We stopped here on our way back to NoVa from Myrtle Beach, SC, and found this place to be exceptional. The place is nice and the staff very friendly. I ordered the beef and chicken tikka combo, which was seasoned perfectly and tender. Nothing lacked flavor. Only thing that I wish was different was the naan that it came with, along with the size of the meat. Typically, every kabob joint I've been to has kabob platters that come with a side of a whole naan bread, but as you can tell from the pic, that was not the case and the naan bread seemed more of a pita bread. Also, the side of chickpeas was a fairly small portion as well. The size of the kabobs themselves were a lot smaller compared to what you would find at a kabob joint in NoVa and one of my chicken kabobs was slightly undercooked so I couldn't eat it. That said, the food definitely has flavor, comes out hot and fresh and looks very appetizing. Although I wish some things were different and could be improved, I would still eat here again because those are just minor things when compared to the taste and quality this place has to offer. If anyone finds themselves in the area and wants some kabobs, definitely give this place a try. read more

The food is absolutely amazing here, no matter what you get. The lady at the front was extremely helpful in describing the menu. We ordered the beef and chicken kobidah and it came out within minutes straight to our table. The bread is fresh, warm, fluffy and absolutely delightful. It was like a nice formal restaurant in the way they checked on us and made sure we were happy with our order. I can't say enough about this place; the space is clean and stylish, I got the falafel and it was fantastic nice and crispy on the outside, THEE best pistachio baklava I've ever had (!) but the real standout of this establishment is the owner Abdullah. He really knows how to give great hospitality; so friendly, funny and eager to get to know his consumers. It's such a shame that I had to take my food to go as there wasn't anybody else in the restaurant at the time, it's really somewhere you need to sit down and enjoy your meal and Abdullah will make you feel like he's personally serving you in his home. Just such a hidden gem of an eatery which is saying something because of how hard it has to be to stand out on the Carytown strip. Sandwiched along Carytown, it's easy to miss this spot from the street but I urge you to stop in. Genuine, kind staff and the freshest food. I wasn't hungry when we entered, but I gobbled the cumin and paprika loaded hummus like it was my last meal on earth. Their gyro was a perfect comfort meal on a bitter, windy day. Their sign does not lie, it is truly the best kabob in town. I tried the chicken tikka and the falafel sandwich and everything about both of these items was amazing. The pita for the falafel sandwich was perfect, and the falafel itself was perfectly fried. Even without adding the tzaziki, it's not too dry and plenty flavorful on it's own, but adding the tzaziki only made it soooo much better. The two kinds of rice with the chicken tikka were amazing and the chikpea side was a great addition with a little kick. The chicken also was perfectly cooked and seasoned, bringing the whole plate together. I will without a doubt come here many many times again read more

I've eaten here several times and the food was always delicious and arrived quickly. The woman at the counter was always nice. The person I would go with especially liked their spicy chickpeas, and I would always order the spinach as a side. This place is great if you are looking for good kabobs and overall great authentic afghan food. The spicy chickpeas side was fantastic as was the less spicy but flavorful spinach side. We tried multiple skewers including chicken breast, lamb, ground chicken, ground beef - all excellent. Moving from NOVA where there were lots of Afghan restaurants I felt Richmond was lacking in that one area (at least I've not yet found a place that compared to the places all over towards DC). Then these folks relocated here from NOVA and for sure do not disappoint. The folks that own and run the place know what they are doing and are very welcoming and friendly to chat with.
