Wow. We were totally blown away by this place! They have a gorgeous menu and the ambiance is just amazing. Quiet conversation and even though they have a lot of tables things are arranged so you feel secluded. We were in Springfield for a meeting and were looking for a fun restaurant and found this on Yelp. I wish I could give them more than 5 ! Our waiter Cody was out of this world! Super helpful with the menu and asked us questions about likes and dislikes and made amazing recommendations! He was very attentive but not hovering, which I find is a rare trait in wait staff. Um. HELLO? This place is exceptional. I flew into Springfield for a customer account visit this week and was really craving sushi. I thought to myself: "Now Lia, think about this. Do you really want to roll the dice -- and get sushi? In Missouri?" and I'll tell you what fam... the answer is a resounding YES. I showed up during happy hour and sat at the bar. I enjoyed the Paper Crane (twice) as my cocktail. My bartender was Caleb. I ordered Salmon Nigiri, the A5 fried rice, one sushi roll, and their Oysters. You would never guess you would find the level of Sushi you find here in Missouri. This is one of my favorite restaurants to visit during my travels. The food is always amazing. The scallop crudo was one of my favorite best bites of 2025 so far. The service is great, the food is amazing and the atmosphere and decor is stunning. The only omakase experience to compete with this place was a sushi restaurant I ate at in Miami. Sake selection beats anyone in the Midwest, even liquor stores. We stumbled across Ariake Sushi & Robata while looking for a ramen spot nearby, but somehow this place popped up in the search -- a bit misleading since ramen isn't on their menu. Still, we gave it a shot. The atmosphere felt like it was trying to be fine dining, especially with the prices -- you're looking at about $20 per plate, minimum. But the vibe overall was pretty casual, which made it feel slightly mismatched for the price point. Our waitress was doing double duty at the bar and serving tables, and I've got to give her credit -- she was hustling and handling it well. I've eaten at some highly rated sushi restaurants, including Nobu, and authentic omakase spots in Japan, and Ariake is the only place where I've walked away thinking, every single penny was worth it. The price point is 100% worth it when you consider what you are getting in return. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, while the decor is so modern and chic. I could not stop taking pictures of the inside because I couldn't wait to show my friends this gorgeous find. The service is impeccable, I can really appreciate when a staff is attentive without hovering. The staff clearly knows and cares about what they're serving, and they answered all my questions and assisted me with choosing pieces on the menu without simply trying to upsell. They even recommended how the food is best enjoyed and how to get the best bites! The main thing that sets Ariake apart is definitely the quality. I did not expect to find such fresh and quality seafood in Springfield. I was impressed by the varying flavor profiles and the precision all on par with (and in some cases, honestly surpassing) the high-end sushi experiences I've had. The beautiful presentation was also obviously a plus. If you truly appreciate quality sushi, you won't regret spending your time and money to come here. They have fantastic " chef sashimi" and I got it with a side of rice so I could make a nigiri inspired dish. This might be top 3 sushi for me in the US. I generally try not to eat sushi in landlocked states because I usually am disappointed but this place was legitimately better than most of the coastal restaurants I've had, and even some in Japan, Hong Kong, East Asia. Everything was extremely fresh and clearly prepared with love and attention. The toro absolutely melted the second it hits your tongue. The restaurant has a dark, clubby vibe. It's not my favorite type of scene and our booth was missing a bolt or something so if we moved or the people seated behind us moved, everything moved. Service was attentive, friendly, and very professional. The manager checked in with us mid meal. A very enjoyable experience and a place to treat yourself or celebrate! There are two things everyone will notice with this place: Setting/ambiance: The place wreaks of a big city, trendy, sleek and way modernistic feel. Price: (4) people and two alcoholic drinks on the tab, it was $231 buckaroos, without the tip. And I don't recall anything too exotic being brought to the table. But this is what you'll get into at this place, as they serve small plates etc. One entree that was excellent: The seas bass. It had an excellent preparation. The seafood soup was quite good and had a complex broth preparation, to get that certain taste. Overall, this place really makes a to-do, in saying how this is flown in; that is xxx grade that. All, quite the hype this place does in their presenting. There will be some small segment in Springfield that are willing to constantly demand this level of perceived quality; and pay this kind of price. Fancy late night food! For starters, I had: Premium nigiri - 10 piece (5/5) This was delicious, I especially like the mackerel and bass. Soy and wasabi are already in the sushi rice - and the staff will warn you to try a bite first before using any soy sauce. For most, it didn't need any extra soy, but I always like a little extra salt on the salmon and tuna. Just a drop or two works. The only thing that I wasn't used to was the shrimp nigiri. In other sushi places, the shrimp is cooked all the way through. This version was purposefully undercooked, and that just might be how it's done in fancier places. It is interesting, but you might struggle with it if you have texture issues - it was a little rubbery and I definitely prefer the fully cooked version more. The Chilean sea bass was amazing too (4.5/5) I loved the skin in particular, crispy and full of flavor. The bass itself had a hefty portion and it was all good. I thought the miso foam gave it an extra shot of flavor, I liked eating the bubbles. And the mashed potatoes and sauce was good too. This is the first time I ever had sea bass, so I don't know how to feel about it. If you don't really need to try it, I have a feeling the grilled lobster tail would be just as good. Service was great! (4/5) They swoop in the second after you finish to collect your plates. It was impressive, but I'm not sure how to feel about it! I couldn't tell if they just wanted to perform good service or if they were rushing me. In general, they were all very friendly, helpful, and conversational, even if they were in a bit of a hurry. This restaurant is definitely a good late night spot for an expensive date or special occasion. read more

I was literally traveling through Springfield on my way from California to the East Coast. Being from California, I have been eating sushi for twenty years. This place is unbelievable, all the more so because it's in Springfield. Elegant, staffed by people who clearly really know what they're doing and take pride init, this is one of the best sushi places in the country. The dishes are beautiful, creatively prepared and presented, and the manager (Terry, who by the way is a knockout), suggested I order a different kind of sake. I have never had this happen before, and she was right. The chef (I sat that the bar) saw how much I was enjoying my meal, and make me a special item, just for me. The restaurant itself is gorgeous, beautifully decorated, elegant and spacious. I had just finished a hard, dirty days' drive, was dressed like I was homeless and so on, and the staff treated me like I was the President. This is the total package here! Group of 5 of us went in as we heard great things about this place. It began with us looking at the menu and ordering a couple apps, the shishito peppers were spot on and the edamame. Then we were lost on what to get and our server, who was incredible, said that he could just order for the table, Omakase basically. That was the best decision we made as we got dishes that we probably would not have ordered and we were all blown away! The others there were extremely friendly and made other recommendations like the Wagyu beef that we cooked at the table! We also had sushi cigars that came in a cigar box. We had much much more too.
