Omelet with tomatoes, basil & arugula (asked to substitute red onions with arugula)
    Kathy M.

Had a work meeting at LB Hilton. Didn't want to eat at the hotel as the prices were very high. This place is a short walk down Ocean Blvd. It seemed like a "Cheers" of lunch places where the staff greeted their regulars with their names. The prices are very reasonable. It was clean and inviting. It's a small place at the bottom of a high rise building. They serve breakfast all day so I got an omelet & it was good. I substituted red onions with arugula without any issue or extra charge. The bread that came with the omelet was nicely toasted. My coworker got a panini sandwich and she enjoyed it. Nice little spot for lunch. I will come back even if i am not working nearby. The staff were very friendly & accommodating

These place is a nice little shop for business people in the area to grab a quick bite, food was decent and their caramel machiavelli is not true to their photos as advertised a bit disappointing. I may add when we walked in I mentioned to the cashier it's my first time and I was hoping she would help guide us with the menu but she seemed a bit removed. Nonetheless a decent spot to grab a quick bite when in the area but I may mention kinda pricey. Each sandwich is about $10+

I love love the service here and the coffee! The guys are so friendly and nice and coffee and food are so good! It's a 5 minutes walk from my work and I'm so glad they're here. Plenty of place to sit and they also have an online point system for free coffee! Highly recommend!

Nice place to stop in for a coffee and bagel while staying across the street. Quiet, nice music, friendly staff. The sexy bagel exceeded expectations!

Perfect little cafe nestled in a corporate building. Plenty of seating, inside was clean & inviting. Prices were fairly standard for food and coffee and the bagels we got were delicious!! Man at the counter was friendly & food & drinks came out quickly. Definitely recommend if you are in the area!

    Hidden Gem in DTLB!

I've been coming here for the last couple years while I'm working downtown and it never disappoints! Grab their "Sexy" Bagel or a Breakfast Burrito and you'll be happy:) Not to mention the Holiday Coffee Menu that rotates! Thank you for keeping me going through the day

    Uova Benedetto ($9.50)

This small cafe blew my mind! It's hidden on the side of an apartment complex but has plenty of seating inside and outside. I sat inside for a work meeting and had no trouble with the wifi. Just ask the cashier for the password. I got the Uova Benedetto ($9.50) which reminded me of a benedict; it came with two pieces of bread, two poached eggs, ham, and drizzled with pesto sauce! I would drive the 40 mins to eat this dish again. I got a hot latte, and it was decent. Parking in this area can be tricky. I accidentally turned down the wrong street and got on a highway to loop back around!! That sucked! I ended up parking on the street and paid the meter.

This place is amazing! I just discovered that this is the closest little coffee shop and lunch spot next to me and it's honestly such a gem. It's inside an apartment complex, so it's a little tough to find, but once you're in here -- the space is large with indoor and outdoor seating. The prices are super reasonable - you can get a grilled cheese and tomato soup for like $7, which is amazing! I ended up getting the uovo bendetto which were two pieces of toast, two poached eggs and prosciutto with some delicious pesto sauce. This thing was off the charts! I also got a cortado. The wifi was pretty strong for the duration of my stay. Highly recommended!

    Burnt dense chalky bagel
    Meredith S.

We were recommended this place to get a good bagel. And it was such a disappointment that I had to let folks know the truth. I'm was an east coaster for a decade of my adult life and since I moved to Cali in 2018 I've really struggled to find any proper bagels (moongoat is the only spot I've loved) This place totally destroyed any hope for the proper bagel texture by smooshing it on a grill and literally burning the edges of my bagel. Y'all don't like toasters? Lol This cooking process pushes all the air out of the bagel making it dense and somehow chalky and because my bagel was actually burnt it tasted burnt. Cream cheese was ok lol

Soooooooo tempted by this scone in the display case.

In that ~50 minutes while we waited, I saw an older white couple who came in after us, get drinks and their food served long before us. I also saw another white couple (younger) who came in after us, get served drinks and their food before us. It was far from being a busy night too. There was definitely a level of discrimination against us. If you stop by nowadays you can tell their business is suffering because of how they treat people. It's almost always empty. Be advised! I would NOT reccommend. There are plenty of better Italian restaurants in Long Beach.

My favorite that is not pictured is the gnocchi. I crave it so often, I try to replicate it until I return back to Ellie's For the price, this place is $$$. Especially because when you are having a rich pasta, you MUST get the wine to go with it. Everything from here does add up but it's worth every obstacle (centralizing theme within this review). Servers are amazing and beautiful people. They are always in a genuine great mood that makes the dining experience great. Though the inside of the restaurant is small, there is plenty of tables on its patio. The patio is on the sidewalk, which I normally hate because restaurants typically lack in service and ambience when seated outside. Not for Ellie's, service and ambience is even better outside. I find it too stuffy and crowded inside the restaurant.

It was tasty, but I just realized later it was missing the nduja sausage listed on the menu. For my entrée, I had the paccheri pasta with braised short rib. The beef itself was rich, tender, and full of flavor--reminded me of an Italian birria, which I loved. But the rigatoni tasted undercooked, which was disappointing. My fiancé ordered the tagliata, and wow--she definitely picked the better dish. The steak was perfectly seasoned, cooked to a beautiful medium rare, and paired with a silky potato purée that was absolutely delicious. Let's start with the win: the burger was "the best he's had in a long time"--which says a lot. Kudos on the burger! The banana smoothie also got a thumbs-up. Everything else? Meh. The pancake was okay. The scrambled eggs were... weird. Tiny little egg bits that had me wondering, are these real eggs? I asked for crispy bacon; it wasn't, so I couldn't eat it. The breakfast potatoes tasted reheated--no crisp, not much flavor, no joy. And the London Fog? Don't expect Starbucks loveliness. The plain black coffee was better. I also had the grapefruit juice, it was bitter, but tasted fresh squeezed, which I appreciate. Service was good. My server saw that I didn't eat my food and tried to make it better. The venue is nice, but if you're coming for great food--burger aside--we didn't find it here. The velvet chairs are comfortable and beautiful, but the stains and spills were evident. I was worried when I sat down about what was on the chairs getting on my dress. Overall, it's a place we'd only return to if we were craving that burger, everything else was a fail. I left hungry. Last morning here at the Fairmont. Tried breakfast at Nettuno again... disappointed and leaving hungry again. This time we had oatmeal (needed to add water, so dry we stuck the spoon in it and it stood straight up and didn't fall over), fruit (good), boiled eggs (took 20 minutes), and the avocado toast with a fried egg. It was not good. The menu says it comes with kale, but I received mixed greens with it, not kale and the flavor was bad. It's hard to make bad avocado toast, but they did. Disappointing. Plus, service was very slow today. Our order came out incomplete and out of order. The atmosphere is beautiful, but this restaurant has a lot to work on to be worthy of its prices and the Fairmont brand. Second fail.

We had a great time to find some new hand care products @Lather and went to discover an authentic italian restaurant which lots of Yelpers mentioned. We love meat lasagna, pasta w bolonese sauce, and some flat breads like appetizer pizza. We ordered 3, lasagna, tagliatelle bolonese, flat bread sandwich called Cassone w sausage, bell pepper, onions. I had some italian red wine per glass ($14). First, I loved so much my lasagna and kept eating until finish my entire portion. I give 10 stars. My wife's pasta, she said pasta is too thick, might be on purpose? She likes soft, thin texture handmade tagliatelle. For the first time, we ordered flat bread sandwich. The sandwich flavor was good, but not the dough for flat bread. Well, we tried here for the 1st time after shopping. Today was almost 81 this afternoon. Hot and humid.....unluckily AC was broken so he opened the entrance door. One big fly bothered a lot annoying us eating the foods. And so hot inside restaurant. Overall, I liked my lasagna a lot, not really tagliatelle bolonese, nor the flat bread sandwich. If AC was working during lunch time. We felt much comfortable to enjoy our foods. One thing, I loved the red wine but the portion was not enough for $14. Even my wife said, not much for this price. I got 2 glasses of italian red wine, not enough. The view was great ocean side from the patio. This is a strong point eating here for the view. My wife saw the live pasta cooking show, a chef made the pasta, stretching the pasta dough in the kitchen....great show! Fun!
