I always order through door dash, I have Ben talking about this all week. I finally ordered my food, it usually takes an hour through door dash but they have to remake my order (not sure why). It came in 2 hours and it was about an inch down or oil. I expect oil on the surface like the first few times. But I poured oil out over and over again, there was very little okra. After seeing so many positive reviews on social media, I was excited when my sister brought me here after trying it herself. We placed our order online and arrived about 30 minutes later for pickup. The restaurant was extremely busy with takeout and delivery orders, so we ended up waiting an additional 30 minutes after arriving. The atmosphere was definitely hectic, with staff constantly moving in and out and diners packed throughout the restaurant, but I can confidently say the wait was worth it. My sister and I ordered the half egusi and half efo combo, and it was more than enough food for both of us. This was only my second time trying authentic Nigerian food, and it has quickly become one of my favorite cuisines. I loved the bold blend of spices, the rich and comforting flavors, and the perfect level of heat. The meats could have been cooked a little longer since some pieces were slightly tough and chewy, but the flavor was still incredible. The fufu (pounded yam) was silky smooth and absolutely addictive. It was the perfect vessel for soaking up every bit of the soups. The best African Restaurant, I tried so far. We waited about 40 minutes, which wasn't a huge bomber being that they cook every to order. I don't mind waiting, for quality food. Both dishes came out hot, with the perfect amount of spices. Hum...hum...hum... If you are craving authentic African cuisine, this place is a must try! I visited Famous Princess African Kitchen for the first time and had a great experience! I ordered half egusi, half efo, and jollof rice. Everything was delicious!. I'm sensitive to spices, but the flavors were so good, I continued taking small bites at a time. The portions are HUGE! So much food I could barely close my to-go container. Definitely worth it. Wow, wow, wow! Let's talk about the customer service I received. The gentleman was very professional and nice when he took my order. I was told to call ahead and place my order because the phone lines tend to get really busy. As soon as I arrived my food was ready. I asked to speak with the owner/chef and was told she may be occupied so I placed another order and while I was waiting the owner came out and I introduced myself letting her know I had heard good things about her food. I came for the Abula as they call it. As for the price I guess it's worth it because the meat portions are plenty and if I were to count at least 12 pieces of assorted meat. My friend tried it too and agreed. We sent it back and they did take it off the check but still felt the need to send out the chef. I let her know that the egusi didn't taste right and she said "you're not the first person I've served today." Ma'am, maybe that's the problem. It's 6PM, shouldn't be serving the same batch all day. OHHH THE DISAPPOINTMENTS CONTINUES!!! I've been wanting to experience this place for so long because it's near my place of residence, but I've always been skeptical about it. I finally had the opportunity to stop by, but I was met with disappointments. First, when I arrived, there was not a worker in sight. There was only one customer at the bar waiting for her order, I assumed. There was a man sitting at a table also waiting for an interview, I believe. I scanned the room for a menu but I didn't see any, not even a wall menu. So, I just continued to stand at the counter waiting for service but it took forever for someone to come from the back. After waiting for five minutes or more, I decided to just leave. Five minutes is my wait limit. I was tired of standing there hungry and listening to their conversations in the kitchen. After I walked out and was already in my vehicle, a lady came running to my passenger window apologizing and asking me to come back in. I told her that it's not a problem at all and that I will come back in. Secondly, I asked for a menu so that I could see what they have to offer. I wanted stewed chicken soup but they were out of chicken, so I decided on the goat soup, but they were out of goat. As a result, anything that consisted of chicken or goat on the menu, I was unable to order it because they did not have it in stock. #RedFlag! I wanted Jollof rice with chicken but I ended up ordering just plain Jollof rice. The Jollof rice was very delicious. I enjoyed it thoroughly but would have enjoyed it more with the chicken. Overall, this was just an okay experience for me. The ambience of the place was extremely dead. There was no music playing and no one dining inside. It was almost as if they were going out of business; absolutely no liveliness about the place at all! The customer service was okay. The vibe I was feeling was a negative energy so I don't think I will ever go back. I'll just have to make a long trip one Saturday and try Cafe Abuja on westheimer because I truly love Nigerian cuisine. I used to eat it all the time as a kid because my uncle-in-law is from Nigeria and he could make the best Nigerian goat soup and fish soup! OMG! But, anyway I gave this establishment three stars. We had Egusi and the vegetable egusi with beef. So starting off, the parking is HORRIBLE!!! Prob best to order ahead and pick up. The lady at the front was nice. It was our first time, so we were asking for recommendations, which she didn't give but answered all the questions. I asked if it was spicy. She said no, but the vegetable one is. Not the original egusi. However, the food was flavorful and delicious. The beef, however, was super hard and unable to even chew, which is why I didn't give 5 stars. Food: pretty good I would definitely eat it again. Service: left a lot to be desired. The person who took my order ignored me by taking other patrons order instead of mine and I was in the front of the line. When the patron brought to her attention that I was there first she told him him first. He refused she huffed and took my order. Same employee was very attentive to other tables by giving them a bowl of water for their hands which is customary for the dishes I ordered. The music is great and people are very nice. As for the food.... My goodness it's so freaking delicious. All the flavors are there and even the little kick of spice. I stick with Cafe Abuja for a reason. Great service, answers their phone like they appreciate their customers, and the best West African cuisine I've encountered in Texas. Not to mention a really cute and clean restaurant. After spending 8 minutes going over my order as the woman on the other end talked to me and everyone else she was encountering at the restaurant, I asked her to please just repeat my order back to me because she was clearly distracted. She then proceeded to tell me to text her my order instead. WTF maybe you could have started with that. Maybe you could have your menu on your website so customers can order online. First time eating Nigerian food and I am glad Famous Princess Kitchen was my first experience. My friend had previously dinned here and she spoke highly of them. So she took me my nephew and another friend here this past Saturday. Very cozy, small, clean restaurant with multiple seating areas. Everyone was super nice and very helpful. Our waitress was informative and patient with us whole ordering and made suggestions. We all ordered two orders of Egusi with chicken & fufu and a side order of plantains. For our beverages four of us had Malta and one had an Orange Fanta. While we waited for our food another lady came by to check on us and she brought us two bowls of water to wash our hands. Food took a while to come out but it was worth it. I really enjoyed everything! The lady who brought us the bowls of water came back by to see how our food was. Waitress was attentive as well. The food is definitely good (we ordered the Egusi and designer stew). However the customer service is definitely sub par. I don't think I have ever been to a restaurant in Houston that does not have a glass for water or ice to offer its customers. Hopefully they will realize that it is not just about the food but about the customer "experience" as a whole. I might try it one more time but for the price (definitely more expensive than most other Nigerian restaurants), it is definitely not worth it. If I am paying an average of $75 for 2 meals, I definitely expect to be able to get a glass of ice water. read more

Food is good, parking is difficult, wait time is excessive, the ambiance may seem nice but it's not very ventilated and very hot, the bathrooms are not sanitary. While the service is poor, I can see the workers are doing their best in a very understaffed establishment. I'd say prices are already exorbitant as is but given the aforementioned factors (parking, wait time, facilities/ambiance and services), I'd say it's ridiculous for anyone who decides to dine in. The restaurant started out well but has taken a dive. Perhaps a shift in business model towards the commercial catering business (which is profitable and I understand) over sit-in and to-go. If the option to give a 0 star was available, I would and I don't normally give reviews. I was driving to my home in Cypress and stumbled upon this African/Nigerian restaurant and happily decided to go in and support a business of my own heritage. A very BIG mistake! I entered and stood there for 10 minutes or more, without any acknowledgement from anyone. There was a Hispanic lady fixing something behind the counter area and after I called out to her, she eventually got someone behind a door with an electrical warning sign. A guy came out and aggressively pointed to the menu (WITHOUT PRICES OF THE ITEMS) to me on the counter. I didn't think much of anything at that moment, so I ordered one egusi soup and one goat pepper soup to go, along with two can drinks. The food took 30 minutes to come back from behind that door with the electrical warning sign and I was charged a whopping $65.00 by that guy. It was my first visit and I will never go there again and have shared my experience on social media and with my neighbors and friends. This place should not be in business with the price gouging there, especially when the place smells like an open market in the worst slums of Makoko, near Lagos. read more

Sometimes the place is too hot to even stand and wait on your food. They will tell you on the phone no wait time it will be ready. You get there and you are waiting. It was my first visit to this establishment. When I walked in around about 2pm all the lights where off and the staff was sitting so o assumed they were closed. Our waitress/cook then gets up and lets me know they are open.? Me n my guest go ahead and proceed to stay cause we were really hungry . I rarely write reviews, and this may be preaching to the choir, but do not come to this restaurant unless you have no plans for the day and don't mind terrible customer service. I've eaten here once before and the food was good but the service was rude and it took forever for the food to come out. I thought placing an order via doordash and picking it up might expedite the time and avoid the service. So wrong on both counts. Doordash provided a time for when the order would be ready for pick up - an hour and twenty minutes after that time is when I was handed the food (over two hours after placing the order). Customers in front of me who hadn't already paid were cancelling orders due to the wait. I asked for a refund or at least a replacement on the order for something that was ready for takeaway and both were rejected. I'm and adventurous eater and have waited at many hole in the wall restaurants, but this was the worst I've ever seen. And the parking...sheesh. read more
