Good barbecue -- not mouth-watering, spectacular barbecue. The prices are pretty reasonable -- $7.25 for a BBQ sandwich, side, and drink. I have had the Memphis-style pork and a taste of the chopped beef brisket and they were both pretty good. I thought Memphis-style was dry-rubbed with spices, but without any sauce it just tastes like smoky meat. Having lived in NC for many years, I was disappointed there was no Carolina-style (Eastern NC to be specific). On the menu there is a salad with "Carolina" style, but I'm pretty sure it is not what I would expect so I dare not try it and be disappointed. Overall, this is a good place for barbecue, but don't expect the styles to be in sync with the regions for which they are labeled. read more

I came here last weekend to check it out for the first time. The overall setup is very similar to Fuddruckers. You walk in, place your order, take the pager and seat yourself. When the food is ready you pick it up and take it back to wherever you were sitting. Also at your table are 2 kinds of barbecue sauces. Jalepeno or however you spell it and original. The "J" one wasn't really spicy at all. It's basically the "J" flavor without the spiciness. The original was very mild and nothing special about the taste. I tried the texas rib plate today. The texas toast was really good. It was crisp buttery perfection. The corn muffin is mouth watering and very yummy! The potato salad is kind of mustardy, but better than most places. The ribs on the other hand, were pretty average. To be honest, they taste about the same as safeway's ribs in my opinion which isn't a bad thing, but nothing special considering the plate was $18 for 6 ribs. My co-workers and I hit up Armadillo Willy's every once in a while. Our favorite days to go are Tuesdays and Thursdays when they have their Tri-Tip Sandwiches. I've had the Chopped Brisket Sandwich, Mushroom Swiss Burger, Poblano Chicken Sandwich and Ultimate Hickory Bacon Burger. All of them are pretty decent. My co-workers really like the Turkey & Avocado Stack and all of their sides are pretty good. A few of my co-workers and I were really hungry after a long morning of prepping for meetings and calls. So, we decided to come to Armadillo Willy's to get some BBQ. We had just beat the lunch rush and got to order upon arriving. Three of us ordered the Chopped Brisket Sandwich. I got mine with a side of potato salad. The brisket was delicious - very flavorful. I got the two sides of BBQ sauce since I couldn't decide between hot or mild. The hot sauce is awesome - I would totally get that again. The potato salad was pretty yummy - I'm sometimes disappointed with potato salads and this one was actually delicious. My co-worker ordered a side of bean and he was surprised that it looked liked a chili - he's from the south and they don't do their beans like that I guess. Other than that, it was a good meal. Not the BEST BBQ, but for a chain, I like it They have a good lunch special where you can get a chopped bbq sandwich and a drink and a side for under ten bucks ! They have killer garlic fries - just make sure you have a few dozen people to share them with! I like that they have daily specials, like all you can eat ribs Monday, there is a tri tip day, etc - promotions like that make me want to try out the specialties - even if I have yet to try out all you can eat ribs on a Monday - that's the day the diet re-starts! read more

This place gets some bad reviews, and about a year ago, I would have agreed. Today, when I went, things seemed to be much different from a year ago when I first came. The prices are kinda expensive, and there are no combo plates really offered, which is a bummer. You just have to a la carte add-on, which can get pricey. We got a brisket Texas bbq plate (half lean - half juicy) and added 1/4 chicken and cowboy sausage. Notes: - Cole slaw has no vinegar and is one note. Needs a lot more seasoning. - Chicken was moist (it's probably the easiest thing for BBQ places to mess up in overcooking chicken) - Cowboy sausage had good fat ratio and ate well, and was juicy. - Brisket was very supple and had great juice to it. I would venture to say that their brisket is a tad fatty, but then again, I love fatty meats so it's fine with me. I've been to Sauced multiple times, and the brisket we had at Sauced was super dry (literally a shade below jerky dry), and had no flavor. I really like how the manager walks around asking customers how the food taste and makes sure you are having a good experience. I was mentioning how they change the menu a lot. I was told if there was something on the menu previously that I had my heart set of ordering I can just ask and they can do it for me. Its been a while since I last visited this place. I used to live right above Aramdillos u til I moved to Walnut Creek. Its a chill place. I was in Dublin and I just finished my workout at Clubsport in Pleasanton. This place is not too bad. I ordered the hamburger with fries. Its okay-not too good but not too bad either. Nothing special about it, i think this restaurent settles for "good enough" which is not very brilliant cos they should always aim for better and higher just like Robert Herjavec once said. What can I say? I am a MAJOR fan!! I just discovered this place two weeks ago and have been addicted ever since. I have ordered the chopped chicken bbq sandwich and the beef brisket. While my favorite is the chopped chicken sandwich (I scarfed that baby down) the beef brisket has a great smokey taste and I would recommend it to anyone. The music is fun and had me dancing and singing in my seat (who could resist belting out Pat Benatar?). One Friday after a tough day at the office, I called in an order and low and behold when I arrived at the Mecca of BBQ, my food was there waiting for me, order was perfect and my stomach was happy :-) I have not tried the root beer float yet, but I hear they make them with Thomas Kemper Root Beer? Ok, so maybe I'm a little biased because the last time I had ribs was in Texas. I was pretty disappointed. First of all, they were out of ribs (spareribs) at 7:05pm on a Sunday. So I had to get the baby back ribs. Wasn't fall off the bone tender and the flavor was good but nothing to brag about. Not much of a smokey flavor. The chicken strips tasted like the microwavable ones from costco. The beans weren't flavorful and the corn salad was just ok. The grilled sliced bread was pretty good though and my friend loved his cornbread. I paid ~$18 for not a lot of food and was nowhere near full. In Austin, I got bigger portions of delicious ribs, brisket, and sausage for under $13. Mediocre BBQ is one of the downsides of living in California (even so, it's still by far the best state). read more

A good amount of pork on the romaine lettuce and the bacon was a nice addition. The shredded cheese wasn't spread out very well (big ol' clumps) but no biggie. Fried onions on top was great as well. Service was mixed. The guy that served me (young black dude) was like a mute. The guy I picked up my order from was cool as was the manager who checked up on us. Very fancy BBQ restaurant... Nice dinning facility in and outdoor... Very extended menu... They got everything u can find in a BBQ Pit... I love the fact that the menu has draft and bottle beers... My brother inlaw and I popped in for lunch one day. Neither of us had heard of it before then. I had the brisket and it was off the hook good. Very moist and flavorful. The smoked sausage was very tasty and moist as well. The reason I only gave it 3 stars is because of the service. Specifically the front desk line. I was surprised to find out that on Friday before 6:00 p.m. it is 2-for-1 platters! NOt only was it a good deal, but it was all very good. BEWARE!!! We have purchased tri-tip by the pound 3 different times. The first time, it did not feel, nor look like the 2lbs that we ordered. We brushed it off. Ordered a second time. This time we ordered in restaurant and waited. We watched the guys throw meat into the to go container and close it up. Nothing was weighed. When we got home, we weighed the meat on the food scale. It was 1.75 lbs. I did not call, we had 4 kids at the house and 5 adults. We ordered tri-tip again tonight. Got it home. It looked small. Weighed the meat. This time it was 1.5lbs. Again not the full 2lbs ordered. When I called, I asked for the manager and Javier told me he is for the night. When I told him what happened, he told me, "I verified the weight, but I am not going to argue with you." He said we could return and pick up the missing meat. He asked me, "How much is missing?" I told him 0.50 lbs. He laughed and said, "half a pound?!" Laughed again and said,"Oookay." If they are shorting everyone 0.25-0.50 pounds of meat every order. I just left the Dublin location and am, truly disappointed. Cashier was rude, got our order wrong then debated me about it. I ordered juicy brisket and baby back ribs. Brisket was mostly the "bark" what little meat that was there was dry and chewed like jerky. My ribs that were supposedly baby back, were dry, crunchy and brittle! My husband wanted spare ribs and we were advised "we are out of spare ribs" so he ordered the sausage sandwich...he was presented with a sausage plate.. . Not a terrible issue however when you want something, get denied then your next item is wrong....its very disappointing....BTW, my ribs looked like spare ribs. This is Texas BBQ and it is amazing. The sausage is sneaky amazing and the awesomeness of it creeps up on you. The Brisket is juicy and full of flavor and the ribs were cooked perfectly where there's just a little resistance before the meat comes off the bone. The only improve I could come up with is that I like my cornbread a little sweeter. But the sweet butter and honey makes it ridiculous to say. Go here for good food and lots of seating. read more

I see too many low marks for this place. They deserve better, so I'm going 5 stars to help their average. If I was being honest, though, I'd give them 4.5 stars. Not perfect but man it's good stuff, as close as you can get without nailing it dead on. These people are friendly, the service is excellent, and the cheese burgers we had were pretty good. You can't go wrong with their burgers, though rarely I have had better. Believe it or not, the bun was the best I ever had. It was fresh, soft, and just the right density, without the dryness that can make it a chore to eat. The french fries are top notch, I'd put them with Five Guys and McDonalds, which are my two favorite places for fries. Now I have three places. The soda fountain is bottomless, and there is plenty of seating inside and out. I had to wait a bit for a to-go box, but they were filling up. I'd been referred here by a guy I use to work with and I have to say, I was impressed. One of the things I consider a staple of any good BBQ place - the sauce is on tap. Not on the table, not in little cups - on tap. While you do have the option of putting it in little cups, you also have the option of pumping it directly onto the food, which is a lot more convenient for people who love sauce. On to the food: Pork Ribs - 7.5/10 Good but I've had better. Beef Ribs - 8.5/10 It's hard to do beef ribs right. When you do them right you can strip the bones clean, and these were definitely done right. The meat easily released from the bones, but didn't disintegrate as I've seen so many other places. Tri-Tip - 8.5/10 For context, I would rate Kinder's Ball Tip a 10/10 in the same category. Does this tri-tip reach the same levels, no, but Kinder's has had the better part of a century to achieve perfection and Armadillo Willy's is pretty new. Criticisms aside, it's very rare to see these levels of quality from a chain BBQ restaurant. The pork ribs may not be the best I've ever had, but they're certainly above average and they put Chili's to shame. The pricing is also better than I've seen at most mom and pop BBQ places - so the shop fits in a good medium where they may not be the best, but they're priced very competitively for their marketplace. read more

My chicken was warm but very tasty, Nick at the counter was very friendly. They give u alot of tots and corn muffin was soft and delicious. Portion size was small for price, much smaller than the new Americano sandwich shop in Livermore. Bus services was busy with clearing tables when a customer placed his service tray on the outgoing counter and a mgr jumped on him vs handling it himself.
