Came here for a movie screening and had a lovely experience. The theater is small and intimate yet still has comfortable seating and great sound quality. I really felt immersed in the movie when watching it. The theater is also very clean and well maintained. The lobby has some snacks for purchase and has some great decor. It was a little tricky getting in as we had to be buzzed in. Parking is just a few dollars and is assisted valet. I was able to find parking in the surrounding neighborhood. I love how they support indie films, so I will definitely be back! read more

Since Archlight closed down I didn't think their was another theatre nearby besides the Chinese theater on Hollywood blvd. I wanted to watch the movie "Everything, Everywhere, All at once." After searching Cinelounge popped up and I was delighted to see it was on Sunset just a block down from the old Archlight. You can purchase a ticket from their site or Fandango. I purchase mine on their site for $17. I opted to walk since it was a nice day but their is parking available or street parking. A security guard unlocks the door for you to enter the building then the theater is on the left. One friendly staff member manages it all! They have gourmet popcorn that I definitely want to try next time. I had a coconut water for $5. The theatre is very small if you are short bring a booster. I had to sit up on my backpack and hoodie after a couple sat on the row with in front of me. It's very clean, the seats aren't the most luxurious but comfy enough. Seemed to be some confusion on seating arrangement. Staff said no assigned seating but when you buy the ticket you choose your seat so idk about what's up with that. Next time I would like to come earlier and find a seat closer to ensure my view won't be obscured. read more

I have not been to this theater yet but from my first experiences with the company, they haven't been that great. Being that I called the establishment back to back and have yet to have anyone answer or call me back. I hate to leave this review but I only have one question that could potentially be a dumb one but I need it answered before I buy tickets and now I'm frustrated because I feel like the lack of attention this theater has to the phone is ruining my date night experience. I've tried each extension hoping I could get an answer but it seems like they are too busy to pick up the phone. This place seems cool from the pictures, and I can't wait to have the chance to go, but I'm having a hard time believing the staff will assist or service me when I arrive with my gf. I do hope to give it a chance one day and maybe redeem my feelings towards it, until then happy watching! read more

We so need more of these little boutique theaters! I wanted to catch the limited screening of the epic film Jaçir, which was playing here. I assumed it was a regular theater so when I arrived I was confused haha because it's a typical LA office building. But that's what makes it unique. Inside the first floor of this building is a magical theater lounge! Safety is a priority here because doors open only when the guard on duty inside buzzes you in. It's a small space but understandably so, and you're immediately greeted with a friendly clerk and various movie posters and quality snacks (bougie popcorn and fancy coffee, yes please!). There are two gender neutral restrooms that are well maintained and clean. It's one large theater space with two doors. The theater itself is spacious and comfortable with amazing cushy seats. Unlike typical theaters, no matter where you sit in this one, the architecture is perfect for exquisite viewing. Really loved this place and am trying to find a similar setup in OC to host private viewings! read more

What a letdown!!! Incredibly over priced... Well over the cost of an actual cinema ticket, and with 1920's sound quality. The poor radio quality is beyond distracting. Update: we were given a 90's handheld radio after 30 minutes of unintelligible sound. 5 dollars for a can of (warm) Coke is almost sensible, but it's egregious to charge more than double the price for 800 Degree pizzas. Not sure what the arrangement is with 800, but it seems like quite the miss considering that there are plenty of nearby restaurants including an Italian spot on the same block. I'm sure local spots would jump at the opportunity to partner... but doubling the price to eat in your car is absurd! (Overhead aside) Look - I know that it's a hard time, especially for the film industry, but it's so sad to see places that are trying to make it work by charging much more and delivering half the experience than the ones that are doing it right. Would also be nice to see support for local food vendors rather than making a buck off through reselling national chain pizza. read more

Arena Cinelounge is the perfect date night spot. The theatre is intimate yet spacious, the chairs are comfortable, and the customer service is great. Lisa greeted us when we arrived and she was full of life and really made us feel welcome. The popcorn is heavenly... and apparently it's made by the owner! Prior to coming I had to reschedule a showing because of an emergency and their team was responsive and helpful in allowing me to pick another film at a later date. Tremendous customer service. Just got back from seeing "Dealt." So happy to see it in a venue like this. Parking was easy, staff was friendly. Seats are extremely comfortable with front being the best. Picture was beautiful and clear. 7.1 sound was only noticeable at the start, as this movie is not in need of audio effects. Apparently, we caught this location of Arena Cinemalounge at a bad time: it was their opening day. ...let that sink in for a second. Yeah, I didn't think that was a good sign either, but their ticket sales are final (a policy made explicitly clear, mind you, so I'm not dinging points for that) so there we were, more or less at peace with the bed we made. And what is this bed, you ask? It's apparently the third (?) of a chain of theaters here in LA. One review on their website states, "Offers one of the most unique moviewatching experiences in town." TIFU by realizing that's never necessarily a good thing. I'm worried about being vague, so, lest I inadvertently slander those other locations, I want to make explicit that I am only directing this strong review to this Sunset location. The best way I can describe it to cinephiles is that it's like, in some ways, a more 'modern' version of The Cinefamily. This one's found in a building's lobby, so consummately downtown though: clean, white/beige, and minimal. Their signage falls in line with that last aesthetic, making it very easy to miss (at night at least). The ticketing lobby is tiny, with their meager concession stand grafted onto it. The employees were great, clearly doing their best for their first day, but, especially with a line of people in that tiny space, it can get pretty cramped just getting your ticket. One of the neat things (depending on your perspective) is that they seemed to wait till most everyone got there before starting their movie. We got their late, but - possibly because a handful of seats were left - they only started playing it about seven to ten minutes after the actual showtime. It was a tiny detail, but it made it feel really intimate, like watching a movie with friends at home. But maybe it feels too intimate because everything about the actual, single auditorium looked like something cobbled together as a last minute location for a screening. Think about screenings in small rooms at some comic conventions and that should get you 95% there. They have 7.1 sound, and I presume they screened a DCP, but that's where the good stuff ends. A little over or under fifty seats is probably generous. The screen is tiny. The seats are "stadium seating," with each row a bit lower than the one behind it, but the difference is it's not big enough to prevent taller people from ruining your view. I mean, jesus - a couple 'choice' seats have a pillar right in front of them, obscuring the view of some unfortunate patrons. Toss in some black curtains all around and that's about it. It just feels like a barebones, DIY sort of thing. The difference between this and the affordable Cinefamily is that the tickets there aren't $16. That's right. For that kind of money, I'd rather walk to the Arclight Hollywood and its gorgeous facilities. If I had known, I would have just seen the movie on VOD at home. I learned the hard way - but you don't have to. Maybe they'll improve and address some of these things (if that's possible for them - I understand some matters may be more challenging to handle than they seem to an outsider), but, for now, I won't be back. read more

This theater is so cute! The woman working in the front is super nice, too. The concessions are normal except there's a coffee bar and a variety of popcorn flavors to choose from. The theater itself is clean and very small. There's no assigned seating so we arrived early in order to get good seats. The reason I didn't feel this was a 5-star theater is because of the seats. We chose this theater because Fandango said the seats are recliners. They are not. The backs of the chairs lean back a little, but it's definitely not a recliner chair. For a 3 hour movie, this was important for us. It's not a huge deal obviously, but we wouldn't have chosen this theater if it was accurately advertised. Also parking is cheap - $5. City walk is $20-$25 to park but they have recliners so next time I would opt for that theater if we're seeing a long movie. read more

My first visit to Arena Cinelounge was a couple of months ago for a film making the Film Festival circuit. "Kingston" is asmall but entertaining and thought provoking film with a lot of heart. The Cinelounge is aptly named. It's a luxurious screening room. I was also treated to the best artisan popcorn. Just recently I was invited for a popcorn tasting. A new blend had been created by the Owner Christian Meoli. I sampled them all and viewed another amazing Indie film whose name escapes me know. A top venue to view Independent films with top notch popcorn, who could ask for more? I left with a bag of "Popcorn of the Living Dead" savory and sweet with just the right amount of both. An inside was a small poster for the Classic Horror film "Evil Dead"! What a treat! read more

I have to agree with another reviewer--cinelounge does have the best front row seats in all of Los Angeles! You can watch VERY comfortably in the front row--I really don't think I can say that about any other theater This is a real haven for all the cinephiles out there and a true hidden gem. The film programming here is off the charts and ahead of the curb. I went four times to see Mandy there as Cinelounge was the first and only theater in Los Angeles to screen it until everyone else eventually caught on. The seats are super comfy, the quality of theater is top notch and parking is very easy (there's a parking lot attached). Not only do they play current films I truly cannot see anywhere else, but have also screened some of my favorite films including Amadeus, Eyes Without a Face, Eraserhead. I visited the Arena Cinelounge's Drive-In Theater and what a blast!!! I watched Malcolm & Marie from the comfort of my Subaru Crosstrek. It was a lovely experience. The ushers were all very friendly and they even gave out free M&Ms!!! The audio quality via the FM transmitter sounded perfect and the picture quality was very good, especially when you consider the amount of light pollution in the center of Hollywood. The best part was the concessions!!! They have plenty of snacks that they deliver straight to your car. It was truly a premium experience and not incredibly expensive. Nicely done! It's not a great drive-in. It works, sure. But the screen isn't very big or very bright, and there is a really bright light across the street that shines in your eyes. Management, if you're reading this (looks like you do)- consider having that building change the angle of their light, or put up more fencing to block it. If you're definitely gonna go here, get there right at gate opening time so you can get a spot up front. The gate is hard to spot, too- look for a section of gated fence. read more

Visited my friend in Hollywood to catch up and she brought me to Cinelounge drive-in to watch the movie Happily. Shared laughter and screams (hahaha, due to unexpected scenes in the film). At the drive-in, we loved how accommodating the staff are, delivered our concessions right into our car and assisted me all the way to find the comfort room. I heard they're gonna be opening again their boutique theatre which is actually their original spot. Beca and I agreed to visit there and watch some good films on our next bonding time. And..don't wanna miss to mention, I sooooo love their truffle popcorn!!! Will definitely order it online and try some other flavors as well. read more

Do NOT, I repeat do NOT go to the drive-in, this is a review of THAT not the theater. There are many other drive ins here to go to, who do NOT charge you exorbitant prices they do here (MORE than twice as much as others) as well have the gall to charge another $5 for an online ticketing fee instead of crediting you which they should be doing as they don't have to hire a person to sell you tickets at the door (online ticketing is pretty much self service so what's the fee for?) Other places you don't have to deal with their onerous rules like NO bringing in food or drink, even threatening to kick you out if you do, (can't in a crowded lot like theirs) once you are there NO way you can get OUT (something to think about if you don't like the movie and want to leave before it's over) so if you make the poor decision to come here despite my detailed warnings, I wouldn't worry about the food rule, I don't think they search the car when you come in (we came late so don't know) and when the movie starts they don't watch you for SURE. The only refreshments I saw on website are popcorns, most theaters have a 10,000 % markup this one has ones you have to buy in packs of two PREpaid again (with WEIRD flavors) with a 30,000% markup, they say it's because it helps them make money but with the high priced tickets with practically no overhead they are doing plenty well. The worst part is the horrible parking situation, (guess that's why the ticket have to be prepaid so you won't be able to leave after seeing how bad it is) Google Maps said it takes 15 min from Chinatown, we gave ourselves half an hour, due to detours and initial misdirections with the GPS we were 5 min late (actually we weren't as I checked and although ticket said it started at 5:55 the schedule online said 6.) The "rules" said I think you can arrive up to 10 or 15 min late (we thought there were previews). but they closed the gate I guess right at the starting time, we drove around the block looking for the opening, finally I walked through a small gap at the gate, and got one person to open the gate and where he directed us to park was behind a high SUV where our view was blocked. It took us about 10 min (after we wasted 5 min circling the block) before we got a manager or someone to talk to the person in an adjacent position to move up so we could get in a position to see the movie as the guy manning the gate was maybe?? too ineffectual to get the driver to move his car (there WAS space for him to move) but that driver was probably reluctant to move as there was NOT a car space between cars as rules promise, you are CLOSE to other cars. Runners bringing food to people in the cars who when delivering and talking to occupants, also partially block the view. Even though parking lot not full, people who had arrived before the grace period ended (who like us probably paid FIFTY dollars for their ticket), one had to talk to the gatekeeper 5 min before being let in, the other was not let in at all, stood OUTSIDE gate for a few min. watching. Theater doesn't care as they already had your money since it was prepaid, knew as it was non-refundable or exchangeable, (probably had to be prepaid since people seeing space allotment would leave.) To maximize profits they start the movie before it's completely dark so for the 5:55 showing it was hard to see the picture for half an hour and there are also bright lights in some business next to it and across the street detracting from the clarity of the movie. They say they have a bathroom but it must be far away as couldn't see it (found out later, for hefty price you pay, you get a PortiPotty with NO toilet paper.) To maximize profits they start the movie before it's completely dark so for the 5:55 showing it was hard to see the picture for half an hour and there are also bright lights in some business next to it and across the street also detracting from the clarity of the movie. Rebuttal to the owner: Christian, you are rather dumb in thinking ANY storeowner will ban me based on an HONEST review, I think the fact that I used proper grammar and spelling and went into great detail as to why I would (and YOU) should not go there gives this more credence than one that simply says, "Yo (sic) shouldn't go here, the place sucks!" but think about it there are places that charge half this much and probably built as a drive in (either sloped lot or screen high so large vehicles don't block others) and a better viewing experience, do you want to risk up to $25 a ticket to be unhappy?? We didn't get free M and M's but that's just to tell you not to expect that, not the reasons for the critical review which has enough reasons to be critical. (I saw recently they at least removed the booking fee, becuz of me?) read more

I had my cast and crew screening for my new horror film, Boo, yesterday at Arena Cinelounge. We had an AMAZING TIME. All of the guests commented on how nice the theater was and how comfy the seats are ! They truly know how to put on a show. The sound and visuals were exactly as intended. They were helpful with providing an easel for my poster as well as offering to hang one. Christian and Camilla were gracious and helpful hosts and everyone loved the snacks too! To say I'm obsessed is an understatement! This is a gem in a sea of big chain theaters showing the same blockbuster yet underwhelming movies! This is a single theater space with big comfy leather chairs, awesome snacks that are artisan (vegan popcorn and real root beer anyone??) and the nicest staff ever!!! I'm bummed i never got the two women's names but they were awesome! I can't wait to come back and see more independent and foreign films here! read more

It may be worth noting that the only two negative reviews of this venue were by reviewers from (cough!) La Habra and Arcadia - literal out-of-towners who presumably enjoy far finer facilities in the boonies. Those of us at home in LA, Venice and Pasadena, though, instantly took to this sweet screening space, appreciating its intimacy and curated ambience and programming. For our friend from Arcadia - who attacked both the lobby and the screen because he perceived them as "tiny" (objectively untrue about the screen) - may I suggest you'd feel more at home in a cavernous old-time popcorn palace, complete with dust-laden red velveteen curtains and floors sticky with years of spilled cola. Or better yet, perhaps a double-date with your soulmate from La Habra in his neck of the suburban woods at the Vineland Drive-In theater would satisfy your spatial cravings? The retro snack bar and "two movies for the price of one" policy should please your parochial souls. Nothing tiny about the experience of seeing a double bill in the great outdoors! I do have to wonder, though: what about the word "Cinelounge" suggested DeMillean size and scale to you? read more

I've been coming to the theater for over a year with my husband and we've always enjoyed our experiences. I particularly like the staff members, who always manage to make me feel right at home. However, that has not been the case with my last few visits as the new manager with the blonde hair has been very rude. He's been friendly enough to my husband and I, but every time I come in he seems to belittle the staff when he thinks customers aren't looking. This isn't the first time I've caught him doing it either. It's really rubbed me the wrong way as I've watched the location go from a cool indie vibe to feeling like its run by a bully who makes each visit more uncomfortable. Not that this is his fault but he also has a very strong odor that seems to stay in the lobby whenever he is around. Not a good look. read more

Great venue for Indie films. Easy parking- there's a parking structure inside of the building. The theater hosts maybe 30 patrons. Refreshments are cold drinks and candies. Popcorn is in a bag, since they have no kitchen to prepare food. Friendly staff and well kept theater. Smack dab in the heart of Hollywood. I highly recommend seeing a movie here. It's a refreshing change from the chain theaters. I enjoyed the experience. read more

I bought a ticket on Saturday to see The Void on Sunday at 10:10. That movie looks so awesome, right? I can only speculate because I never got to see it. I drove out to LA and got to the theater early to get a good seat. When I arrived I was told that the movie had been inexplicably rescheduled to 8:55 and so I had missed it. Then I was told that I should have checked my email to make sure that the time on the movie tickets I bought was actually still the time that the movie was being shown, so I guess its my fault that my night was ruined and I got to drive back from LA in traffic not having seen the movie that I was looking forward to all week. Zero stars, would not almost see a movie here again. read more

Such a great screening place! Has the feel of a bigger cinema but nice and intimate, think it has something like 40 + seats. Great to find a screening room that is smaller in size but has that professional quality of the big ones. I think this will be one for the indie filmmakers to fall in love with! A great screening room showing films that you can't see anywhere else! A breath of fresh air!

This is a beautiful boutique cinema. I visited for the screening of an indie movie and found super comfy seats, a surprisingly large screen for a relatively cosy space, fantastic sound and an experience most like exclusive screenings I've attended in Beverly Hills as a movie journalist. This venue is far better than many of the others around town - I'm thinking Raleigh Studios and the like. And perfect air conditioning - a rare find in LA where I usually freeze in over-air conditioned auditoriums. read more
