Wow. I bought a fountain there in May and I needed it delivered to Norco. Found out it was going to cost me more to move it and have it set up than the fountain cost. So yesterday I went in and ask if I could get the money refunded or put on a gift card. They happily did that - no questions asked. Needless to say because of their great service and attitude I promptly turned around and spent the gift card on pots and dirt! I loved the help I got picking out just the right pots for my patio. Place has a good variety of plants but impossible to buy them. Stood at check out stand ... waited, waited , waited an employee talking with another in middle of store says I'll be right there. So I waited , waited , waited turned around both employees gone. Should I leave my cart, then a 3rd guy runs up frantic says hi then says I'll be right back and runs out the back of the store. I left. I'll go over to Rogers Garden by my house, little pricer but I won't be wasting my time. read more

Went to get supplies during Covid and was told i had to order online and come back. I placed my order and got a call a few days later to come pick everything up. I called ahead of time to let them know i was coming. After waiting in line for 20 mins i was told they didn't have my order. Such a joke horrible customer service and a terrible system in place. Bought a plant there. They made a big deal over the fact that the plant i wanted to buy could be returned at any time. Well, I brought it back because it wasn't doing well. It was in the same pot and had the same signage but they didn't allow me to return it. Granted this was a month or so later and i Didnt have the receipt. But i was talk good customer service keeps the customer coming back. Whats one potted plant compared to all the things i could buy there as it is next to my church. Now we dont shop there anymore. Employees need to think more long term. Think of how much money you actually lose in a situation like this. read more

My experience with their "Landscape Design Service" was completely disappointing and a waste of money and time. The 24 hour call back took a week. The first thing I wanted to know was whether the design would include an irrigation system, because the old system was removed when I had a contractor re-configure the hardscape. Armstrong assured me they "had people" who could plan and install irrigation. I had my first meeting with the designer and then never heard anything for six weeks. I called her and she met me at their local store. I brought my checkbook and she brought a bunch of exemplar plants and a big piece of paper, but she couldn't even give me a price! When she finally did call back (in two more days) with a price, it did not include irrigation! When I asked how she thought we were going to keep the plants alive, she told me I had to put down 50% of the plant price before they would have an outside vendor call me about installing irrigation! It's only a planting service; it's not a landscape design service. read more

Strolling among the plants here, especially on a warm and sunny day, is relaxing and enjoyable for me; it's a light (and free) version of going to an arboretum or gardens elsewhere! There is a decent selection of healthy-and-attractive-looking plants and related products. The staff is VERY nice, knowledgeable, and helpful. They have so many beautiful flower and plant arrangements here. I get inspired just going and walking around looking at all the flowers. Everything here is on the pricey side, but if you are careful you can walk out with some flowers that are on sale and beautiful. Their hanging pansy baskets are always beautiful. The last time I went they had a particularly beautiful pink and white pansy basket that I saw a dad and son buying for mom. They also have a nice selection of garden accessories such as patio equipment, water fountains, and lawn ornaments. The staff is helpful and friendly. Ted was outstanding in educating us on what to buy and how to arrange the various succulents and how to feed them. He also diagnosed what the issue is with a Maple tree. Not enough water and food. Such a nice nursery. Everything is well laid out and very clean. A very big selection and All of the plants are healthy and vibrant. They staff is so nice there - the woman working the door today was so friendly and very helpful - when I came in I asked where a few things were and pointed me in the right area, suggested I take a cart (which she wiped down and sanitized) she told me to enjoy my time there (which I did very much) - on the way out she offered plastic to protect my car and asked if I needed any help. I really like this garden center. Every time I come here the staff is so helpful and they have such a wide selection of plants and flowers. The last time I came in the cashier suggested I sign up for the discount card and the flowers I bought were on sale with the discount card. Last year I had bought this reindeer made from a tree and it had pine leaves as antlers so I stopped in today to see if I could buy some but they just gave me some that were leftover. read more

This place is AWESOME!! Don't waste your time anywhere else. It's was well worth going the 27 miles out of my way to visit this location. Even my local Armstrong's didn't spend the time helping me like this store in Costa Mesa did. The people that work here make all the difference. You can tell they really go out of their way and care about their customers, which is quite refreshing. Whatever you guys are doing, please keep it up. Everyone from the manager (that patiently answered my dumb questions), to the friendly staff that helped me find my trees and thoughtfully loaded them into my truck, were fantastic. I had a great experience at Armstrong yesterday (and at my previous visit)! I just moved into a new place with a big yard, but the yard is "new" and a lot of work, and I'm a n00bie green thumb. I noticed "rust spots" on my large succulents, that spread to my baby lime tree and was starting to spread to the other succulents. Whatever was going on with my plants, I wanted to "nip in the bud" so I did some Googling and armed with that info, headed to Armstrong. I brought a branch in with the disease, and the girl at the counter called for a "Plant Diagnosis" over the radio and a gentleman came over to take a look (I'm sorry, I'm horrible at names and he wasn't wearing a nametag). He took a look at my plant and went to ask the manager for a second opinion, and offered me several solutions. He showed me some products I could use, and answered all of my bajillion basic questions in layman's terms (which was very much appreciated). Later on while just browsing around, we ran into him again and my boyfriend had a question or two about some Bonzai's and the associate literally dropped everything to help him out. Armstrong's is a good place to go for your gardening needs. If I were you, I'd ask for Pedro. He's the most knowledgeable and friendliest employee there. He is there most days, but call ahead as many people are aware of his skills. Armstrong's has a well stocked selection of plants for all types of gardens. Their prices are pretty comparable to most gardening stores as well. However I'd say Home Depot is cheaper for the basics - soil, sod, fertilizers, etc. Armstrong's is better to come for specific gardening items. However, if you want the highest of quality, then go to Rogers Gardens. This location is the better of the nearby ones. Again, look for Pedro. He also will do your planting, trimming and design on request, if he's available. read more

I like and dont like and like armstrong garden centers. Its almost as if shopping here takes the organic out of plants. What do i mean? Its very commercial. Its a garden center chain. I like armstrong becuase they carry a wide variety of plants and flowers. They have fruit trees, and pottery, and pesticides. They sell veggies and succulents, and more. I just wish that they would cary more organic edibles, cheaper pottery, exotic plant species, and more organic/ plant based pesticides and fertilizers. a plant shopping experiance that will ground you. read more

You may not know that Armstrong has a potting service, but they do. And it is amazing. And an awesome bargain. So what they do is use any pot you buy from them or any pot you bring them (yes, you can buy the pot anywhere) and then pot any plant you buy from them into it. Simple. You pay for the dirt and the plant (and the pot if you buy from them) and that's it. The labor part is free. And the best part is that delivery is free if you spend over $200. So why do I bring this up? Because they will do it for weddings. We probably saved upwards of $5000 using this service. Now you do have to have a good idea of exactly what you want, but if you already have your vision they will match it perfectly. We didn't have any floral elements (succulents only) so that probably made it easier for them, but regardless they took our sample pictures and did an amazing job giving us exactly what we wanted. We purchased 25 pots for centerpieces from Lowes and 4 huge pots for pieces around the ceremony. The free delivery alone saved us hundreds. So very worth it. And to top it all off they were really helpful and nice. read more

They have the best selections here ! Staff are very helpful and friendly here. I love buying vegetables, sweet pea seeds, flowers, shrubs, ...... Right now I'm debating if I should buy the pink magnolia tree. The colors are beautiful! I could accent several shrubs, flowers around it to make it stand out even more ... Just a thought ... During Halloween they have the pumpkin deal where you pay $15 ? And carry as many pumpkins as you can. We walked away with 9 pumpkins that day. read more

Bloody Racism at its best. I have no issues at all with anyone but apparently everyone at this store does. I came in there last Tuesday hoping to find something I needed and I was met by multiple employees who seemed to not want to spend time to help me at all because of my ethnicity. Honestly, this store should be looked at for the level of racism I got there. Such a long fall from their core standards. I called their cooperate office to complain and apparently although open don't want to answer their phones. Last time I will ever shop at Armstrong ever again anywhere. The managers should be fires or repremended for allowing this to happen. Appauling. read more
