Italian panini

These place is a nice little shop for business people in the area to grab a quick bite, food was decent and their caramel machiavelli is not true to their photos as advertised a bit disappointing. I may add when we walked in I mentioned to the cashier it's my first time and I was hoping she would help guide us with the menu but she seemed a bit removed. Nonetheless a decent spot to grab a quick bite when in the area but I may mention kinda pricey. Each sandwich is about $10+

I love love the service here and the coffee! The guys are so friendly and nice and coffee and food are so good! It's a 5 minutes walk from my work and I'm so glad they're here. Plenty of place to sit and they also have an online point system for free coffee! Highly recommend!

Sexy bagel and cappuccino

Nice place to stop in for a coffee and bagel while staying across the street. Quiet, nice music, friendly staff. The sexy bagel exceeded expectations!

Indoor seating

Perfect little cafe nestled in a corporate building. Plenty of seating, inside was clean & inviting. Prices were fairly standard for food and coffee and the bagels we got were delicious!! Man at the counter was friendly & food & drinks came out quickly. Definitely recommend if you are in the area!

Hidden Gem in DTLB!

I've been coming here for the last couple years while I'm working downtown and it never disappoints! Grab their "Sexy" Bagel or a Breakfast Burrito and you'll be happy:) Not to mention the Holiday Coffee Menu that rotates! Thank you for keeping me going through the day

Uova Benedetto ($9.50)

This small cafe blew my mind! It's hidden on the side of an apartment complex but has plenty of seating inside and outside. I sat inside for a work meeting and had no trouble with the wifi. Just ask the cashier for the password. I got the Uova Benedetto ($9.50) which reminded me of a benedict; it came with two pieces of bread, two poached eggs, ham, and drizzled with pesto sauce! I would drive the 40 mins to eat this dish again. I got a hot latte, and it was decent. Parking in this area can be tricky. I accidentally turned down the wrong street and got on a highway to loop back around!! That sucked! I ended up parking on the street and paid the meter.

This place is amazing! I just discovered that this is the closest little coffee shop and lunch spot next to me and it's honestly such a gem. It's inside an apartment complex, so it's a little tough to find, but once you're in here -- the space is large with indoor and outdoor seating. The prices are super reasonable - you can get a grilled cheese and tomato soup for like $7, which is amazing! I ended up getting the uovo bendetto which were two pieces of toast, two poached eggs and prosciutto with some delicious pesto sauce. This thing was off the charts! I also got a cortado. The wifi was pretty strong for the duration of my stay. Highly recommended!

Burnt dense chalky bagel

We were recommended this place to get a good bagel. And it was such a disappointment that I had to let folks know the truth. I'm was an east coaster for a decade of my adult life and since I moved to Cali in 2018 I've really struggled to find any proper bagels (moongoat is the only spot I've loved) This place totally destroyed any hope for the proper bagel texture by smooshing it on a grill and literally burning the edges of my bagel. Y'all don't like toasters? Lol This cooking process pushes all the air out of the bagel making it dense and somehow chalky and because my bagel was actually burnt it tasted burnt. Cream cheese was ok lol

Soooooooo tempted by this scone in the display case.

Annoyed.... ordered another matcha with a shot of espresso. Did not taste espresso. Opened my cup and my tea was milky green. Maybe they didn't add the espresso.

Besides, for the next (insert the duration of your cruise here) days you'll be eating at the buffet a least once a day. No need to start Buffeting it up before you step foot on the Lido deck. That's what brought us to 5th Ave Bagelry. Located less than 1/2 mile from our hotel, it was an easy walk down the surprisingly un-busy streets of Long Beach, CA at 9:00 on a Thursday morning. 5th Ave Bagelry has A LOT of varieties of bagels. To put a number to it, about 25 different varieties of bagels, all made fresh on site daily. Add to that, 8 different flavours of cream cheese and you've got nearly endless bagel-and-cream-cheese options. To be fair, you're not limited to bagel & cream cheese. They also offer breakfast bagel sandwiches and non-breakfast bagel sandwiches and a few specialty items. Even though it was 9:00 in the morning I was tempted to try a pizza bagel but I resisted. The siren song of a jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese wins out every time. (This is a proven statistic. Just ask me.) They also offer an endless variety of coffees in just about every possible fashion (latte, espresso, iced, iced blended). Smoothies, juices, and soft drinks round out a very impressive selection of offerings. The staff at 5th Ave Bagelry appeared to be very focused. While they weren't swamped when we visited, they did have a steady influx of customers. It's an order-at-the-counter-and-we'll-call-your-number-when-it's-ready arrangement which seems to work well for them. All food is delivered in a paper bag. Our food delivery was about 10 minutes and everything was hot and accurate. My iced vanilla latte was exactly the go-juice I needed to jump start embarkation day. My jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese? Chef's kiss. I love jalapeño bagels that present a little spicy heat. The jalapeño cream cheese managed to round out my "Jim loves spicy food for breakfast" life choices. During our roughly 1/2 hour there I didn't see anyone come out from behind the counter to tidy up the dining room, which was needed. I'm assuming they had a pretty intense breakfast rush and just hadn't fully recovered yet, as one of the two trash bins was full. In a perfect world I'd be able to visit enough to try all of the bagels, but home isn't in Long Beach.

We wanted to try the simpler stuff on the menu. We got the just egg and sausage in a plain bagel and just egg and cheese and sausage on a Jalapeño bagel. I can't remember the last time we paid around $20 for a breakfast meal for two. They were both tasty but needed salt hot sauce and ketchup to be added. The best part is they have all this out for you to grab. Once we added it, it was so good. The portion size for the price is incredible. No way did I think I would pay 6.99 for a big bagel, a large piece of egg and 2 pieces of sausage. It was such a great price. Now I am so excited to come and try others. But the prices do jump nearly double, but I think it will be worth it. Check out the menu pics I added to see the prices. It's hard to hear inside. We sat inside to eat since it was very clean and well maintained. They brought us our bagels but I think that was because we forgot to get up from being called. Again it was hard to hear but when the food came out it was all worth it! The jalapeño bagel did not shine as much. It tasted like a plain bagel with no spice even from the bits of jalapeños. This made me wonder if their sweet bagels are different. They recommend the Asiago bagel so maybe I'll try that for the next savory option. Honestly I don't know when they make the bagels but we came around 11am, try coming earlier and maybe the bagels will be fresher. By noon the line picked up, but it never got as busy as other stores around. I'm excited to come back and try the omelet sandwiches and other bagels!

I finally decided to try Ground Hideout Coffee and will definitely be back!…read more The aesthetic is super cute and cozy with lots of natural light, plants, and comfortable seating. I placed a pickup order and it was ready in about 15 minutes. I stopped by around 1 PM, which seemed to be one of their busiest times. The employees looked super busy, and they may have been a little understaffed, but everyone was still friendly, calm, and professional. My food was ready first and the drinks came shortly after. Both the food and coffee were a solid 9/10 -- everything tasted fresh and delicious. It was definitely worth the wait. The only thing to keep in mind is parking. It appears to be mostly metered street parking, and I got lucky because the meter I parked at still had time left on it. Overall, great coffee, great food, and a really cute atmosphere. Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu! (p.s I got Cookie Butter Latte, Carrot Cake Latte, Sunrise Sandwich, Almond Butter Toast, Caprese Melt)

The staff was friendly and able to make some good recommendations. I got the sunrise sandwich and cookie butter latte. The cookie butter latte came with a biscoff cookie on top which made it look really cute. It was not overly sweet which I appreciated. The sunrise sandwich had a house made habanero jam which provided a good amount of heat. The arugula was a nice fresh ingredient addition atop the crispy bacon. If I lived in the area I would surely be back because this place was delicious!

The owner said he's reaching out to Yelp to get the incorrect gluten free listing removed, which it seems has been done. With that in mind I updated my review from 1 to 3. While I appreciate that the misunderstanding may have been caused by Yelp, the customer service (when in the restaurant) could have been more respectful and not dismissive/judging. The yelp page says they have gluten free options but that isn't the case. They had no gluten free options and the employee working acted as though the question of gluten free options was ridiculous. We pointed out that the yelp page says they have gluten free and asked if that's charged, but they rudely responded and said they don't pay attention to yelp. Maybe they should pay attention.

The reason for why we don't frequent this place enough is because it's quite a trek by foot from where we work. Since we didn't come that early, most of their freshly baked goodies are mostly sold out by the time we usually get there (late 9-10am). Service is great, plenty of places to sit indoor to work/study, and just be. Coffee and matcha are also yummy! Def Rec!

My entire food journey started in a Columbia, Maryland food court at The Mall and a grilled Reuben…read moreat the age of 13. Since then the grilled Reuben has been my measuring stick for every restaurant that serves it. It's a must! It shows the attention to detail. It's not a sandwich you can rush. It requires its own time to caramelize and set the flavors up properly. Just like a house made soup, a Grilled Reuben can tell you a lot. And, it just happens to be my favorite sandwich of all time! So. High marks on the store itself. It has a very open air feel, lots of natural lighting, high ceilings and then a hidden court yard behind the shop. It's very clean with lots of colors and art. The music is perfect for the space. The menu is varied and they have both alcoholic drinks and non alcoholic drinks. It's a deli. And they absolutely fill the roll perfectly. And as anyone will tell you, who frequents any deli in the country. What matters is the food. Period. All the niceties mean nothing if the food distant stand up. So... how did they do? Meh. I've had worse. Much worse. I've also had much better. And understand his is my personal opinion. I'm well aware that my comments will not reflect the opinion of everyone. But, the corned beef. They do not cook it in house. It didn't appear to be a brisket although with it being shaved as thinly as it is I don't know if that would help. Brisket corned beer works best when it's nice thick beautiful cuts that break apart and melt in your mouth. But. As you can see in the picture, they don't grill the corned beef but they do pile it pretty darn high. Which is nice. The sauerkraut wasn't grilled. The rye wasn't roasted long enough so the Swiss didn't properly melt and set. Not enough Thousand Island dressing. The rye has the perfect texture and it helps to very nicely. An excellent Jewish rye! The pesto pasta salad was very nice. And it looked as if the other sides were made with an equal amount of attention and love. So high marks there. This is one of those tough reviews because the reality is the atmosphere, the staff and the location are all excellent. The sandwich needs some work. Remember that the Grilled Reuben is the ONLY TRUE American Sandwich. It was created from scratch for the 1942 World's Fair in New York City. It's an original! Treat it with the respect it deserves. And this three star sandwich... of all sandwiches is a hard pass. Sorry. But, if you would ever like to have me come into your restaurant and show you how to serve the best Reuben of your life... just invite me back. I'd love to show you how to make some simple tweaks and turn a meh into a don't miss!
