The WORST....DON'T!!!! It's not a self storage, so you get charged a minimum of $200 if you want to access any of your stuff and Mike's workers go through your stuff if you need specific items, unbelievable... Here's the worst - The ONLY reason why I used Armor was because my trusted movers 'A Better Way To Move' (would highly recommend) who moved my stuff around for over 10 years without ever dislocating one item were not available when I moved my stuff into Armor BUT I used them to take my stuff out of Armor into a self storage. NOW, I finally got all my stuff out of storage and I realized that a lot of my stuff is missing!!! 'A Better Way To Move' is not at fault, no way, they just took whatever Mike gave them out of the pods!! Mike stores your stuff in pods with other people's stuff and they obviously lost a lot of my items when I moved from his storage into another self storage, unacceptable!! I'm missing framed art, clothes and other miscellaneous items that were in boxes. Where's my stuff??? Mike, you should pay me at least $500 if you don't want me to escalate this! Responding to Eric: Yes, of course you blame my missing items on my favorite movers who have moved my stuff around many times over for 10+ years and never displaced anything. They only took what you guys took out of the pods - yes, you store everything in pods, different people's items in different pods and combined, I saw it, don't deny it! You're saying that I should have noticed things missing when I moved out of your storage?? How do you notice things missing that incorporates a large 2BR apartment until you unpack a couple years later and go 'wtf', where's this and where's that?? You guys lost it in your pods!!! I had Mike visit my house to price my move. He wouldn't confirm the appointment until early on the same day, but it was for a Sunday, so I agreed. He arrived on time on Sunday morning. I found him a bit hard to communicate with and to understand, but he came recommended to me so I decided to try to give him my business. He said that I would hear from his son later that day with an estimated price. He also said it would be a move with 5 men and cost about $200 per hour. Mind you, he was hesitant to give me a price as he said his son handles these things and he was just filling in. I DID give him a date for my move when we were on the phone and when he arrived he had the complete wrong date noted down. When we first spoke he seemed a bit confused and disorganized so I offered to text him so he had my info handy. I didn't hear back so I followed up the next day. I wanted to confirm that I understood what he was offering, so I asked for a written estimate. He said he already gave me a price the day before. (I suppose his reluctant price for 5 men working, that was not in writing was what I was to rely on?) He seemed annoyed by this and continued to tell me how long they had been in business. (Despite the fact that he said I would have my price from his son the day before). He offered to send me a blank contract. He also now referred to only 4 movers, not 5. I reminded him that he said 5 movers the day before and around $200 per hour. 5 movers will be closer to $300 per hour. By asking questions I discovered that there are additional costs such as tape and shrink wrap. When I asked the size of the shrink wrap roll he responded in an exasperated tone " I don't know". I asked because I'm trying to figure out how much this move will cost. Then I asked if he could explain how his insurance worked. He rudely responded with "Are we really going to go there?" I was surprised by this response as it is a fair question to ask, since I have never worked with him before. He kept saying that he is "trying to he's trying to help me and to trust him" , I responded letting him know that without answers to my questions and nothing in writing that we can't possibly move forward. I asked if he the owner and perhaps it's best that I speak to his son? He said "of course I'm the owner, who else would come out on a Sunday morning?" Not sure what that had to do with anything? I decided NOT to use this company due to the difficulty in communicating with the owner, his rude responses to my reasonable questions, his changing of answers after the fact and the bad vibe I got from him in how he treated a potential customer. read more

ARMOR IS A COMPLETE RIP OFF, DON'T USE THEM AND THE OWNER MIKE IS A MISOGYNISTIC B-HOLE!! I had to vacate my apartment short notice - Armor was available to move me out and move my stuff into their storage facility when my favorite movers were not available. What I didn't realize was that they charge you a minimum of $200 to access any of your items since they're stored in pods in their warehouse and they move the pod outside for you to look through what you need. AND you're not allowed to go inside the pod, you have to tell them what you're looking for and they bring it out, WTF?? Also, these pods are shared with other people's belongings, so that's probably where the issue occurs that your items could get lost. I needed to get some of my winter clothes and other items out, so I agreed to pay the $200, which is completely ridiculous... There were several workers around who knew exactly which suitcases and bags contained my shoes and sweaters etc.!!! THEY WENT THROUGH MY BAGS AND BOXES WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE OR AUTHORIZATION, GROSS....!!! What if I had a bag of sex toys among them?; which I didn't, but they should not look through your stuff!!! I was so disgusted that I decided to move to a different storage facility, which I would highly recommend, EZ Storage, it's cheaper and you can access your stuff without getting charged for it. I also used 'A Better Way To Move', who have moved me and my family for over 13 years, they're fantastic, would highly recommend them but NOT Armor, stay FAR away unless you want Mike's workers running their dirty fingers through your bag of underwear while getting charged $$$$ for it!! UPDATE RE THE OWNER'S RESPONSE: Eric, you are straight up lying! Your dad explained to me over the phone that the pod containing my items had to be taken out of the warehouse and when I got to the outside yard there were 3 workers who had taken some of my suitcases, bags and boxes out of the pod, which was right there! They literally pointed me to the bags, etc that contained my shoes and winter clothes. How would they know what was inside unless they opened them and rummaged through my stuff, huh? I never gave permission for this deep invasion of privacy!! And charging a minimum of $200 just to access your stuff when the storage fee is already much higher than elsewhere?? That's why I moved to a different storage facility. Adios! read more

The personal touch has no value ... these guys are reasonably priced AND they are available! I have used these guys before and they were OK, continued to use them because they were a friend of a friend. First of All, I agree with the other reviewer that the owner is VERY arrogant. One of the movers asked me out? NOT APPROPRIATE. They did not take drawers out of anything therefore ALL my stuff was all over and stuck behind. worst of all during the move my refrigerator stopped working (was Damaged) My biggest RED FLAG was when the owner would not provide me with the denial from the insurance company, and said "it was done verbally over phone" HMMMM sounds fishy- I DO NOT believe he even submitted the claim, (probably didnt want his premiums to go up? I have used Armor Moving multiple times when I've moved within the past 10 years. The first time was when I moved from a second floor apartment in West L.A to a ground floor apartment in Culver City in 2004. The moving crew arrived early and were ready to work. They did a great job moving all of my big pieces of furniture out and down the stairs. They were very fast but careful. All of my belongings arrived at my new place in one piece. Nothing was broken or damaged. The job was done well and the price was good. The next time that I needed their services was in 2013. The move was VERY last minute. I needed over half of my 2 bedroom apartment moved into Armor's Storage Facility until I could find a new place to live. I called the same day that I needed them with my fingers crossed. Mike, the owner, was really nice and was able to send a Moving Truck + a Two Man Moving Crew in less than 2 hours. The crew was very patient as I was scrambling to get my things together and deciding what needed to stay or go. Once again the moving crew arrived on time, were pleasant, did a good job, and the price for picking up my stuff + moving & placing it in their storage was reasonable and fair. My most recent move was in January 2014. I found a new apartment and called Mike to schedule a date. Once again he was very nice and accommodating. As usual the moving crew arrived about 20 mins before their scheduled time. They had loaded up all of my belongings that were in their storage facility and had already started unloading before I opened my door. Everything arrived as promised. Nothing was missing or damaged. The crew worked just as quickly and efficiently as they had before. There were no unexpected costs or hidden charges. The price was very close to what I had been quoted. I found it to be very reasonable and fair. Overall I have had nothing but positive experiences with Armor Moving & Storage. They have always accommodated my needs, arrived early, had an experienced moving crew, were careful and respectful with all of my belongings, completed the moves quickly and efficiently, and were fair/reasonable with the price. I'm sorry that some people seem to have had a very different experience. I honestly can't say enough good things about them! I will definitely use them again & have recommended the company to MULTIPLE friends who have also been EXTREMELY happy with the service they received! read more

Mike was nice enough to call me back and to let me know that with the little amount of belongings that I have to move(under 2,000 pounds), that it would not be worth it to me to have them move my stuff. Eric, I just saw your response as I have been busy settling into my new life in Santa Fe. I was shocked to see some of your comments. For the record: 1) Armor moved me out of my condo on July 24th and you delivered my move in Santa Fe on October 2nd. That would be 2 months NOT 5 or 6 months as you claimed, check your records I only paid you 2 months of storage because that is how long my moving process took. 2) I never asked for a refund, I questioned the additional charges (fuel charge and permits for crossing state lines) 3) You said I was not ready when your guys arrived - not true! I was ready with the items I was responsible for packing. The only things which weren't packed were what I told you I wanted your guys to pack. 4) My comment that "the move went without a hitch" I was refering to my belongings making it to Santa Fe safely, transprted/delivered and on time. My biggest issue with the company was the lack of communication about the additional fees that I would incur for the permits and fuel charge. This was perhaps the most frustrating experience as a consumer I have ever had. My girlfriend Elliott has already posted a lengthy review outlining most of the details of our experience. In short, the actual weight of our move, which were not notified of until our things were picked up, turned out to be more than double what they estimated. The cost of nearly $6000 dollars was also more than double what we were told to expect. The NTSB advises consumers to be prepared for actual charges to exceed an estimate by 10%, but we were faced with final expenses more than 200% of what were led to expect. In trying to discuss the matter with Mike, he became defensive and swore up and down that this had never happened before and accused us of adding more things between their onsite walkthrough and the pickup. Obviously, it was a financial shock to us. If we had been given an estimate anywhere close to what the charges ended up being, we would have sold things off to bring things in line with what we had budgeted for our move. So in essence our financial damage was two-fold. First final charges were more than 2x what we had planned, plus we missed out on the additional revenue we would have gotten selling things off to bring the weight of our move down. When I tried to touch on this, Mike cut me off, as if he were already protecting himself from any potential legal action. He expressed no sympathy or regrets or accountability. Unfortunately, our attempts to redress our grievances were unsuccessful. The BBB works as an arbiter, but can't impose any action, and Armor Moving was untruthful, defiant and uncooperative. The NTSB was unable to help us because our estimate was non-binding. Our only other option was small claims court, but going back to Los Angeles from Virginia was not financially feasible. A final insult on top of all of this: we had paid a deposit of $343 directly to Armor Moving, who was acting as a broker for National Van Lines, to whom the final charges were paid since they actually transported our thing cross country. During the process Armor had sent a check that was equal to the amount of the deposit, which we were due because the amount had not been deducted from the charges we paid to National Van Lines, but after multiple email attempts they would not clarify what the check was for. We had been advised by a lawyer friend that we should hold off on cashing the check because that could be construed as acceptance of a settlement and that amount was nowhere close to a fair settlement in our eyes. When it became clear that our options were running out, we attempted to cash that check only to find that Armor had cancelled it, adding a bad check charge from the bank as a cherry on top of the crap Sundae we were served by Armor. read more

My mind was blown by how quickly they accomplished our move with just 2 of them and at such a reasonable price, including storage for a month. If I could give negative stars here, I would. And if it gives this post any gravitas, I have never before felt compelled to post on Yelp until this experience. That is how awful it was. We have suffered a significant financial hardship as a result of Armor Moving's egregious underestimation of moving charges. We received an initial estimate of 2500 lbs. on June 10, 2013. With total charges including shuttle of $2862.17. In an email correspondence they confirmed that whether actual weight were 1000 or 2500 lbs., we would be charged for the 2500 due to seasonal minimum weights that were set because of high summer demand. As we walked the site and I discussed certain items that we were not sure we would bring, such as the couch, we were told it didn't matter, because we would still be under the 2500 lbs. Because we did not want to pay for weight we did not actually have, we were advised that we should check back in late August or early September, as the rates and minimum weights drop in the fall. After the rates came in, we were sent a revised estimate on September 9, 2013 of 1500 lbs. with total charges, including shuttle of $1936.29. Between, the June 10 walkthrough and the September 26, move date, no additional items were added, and in fact, as discussed, we sold or disposed of all the items we had advised their 2nd in command, Eric we would be getting rid of. To this point we have spent a total of $5809.42. $343 was paid directly to Armor. $100 was for specifying a move date, the remaining $243 for shuttle charges based on your estimated weight, however, of the $5466.42 we paid to National Van Lines, $651 was for shuttle charges based on the actual weight, which means we paid twice for the shuttle. I can't express how frustrating and stressful this has been for us. The final move weight of just over 6000 lbs was 400% over Armor's revised September estimate with total charges nearly triple the $1936.29 of that estimate. If we had been given an estimate anywhere close to the actual weight, we would have made very different decisions about what we moved across the country. But instead we suffered double financial damage, first moving charges far in excess of what we were told or had budgeted for, plus the lost revenue we would have gotten selling of items to get us to a weight we could afford to move. Regardless of intent, to this point Armor has failed to responsibly accept accountability for their mistakes. While some difference between estimated and actual weight is to be expected, I can see no way that a consumer could ethically be expected to accept such a gross disparity. If the view is that it is reasonable to for an estimate and actual charges to be so far apart, then that negates the most basic principles of business ethics. We are filing official complaints to the California Department of Consumer Affairs, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and the Better Business Bureau of California regarding the matter. This experience ruined our journey across the country and made this move the most memorably unpleasant situation imaginable. read more

In all honesty if you care about the safety of your personal property while being moved, there's only one legit company hands down that I would ever refer and that's Armor Moving!! These guys showed up to my house at the exact time that we specified, had great attitudes, handled my stuff with the greatest of care & went above and beyond anything I could have asked for!! I have used Armor Moving twice and both times they were on time, moved everything without breakage or dings, priced fairly, and really professional! My moves were in 2003 and on 2/17/12. The February move only required a call to them with a description of what was being moved, I got on the calendar, and they showed up on time...I had 3 movers, a truck, from Pasadena to West Hollywood, and they worked solid from 8:30am - 2pm for $840. They wrapped all furniture, lamps, etc., provided clothing boxes for $10, and had everything done quickly and without stopping. We used Armor Moving to relocate from a 3 bedroom house to a 4th floor loft with a small spiral staircase. Moving crew was efficient, quick but careful, and very friendly & polite. We had them pack up kitchen day prior to move and they did a great job. Lifting 3 sets of drawers plus king bed and headboard up to the loft went much smoother than I'd expected. Our belongings were secured well during transport, and no breakage issues to report. Would definitely use again for our next move. read more
