The customer service is top tier from well communication to walking you through everything that's offered as well as treating my dog with so much love, kindness and patience. I shouldn't have given one star. My boyfriend and I were getting our car washed across the street so we had about 40 minutes of time to kill. We decided to check out Tacos Ensenada, and on our walk over, came across this pet shop. I walked in and was immediately appalled. This man had 6 puppies corralled in this tiny makeshift pen on the side of the wall. It's hard to explain, but imagine a wall of cages of birds and at the bottom was a tiny overhang that the puppies could fit under...I provided a picture. So the owner came out and I immediately asked him how quickly the puppies sell and he said they go quickly. "I've been doing this for 10 years," he said. If he's been handling and selling puppies, for so long, why doesn't he have the proper space for them? Some of the puppies had feces on their fur and they were climbing on top of one another due to the lack of space. So I had to write this review. I don't understand what happened at Armando's?!?! We, my mom and I have been bringing our babies here off and on for years, as we have moved away from the area. From my recollection they use to be great. The cuts on my Shih-Poo was always so adorable. So since I was in the area this past weekend I decided to drop our babies off here to get groomed. A complete shave on my mom's jack russell mix and a cut on my shih-poo The people here are very nice. But this time around when I picked up my doggies. I was not all that impressed, my mom's dog who got the overall shave was so uneven, and you see the grooves of the clip all over his body...I understand if he wasn't cooperating but then he got nicks on the side of his mouth too :( My Shih-poo also got a very uneven buzz all around...I still needed to trim her to even her out when we got home....prices went up, but Olga the wife honored the price we were paying for the past 7 years, so that was nice of her. I was very disappointed as a long time returning customer I, now have no desire to go back. The people are friendly and nice, but the quality *sigh*....I just can't go back now read more

I previously had my 10 year old toy poodle "Rocky" go to heaven. I was so devastated. Wasnt sure i could get another dog. But it doesnt cost anything to look . Armando's was down the street from my brother so I called. The lady that anwsered the phone was very understanding. She took my name and told me she would call when they had some poodle puppy's. On a feeling I call the store a few weeks later and Armando told me they just got a litter of puppies. When I got there he showed me the puppies and I choose "Henry". Armando was the kindest shop owner. I will only take Henry to him. He is so gentle with the dogs. Now I tell everybody to go see him for there puppy. My wife and I stopped by this shop to look at some puppies. Immediately up entering we were not impressed. The conditions of this business is horrible, as well the animals did not look healthy and in horrible conditions. The shop employee/owner was extremely short and annoying. I can't imagine anyone considering purchasing an animal from this place period, let alone letting them groom your family member (pet). When we got back to our car I searched them in Yelp and saw very similar reviews to mine. The stories of people who purchased dogs from this place only to learn their new family member had Parvo and passes soon after is enough for me to steer clear. Found this place through Yelp. I called about wing clipping and the man said to go in at any time. When I arrived i was attended to quickly. The person working was welcoming, friendly and gentle with my bird. I paid $8 to have my love birds wings clipped. Will definitely return for his next clipping. read more

I DO NOT want to give this place even one star! DO NOT purchase a puppy from this shop. We purchased a Shih Tzu puppy on 7/10/15 (Friday) in the afternoon. By Thursday, 7/16/15, the 3rd trip to our vets, confirmed the puppy has Parvo. She is VERY, VERY sick and vet showed absolute proof that the puppy was sick and had the Parvo virus when we bought her. We are so distraught that this poor little girl is now fighting for her life, aside from the huge amount of money we are paying to have her cared for. This shop totally LIED about the puppy having shots. She was 8 weeks old when we picked her up and had not had any shots, they lied. We are hoping our new baby will make it, she did not deserve this inhumane treatment by people who are SO GREEDY, they put money over doing the right thing for their animals. DO NOT purchase puppies from this owner. We alerted the shop owner from our vets office to notify the people who purchased the other puppies from this litter or from his shop, but suspect he will do nothing based on his response to our call. VERY disgusted with this lack of care or concern for their animals. Paid $500 for a very, very sick baby girl. Say prayers for these animals... UPDATE...the puppy passed away this afternoon. In less than 1 week of having her. Do not purchase a puppy from this shop. Shop is infected. Parvo virus can continue to thrive up to 10 years without dying off. Shop need to be disinfected completely with bleach mixture and I am sure this will never be done. Just look at the conditions of the shop. read more

Buy a pet here if you want to spend an additional $500+ at the vet trying to bring your new pet's health back up to par. A few things to know before buying a pet here: First, all prices are negotiable, and Armando seems to make up the prices on the spot, so the first price he'll tell you is probably double the actual price until you haggle with him into giving you a "good deal" (aka average price at any pet store). Second, considering the questionable conditions the animals are kept in here, I would ask for a written guarantee or proof of the animal's health- like most reputable pet stores provide. Third, as mentioned above, be prepared to pay a hefty bill to the vet for labs and medicines, because from our experience (and apparently other Yelper's experiences), you will most likely purchase a sick pet from here. My mom decided she wanted to get a Cockatiel here on impulse while I was picking up fish tacos in the strip mall next door. She is a widow, and had been looking for a small, manageable companion bird, and immediately fell in love with a Cockatiel here. Looking around at the conditions of the store, I was instinctively wary about purchasing a pet from here, but I couldn't say no to my mom, seeing her so excited. After helping her get the bird home and situated, I noticed that he had some irritated bald spots under his wings and was pecking at himself incessantly. After doing some research, I found out that this could be indicative of several potential health issues for birds. So I took him to a reputable avian vet to get him checked out. Sure enough, he was not only malnourished but also suffering from vitamin deficiency, respiratory inflammation, an infection, and elevated liver enzyme levels. $500 dollars later, I had to take on nursing the bird back to health by hand for my mother, which was not easy or fun... for me or the bird. The bird was also scared of being handled, and bites at your fingers, which according to another bird store owner I spoke with, is behavior most likely from not being hand-fed (Armando claimed he was hand fed) or hand-tamed as a baby, and in effect traumatizing the bird and making him scared of people. An untamed bird that bites and is unwilling to be handled also affects an owner's ability to bond with it, as a well-tamed and sweet cockatiel likes to be petted and cuddle to share affection. Yeah I know, it's just a bird, so why spend all the time and money on it? Well, my mom bonded with him, and I was not going to let her new companion get sick(er) and put her through another heartbreak. So yeah, if you have a big heart to save animals from unhealthy and negligent conditions, buy a pet here, but make sure to have another $500-$1,000 to burn on vet bills on top of whatever price you haggle with Armando. read more

Armando is the most friendly pet person I've met. I walked in for the first time today and got my cat flea dipped , along with a shave for my poodle. Now normally, MY DOG WON'T SIT STILL! So I haven't been able to get him properly groomed. .. that is, till I found Armando. I walked in after calling for an appointment, same day. Parking is a bit small, but I still got front row parking. I walked in and since it was my first time, Armando told me a little about his shop. He's been around for about 10 years! His specialties are grooming and bird sales. While I was there waiting, he let me play with his puppies and even took out a parrot and set it on a perch outside for me to check out. They are very friendly! My dogs love them too! They take walk-ins which is very convenient. They open early and close late. I recently lost two of my dogs. The first place I called was Armando's to see if they had seen them. They had not, but they said they would keep an eye out for them. About a week later I got a call from Armando (the owner) advising me that he saw a "Found Dog" poster for a Beagle and he gave me the number. Sure enough it was one of my dogs! I had to wait a few minutes, while Mr. Armando finished up with his other client, and when he got to us, he took really good care of my cat. She didn't fuss or cry or anything, which was a surprise. I have been going to Armando's for years and years and now it seems he is totally in it for the money, he over breeds his dog (every puppy that he puts in his shop is bread by his own dogs he has at home and he has a lot of breeds. As I'm concerned runs a puppy mill.He has increased his prices, and frankly. I think he makes them up if he thinks the person is willing to pay for it. The grooming was always so so, and somewhat decent, nothing to write home about, but considering the price it's ok. Now he charges too much for what you get. Do not buy any of the meds he sells. I bought something for fungus for my dogs ears and he sold a bottle of the stuff for 49 bucks and I found it on amazon for about 1/4 of the price! He ripped me off. read more

Shitzu-yorkie I named him Bruno had him for two weeks he needed a shot which Olga never told us about. On that 2nd Saturday my baby puppy wouldn't stop throwing up or pooping blood. I took him back there met Armando and he told me about the last shot and I asked if I should take him to a vet he said give him pedilight and yams baby food. I didn't take him to the vet like I should have. MY BABY PUPPY DIED AT 5AM THAT MORNING! Had three sezuirze right infrint of me helpless I CALLED THE VETS NONE OF THEM WERE OPEN. I KNOW FOR A FACT HE HAD PARVO WHEN I GOT HIM HE NEVER WENT OUT. I CALLED OLGA AND ARMANDO THEY SAID THERE'S NOTHING THEY COULD DO. MAYBE DISCOUNT A NEWDOG ARE YOU FUCKING SERIOUS! I got a guinea pig from this pet shop last year, and today I went in to check out the other guinea pigs to get mine a buddy. Well, first off the guinea pigs are kept in crap conditions. They are on the cold tile floor, with bad hay tossed on the floor and a dirty cardboard box for a hideout. The owner's wife admitted they do not handle the pets, which explained how poor condition they were in. The two guinea pigs I saw were extremely afraid, squealing and running away when me and the owner's wife attempted to catch one. The owner, Armando, then proceeded to yell at me to leave them alone unless I wanted to buy one. I told him I did, and the lady caught one with a fishing net! You could tell they don't handle them because the guinea pig screamed and tried to jump out of my arms. I put it back and said "No." to Olga, the wife. Armando got pissed and started saying to her she shouldn't help me or even answer my questions next time. He claimed I go there "all the time" just to mess with them. Of course, I've been coming to this pet shop since I was little and have bought hamsters, my guinea pig, and other supplies there. I do come to look sometimes and today I was looking for my second guinea pig. They expect you to either buy their shitty animals and tolerate their rude service or leave. Armando is pound for pound one of them most genuine men I know . He loves to build rapport with his customers making sure that each pet is the right fit for the respective owner . Took in my brand new Sherman Shepard puppy (Bravo) to get some food treats collars and accessories . When I walked in I noticed that he had new kittens in the shop , I asked him how old they were and he told me that they were a couple weeks old . He relayed to me if I was interested in getting a cat now would be a great time since Bravo was still a pup and they would get in the long run since they would be growing up together . I thought to myself that's not a bad idea never really thought that . Went ahead and made the decision in getting lucky (my brand new kitten) and haven't had a regret since .Bravo and Lucky are the true definition of two siblings . They don't do anything with out each other and they have grown up to be best friends . Dont do buisness here . if you do get a receipt or some kind of form of agreement. i bought a cockatoo and when i got the bird home it went nuts, chasing me , biting furniture and biting me as well. i didn't have this bird more than 2 hours before deciding that i had to return the bird due to its bad temper. when i got to armando he took the bird and put him in a cage . then i asked for my money back and he refused to give me back the cash. i then said to keep $100 and give the rest back and still he refused. i never got a receipt just a verbal agreement and in the end he stole my money and kept the bird. armando is a crook who acts nice and when the deal is done and your not satisfied he doesn't care. he isn't afraid of the police as there isn't any record of our transaction and he told me that no one ever does anythimg when this happens....warning if you do buisness with armando get a receipt.!!! read more
