Just an update, haven't reviewed in a few years, been coming pretty regular still, and it's still great. Today's visit, the chicken was nice, the choice in veggies ready in the warmers was a little bit less than usual, but as long as they have steamed medley's, I'm happy. That's something we like about this place, it's fried chicken with an assortment of good vegatable sides. Everyone elses' sides is either fries/beans or if they have good sides, they're not fried chicken but rotisserie, etc. So that sets this place apart some. The Chicken Place is one of the better chicken places (haha) in the Fort Worth Area. It's a bit of a hassle to get to since there's a ton of construction being done on Rufe Snow, but I think it's worth it. I ordered the Chicken Tender plate with fries, rolls, gravy, jalapeño ranch (extra) and added some spicy seasoning. First and foremost- the spicy seasoning is more of a spice seasoning rather than actually being spicy. The tenders were good- they were fresh, decently sized, and didn't have an excess amount of breading. The rolls weren't great- they were a little stale and you could tell they were just cheap frozen rolls you could get from the store. The fries were made to order, which was nice. As I was waiting, I saw that most of the sides were already prepped and arranged on a heated pan so you could see. The staff was not great- while my order went smoothly, they were being quite rude to other patrons that came by. Its a shame because the food at this place is pretty good. Maybe they were having a bad day- hopefully this isn't something that goes on on a daily basis. I am going to come here again, but hoping the staff is a little bit better. read more

I do not think I have even gone inside. We drive through at least one a month for a quick family meal and rarely have leftovers. We have order twice from The Chicken Place, both times through a delivery App. We have never been to the Watagua location. Between the two orders we've tried the tenders, gizzards, breast, leg and wing, The chicken and the tenders are very good with a nice crispy crust. The only sauce we tried was the cream gravy which was good and went well with the gizzards and the mashed potatoes. The cold slaw was a combination of the creamy and vinegar varieties and well seasoned with black pepper. I'm a fan but if you strictly like the sweet creamy cold slaw you may be disappointed. I do have some hopefully constructive suggestions for the take out / delivery side of the business. 1). Cold slaw should be in a separate container and not in one of the styrofoam wells with the rolls and the chicken. You end up with wet rolls and chicken by the time it's delivered. 2). Add the options for light or dark meat to the fried chicken. I understand this places an extra burden on the business and I would expect to pay more. I know this is understood by the business as you have an option for chicken breast on the meal at an additional $0.75 cost. A second option for all light or all dark would seem to be an easy update. We will definitely order again from The Chicken Place or maybe try going to the Watagua location but not until the weather cools. read more

Went there around 9pm 10/07/2021 and order a family meal chicken strips with three sides. Fries tasted like they were thrown back into the fryer, they tasted greasy as hell. The gravy was watered down, no consistency and the mashed potatoes tasted burnt almost as if we were being given the remaining portion from what was left at the bottom of the pan. Im not sure what all these 5 star rave reviews are about, probably fake reviews. Stay the hell away from this place. I just tossed 30+ dollars out the window, what a time waste. This restaurant generally gets its business but though the drive through window and online which means the dining room is empty. With that being said, the dining area was fairly clean when I stopped in for dinner. There's plenty of seating and the staff was attentive. The 2 piece chicken dinner was fairly priced (no more than the restaurant up the street-about the same). The chicken was served hot with a yeast roll and a side (the green beans are delicious and seasoned). All in all, a pleasant visit and good food. read more

Solid A-OK, though there is room for improvement. Heading south on Rufe Snow around lunch time, Thuy decides she would like some fried chicken and why don't we try out that "new" place. "Sure", I say, "I'm always up for new." Well we get inside and see fried chicken livers on the menu so that's a done deal. We augment (after a bit of figuring how to get the most bang for the buck on rolls and no sides) with a few pieces of chicken (comes with 2 rolls, no sides). Livers are cooked up fresh to order and are pretty tasty, though I wish they had a bit more breading on them. I also still crave my sweet red sauce (Brown's Fried Chicken days), but alas the livers are served with gravy. Thuy is perfectly happy with the livers, and the gravy. The chicken let us down. It was not particularly hot, nor was it very crispy. I suspect it would have been OK if it was more recently cooked, but the chicken we received was not. Bottom line: The chicken livers saved it from a 2-star review, but there is another chicken place (just a few more blocks south) that I like better. read more

Ok, I know this is just a fast food place -but seriously best chicken strips ever!! I mean WOW. Crispy, crunchy, moist chicken inside - and great poritons. This was my first time dining at the chicken place. I was looking for home cooked food, therefore I chose this place. I ordered a 3 piece chicken tenders. the tenders were fresh. However, all the sides were old. they were displayed behind glass sitting in warmers. I decided to order mashed potatoes with gravy for my side. T he potatos we're old and crusty with fresh gravy on top. I was given a old roll even though there was fresh one's available. I went back to the counter to ask for a fresh roll. Came in on 05/31/22 at 9:45pm. A boy took our order, wasn't wearing a name tag so I didn't get his name. I tried to order a kits meal with corn nuggets and was told I couldn't sub sides, so I went with a snack pack and told them I didn't need a drink anyways. Boy proceeds to try to upsell me for a drink. He didn't really listen anyways to our order. We go to pay and turns out it's card only because they've closed the registers (this was at around 9:47) so we paid with card. Food comes out at 9:50 and it's in a takeout bag. We are told to leave as "you need to leave, we close at nine!" To which we replied with "isn't it only 10 till?" Our food was cold and tasted like s**t as well. It looked like something had chewed through our takeout containers. Another man I believe was a grill cook comes out and begins getting distraught with us, until they kick us out at 9:55. If you "close in five minutes" tell us that before we order. I wanted a sit down meal and then had to drive ten minutes home to sit at my kitchen table to eat. Unless you're interested in snobby workers and greasy chicken, avoid this place. And another thing? If you close at nine and you have people EATING INSIDE THE DINING ROOM, DONT KICK THEM OUT. The food was delivered on time, the delivery person was so kind and offered to stay and help set up which we did not need. The food was absolutely the best. Visited this location for lunch 1pm 8.24.21. I'm not one to complain if I can get through the meal which wasn't the case this time. The chicken tenders were extremely dry and just warm enough from the heat lamps. Seems they had been sitting a long time. After 1 full tender, I decided I can't eat this. I let the employee know and she told the manager. The manager came to the front and argued that they were fresh and gave me 4 new tenders from the same batch that he already served me. Update: Skip all the corporate places, and COME HERE! Chicken always cooked perfect, tenders are colossal, sides are great, and they have BLUE BELL ice cream. They are open til 10 (most places here close at 9) and even late night quality has not been compromised. Original: Friendly staff, excellent chicken, great sides, and blue bell ice cream. Very clean restaurant inside makes it welcoming. Came here a few times before realizing they've been around since 1979. 3 piece combo is Texas size for those with a big appetite.
