It's been great to shop at Argus Farm Shop when visiting Ann Arbor. I appreciate their commitment to supporting local farms & I like their vibe in the store. They offer a lot of variety, so it's possible to get everything you need for dinner...meat, eggs, vegetables, fruit, nuts, cheese, & more! My biggest suggestion is around the barcodes. I understand the reason for using them, but they're also a pain to put on the products. I end up with loose carrots in my basket & needing to put a barcode on one of them, so they can ring me up properly & the payment can go to the appropriate farm. Then, when I get home, the barcode sticker is stuck to the tomato, carrot, or whatever vegetable it is, & I have to peel off the sticker, sometimes leaving a residue on the fruit/vegetable. The experience shopping at a farmers market is much smoother for this reason. Again, I love the mission, love the products, but wish the system for getting the food was a bit easier. What a beautiful store this is: top of the line produce and bread and a knowledgeable and helpful staff. And we are supporting local farmers and bakers and chocolatiers when we buy here. Disappointed at the Liberty Rd location. Amazing products, but the staff was rude when I asked about a water bowl for my dog on a 90- degree day. They were also rude and "spacey" with my simple order of a black coffee and scone. read more

I am thrilled for this new local market! I met the owners, the Brinkerhoff's, last week and was very impressed to see how many customers were around! The entire market was full and alive - laughter, kids playing, locals talking - Argus Farm Stop is the place to be! Argus Farm Stop is part of my week, it is part of my community, it is part of my lifestyle. It is a meeting greeting place, it is a farmers market, it is a fish market, It is a fresh pasta market, it is a meat market with everything local and delicious. Its where I buy my flowers in the summer and my hot chocolate in the winter. There are wonderful treats for my dogs, well made Americanos and other drinks for my spirits. it is a meal spot and on the weekends its got an outdoor smoker addition. They owners are warm friendly and have thought of everything to make your experience as good as it gets. There is car parking, there is dog leash ties, there is bike parking and there is heated outdoor seating for the winter. Ive been to a concert, a party a book reading. The coffee is very good here. I've gotten a couple groceries here as well and they are usually good quality. They sell crust bread but I prefer Avalon or zingermans. I've gotten two loaves of bread and I've been disappointed both times I live quite close and walk by everyday. Their parking situation is very frustrating. They don't have clear signs about parking so their customers are constantly blocking the sidewalk, which is unsafe for pedestrians and bikers. I took off a star because of this. read more

I can't believe I haven't reviewed Argus yet! This happens to be my favorite place in Ann Arbor. I love to grab a delicious mocha with a fresh pastry every morning. They have a wide variety of locally grown produce and dairy, and several local food companies sell packaged items. You can also find specialty pastas and sauces, jars of jams and pickles, homemade breads, chocolate, just to name few. There's always something new to discover and the atmosphere is the best! read more

The only market-type place in Ann Arbor that makes you feel like your in an episode of Portlandia. They really know where all the food is grown, the farms where the eggs are laid, and, probably, the mother chickens' names. I hope one day to find Carrie Brownstein filming here. I would recommend her to eat the Henry St. bread. Then I would ask to feed it to her. read more

Just polished off a Juicy Kitchen quinoa veggie salad from the prepared meal area. Man, it was good! Love that you can swing in for a quick bite to eat. One of the friendliest and highest quality local cafes/micro grocery places that I have frequented in my travels to over 70 countries and innumerable cities. Terrific coffee, fruit and veggies, dairy, salads, eggs and such. All sourced from local family farms. Visit just for the coffee. It is outstanding! You are sure to meet the locals there. ARGUS FARMS IS AMAAAAAZING!!! Argus farms truly goes above and beyond for their customers. I am big on service and they way a company treats people. For me, you can have the best product in the world. If you treat people poorly or act entitled and unappreciative to business their customers give them then I write the entire place off. Argus farms not only cares about your business but it feels like they care about you as a person, too. On top of fabulous service, their produce is fantastic! They have a wonderful freezer section filled with all kinds of fresh meats. read more

I live walking distance from the store. On Saturday and Sundays it is really amazing to walk get a carton of eggs, a loaf of the Henry street bread, jam and other staples of food. The staff is super friendly and always greets you with a kind hello and a smile. What can I say I'm in like with this store. read more

One of my favorite places in Ann Arbor. They're kind, friendly, and genuinely excited about supporting local farmers and bakers and being part of the neighborhood. Their matcha latte is whisked and not too sweet. The drink menu has great coffee and a lot of interesting alternatives to coffee. read more

Their customer service today made me very angry. I wanted bread, milk, a coffee and a scone. I had just got done volunteering for the day so true enough I did not look too fancy. But the lady at the register did not even let me finish my order before she insisted that I go get my milk. I did not want it sitting out while my coffee was made and I sat there and drank it. So, I traversed the few yards between the till and the milk, my bread already being on the counter, and I came back only to have her move on to help a different customer. Two strikes. Failing to let me finish my order and then blowing me off. If you think judging a customer by their looks is a long term plan, then there is a good chance that you are in the wrong business. I went on to Morgan and York where they sell the same things I needed and have always treated me great even if I did just step out of the garden for the first time in the day. read more

Wonderful coffee and there is no up charge for almond/soy milk so that's a plus. The Honey Lattes are my favorite. The staff is always pleasant as well. I love the reclaimed wood decor/seating. Haven't done too much grocery shopping there but it has a good selection of veggies and enough to make a meal..... All at varying prices set by the farmers. Overall a great addition to the neighborhood and adds life to a formerly blighted spot. read more

I LOVE Argus! They make an amazing commitment to their farmers and community by offering only locally made and grown food. The staff are all wonderful. The bread from Crust is seriously as good (maybe better?) than Zingerman's at less cost. Their business model is also amazing, a full 80% of the price of the goods goes straight back to the producer. I wanted to like this place: they pay the farmers a higher percentage, but theres nothing i particularly enjoy about it. Especially annoying are all the mom and dads who think the sitting area is a playground for their kids to bother other customers. Being "kid friendly" is great, in a park NOT a coffeeshop! We are so grateful that Argus Farm Stop is in our neighborhood. Such a wonderful addition to the west side of town. My husband and I now have a routine of walking to Argus for coffee and pastries on the weekends and everything is delicious. It's very convenient for quality bread and other items last minute. It's nice to support local farms, but this isn't a place to catch a deal. It's very expensive. Excellent white fish, meats and eggs. I grew up near blocks by the airport, which also supports local farms. 30 ears of corn for 3 bucks and a bushel of veggies for 7 bucks, etc... This place is nothing like that. You will pay 5 bucks for eggs 2 bucks for a pound of potatoes, etc... So just be aware, eating healthy is for the wealthy at Argus. If you have the cash, you'll like this place. I hope they expand and grow. Try the white fish and uncured smoked bacon! You won't find better! The veggies are all good and fresh. Grab a honey latte too. read more
