Update: The owner reached out to let me know that the page was created by Yelp and not the business. The owner said he's reaching out to Yelp to get the incorrect gluten free listing removed, which it seems has been done. With that in mind I updated my review from 1 to 3. While I appreciate that the misunderstanding may have been caused by Yelp, the customer service (when in the restaurant) could have been more respectful and not dismissive/judging. The yelp page says they have gluten free options but that isn't the case. They had no gluten free options and the employee working acted as though the question of gluten free options was ridiculous. We pointed out that the yelp page says they have gluten free and asked if that's charged, but they rudely responded and said they don't pay attention to yelp. This is one of the better coffee places in DTLB that I book-marked for a while and haven't been able to make it until recently. Since then, my colleagues and I came back twice. The reason for why we don't frequent this place enough is because it's quite a trek by foot from where we work. Since we didn't come that early, most of their freshly baked goodies are mostly sold out by the time we usually get there (late 9-10am). The guy who took my order was kind of condescending when I told him I had a pick up that I placed on yelp. He immediately stated- "We don't take orders on yelp" which is fine. I could have been wrong but he was so quick to correct me. However, I did place my order online yelp which later I found out is partnered with Grubhub to complete the transaction. Anyways, my order was not ready and I waited an extra +15 minutes for my coffee. I was close to canceling my order but I felt bad because there is only one guy who was making all the drinks and I could tell he was trying his best with orders. I'm currently sitting here eating my sandwich while writing this review cause of how happy I am right now. We got the bagel sandwiches with bacon, one jalapeño bagel & one cheddar. Each sandwich was $10 but seriously WORTH IT. The bagels are so good & the crunch on the outside but fluffy on the inside. I've visited Saints & Sinners a few times and honestly I've been unimpressed. The only upside to this place is their mini chocolate chip cookies but that's about it. The service here could use some work as one of the men who works here has somewhat of an attitude. I asked if they had any other pastries and he had rudely said something along the lines of, "what you see is what you get". I ordered a vanilla iced coffee and it was horrible. He basically gave me black coffee with some sort of disgusting vanilla syrup. I had to add some Splenda packets in an attempt to salvage my drink but it was still gross. My boyfriend urged me to ask the guy for another drink but I didn't want to receive any further attitude so I ended up just trashing it. Update: tried the Cheddar Drop Biscuit breakfast sandwich with Bacon and that was the moment I knew this place should be a Michelin bake shop. The Lavender Ice Latte is really good but it can sometimes taste milky, they tell you to speak up about it but honestly, it's kinda hard when someone the staff are super busy,and I feel like they get annoyed easily so I don't want to inconvenience them. They are a family owned Bakeshop of 4 and everything is definitely worth the wait. There's one particular guy there who super nice and very patient and he very customer friendly. With the food being a 10/10 each time service is a must for me, and who ever that nice guy is, he's merely another reason I keep coming back. I understand that's it's super earlier and sometime you don't want to deal with people, I get it I deal with that everyday as well. Just remember although your food speaks for itself self so does your customer service. I go super early like maybe 10-20 minutes after opening and I'm not always the first person in there, they also have a lot of fresh baked items that don't start rolling out until maybe an hour after opening and some ppl are mad at that. I understand that's if an establishment says they are open at a specific time they are expecting to get the items they are looking for but let's not forget that they have tea and coffee and other baked goods that come out earlier. My new favorite breakfast spot. I discovered them about a month ago and it's perfect. I always order the brioche bun sandwich. The bun is fluffy and fresh; the egg is whipped incredibly to create this lofty taste; the cinnamon roll OMG. I enjoy their coffee extremely and look forward to it. The workers are laid back and chill which contributes to the chill and nice vibe, especially in the morning. They're also a bakery and I saw them prep an amazing cake. As others have mentioned, there's a public parking structure right across the street. Free 2 hour parking. Take advantage of that when you come here! Also, pro tip. Get here early so that you can have more bakery options to choose from. Once they're gone, they're gone! Until tomorrow, of course. I stumbled upon this place one weekend when my wife went to a baby shower. I needed somewhere to sit and get some work done. I always want to try out new coffee shops especially when I'm in a new area. We rarely venture to Long Beach, so looked up Yelp and found this place. I'm glad I did! The shop itself is not small, but not big. It had a decent amount of seating and there are plenty of windows to keep things bright. I got here around 11am on a Saturday so there weren't many items left. However! There was a garlic cheddar biscuit left so I snagged that one and ordered a latte. Because I got it to enjoy in the store, they brought it out in a mug (which I love) with the biscuit warmed up. The biscuit was fantastic. I always love myself a cheddar garlic biscuit. So good... The latte was good too, but wasn't necessarily one that stood out either way. By that, I mean that it isn't mind blowing (which is totally ok!), and it wasn't terrible. 11/5/2023 This is a combined review from visiting the past two times. Both on a weekday. Warning: This is a long review. ** Be mindful of the hours! They open at 8:00am, but close at 1:00pm or 2:00pm daily depending on the day. So keep that in mind before you decide to drop by! ** All their baked goods such as scones and bagels are made in-house and will be fresh out of the oven at 9:00am every day! But they do not refresh their baked items in their display case, so it's first come, first serve until sold out! So come in around that time if you want to grab any of those items. DROP BISCUIT SANDWICH Warm, buttery, flaky garlic cheddar drop biscuit with thinly sliced ham, cream cheese and melty, gooey cheddar cheese. This was so good! It was the perfect size too! These are to die for! JALAPEÑO CHEDDAR BAGEL Deliciousss! Made in-house and it shows! Lovely springy bagel bread sprinkled with jalapeño and cheddar. Bagel is not thin, but has a beautiful spongy bite to it. Toasted or untoasted, it was delicious with or without cream cheese. When toasted, delightfully crunchy on the outside and bread is still chewy and not dry. PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE This was good, although there was more  nutmeg than cinnamon, which was kinda' sad. However, loved the frothy creamy milk. If only there was more flavor overall. COFFEE CAKE SCONE I'm gonna say it again. Deeeelicioussss! Fluffy and soft with the outside layers having a light crunch! Enjoyed every bite! Yes, it does taste like coffee cake, but subtle in flavor. If you didn't know the name, you'd probably think it's a cinnamon scone. But still more buttery than cinnamony. CHOCOLATE CHIP SCONE This had a good amount of choc chips in each bite! However, I realized that the freshly baked scones do not taste the same after a few hours. Texture-wise still moist and biscuit-like in some areas, but some parts were dry. Unfortunate because the Coffee Cake Scone was a completely different experience! Scones should be consumed ASAP. Get there early to grab a scone or two fresh! BREAKFAST SANDWICH Yes, gonna say it again! This was deeelicioussss! Recommended to me by the barista, so I had to try it! Fluffy scrambled eggs, sausage patty (a bit thin though), gooey melty cheddar cheese on a soft buttery brioche bun! Heavenlyyy! I don't think this is offered daily, as I did not see this on the daily menu, so if you see it, order it without a second thought! Eat it right away! Once you try it, you'll be dreaming of them daily! CALI BLT Wanted to try an avocado toast and it seems this was the only toast on the menu with avocado in it. But didn't realize bacon was added too, hence the BLT.  Their house-made sourdough bread was absolutely crunchy, spongy, delightful! Super delish! That bread was so good and that crusty cheddar melted on top! The toppings were okay and wished it was a simpler toast with maybe heirloom tomatoes, smashed avocado, sea salt, black pepper and sprinkled with olive oil. CHEDDAR BAGEL (with Garlic Herb Cream Cheese) Toasted, it was perfectly chewy and lightly crunchy cheddar top on the outside. It was perfect as it was! The garlickly chunky herbed cream cheese was delicious with the bagel. I am officially a fan of their bagels! Not buying them elsewhere! CAPPUCCINO (Hot) Overall decent flavor. Steamed milk was perfect. BROWNIE The brownie was moist with a crumbly top. Good cocoa and semi-sweet chocolate flavor coming through! PEANUT BUTTER CUP LATTE (Hot) This had a lovely peanut butter flavor and had the right amount of sweetness! Enjoyed this! Ordering again next time! STEPH JUDGEMENT: Quality baked goods made to order. I was looking to get my chocolate-loving hubby a special cake for his bday and thought I'd give these guys a try. They list combinations of cake and frosting flavors on their website, but I wanted something totally custom. I just told them I wanted something very chocolatey and if they could work in some bourbon in there too that'd be great. They asked how many people it should serve, and when I wanted it by. When I came in to get the cake on the designated day, I was very impressed. It looked and smelled fantastic and I loved the little fondant sign with the beautifully written birthday message. The only bummer was that they didn't have a box to enclose the tall narrow cake fully, so I had to carry it around in a half-open box, which made me a little nervous. They cake was firmly chilled so it wasn't going anywhere, but it still felt weird. Anyhoo, the cake was a hit--truly delicious. It was a little spendy, but it was perfect, so I really can't complain! First of all, I've been to this place many times and every time it has never cease to amaze me. The food here is delicious however limited on the daily apparently. If you don't show up early enough, you may just miss out on some of the better baked goods. Starting off, the cheese danish. One of the better cheese danishes I've had. It's soft, glazed and filled with a good amount of cheese. This was one of the last ones, had to try and it didn't disappoint. The biscuits, these were probably their best baked goods here (at least to me). It's soft, fluffy, full of flavor and definitely home made. I highly recommend one (or two) of these bad boys. The biscuit sandwich, now for the price, definitely worth the bite. They make it fresh as well, takes a little bit of time but that's probably because only one or two person working so be sure to have a little patience. The sandwich was warm, fluffy however falls apart fairly easily. I would like to see if hold itself up a little better but I think that's what you get for having it on a biscuit that's very soft (still delicious). Their scone!!! The maple brown sugar was my favorite however they ran out. I tried the other one, forgot I think Kay have been the chocolate, it was good but the maple one was better. Also had the coffee, which was delicious. Ended up getting the vanilla lavender ice coffee, that had a hint of lavender in every sip, if you don't like lavender, it can be a little much. By name, I associated this place with just being a bakery. I have had this spot on my radar for a while but just for cakes and other baked goods. Driving down Pine Street, the store front caught my eye and I quickly turned around, parked my car and went inside. An open space concept with a walk up counter and bakery items for sale right next to it as you walk in and off to the right side is the coffee bar area. Next to the register is a list of toasts and other breakfast items. Simple menu, quite place to enjoy your meal or work, and very tasty food. Wow am I glad I discovered they are more than just a bakery. A very impressive Lavender Vanilla Latte paired nicely with the Deluxe Ham and Cheese Savory Toast. Portions are on the smaller side, perfect portions actually, which means no left overs for me, but leaves a lasting impression after every visit.
