Armando came the next day-with various choices and pricing. I could tell he was a master at what he does. He gave us a 2-week timetable for completion. I Paid the deposit and material was ordered. I had Armentas recover a recliner. I had to have them redo the back cushions due to sloppy work. It's been less than two years since the work was done and now the arm material is starting to crack and split. I contacted the shop and they said someone would call me back. A week later I called and was told that they had contacted the material company and that the cracking and splitting was just "normal wear and tear" Completely unacceptable for something that cost over $1700 to do and no warranty. After having this place do my Rv couch which turned out ok we asked them if they would do our captains chairs as well. BIG MISTAKE!!! They had them over 6 weeks and waited until the last min to do them when we absolutely needed them back, because we were leaving town. Horrible! Horrible!!! Workmanship was awful, the seats were not assembled back together properly, we had to pay someone else to fix their crappy work. Leather on one of the seats was not pulled tight and is bunching. He was in a rush, and it showed in the work. When he delivered them and I questioned him on a few things and why certain things were in the wrong place, he didn't answer me, he blamed the leather and completely lied to me. After my original upholstery guy flaked on me, I found Armenta's on yelp. They are right next to Vitos pizza in Mesa, so that was convenient. I grabbed a pie when I picked up my newly upholstered piano bench. They did an amazing job. It looks really really nice. And we couldn't be happier. We matched a green velvet chair that we had in our study perfectly. The etching around the corners looks really good, and they even left a little spot underneath the bench to allow me to screw in the bracket more easily when I got it home. If I have any complaint, I place my order during their busy season so it took a little longer than I might have wanted, and they didn't call me when it was finished. I had to call them. Armando and his son did an awesome job for us on our outdoor patio furniture. He had to make some cushions from scratch and he recovered another. They came out really beautiful. I bought the Sunbrella material myself as it was cheaper but he will work with you to figure out the cheapest way to get the material you want. He is awesome. Paid $1800 to have 6 seat covers re-done in leather. It took months and months to get our sofa's back, only for it to be returned with cheap vinyl that has since shredded. Armando said he would come by and look at it, but he never showed and never returned my text's for repair or refund. A search of this business with the Arizona Corporate Commissions shows this business is not licensed to do business in Arizona. DO NOT DO BUSINESSS with this shop. read more

April 2019 I found this company through Yelp's request a quote feature. They were quick to reply and came to my house at the appointed time. Their prices were competitive. I selected the fabric I wanted to reupholster my sofa. I was told it would take about a month. They picked up my sofa April 13th. I started calling the company for updates after 6 weeks. My sofa was finally completed and delivered August 3rd! At that time the owner of the company said they had leftover fabric and asked if I would like to have pillows made. I agreed to have the pillows made at a cost of $80, which I paid at the time. I called numerous times to follow up on the pillows and was told time after time that they were not ready, more fabric had to be ordered, they were still working on it. I finally lost patience and requested my money back. After two months I have not received a refund; even after numerous phone calls and promises that they would mail a check. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau hoping to have the matter resolved. Update-I emailed Armenta's after I filed a complaint with the BBB. I quickly received a reply that they would send the refund. The check arrived the next day. Several weeks later I received a package with two pillows and an apology note. read more

I took in my couch to get re-upholstered. I dropped it off on November 5th 2020. Armando told me it would take two months. I agreed to the two months. After three months I called to see what was the status of my couch since no one called me. Let's just say this went on for 9 months!!! I would call often to find out what was going on and would get excuse after excuse. At one point asked for my money back and they could keep the couch. Then he would promise to have it done the following week. That was over two month ago. At one point he called saying I would need new cushions and that was a week to get in. He said he wouldn't charge me for that. Fine. I finally got a call the couch was done. That was on 8-5-2021. He said he would work with me on the price. I show up to pick up the couch and he offered to reduce the price $100. Now I didn't argue because I have integrity. I agreed at a certain price. But after 9 months and going to his place several times wasting my time and fuel you think he would of reduced the price even more for jerking me around for that long! I wanted six chairs reupholstered. I brought them in. Good fabric choices, good quote. Ordered new cushioning under each to create even padding. Picked them up 4 weeks later. They are cushioned at vastly different heights/thickness. Some look as though they weren't given new padding at all. I ask them to even the work out. I come back to pick them up. They restapled through the same leather previously used, so there are visible holes and some rips everywhere. The staples are an uneven mess. It is hideous. Now 6 weeks they've had the chairs. I ask them to re-do since they look terrible. They have to order more fabric. Three more weeks. The workmanship was terrible but it's been two months and I can't deal with them anymore. Cost a lot to have to go back multiple times and argue about poor quality work. read more

Had 6 dining chairs restored and recovered with the material it took my wife a year to find... as she changes things in a couple of the rooms. We are pleased to have found Armenta's Upholstery. Armando came out to look at what we were doing, had a look at the chairs and 7 good size window treatments as well as working on a new design for 5 of the valances. His price was competitive especially considering his longevity, 27 years in business with stellar reviews. The chairs are now back and look amazing, patterns lined up identically from piece to piece, a real concern for quality, a true craftsman. He's now building and upholstering 5 window valances for the kitchen dining area and recovering the family room valances as well as some sofa pillows. Worst experience & terrible craftsmanship. We took 2 Copenhagen recliner chair arms to be upholstered on Sept 27. We agreed on a leather fabric & paid our $100 deposit. We were told it would be a couple weeks which was great. After numerous phone calls & promises, we picked up the finished chair arms on Dec 21st, after paying $100 cash because their card reader was down. They look awful, the leather is puckered, stitching is loose, it appears that no padding was added, there are raw staples on the underside, bolt holes are upholstered over. This Upholstry shop should be embarrassed to turn out this type of work, obviously no one spent any quality time on our project. read more
