I can't say enough great things about Hazy BBQ! They are consistently friendly, welcoming, and incredibly accommodating! especially for large groups. We've hosted multiple end-of-season sports parties here, and every experience has been seamless. The food is fantastic with a great variety of BBQ options, and I really appreciate that they offer solid veggie choices too, it makes it easy for everyone to enjoy. And I have to mention their New Zealand sauvignon blanc... it's honestly one of my favorites! What really sets this place apart is the atmosphere. It's such a warm, family-friendly spot where we've created so many fun memories with friends and teammates. We've completely moved away from the typical pizza party places (especially after some not-so-great experiences elsewhere) and now always come here instead. I really wanted to love this place, but it ended up being hit or miss. The burnt ends were too hard and dry to enjoy, and the coleslaw tasted mostly like mayo or sour cream with pickle juice. That said, the tri-tip was mostly tender (3 out of 4 pieces were great), and the BBQ sauce was surprisingly good--I don't usually go for sauce, but this one stood out. First time at Hazy BBQ. Met a group of friends and this is a perfect way with a large group for everyone to pay (and tip) their own way. The BBQ is delicious and the meat (TriTip and St Louis ribs) is so amazingly tender. I'll have to play around with the sauces a bit. The brussel sprouts were good (happy to take some leftovers home)! Lots of hardscape inside so the noise level steadily rises through the evening if you're inside. Love that there's a parking lot in downtown Danville. It was full, but I found curbside very close by. I chose the brisket, rib and quarter dark chicken with potato salad and garlic bread. Also included was pickled onions, pickles and three sauces. *BEWARE OF FRAUD FROM HERE* I placed an order tonight at Hazy BBQ and was immediately targeted by a scammer messaging me through the official UberEats app. The fraudster impersonated the restaurant, asking for my email address and a verification code to "confirm my order." Because it was within the official app thread, I fell for it. When I called to alert the manager, her response was shockingly dismissive. She admitted, "We are aware that we have been compromised through the UberEats app," and then simply asked if there was anything else she could do for me tonight. No apology, no warning to other customers, and zero concern that my data (and potentially my credit cards) were compromised because of their security lapse. Whether this is an "inside job" or gross negligence, their lack of accountability is unacceptable. I had to cancel all my cards and was too disgusted to even eat the food. I had this for lunch today and I was blown away. The three of us each got the brisket sandwich lunch combo, each with different sides (fries, beet & feta salad, and Mac & cheese). It's was SO good! -the fries were still crispy and tasty even after getting our food to-go and not eating until 20 min later. If I had gotten the fries (they weren't part of my own meal), I would've asked for an extra bbq sauce container for dipping, fyi. -beet & feta salad was delicious, fresh, and nicely dressed -Mac & cheese was delicious, and well worth the side dish upgrade charge -and then the star: the brisket sandwich. So so good! The meat is so tender and smokey. I was psyched to leave half of it for dinner, and still so psyched after eating the leftovers (moments ago) that I had to leave a review asap lol. We called head and got our food to-go, so I can't speak to the service or ambiance. But there was a nice, large patio for dining, and lots of space at 2pm on a Saturday. Our family's go-to place for bbq sandwiches has been a certain local chain that starts with a K, and today we were fully converted over to Hazy. We got the wings and the Tucson salad with pulled pork today, in my opinion the wings hit every time. The salad is good too, better when you add your BBQ sauce of choice to it. The garlic bread is crispy and great when dipped in the remainder of salad dressing. Carrot cake 10/10 always and great the next day if you keep it in your fridge. "BBB" Bland, Bland, Bland.. Where is the SEASONING? Where is the smoke ring on the brisket? You can see in my attached pictures what was ordered. We ordered for 7 people and had plenty of food. (49ers watch party). Hazy's website says [Texas Style Barbecue]!!! If I'm not mistaken, and what I know to be TEXAS STYLE BARBECUE is barbecuing/smoking meats over wood. Even over coals or briquettes. I think EVERYTHING was cooked in an oven. My guest and I tasted zero smoke. Now the seasoning. No salt, no pepper, no onion powder, no garlic powder, no paprika. The meat was moist and good, but no/minimal seasoning on the brisket and ribs. The sides were very basic as well. I need to call and ask how the meats are cooked. Tried the 3-meat combo today. Unfortunately, the sausage and burnt ends were extremely dry and not good at all. The ribs were decent, but the mac and cheese was dry, bland, and disappointing. I will say the manager handled it professionally and was kind enough to refund me without giving me a hard time, which I appreciated. The beef bone was satisfying. Loaded fries was layered with pull pork, jalapeños and melted cheese which was good. I had the meat plate with burnt ends with the cheesy mashed potatoes. Great selection for beers and wine plus NA beers and sodas. They have a great selection of barbecue plates, sandwiches, salads, bowls, sides and desserts. The staff are very friendly and helpful. We were lucky enough to meet one of their managers, Derrick. He was fantastic. Super friendly and knowledgeable. He checked in on us and even helped bring food to our table. Bonus: he didn't steer me wrong on the burnt ends. They truly were delicious. We ordered the fiesta bowl with burnt ends, 2 meat plate, and a pulled pork sandwich. It was all delicious. It's mystifying how popular this place is. I've had the misfortune to eat here 4 or 5 times for events, and have yet to find a single good item on the menu. This is a solid 3 1/2 to 4 stars, so I will round up to 4. This was a fairly small parking lot for a large-ish restaurant. Plenty of outdoor seating indoor seating when we arrived towards the end of happy hour. Walk up to the counter and order your food and drinks. To take advantage of the happy hour deals, you can just order it there, even though there is a separate bar counter. This makes it very convenient, ordering as quick and easy and you get a little buzzer for when your food is ready. Food comes out on tin trays. I guess this is how most barbecue places are serving food nowadays. My tin tray was rounded towards the bottom so it kept spinning in circles. We got our respective barbecue dishes, each person's a little bit different. I ordered the ribs and burnt ends. The portions were small. Not gonna sugarcoat it. I literally got three small ribs and three cubes of meat. The sides were larger than the main food. I was disappointed seeing it. Size of the dish aside, the food tasted pretty good. You can get your own sauce and apply as necessary on your food. The food already came out with sauce on it, however, it was a little light on the ribs so I had to get some more. My burnt ends weren't burnt, but instead they were cubes of meat slathered in barbecue sauce. I was done with my food pretty quickly as again, the portions were small compared to what I normally eat in this price range. When I come back? Possibly. We came here for lunch with four other families. The restaurant is spacious. Plenty of seating indoor and outdoor. Kids were able to seat at one table while adults were at another table. My family ordered one two meats dish and one three meats dish. Everything was good. My son order another set of french fries. Brian who may be the store manager came by and say hi to us and asked us if we had enough foods, that was a nice gesture. We said yes. We would come back. Great place to eat with other families. I've been wanting to have a full Hazy BBQ experience. I have tried their Prime Rib and Ham for their Holiday takeout specials. Both were excellent. Dined in on a Friday night recently. You order everything at the counter and they page you when your food is ready. You get all your own sauces, plates etc. We sat outside with a group of four with live music going. It was really busy, but we got a table pretty easily. Drinks; I got one of their featured frozen drinks which is a frozen Jack N Coke. It's pretty amazing. It comes out of a machine and isn't watery at all. It's basically a Coke Slurpee/Icee with whiskey. Again Excellent. My wife got their Frozen Aperol Spritz which she really liked. For my other drink I got a double Hazy IPA from Fieldwork brewing. They have a really great selection of beers. All different beer types are available. Food: We started with an order of Wings and Chips/Salsa. The Wings were smoked and excellent. Chips/ Salsa were nothing memorable. For our main course our group of four got a BYO Meat platter with Ribs, Tri Tip, Brisket, Pulled Pork, and Chicken. The sides we got with it were Cheesy Mashed Potatoes, Brussel Sprouts, Mac n Cheese, Street Corn, and Beans. All the meats were really solid. My favorites were the Brisket, Ribs, and Tri Tip. For the sides again all solid but my favorites were the corn, mashed potatoes, and beans. Three different Bbq sauces are available to get on the side. My favorite was the Spicy Bbq. The food came out reasonably quick. If you want to enjoy a drink first I might wait to order food. Portion size is really good. They don't skimp on their food. Price Point seems about right too. Overall really good spot. Cool Ambiance eating outdoors with live music. Drinks were great and great beer selection. Food is very tasty. Service is spot on. The caesar salad was great, ribs were good, but the brisket is where things fell flat. It's likely because it was a party platter but the brisket was incredibly over cooked. I have had better barbecue elsewhere in the past and we tried plenty of different things from here like the ribs and sides. The food tasted like it was lacking something but couldn't figure out what it was. The service overall was fine but the main issue here was how busy the place was and how crowded it could be. Came here on a Saturday night and it was packed! I loved how they provided options for Passover. The minus one star was only because when I was ordering I wanted the tempura green beans and two water cups but kept getting charged for two drinks. Eventually he removed it but I realized afterwards he removed the green beans too. Otherwise Ryan came around and was checking in on us to see if everything was great. For the food it was really good. I ordered the beef and chicken meal for 2 and added 2 sides and garlic bread. I had plenty leftover. They give you a whole half chicken which was generous and it fell right off the bone. The brisket and burnt ends were definitely the stars. The tri tip was also tender and yummy. Our family love the vibe and atmosphere here but the bbq isn't necessarily the best. I love barbecued ribs. I have eaten them and barbecued them for over 60 years. The meat on barbecued ribs should stick to the bone and not fall off of it. Hazy barbecue overcooked my barbecued ribs. The meat fell off the bone. Their sauces were good. The service at hazy barbecue was excellent. I received my ribs shortly after ordering them. Maybe that was part of the problem because the ribs might've been sitting around and warmed and that's why they were overcooked. I don't know. I'm gonna say i really want to love this place. i kinda do. I'm a Primos guy, there everyday after school with my kids to eat and watch whatever sorts game is on. Primo's food is always done right, but they don't have burgers. Been hanging there for years, but one night when an NBA Golden State Warriors game was on, think they were playing OKC. Big game, and the other group in the other room watching some blowout baseball game like 8-1 had control of the TV's becuase it was playoffs was the straw that broke the camels back. Dozens of people with warriors jerseys had to watch the game on the little tv's above. 4 big tv's and not one of the local warriors game. Me and my boys paid the bill, got up and went to HAZY next door. I've been to hazy plenty of times but this time for personal reasons. Hardly anyone inside and the Manager put on the game with sound for, not only me but another warriors fan. awesome! Since that day I've been coming to hazy with my boys after school for their hazy double cheeseburger and fries and local beers. I like Hazy because its new and clean. Here's the rub; the food is 100% inconsistent. i swear on my moms grave every time i order cheeseburgers they come out exactly how the cook feels like cooking them i.e.; with ketchup and mustard, without. sometimes with onions.. My kids are specific. One has double Hazy ketchup and mustard only and the the other no mustard. 100% their both wrong every time. they add or take off topping as needed. The cooks doing what they want as per staff. Here's the reason i wrote this. My son loves pickles on his burger and he had one with a plastic scan tag on it. Literally did not remove the tag, cut out and pickled it. (of which i just found out they pickle and sell their own onions, jalapenos and pickles) i digress. The kitchen is a mess and needs to be fixed. At some point another place will pop up and have good atmosphere and food and well be gone. I made a joke to my middle son after discussing and laughing about how every day the order is messed up and in this instance a barcode on the pickle. I said tomorrow were coming in at 2:30pm as usual and I'm gonna ask for 2 double hazy burger whatever the hell the cooks want to make and a beer and my son couldn't stop laughing. even he knows how ridiculous the cooks are. either they can read or just don't care. not sure which Said my peace. Food was amazing; staff was great. Forgot to take a photo of my Sampler platter because I finished it so quickly. Ended up sitting next to Ryan, the manager, at the bar and he was incredibly nice and insightful about the business. We talked about the prep and the smoking process and the entire business. He was super cool and down to earth. The kind of manager who gives you the time of day and then some. Made my experience extremely memorable. But the food took a very long time - the brussels sprouts were probably the highlight, with the honey's fried chicken being very mid, but the tri tip was downright awful. When I first got the plate I wasn't sure what I was looking at. It was very fatty and where it wasn't fatty it was hard. Hazy Bbq was a huge let down this year for Thanksgiving. Like previous years, we ordered ahead our Thanksgiving meat from them. The item listed on their online menu was "Jumbo turkey leg". I called to ask how big that would be and was told each was about 4lb. So we ordered accordingly. At pickup on Thansgiving day we found it was just drumstick (not leg) that was barely 1lb, for which we had paid $15 each! My husband called them to ask why we were given a drumstick when we had ordered a leg. He was told their vendor only sent them drumsticks this year. They were apologetic, but didn't offer anything to fix this mix up. The worst part was the thigh was overcooked and stringy, and barely edible, so we couldn't even eat it. After spending days cooking and anticipating this family meal, we were left with a bad taste in the mouth (literally and figuratively) on this special day of the year. read more
