I wouldn't normally give a 5-star review to a restaurant that does not yet have its liquor license, but the food and service here will keep me coming back even if they never got the license - it's that good. Only open 2 weeks, this is already a well oiled machine, at least for lunch. My wife had the Avocado BLT. The avocado was perfectly ripe and tasted like a mid-season fruit, not something you would normally find at the end of November. The bacon was so crispy, it must have been cooked to order. Often, the bacon on a BLT is chewy, not crisp, leading to the bacon pulling the other "guts" out of the sandwich when trying to bite it. Not here - sheer textural perfection. My son-in-law got the burger and fries. The meat was cooked just as he ordered it and was so incredibly juicy that it had to be eaten over the plate to prevent splatter disaster. My daughter's carnitas tacos were truly excellent and were punctuated by a beautiful medium-spicy guajillo pepper sauce served on the side so you could determine the proper amount of heat for yourself. I ordered the Cubano sandwich as I continued my search for one I really liked. A Cubano SOUNDS like a sandwich I should love, but until today, I have not. This one, built around the pork carnitas, was magnificent. I've had about a dozen since a horrible experience in Miami in 2005. This is the best I've ever had and the only one I would come back for time and again. Since my daughter plays for the Kansas City Symphony and my son-in-law teaches at Smithville HS, we come several times a year. Had 6:30 reservations and glad we did! Busy spot and for good reason. I can say this place is at the top of my best in entire KC restaurants. A few things I didn't care for: the ciabatta bread , nope. Fake restaurant type oil/butter /some sort of rank spread placed on it before toasted, not worth the even mere $4. Our table had Queso Fondido, Chicken Chimichurri, Salmon, short ribs, shrimp Diablo pasta and all were beyond AMAZING, ordered the giant table shared aroma sundae and chose the strawberry tres leches , it was very lack luster and tasted processed , not House made and old. The ambiance here is very lacking , if anything could be done to change this, turn down the lights that rival the sun! Even with a few down sides, we can't wait to go back for more and more as dinner was truly AMAZING! Oh, we had a few cocktails too a peach and whiskey one, a violet one and their peach sangria! This place is Amazing! Atmosphere, laid back, staff courteous and friendly, food presentation impressive. I ordered the Chicken Chimichurri, it was tender and juicy and paired perfectly with the fresh roasted Brussel sprouts and baby potatoes. The crab topped steak with chipotle mashed potatoes was tender enough to cut with a fork! The only teenager at our table ordered the aroma angus burger which looked equally delicious and he agreed it tasted as good as it looked. The Kc strip looked very appetizing but one order was a little rare and still cool in the center but tender as well, the other perfectly grilled. The mashed potatoes were creamy and left me wanting another taste from someone else's plate lol! We had an order of strawberry or raspberry layer cream cake and shared a yummy tiramisu. We will be going back! I hate that I didn't get pictures of our food except for our appetizers, the charcuterie board and crisp tender onion rings. Perfect place for lunch or a relaxing dinner with friends, they have brunch entrees on weekends I understand which we will be hitting up. read more

No Service after waiting at our table for 41 minutes!!! Went here on a Saturday night for dinner. Hostess said there was a 45 minute wait so we ordered a drink at the bar. We got sat at a table within 15 minutes! We waited at our table for a server for 41 minutes! NO server ever came to our table. Mean while, the tables around us got sat and immediately got acknowledged by the server. The hostess even brought the other tables water. Didn't get us waters.. We got up to leave. I did go to the hostess and ask if there was a manager on duty, she acted like she didn't understand what I was saying, she asked what table I was at.... "Really? You sat me" I told her.. The 3 servers that were there started laughing when I said that we had been waiting for 41 minutes and no one acknowledged our table.. Extremely disappointed! Have been wanting to try this place for a while now. Had brunch- Crab and Brie Omeleta, Chicken and Waffles, Short Rib Hash, and Biscuits and Gravy. The food was fantastic. Perfectly cooked and well seasoned. Every bite was delicious. Bloody Mary was perfect- maybe could have used a few more yummies but perfectly seasoned and yummy. Service was spot on. We entered a nearly empty restaurant on Friday at 11:20 am, party of five. There was only two other tables with customers. The hostess/server didn't say hello, just "Do you have a reservation?" In a very rude manner. We said no we didn't know we needed one. We explained their website didn't say anything about that nor was there a place to make a reservation on the website. She didn't respond and seemed very put out we were there! Then a man came from the back with two business cards and tried to hand them to us, saying next time you need to make a reservation. One of our group nicely said, "We are sorry, but your website doesn't say anything about that nor is there a place to make reservations." He literally snapped at her and rudely said, "Well I'm telling you now!" We walked out. I was mortified. It was a birthday lunch and I had recommended the place! I ate there once on a Friday evening, party of four, no reservations and nobody said a word about a reservation. I will never go back and will tell everyone I know to not frequent a place that treats customers like this!! read more

Wow! I did not see this coming! Some friends, my wife and I tried Aroma on the recommendation of a foodie friend and we were blown away! The restaurant is small but airy and welcoming, a small bar off to the side as you enter and probably 20 tables (could be more after COVID restrictions are lifted). All of the tables but one or two were full when we arrived and it remained that way until we left. Alexis, our server, was perfectly attentive and had some very good suggestions about the menu, which we appreciated. On his suggestion we tried the Queso Fundido appetizer which was a very nice blend of Muenster and Chihuahua cheeses with what tasted like chorizo served with tortilla chips. Yummy! Next came the dinner salad which involved beautiful mixed greens, tomatoes, cheese and croutons. For this I chose their chipotle dressing which had a nice kick and tasted amazing with the cool , crisp salad. For dinner we had the Chicken Poblano (perfect-sized portion of rice, chicken, loose street corn, a small amount of Muenster cheese and a poblano salsa), New Orleans Salmon (cooked-to-order salmon, grilled shrimp and sauce over real mashed potatoes with beautifully grilled asparagus), Filet Oscar (the two filet medallions are like two good-sized steaks with a generous amount of crab meat and the wonderful asparagus) and the Crab & Lobster Ravioli (I didn't have any of this but was told it was very good). The only cocktail we had was the Scrappy's Firewater Sour which has whiskey, habanero bitters and lemon and gave a nice kick. The food presentation was excellent and the taste just as good, if not better and the prices were very reasonable for the quality provided. We will definitely be back! read more

My wife and I plus our son and his wife dined at this excellent new restaurant for our anniversary last evening. What a great experience! The food was exquisite. Among us we ordered the KC Strip steak with mashed potatoes, the Steak Diavolo with chipotle mashed potatoes, the filet mignon medallions, and the chicken poblano salad. All were perfectly cooked and seasoned with delightful flavors. Chef Mario is the owner. With over twenty years as a chef, he really knows how to present a scrumptious meal. It is a family affair. Mario's nephew, Alexis, and daughter, Ashley, were the very attentive wait staff for the evening. The service could not have been more thorough or pleasant.
