We went with a big group and loved it! The waitress was super nice and knowledgeable. When she says it's Nigerian spicy....I should have believed her! This was painfully spicy and I LOVED IT. The spice comes from scotch bonnet peppers and has a fruity hint due to that. Absolutely DIVINE. The rice is smoky and cooked perfectly. The plantains are sweet and smoky. Our friend got the fish and loved it. We had friends who got their other suya dishes and liked them as well. My husband and I split our goat suya dish and still had leftovers! They are in a complex with a big parking lot. The other half of the restaurant is a lounge only open at night.

I Have not tried the food but I been here several times to pick up. I would love to give a bigger rating when I eat here. Nice music. And pretty Girls

It's been years since I've last visited. The food however is still just as good as I remember it. While I was in town briefly I knew before I left I had to come back here it has been too long. I love suya and the spice is perfect it's not at all heat level that's intolerable it's just enough to give you a kick. Everything was hot and fresh. Of course when it comes to jollof there are always debates. At home my jollof has some heat to it and the flavor profile is a bit more pronounced. I can respect that everyone can't tolerate heat so it's like a mid ground with the jollof. I really like the decor, it's really laid back and just a vibe. I try to visit different places when I come visit my sister but I'm gonna come back here the food has never disappointed.

I ordered takeout and had a great experience from start to finish. The woman at the front desk was friendly and took our order quickly and efficiently. The wait time was about 25 minutes, which was very reasonable for the amount of food that was being prepared. The food was absolutely amazing hands down one of the best African restaurants in the area! Everything was fresh, well-prepared, and full of flavor. The red snapper was perfectly fried with just the right amount of spice, the plantains were sweet and tender, and the jollof rice was full of rich flavor. The Red Snapper was the star of the show for me. The restaurant was clean and welcoming with a few dine-in guests enjoying their meals while we waited. You can truly taste the love and care put into the food. No complaints at all everything was delicious! I'll definitely be coming back to dine in.

One of my favorite Nigerian spots in Houston! Since I last came here, they have renovated the interior from what it initially used to look like with the removal of the bar so it does feel a little bit smaller than it already did. However, the food is just as great tasting as it has always been. This time around, I got the jollof plate with beef which also comes with plantain, spinach, and lettuce. The portions were a good size as well and I felt filled. Service was also very accommodating for a big group I was with. I definitely recommend if you are looking for Nigerian cuisine!

I came here for a quick bite while in Houston. The parking was ample as it is located in a plaza. The interior of the restaurant is marble with black velvet couch seating but not in a luxurious way. You could tell the seating was dirty even though it is black. We were seated immediately as the restaurant was not busy, however, we had to wait a while for our food. I ordered the following: Designer stew plate- 7/10, this dish was underwhelming and surprisingly cold even though it had just come out the kitchen. The tripe was also slightly overcooked. The plantain was okay, but white rice was good and not overcooked. Shrimp suya w/ jollof and plantain- 8/10, the shrimp suya was not bad but the shrimp was slightly overcooked, it definitely helped add flavor to the jollof which was bland. During my second visit to Houston, we ordered takeout, and I have to say that the shrimp in the shrimp suya did not taste fresh and the presentation was unsightly. It looked like something that was left out on the counter for at least a week then repackaged. I couldn't bear to eat it because it looked like a mushy mess. Ultimately, I would definitely say that this place wouldn't be my 1st, 2nd, 3rd, or even 7th choice to eat at again if I was craving good Nigerian food.

My friend and I were super excited to try a sit down Nigerian restaurant. While the food was great, the service was non-existent. We literally had to BEG for our food. However, I want to share that the food is excellent. My Suya shrimp was well seasoned, and the plantain was perfect. Although I wish my Jollof was spicier, it was tasty. I also wish my Zobo had more of a ginger flavor, but it was still refreshing. The spot wasn't too loud, and the art/decor was gorgeous! Parking is available in the front and back of the building. Would I go back to sit down and eat? No. This spot is definitely a grab and go/pick up situation, unless you have time to be ignored by staff.

Giving this place 5 stars because a large group of us swarmed in midweek for lunch and I'm pretty sure they were not quite staffed for the numbers, but our food still came out in overall decent time and everything tasted delicious. In terms of service, our waitress was doing her best, no complaints. The decor is interesting. Clean and modern, a bit more lounge-ish. I really did enjoy the food.

This was my second time here. From the last time I was here 1-2 years ago, they've changed the interior. They have a lounge but the two times I've been in there I haven't seen anyone in there. I personally ate the designer stew and it had just the right spice. The portion is very plentiful. The efo was pretty good as well. My fiancé had the jollof and didn't think it had much flavor this time compared to the last time we went. The place could be a little be cleaner , but the staff was pretty nice

Overall, I found the food to be very flavorful, well seasoned, and unique. My daughter and I actually ended up liking each other's meals more than our own, so we switched plates, which worked out well. We also ordered a few extra items, including wings and yams. The pounded yam was interesting and very different from anything I usually eat. It is probably not something I would go out of my way to order again, but I am glad I tried it and now understand a little better how it is eaten. The one disappointing part of the visit was the ordering experience. The young man who rang us up was polite, but he was unable to make any recommendations. He said he had been working there for about three months and still could not really suggest what to order. For someone like me, who is unfamiliar with this type of food, recommendations would have been very helpful. I would have appreciated some guidance on the most popular dishes, common choices, or what first-time customers usually enjoy. That said, the owner was extremely kind. She came out to our table, spoke with us, and helped explain how to eat some of the food we had ordered. I really appreciated that. She came across as a very sweet person, and based on her hospitality alone, I would come back to support the business. This style of food may not personally be my cup of tea or something I will crave often, but I respect the flavor, the care, and the local business behind it. I would give Bantu House four stars. It could have been closer to 3.5 for me personally, mostly because of the lack of ordering guidance, but the owner's kindness and the quality of the food pushed it to four.

Then there's the stuff you get plenty of in any city: pizza, chinese, sandwiches, chicken places, etc. But a real rare gem is ChopnBlok. It's West African cuisine, which is not exactly something you see on every street corner. But more importantly, this food is clearly made with love. It's not cheap: a couple of bowls and a tea comes out to nearly $100 after tip, but you're paying for real quality here. My dad and I both ordered a Golden Bowl and added steak. The steak was the best part. It had this amazing smokey flavor that made me wish I just ordered double steak instead of steak as an add on. I initially visited the ChopnBlok in POST, and was blown away with the flavors, so I've always wanted to come back and try their stand alone spot. If you're a person greatly adverse to spice, just be aware that there are some subtle hints of a kick in this dish, but I found it to be just the right amount: it let you know that it was there, but stayed in its lane.

Even though we went to the smaller location at The Post, we were still expecting the same level of…read morequality and experience associated with this establishment. I have to say that my dish was tasty, but there were several things that disappointed me. First, the prices were outrageous for what was offered. Second, the use of flimsy plastic utensils and cheap napkins felt out of place. You would think that a place with such a prestigious reputation would provide higher-quality disposable items, at the very least. Overall, while the food was good, the experience did not justify the cost. This will probably be a one-and-done visit for me.

After seeing so many positive reviews on social media, I was excited when my sister brought me here…read moreafter trying it herself. We placed our order online and arrived about 30 minutes later for pickup. The restaurant was extremely busy with takeout and delivery orders, so we ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes after arriving. The atmosphere was definitely hectic, with staff constantly moving in and out and diners packed throughout the restaurant, but I can confidently say the wait was worth it. My sister and I ordered the half egusi and half efo combo, and it was more than enough food for both of us. This was only my second time trying authentic Nigerian food, and it has quickly become one of my favorite cuisines. I loved the bold blend of spices, the rich and comforting flavors, and the perfect level of heat. The meats could have been cooked a little longer since some pieces were slightly tough and chewy, but the flavor was still incredible. The fufu (pounded yam) was silky smooth and absolutely addictive. It was the perfect vessel for soaking up every bit of the soups. Overall, despite the long wait and chaotic atmosphere, the food completely delivered. If you are looking for flavorful and authentic Nigerian cuisine, this spot is definitely worth trying.

I always order through door dash, I have Ben talking about this all week. I finally ordered my food, it usually takes an hour through door dash but they have to remake my order (not sure why). It came in 2 hours and it was about an inch down or oil. I expect oil on the surface like the first few times. But I poured oil out over and over again, there was very little okra. VERY VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED AND FEEL SICKLY!
