relatively affordable in a world where everything is expensive. And lastly, I appreciate that it's a local spot, I much rather spend my money directly into the community.

My family and I stumbled upon arctic ape on our way home from new braunfels just searching ice cream near me off i35. So glad we stopped. Right out front some guys were selling hot wheels and my son immediately had a huge smile on his face. They were so excited for ice cream though they couldn't wait to get inside. Arctic ape is designed so neat for kids , everything caught their eye! There's so much to talk about while eating there between the ambiance and the fun trivia cards on each table. There's plenty of delicious froyo and Italian ice flavors to choose from... but the toppings !!! Omg the toppings are endless. Anything your heart desires, they deliver. They even have the dividers for those of us who don't want to mix their flavors. They weigh by the ounce here. Also, the size pictured is the smallest they have (which isn't very small) and I do think they'd benefit from offering smaller kid size bowls for those of us that don't want to encourage our kids to have 12 oz of froyo , lol. Great experience. I'd go back and I don't even live anywhere nearby.

$5 wild boy ape cup Wednesday! Cake batter base extra pickles

First time in here! Always drove by. Something pulled me in today! Maybe it was the frequency I heard of the donkey Kong ape sounds... or could've just been I was hungry. Didn't know what I was getting into. Apparently it's wild boy cup ape madness wednsdays and it was $5. The staff was very friendly cheerful delightful and helped a nub bot newbie Shoobie chimp place an ape sized order! I'll be back in soon! The cake batter with pickles is a must try! Decor is Go Ape! ASNKA! Planet of the bapes with some DK Barrels scattered in! They should really have an ape sound when you close and open the door! Like old DK sound from N64 Mario Kart. Before He got Botox

I went here on a Wednesday and on Wednesdays they have a special where a blue cup (16 oz) is charged by weight but only up to $5...so you can fill it up and add all the toppings and it'll only be $5. I tried coconut and cake batter. The coconut is non dairy so the consistency is a little watery but both were still yummy. Staff was extra friendly. They even have dividers for people who want multiple flavors without mixing them. I 100% recommend this place.

We had dinner about 10 minutes away. For dessert, we decided to try @arctic_ape. They had gelato, Italian ices and frozen yogurt. So many toppings to choose from! Had to have ice cream for #nationalicecreamday! Glad we stopped by to check it out!

As soon as you walk in your eyes will be delighted with the colorful Knick knacks all around! It looks like an Arctic cave that is super cool. Even on the ceiling you can see Icicles. We were greeted right away by a staff member that asked if we had been there before. When we replied no, she instantly went into explaining all the different topics and selections available. She told us there was Italian ice, gelato and regular ice cream. She explained the price is by weight rather than size of cup. And then showed us the cups we could use to make drinks out of our creations. The only two things I didn't like. Was that there were no samples available for the ice creams. They said it was due to Covid but I've been to other ice cream shops here in San Antonio and both had samples available. The second thing I didn't like was the cashier rushed our group to pay and I wasn't ready making my selection so I ended up very plain. Other than that the quality of ice cream is good. I had the gelato and it wasn't the most authentic but definitely edible and a nice snack.

I'm here to reassure you that yes this place is 5/5: The reviews are true!! Why is this place 5/5 stars? First and foremost: the hospitality. This isn't even customer service. This is a family owned business that treats you as if you entered their home and are willing to do whatever it is to make you feel comfortable. Options: Holy cannoli there are SO many options. It literally looks like a liquor cabinet behind the bar and it's a whole bunch of store bought AND homemade flavors. By the amount of options it would seem overwhelming, but it really isn't. Self-Serve: you really get to create whatever you want. From taco cones to shakes to cups to waffle cones - seriously this place has it all! Private lot out front with plenty of parking. Prices are ridiculously fair. They have $5 taco Tuesday...so anything that can fit in a taco waffle cone is $5! Insane! I highly recommend this place. They were offering games to play prior to COVID. They want it to be a place you can hang out, not simply grab your ice cream and go. They want you to feel comfortable and have a good time. Highly highly recommend.

A little of this and a little of that!

What an awesome fro-yo place! When we entered the shop, we were greeted almost immediately by a man who spoke with the same eager kindness as Kenneth from 30 Rock. If we had questions, he was ready for them! If you're new to independent fro-yo shops, the selections could feel overwhelming, and you could mix things that clash. I'm a pro, and I'm comfortable with my classic choices. If you're unsure, pick safe options so you can enjoy your desserts. The good news is, you can't go too wrong with selections - just don't let your cereal get soggy. Otherwise, sit back, say hi to the ape, and if you have the time, enjoy a round of Trivial Pursuit.

Is there plenty of seating? Is the atmosphere conducive to conversation?

The dining area is a little small with seating for about 15 people. You can also have a conversation, assuming the place isn't crowded. Oh, there are also table and chairs outside.

This shop sells fudge, truffles, candied apples, and - what I came for - ice cream! They had a lot of ice cream flavors to choose from, a least a couple dozen. The smiling young woman working behind the ice cream counter offered to give tastes, but I had already figured out which flavors I wanted. I chose two scoops in a cup, one of Cappucino Chip and the other Turtle Cheesecake. They have several tables to sit at, some along a hallway and more in a back room. I took a seat and was in awe of the huge scoops given. The Cappuccino Chip had a mild flavor (I prefer it stronger) but a fair number of tiny chocolate chips. The Turtle Cheesecake had an excellent cheesecake flavor with swirls of caramel, praline pecans, and caramel-filled mini turtles. I'm usually not fond of nuts in my ice cream but I actually enjoyed the pralines. In my humble opinion, there were too few turtles. But I still loved it. If you're in the mood for a cold, creamy treat while visiting the Alamo, you'll find this to be the perfect place to visit.

There was a strong cardboard aftertaste and I just couldn't get over it. I was fine with the one bite. Disappointing because I spent $10, but hoping this was a one off. If I'm in San Antonio, Texas again I may give them another try.

The real issue came at the cash register. The woman handling payments was, unfortunately, not kind at all. In fact, "rude" would be the most generous description. It actually took my wife about ten minutes just to complete the payment for a couple of ice creams, which felt longer than the ice cream itself took to melt. What made it even more uncomfortable was watching how she interacted with other employees. It wasn't just unprofessional--it was the kind of scene you'd expect in a low-budget psychological thriller where you start wondering if someone should call for backup. So while the ice cream itself and the front-line staff were great, the overall experience was overshadowed by the atmosphere at the register. Small, crowded, and unkind is not a combination that brings us back. We'll pass next time.
