Made a trip here to get my 1996 F250 inspected because of the high ratings and the inspector said…read morethat there are two license plate lamps required by state law. First of all, 1996 F250's only have a cutout in the bumper for one lamp so weren't even built to support two. Secondly, Texas Department of Public Safety Section 20.18 SubSec. 2c specifically states "Only one lamp is required" to pass inspection. This was verified on the "What's Inspected" list for trucks from DPS as well. Though this shop gets high rating my first visit was not positive and probably won't go back. That's unfortunate because I had a few small items that needed fixed and thought I'd have them done here to support a local business.

The alternator was just replaced by another shop last year, so I'm thinking voltage regulator? Rodrigo calls me late Friday to tell me he thinks it's the alternator shorting but wants to a full charge on the battery over night to make sure. Saturday he calls me to say it is the alternator but the root cause is the water pump, which is leaking and spraying the alternator. Monday night we picked it up - perfect, full explanation/demonstration of what he found, and reasonably priced work. We're not going anywhere else from here on out.

My daughter's car was having problems. We took it to a garage we do trust and they diagnosed a…read morevalve cover leak, so the valve cover gasket, ignition wire set, and an ignition coil needed replaced, plus a tuneup. I asked what the tuneup was, they said replacing the spark plugs and that would cost $136. I'm thinking that much for four spark plugs and total cost of $740? So I decided to call Ty at MobileMechanicSA. He said the gasket is fairly common but the wire set and coil may not need replaced, he'd test it while repairing the gasket. He came to the house, worked on the car in the driveway, was very pleasant and explained everything he was doing while working on it. He tested the coils and agreed it needed replaced. In the end, my daughter's car is back to firing correctly and driving smooth and it cost $220 vs $740. I have 3 vehicles, I'll be calling Ty for everything now. ----update---- So this year I discovered that my daughter's car, a 99 Corolla with the 1ZZFE engine consumes oil abnormally. It ran out of oil and seized. I needed a new engine for it, I called Ty. He said he could do the engine swap which surprised me I figured I'd have to go to a garage to get that done. He helped me find and purchase an engine that comes from Japan with ~50k miles on it and swapped them out. We actually had some issues with the engine due to the company's misleading ad we bought the engine from based out of New York. But Ty was very professional and did an excellent job explaining the situation and helping us fight the company in New York for a refund. In the end, Ty did an excellent job swapping the engines and helping us fight the crooks in NY and all for half the cost it would have cost going to a garage. He is the real deal and can be trusted and that is priceless in my opinion.

I'm not a mechanic, so I believed them. Had it towed to CAR after it was recommended by a friend who manages a fleet. They looked at it and said it's losing oil because of a valve and the dipstick tube was off the engine block......wow the others could've have seen that? Needless to say I found the new place for my car.

I had them rebuilt my LT1 v8 engine in my Camaro a couple years ago, I only drove it maybe 1000…read moremiles since then, I drove it like a baby b/c I wanted to give it to my son. Things I've found, suspension bolts missing/stripped or hand tight. broken sensors, old plugs were used in the rebuild, they looked worn like 200k miles were on these things, gap was 65-70 when it needed to be 50. wires were old, I had red MSD wires, the ones after the rebuild were black generic, cracked and broken and were arcing. And to top it all off, car now has a major blown head gasket after 1000 miles? I am scared to even think what the crank and the rest of the bottom end looks like. He really screwed me. You'd have to be out of your mind to take any car there. He talked a good game though, but doesn't know what he's doing.

I drove from Dallas to San Antonio without any problems yet the next morning in a restaurant parking lot, the Mercedes would crank but not start, After 30 minutes of retrying, I decided to call someone that knows Mercedes. I yelped Mercedes expecting to find a dealer and discovered Autohaus! I read their positive reviews about this Bosch authorized independent shop specializing in Mercedes and called them for help. Vivian answered my phone call and immediately took charge. She let me know they were booked solid for a week but understood my predicament, asked for my number while promising to return the call after seeing what, if anything could be done. Mack the shop owner called me shortly thereafter and asked the pertinent questions in order to attempt to isolate the problem. It became obvious that diagnostics in person was needed and I was given a phone number to a tow company that he recommended and had an account. with. Once the vehicle arrived at Autohaus they jumped on the troubleshooting process in order to get me back on the road and working in the area as soon as possible. While sitting in the lobby area, I first hand witnessed that Mack, Vivian and the entire staff are friendly and conscientious when they were dealing with all of their customers, phone calls and vendors delivery people. When my starting issue was established, they communicated the diagnosis and the solution of replacing the fuel pump which was an integrated assembly in the fuel tank. If I could give 10 stars for this experience at Autohaus, I would. Be assured this business is what people look for as it is operated with integrity by owners and employees that do the right thing every day..
