BBQ is 4-star One of the best darn Burgers I've ever tasted Chicken Caesar Salad is wimpy I spent 4-years in Texas and from that experience, I think this is very good BBQ. I've had the pulled pork and the brisket. I like the option to have lean or juicy brisket, along with a spicy or mild BBQ sauce. However, the Burger is absolutely fantastic. As in extremely absolutely fantastic. Folks, this is something to write home about; not to mention yelp about. The one huge disappointment is their Chicken Caesar Salad. It comes with 3-oz of chicken. That's about 2 to 3 bite-sized pieces. If you spend an extra $4, it comes with another 3-oz. For that price, I've had far better many times over in other restaurants. Got the Texas BBQ ribs small plate for $10.95. Got 3 ribs! I was so disappointed that I asked for the manager. She said thats what the was small plate was. 3 RIBS? For $10.95? Really? The only thing that was more disappointing were the ribs! Very little meat and dry! Safeway has a whole rack for $9.95 that are "most excellent"!!! I can testify to the fact that California has good BBQ. I came here for dinner tonight with a co-worker who recommended this place and I see why it's his favorite. When we walked in, a worker at the cashier immediately greeted us. I told her I needed a minute to look over the menu and she told me to take as much time as I needed. My co-worker told me their Texas ribs were better than the Baby Back ribs, so that's what I went with. I ordered the small plate of Texas Ribs and it comes with a choice of side and I decided to go with the garlic Parmesan fries. When you order your food, they give you a buzzer, so you come back to the counter to pick up your food when it's ready. My meal came with 3 Texas ribs and a pile of fresh cut fries topped with garlic and Parmesan. The food was awesome! The ribs were tender and the sauce was good. The fries were amazing. There is nothing like fresh cut fries and topping them with garlic just put it over the top. This place will definitely become a staple when I'm back in Livermore. read more

I've been here with family a few times and it's generally pretty good. Unfortunately I don't have much to say about this place because I'm not as picky or experienced with western food as much as I am with Asian food or Latin American food, but I like the various options of meat items and sides from their menus and combined with their bbq sauces it always tastes good. I only go here with my family because I don't think with the prices I would choose to eat here on my own, but of course I'm not sure if their prices are usual or not for the quality of meat they provide. Overall though the baby back ribs and the brisket sandwich I've ordered here before are good and I would suggest them. Also I like their service model which involves ordering and sitting down instead of having a waiter ask me what I want and then bothering me to see if it's OK after I've ordered it. It's awkward being asked how your meals going when you've got barbecue sauce all over your hands and probably a piece of meat in your teeth as you're trying to figure out how to eat a rib without getting it everywhere. read more

I have been here so many times with my family over the years that we must have had just about everything on the menu. Their staff are always friendly and while sometimes seem to be having a bad day, they have never let that prevent them from giving an excellent and polite service to me. Their fries are great, especially if you add cheese or bacon bits to them. Some people suggest the Cajun fries but depending on what day you go depends on if they over season them or not. The BBQ meat is excellent but I am partial to the Jalapeno-Cheese Sausage, both the sandwich and the standalone version. If you have a large group attending, you can't go wrong with the Belly Buster Family Pack which includes bits of most of their BBQ meats plus sides. More than enough to share between a decent sized group. If you are a smaller family then the Combo Family Pack will do you well and lasts for a few days of meals for a small family. read more

The combo plate is pretty big (2 choice of meats) and 2 sides. The bbq pork spareribs were tender, yet firm. They didn't fall right off the bone, but you didn't have to gnaw at it. It had ok flavor. The bbq chicken was a little dry for dark meat. They serve the sauce on the side and in bottles. The Texas fries are like fried twice I think...they really didn't taste that great for being fresh cut. I tried Willy's once before and thought I'd give it a 2nd chance. I've now had my fill of Armadillo Willy's. Roderick's is a better choice for BBQ locally. read more

I was told this place was not worth it. But I figured how bad could it be? Overall environment- 5/5 wasn't busy, the place was clean, nicely lit up, friendly cashier. Food- The steak tasted like cheap pastrami out of a local grocery store deli that was at the temperature of a poorly heated meal. Salad was nothing great. I did like the bowl though. Food quality is terrible. I definitely would have rather spent my money at McDonald's or Taco Bell. This place is not even worth looking at. Take this review seriously, especially the folks at Armadillo Willy's, because I never give one star reviews unless the restaurant deserves it. Change is not always good. In the old days, Armadillo Willy's would have gotten four stars from me, but no longer. Let me explain. The original BBQ sauce that has made Armadillo Willy's desirable to me for years has been replaced with watered down catchup. My friend ordered $14.00 worth of ribs and got four small ribs on his plate. The Thai peanut salad came with TURKEY, which of course is the national bird of Thailand. That, and it wasn't nearly as delicious as the Thai peanut coleslaw that the restaurant served before the menu change. The atmosphere has changed as well, and is now catering to yuppies. It is no longer a slop the sauce on type of place, as the environment has become "trendy". And of course, because of this, the food has become bland and lost its uniqueness and flare. Armadillo Willy's used to be a go to restaurant when we visited our friend in Dublin. No longer. When we went to the restaurant, a man was at the counter complaining about the portions of his ribs, as he paid $14.00 for an ungenerous helping of meat. The staff was friendly to him but I did not see if they rectified the situation. I spoke with him later and he said that he is not going back. As we passed by his table, most of the food was still on the plate, unfinished. Armadillo Willy's quality has gone down significantly. It is a completely different restaurant that does not cater to the old customers. Don't believe me? You've been warned. I know that Armadillo Willy's has the power to fix this atrocity. Please bring back the old, quality menu that we have come to expect from your establishment. read more

i've eaten burgers here before and i know that the cooks have charbroiled it and we loved it, tonight i went in and they were frying our burger on the flat top. Yuck. It tasted like something I made in my frying pan at home. We ordered pork ribs, one supposedly cooked for hours, it tasted like it was precooked and finished on the grill, my meat had no smoked taste, sure it had a crust that can be easily achieved by throwing it on the flame after it was precooked. Company Holiday party was catered through Armadillo and it was a hit among the party attendees. They certainly brought a huge spread which included the ribs, brisket (very tender), chicken, salad, corn bread (my favorite) and potato salad. They provide all the utensils, barbeque sauce, plates, extra napkins and wetwipes. I probably will want to check out the restaurant to see how the food tastes right off the grill if I am ever in the neighborhood again. Overall, a good catering experience. read more

Dublin has grown in size since I lived here. I was with the family doing some shopping at the Hacienda crossings. we got hungry and went on a hunt for some yummy eats. We stumbled on to Armadillo Willy's BBQ. I'd like to consider myself a BBQ snob (the BBQ we have in San Diego is not that good). There is allot to take in when you walk in the restaurant, the scents of the smoker working, the menu, the food and TV's. I had the Pulled Pork with BBQ Beans and Garlic Fries.
