Tonight was our first visit to this new location in Argosy casino. The space is beautiful! You can pay with casino comps too. Our server Chanah was super quick and friendly. A manager came by to see how we were as well and was super friendly. There were lots of great choices on the dinner menu and the dessert menu. The chicken and waffle dish was amazing. The chicken was lightly fried and delicious. The waffle was the best waffle I've ever had hands down. My husband enjoyed his burger and had his choice of fries, chips or salad as a side. The G&D side salad a super tasty. We will definitely be back to try more items!

As always love the atmosphere. Service was attentive but not intrusive. Brussels sprouts were good as long as you squeeze all of the oil/grease off of them. The brunch tostadas are nothing to rave about. The flavors are amazing, but the pork is tough, not tender. The Bloody Mary is good and the house margarita with Black Sea salt is amazing.

We have followed chef Justus around town and the food here is exactly the kind of culinary dream I'd hoped for in Parkville! Each meal has been nothing short of amazing. And i cant forget to mention the divine oyster bar with something new to try every time!

I mentioned the sort of oysters just as a reference (and yes I was asked this) We each had one of the following: Aphrodite, Birthday Girl, Blackstone. Delicious. Like a mouthful of the sea in one bite. We also had the Molten Scallop and Shrimp Dip. Warm. Deep flavor. A stick of butter? Maybe. Who cares? Yum. Butter soaked crostini. Oh yeah, cocktails. That came first. I had a Saffron Honey Manhattan. Super balanced. She had a Rose Spritzer. gin, lemon, St. Germain, and... stuff. She had the Norwegian Ocean Trout. Expertly prepared. Perfect skin. Perfectly medium and soft. So good. More nuanced than salmon? I had the Chicken Fried Halibut Clavicle. I would normally order lighter and more toward raw or lightly cooked dishes. Having someone prepare an underused part of a fish... in the Midwest? I had to do it. Photos won't do that plate justice (because it was deep fried), but let me put it this way: if you're a "white meat" chicken person, you're probably happy with a halibut filet. But if you're a chicken thigh person... this is your order. Clavicle bones are angular and sorta fluted so a lot of the meat is contacting bone. Insanely moist and flavorful, but just as snow-white. Atop a bed of country mashed potatoes and sage gravy, and collard greens. Loved it. More food than the photo shows. Wow. I didn't expect that. Must have been a large fish to begin with. The counter downstairs looks cool, but the view from above provides a grounded sense of space for downtown. This place looks good on Parkville... but Parkville looks good on this place. We have lived here 13 years and have longed for a proper place to occupy the best physical space in the street. Nailed it. A great date night made better by our experience here.

The space is large with bar seating, multiple "picnic" style tables for 4 to 6 people and a comfy pit by the fireplace and soon a patio deck. The owners Shriti and Paul were most welcoming, while spending a lot of time with our small group guiding us through the menu, offering suggestions and giving us a lesson on the their business, their challenges and goals. Their customer service skills and passion for their craft was impressive and addictive. I enjoyed a white wine Sangria, Pineaapple Mimosa and a pour of their Golden Rum. When we arrived, it was a little quiet, so we sat at the bar. The two bartenders working were welcoming. One of them asked if we were there to eat, handed us menus, and then let us know what wasn't in stock. It was a little weird that they were out of chicken quarters, pasta salad (or was it potato?), burgers (maybe that's a testament to their popularity), and bacon... Thankfully, the mac & cheese was available, so the mission wasn't a fail. The plus was that it came with a side of fries, and not just any-- they were seasoned sidewinder fries, for those of you who are fans of thicker potatoes. I had the Italian po-boy, which I really enjoyed. I thought they constructed it well, and the spicy relish wasn't too much heat if you're worried about that. It was definitely the right amount of food, too. I was able to clean the plate and not regret the last bite. At this point, they've been open for 8 months, so I think they've worked out the kinks, but we also showed up on a Wednesday night, so service was great and attentive. It might be different on weekends, but I'd come back to try more things on the food menu.

So I'll say that the Double Smash Burger is a three out of five from a standpoint of how much food you get. Definitely gives you the quantity of food, but from a quality standpoint, the bun didn't really speak to me. The seasoning of the burger didn't really speak to me, nor did the sauce on it. It was okay, it was just okay from that standpoint. So when you talk about the fries, I also say that it's a three out of five. The sauce is good. The crunch of the waffle fry is there. They're not overcooked or undercooked or anything like that, but they just don't give, oh my God, if you will. The chopped up smash burger isn't really chopped up as much as you would think. It's more of a patty with a couple chops where it needed to be more thoroughly chopped and spread across, if you will. It's definitely filling. They do not skimp you when it comes down to the quantity of food, but the quality of the flavor just doesn't make me say, "Heck yeah, I want to order that again." The experience, the area, the seating, the atmosphere, the live music, all of that is absolutely there. You can't take that away from the location. From a standpoint, if I have to run and tell everybody to try this food, that just wasn't there, and the prices weren't ridiculous either. I'm not going to say that they knock you over the head for the amount of food or for the food itself, but that's my experience. If you've never been here, you should definitely go check out the live music and check out the space. It's definitely a fun place to be out in the open, breathing clean air. Give it a try.

They have some great happy hour deals from 3-6pm as well! A member of my group ordered from the food trailer and I tried some of her fries and they were fresh, nicely salted, and beer battered. Super delicious and I didn't even need a dipping sauce. I would love to come back here and try some more options and lucky for me it's less than 2 miles from where I work.
