Very cool, kinda old school diner!! Greeted and seated right away at the counter (solo dining). Service was quick and pleasant with much needed coffee to start me off. I had 2 eggs, hamburg patty and toast. Everything was cooked perfect and served hot. The potatoes were a kind of soft crinkle cut style... different and delicious!! The menu is pretty standard fare with breakfast and lunch staples from burgers to pancakes. It's rather small inside so be patient if you have to wait for a table. Service was o-k. Great spot for breakfast and lunch. Parking can be a hassle but worth it. Chuck's has been around since the 60's and it's charm is still there. I love the Chicken Fried Steak breakfast. I have happily eaten here for MANY years, but get so excited when I get my food I forget to take pics! The service is always epic and I even get hugs, since we go so often. It's a small, diner style coffee shop, comfy booths and outdoor seating with an ocean view. Anything you order, seriously anything, will be delicious and the food comes out quickly! I'm a creature of habit - have to have their little circle breakfast potatoes w/ the "ham 'n' scram." To make it an even more quintessential beachside diner, the windows open up like they would in a home to let the cool breeze filter through. They really nail the beach vibe. The menu at Chuck's is pretty unfussy - breakfast, sandwiches, some Mexican fare. First off, I need to talk about the "Weasel" ($15.95) which comes with 3 scrambled eggs topped with the homemade chili served with potatoes and toast. Cheese and onions are optional. I took the option and I suggest that you do too. It's served with potato disks which are essentially flattened fries (?). So what I was in fact eating was chili (with beans), over eggs, with fries in disguise. It was breakfast, but not, and I liked it very much. I liked that the homemade chili was hearty with beans otherwise I feel like the egg + chili situation would have tasted trashy. Not for everyone, but yes for me. The turkey melt ($14.95) was also quite good. It comes with avocado, tomato + Swiss cheese on sourdough. They griddle the thick slices of turkey before it goes into the sandwich. The griddling gives the turkey nice, crispy edges which I really appreciated. I would 100% order this again. If you like a good diner, Chuck's is a good one. read more

When Chuck owned it, it was the best all they do now is try to save a few pennies on buying the cheap catch-up. They don't use quality Heinz ketchup. Chuck had that place running like a fine tune piano whoever took it over is too busy saving pennies and selling poor quality was excited to go there today. Cash only! I was down in Long Beach in the morning and have been to all the other diners and coffee shops in the area, but for some reason had never been to Chuck's. It has a great location right next to the water and there is a lot of free parking surrounding the restaurant, which is extremely convenient. It's quite small on the inside, but they have a lot of tables inside and out and they seem to turn quickly, so you most likely won't have to wait very long. The menu is pretty small but has a lot of good classic items on it. Our server was not the most polite and took about 15 minutes or more to stop by after we sat down to get our drink order and then took another long time before she came back for our food order. Everything arrived a lot slower than I am used to for the diner or coffee shop so that was a bit of a surprise. For my breakfast I chose the #3 Omelette, which is Beef and Ortega Green Chile and thought it was pretty good, although not nearly as good as other versions that I've had recently. The chile didn't have as much punch as I'm used to and it was honestly a smaller portion than I usually get at other places. I also felt that the beef wasn't seasoned at all. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't memorable and I would not suggest ordering it. I also was not a huge fan of the coffee. It tasted a little bit bitter to me so overall, I don't feel that I will be back but would encourage anyone who is in the area to give it a try. read more

Beautiful beach front location, excellent customer service (our server Riley was super friendly, efficient, and had great menu recommendations!), and absolutely delicious food. The fries to go were good but expensive, more expensive than fast food but almost smaller portions or about the same size. They have almost nothing on their menu that is vegan without modification! The inside is old and classic beach diner vibes. This place is more a diner than coffee shop. Service seemed cool but were a bit slow! Hope to see more vegan options one day. read more

Ate here for brunch on a Sat Afternoon. Went inside to get seated, it was open seating. Sat ourselves outside. Waited for a few minutes for someone to attend to us. Both selections did not disappoint and the value was pretty good especially given the location. The only downside, albeit slight, is that they only take cash so be prepared. Dear Owner, We have been regular customers of yours for quite some time. Recently, we had an experience where we waiting 50 mins to have breakfast on Saturday. We usually bring our pets so we are required to sit outside. On this occasion we put our names down and kept coming back to check in. You had people that had checks, and cash on the table and weren't leaving nor did the waitress ask them if the could take the cash. This included lady who brought her own food and was utilizing one of the tables. We understand that it is a first come first serve. However we asked if we could walk our dogs and texts us when we were up for seating. We were told that was not possible. After wasting our time we chose to go to another restaurant. This was poor management and inconsiderate to all the customers who had to wait. We will most like not return to your establishment anytime soon due this issue. read more
