I have been coming to this restaurant for around 5 years. I loved everything I have ever eaten here! Except this past time I went I had their fish tacos (which are usually great),however this time I could tell they tasted a little off but didn't think much of it. Until I got home and went to sleep and woke up with horrible food poisoning. I hope they pay closer attention to the quality of their fish. 1st visit in a Saturday for lunch. Empanadas (not greasy at all), maduros, salsa, black beans all delicious. Great kid selections so 3 hungry boys were happy and well fed. I had the pollo a la Parilla (server recommended over the lobster tacos) and it was awesome. Husband had the medianoche and that was great too. Servings are big... Had enough to have another meal later. Excited for that leftover meal because the food was so yummy. This is one of my favorite restaurants because the service and food are wonderful. The frozen margaritas are also excellent. They slow cook their meats which are extremely flavorful. The lemonade is good and the cheese dip is good but the Arroz con Pollo and chicken enchiladas leave much to de desired. Went on a Friday night around 7 pm for dinner. It was completely packed. But the atmosphere and our table for 2 in the back made us feel like we had just stepped into a cozy restaurant in some Latin American country. Everything on the menu looked really good. We ordered ceviche for an appetizer, and then I ordered the Paella and my date had the lobster tacos. The food was ridiculously good. Absolutely hot, freshly made, and delicious. Situated in a sparse strip shop near the intersection of Abbotts Bridge Road (Highway 120) and Peachtree Industrial Blvd. is Armando's Caribe. The decor is a bit Caribbean meets Mexican restaurant. The lights are multicolored and the ceiling is the basic structure of the building and is all black. They do have around 6-8 booths against one wall with the rest being tables (I believe there are 2-3 large tables for larger groups). There is also patio seating. The menu is Caribbean meets Mexican. You are started off with chips and salsa. The salsa just tastes fresh, fresher than many of the other local Mexican restaurants. They have the standard cheese dip that you can get as well, however be warned that the jalapeno cheese dip can be a bit full of jalapenos since they add it in to the regular. They have tacos, burritos, and quesadillas which are filled with many different things such as steak, chicken, shrimp, chorizo, and fish. A personal favorite is the Tuna Tacos. They also have an assortment of Cuban sandwiches, all of which are delicious. They have paella, as well as steak and fish. Their carnitas are delicious too. All of their "platters" come with a side of rice and black beans (more like half a plate of rice and beans). For a dollar upcharge you can get a side of crispy fried plantains (tostones) or sweet plantains (maduros). We've have been going here since it opened and have yet to have a bad meal. They do pour their margaritas fairly strong so watch out. The only downside is that it can be a bit busy and loud. They have lunch specials (different each day, look at the flip card on the table) and during lunch they can be busy as is the case with all of the Duluth restaurants. The typical dinner rush is expected. If the place is full and/or the big tables have large groups (parents with children running around) it can be a bit loud. But that is honestly the only downside we have ever experienced. read more

We have been going to Armando's for a number of years, with decent food. About six weeks ago we tried to get in and left for lack of service. Tonight we tried again. Big mistake. Service was non-existent. Is there a manager on site? Ordered a drink and waiter disappeared, not to be seen again. Finally ordered food from another waiter after 45 minute wait. Wrong order delivered. Ordered a second glass of wine. Never arrived. I plan never to return. read more

Lunch hour service was ridiculous. Only one waitier for an entire restaurant (assume it was the manager). Waited almost 45 minutes for chicken fajitas....when food arrived chicken was barely warm and very tough. then had to wait an additional 20 mintues for bill so we could leave. my husband and i wanted to go out for Cinco de Mayo so i looked on yelp and this place had pretty good reviews. we also wanted to stay fairly close to home since it was a weeknight. the first thing that was sort of turnoff but not a surprise is that it is located in a strip mall. now, that isn't unusual for the area we live in and normally it wouldn't be that big of a deal but the strip mall wasn't really booming with business. half of the spaces were empty and the ones that were occupied are totally random businesses. i guess you can't fault the restaurant for that but it's not in a very appealing location. we decided to sit outside since there was one table left out there. our waitress came right over with chips and salsa and took our drink order for margaritas. she brought them out pretty quickly along with the small queso dip i ordered. chips were sort of hard and the salsa didn't really have any zing to it so i didn't really eat much. the queso was just standard queso. i ordered 2 tacos, one carnitas and one steak, it came with black beans and yellow rice. the beans and rice were a pleasant surprise because i expected the standard refried with Spanish rice which can sometimes leave you feeling heavy. the tacos were really good. i preferred the steak over the carnitas because it had a creamy jalapeno sauce on it. so this place really wasn't true Mexican food but i don't think it claims to be, sort of Tex-Mex with a Caribbean flare i guess? the service lacked towards the end of our meal, we had to flag down someone for our check because our waitress never came back to our table. it seemed they were understaffed or something because i could see her inside busy with other tables. i don't think i would visit here again because the location and the atmosphere isn't very festive. it's a shame because the food wasn't really all that bad. we will continue our search for good Mexican food in Georgia. wish us luck!! read more

My husband and I went back in August of last year, service was so slow but we thought it was a one off situation. We went back tonight, my husband and I took his Mom and Aunt, it was an early dinner around 4pm. We walked in and there were no customers, Monday night that early we didn't think too much into it. When we were seated by a gentleman he gave us our menus, grabbed some chips and salsa and walked to a table grabbing a bite to eat for himself, again didn't think much into it thinking he was just seating the guests. couple min go by he comes back and takes our drink order, 3 water and a diet soda, comes back with 4 waters and leaves to get back to 'his' table to eat. my husband had to flag him down to order the diet soda, again, and an appetizer. before getting the items he went to his table to get another 'bite'. Another lady walked in, he sat her then brought us the diet soda. went to the bar to grab the ladies drink and SAT at her table as our appetizer was ready in the window. the cook tried to grab his attention, but it was on the young lady he was sitting with. the cook then reheated our appetizer rang the bell, and still he sat there. We left, we'd had enough. stale chips, watered down salsa, we were done! will NEVER go back! DON'T GO!! read more

I typically do not write bad reviews (hey, everyone has a bad day, right?) but this one I could not pass up. I actually tried this restaurant out BECAUSE of the good reviews I read here, so I had to add my perspective before anyone else could make the same mistake. I have to say this was the absolute worst meal I've had in recent memory. On the recommendation of other yelpers, my husband and I ordered the lobster tacos. TAKE NOTE: THESE ARE NOT MADE WITH LOBSTER MEAT. Instead, inside we found artificial crab meat. Not only did they not taste good (I personally do not like artificial crab meat and would never knowingly purchase anything made from it), I find it incredibly unacceptable and inappropriate for a restaurant to market a dish as one thing when they are in fact serving a cheap substitute. I knew immediately at the first bite that I was tasting artificial crab (come on, you can't really expect people to mistake that fishy taste and stringy texture for lobster), but one glance inside the taco only further confirmed it. It appeared they had even tried to cut off the bright red exterior of the artificial crab to better disguise it, but -- oops -- they missed a few spots. We also ordered the paella valencia, which was equivalent in quality to a reheated frozen dinner. The rice was gluey, the calamari was undercooked and the sausage was poor in quality. The only good thing we tasted while we were there was the salsa, and I'm pretty sure it came from a jar. If I could have given this restaurant zero stars, I would have. read more
