Solid. Super old school burger stand that looks like its been here a while, like before 680 was built, like when Pleasanton was more of a farm community versus an upper middle class to affluent town. Not sure how long this burger joint has been here, but I've always known of it by passing by many, many times over the course of 30+ years. But only tried just recently. There's seating both inside and outside. Inside the walls are totally covered with pictures of classic cars/trucks and interestingly enough of horse racing culture, since the county fairgrounds are super nearby. Pics of horses from past generations and their jockeys and owners. I thought that was an interesting local imprint. Mushroom Swiss Burger ($11/4*) So 'giant burger' is in their name. Even though the patty itself isn't monstrous, maybe a 1/3 lb at most, it is quite sizeable, much bigger than most fast food versions. After scarfing down my burger, I'd say I was slightly fuller than eating a double at In & Out. But this was also almost double on what I'd pay at In & Out. But since I'm a quintessential old schooler myself, I'll pay this price of admission here, no prob. The Burger Patty: Nice and juicy. Good quality and just flat top griddled. I had to season my patty with a little salt n pep from those packets. There's a special sauce that flavors the sandwich, a mayo/ketchup blend is my guess. The Produce: They use shredded lettuce and everything was quite fresh. Just very messy as lots of things will spill out on each bite. The cooked mushrooms were a little light but still noticeable in most bites. The Cheese: The 'swiss' labeled is basically a white colored American cheese, super soft and gooey. Not my fave, but a burger may be the only time I welcome American cheese. The Bun: They use basic sesame American buns. Super factory quality, but again for the basic American burger experience, I think this is fine. Just wished they toasted it more, as it became a mushy mess after even just halfway through. I'd say the bun was my least favorite aspect of this burger experience. Onion Rings ($7ish/5*): My friend said he saw them use a frozen product to drop in the fryer. But damn this was one of the best onion rings I've ever had from a burger joint. Super crisp, just oily enough and no artificial factory flavor. I could taste the onion and the crisp batter, and that batter stayed crisp for the whole meal, even after it cooled a bit. These are a must here. Fries: I tried a small handful from my friends bag as we were sharing our sides. They are of medium thickness and they crisp them nice. They also salt them with a good shake, and the oil they use seemed very clean. Even at Mc Donalds I'll often get grossed out by fries cooked in old oil. Blech! Not here, quite proper. I'm throwing them a fiver, just to show that a fiver doesn't have to be mind-blowing or life changing. Just has to fulfill expectations with a smile, and make me leave satisfied and happy. Bob's Giant Burgers came highly recommended by a few locals when I asked about good burger spots in the area. It definitely has that old-school charm and gave me some nostalgic vibes, kind of like the burger place I grew up going to in Maine. The staff were super friendly, the vibe was relaxed, and there's both indoor and outdoor seating. Parking was easy and they have Pepsi fountain drinks. The food was decent and everything came out hot. It felt like a better version of Burger King--simple, classic burgers made with frozen ingredients you'd probably find at places like Restaurant Depot or Costco Business Center. The Burgers are always good here. My son and I have the Double Jalapeño Cheeseburger and Double Bacon Cheeseburger. The regular fries are good, but the garlic and Philly cheesesteak fries are even better. Susee and Isabel are really nice, and the restaurant is retro with a lot of really good pictures. It's Friday night, my husband and I walked in at 6:20pm, we are the only people in the restaurant. Three people working and none of them acknowledged us even though we are standing roughly 5-10 feet away from them at the register. One woman walked by us twice passing the register and doesn't say anything, doesn't even bother looking at us. After 2 minutes the other woman finally makes eye contact and smiles but that's it. My husband and I decided to leave at that point. I don't mind waiting, but a "hey, sorry! We'll be with you in just a moment" goes a long way. I stumbled upon this little spot while I was in town for some ice cream. It's a classic, old school burger joint with plenty of seating both inside and outside. I ordered the Western bacon burger, Swiss burger, and chili cheese fries. The portions were generous, definitely big servings. Overall, the food was pretty good. My favorite was the Western burger, the crispy bacon and onion ring really hit the spot. The chili cheese fries, though, could've used more cheese and seasoning for extra flavor. It's been almost a decade since I was here last and my kid who is 22 now recently discovered this place on his own and wanted us to go during my most recent visit to California. We ordered a single Western Bacon Cheeseburger, a double Bacon Blue Cheeseburger and an order of sweet potato fries. They were pretty busy on a Saturday afternoon at 3pm and we did have to wait awhile, she apologized twice to us but it really wasn't that big of a deal as we were not in a rush. The burgers were very good, cooked to perfection and tasty. The sweet potato fries were a disappointment, very limp and soggy. The restaurant needs some updating or maybe a deep clean. I'm not sure why the menu was written with a sharpie on a piece of white cardboard being this place has been around forever but ok. We didn't get drinks and the above totaled $35.79. My bf heard good things about this spot, so we decided to stop by and try them out. It worked out great because they have a laundromat 2 stores down for a load of laundry while having dinner. The burgers, fries, and milkshakes are really good. But I would not recommend doing take out from this place. Last time we did take out, they gave us a big plastic box of fries, and because of how hot the fries were, the plastic was literally melting onto the fries. Nothing was wrong with the burgers, everything was really good, but when my brother reached to get napkins in the bag, there was something inside the napkins, and it was a ginormous cockroach. It scared the shit out of my brother and it managed to get out of the bag. We tried to kill it but it hid somewhere. We still ended up eating the burgers because they were in boxes, so they weren't touched by the cockroach. But... the cockroach still hasn't been found... But I do want to reiterate though, the food here is really really good. You'll get a good experience if you eat the food at the restaurant. This is our second time ordering from them. We were so happy with the service and food first time around. This time was a huge disappointment. My boyfriend picked up our phone order and was ignored while he waited in the restaurant. After he got home I opened my philly cheesesteak and there was no cheese. The meat itself lacked any type of seasoning or flavor. The garlic fries were barely cooked enough. They were pale. My boyfriend's double mushroom bacon burger had no seasoning and he had to throw it away. The chili cheese fries were okay. Also barely any flavor. Our shakes were good though. Went to Bob's Giant burger to celebrate the my Basketball team making it to the final 4 in March Madness. I got a Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger, Onion Rings, and a Soda. Burger was good as always. It's a Mom and Pop type of place, so just good basic food. They have a TON of shake options, but didn't order because I didn't want to spike my blood sugar. I sat by the counter while eating my burger and EVERYONE was ordering a shake. When I got there the lady was taking a long time to wait on the people that were at the counter. Not sure if she just doesn't care, or if she needs to concentrate on making the shakes otherwise she'll mess up on those orders. If the service was faster I would have probably given this trip 4 stars Anyway, it's a good Mom n Pop burger place if you are tired of the Fast Food burger places. read more

Customer service is a 0/10 very rude when ordering my food, the lady up front is very rude and forgets things like bacon on a burger. The fries are obviously frozen and not cut the burger was mediocre along with the milkshakes that I will never get again because of the thick and unsavory consistency along with it not even being filled to the top. The cooks in the back don't even seem like they know what's going on and they made me and my mother uncomfortable by staring at us for an extended period of time. Bobs has been in Ptown for a very long time. It's right outside of the main st shops and had to give it a try. I went for lunch and got a double swiss burger. I found it odd that instead of stacking the burger on top with cheese they used a French roll and just gave me a long burger. There was nothing special about this place at all the fries weren't salted enough for me but I have a pretty high threshold for salt, and the burger was just so bland and unseasoned was really disappointing i think it's just a frozen patty. Also didint like that the menu prices are wrong I got charged a $1.20 more for the Swiss burger than what it was listed for and was told that the prices were wrong in the paper... it's the only menu in the shop and it's wrong? Read other reviews but wanted to give this place a chance since their Fremont location had some of the best burgers in the east bay. Sadly the other reviews were correct. The double cheeseburger was dry and mid at best, nothing special. The fries were mid but the onion rings were good just like the Fremont location. My advice to the establishment is to maybe go back to using aluminum foil like y'all did in Fremont to wrap the burger. That holds everything in. read more

Great spot to get a fat burger and fries. They had specials every day painted on the windows, however they took them down recently. My husband and I like stopping here on Wednesday for a fat western burger add a patty and pickles. If you know anyone from east bay/Fremont are they will know the history of the original location. I have never been here before and was looking forward to it. I brought my wife she got a cheeseburger. They actually had a deal for fries, soda and burger. We spent $30 the first problem with this place is the soda machine wasn't working right so they replace the syrup they didn't check it, the CO2 needed replacing they replaced. She didn't check it. Our sodas were flat. so disappointing then we get home and we only have one fries when we paid for two. My wife's burger seems small for a place called giant burger. My burger was huge, but the bun was falling apart when I was eating it, which tells me they didn't toast the bread enough the flavor was great. We were on the way to Meadowlark Dairy and spotted this diner on the the way there. After getting ice cream, we decided to look up reviews on Yelp about Bob's Giant Burgers and noticed a lot of good reviews overall. So we decided to check it out. Based on what people were saying in the reviews, we decided to get the western bacon cheeseburger and the Philly cheese steak fries. It was a bit pricey just for those 2 items ($28 and some change), but the portion size of the fries was huge. The western bacon burger was approximately the same size as a burger from In-n-Out. As for the taste of the burger, it was a bit bland but just add some bbq sauce and it gets better. As for the Philly fries, now that was very good. It almost reminded me of carne asada fries without the sour cream, guac, and pico de gallo LOL. But it was really good and it's enough to feed like 3 people. They were very generous with the Philly fries plate. Overall, the food was a bit greasy, but didn't taste that bad. If I ever decide to go back here, I would skip the western bacon burger and just buy the Philly fries next time. read more

Once upon a time Fremont had two Bob's Giant Burgers and I loved that place, it was hands down the best local burger spot. I have passed by this location sooo many times and I've been curious if it's the same as the ones that I grew up on and decided to give it a try. I'm definitely a sucker for a local burger spot because let's be real, thru usually make some amazing burgers compared to all of these burger chain restaurants. Coming here I got some sense of nostalgia because it looked exactly like the old Fremont location. I kept my order simple and ordered a regular cheeseburger with ketchup and onions (like at our old location). I'm very basic when it comes my burgers lol. Their burgers are pretty big and cooked perfectly, it was amazing. They taste exactly how I expected them to taste and now I'm convinced this is the same Bob's that we once had. This was a FANTASTIC burger. Meaty, really generous in size, made to order. I went with the Giant Burger, which has cheese, lettuce, Thousand Island, pickles, and onions (your choice of grilled or raw, I went with grilled). I also got an order of fries and a banana shake. Their indoor seating isn't currently available, but they have a handful of outdoor tables that they've separated to accommodate for social distancing. They were pretty busy on a warm, sunny Sunday afternoon (especially because they're balancing quite a lot of delivery orders with their in-person diners), but the food came pretty fast despite the rush of people. The banana shake was heavenly. Pretty thick, with a couple of banana slices on top of the shake. The fries were cooked to perfection -- golden and crisp on the outside, soft on the inside -- with the right amount of salt. The burger was mouthwateringly delicious, and the grilled onions added a nice flavor. Packets of ketchup and mustard are available, which is great because I always need a little of each on my burgers. This is definitely a many-napkins-required type of meal, which are some of the best kind. Staff here are super friendly, which is always a plus. I can't wait to come back here for another burger, but especially for another shake.
