This is such a cool little coffee shop. It's nostalgic like an old timey place. They only accept cash too, I LOVED IT! Food was fresh and good sized. You get a nice ocean breeze and view.

Been here several times do the last several years. Great old local breakfast joint, cash only and they do have ATM inside in case. Parking are street, meters or parking lot w/ pay. Overlook the water abs nearby the pier. Friendly and cheerful staff and menu is quite big for small place. Great vibe and the foods are quite good with reasonable prices. Nice to sit and enjoys a cup of joe inside or outside with ocean breeze in the morning.

Chuck's Coffee Shop is the bees knees. The booths at Chuck's are a blue sea blue color. To make it an even more quintessential beachside diner, the windows open up like they would in a home to let the cool breeze filter through. They really nail the beach vibe. The menu at Chuck's is pretty unfussy - breakfast, sandwiches, some Mexican fare. First off, I need to talk about the "Weasel" ($15.95) which comes with 3 scrambled eggs topped with the homemade chili served with potatoes and toast. Cheese and onions are optional. I took the option and I suggest that you do too. It's served with potato disks which are essentially flattened fries (?). So what I was in fact eating was chili (with beans), over eggs, with fries in disguise. It was breakfast, but not, and I liked it very much. I liked that the homemade chili was hearty with beans otherwise I feel like the egg + chili situation would have tasted trashy. Not for everyone, but yes for me. The turkey melt ($14.95) was also quite good. It comes with avocado, tomato + Swiss cheese on sourdough. They griddle the thick slices of turkey before it goes into the sandwich. The griddling gives the turkey nice, crispy edges which I really appreciated. I would 100% order this again. If you like a good diner, Chuck's is a good one.

The food wasn't even that good. The hollandaise tasted like heavy cream and mayonnaise. But oddly, thats not the point. The vibes were amazing. I felt like I was transported back in time. It felt like pure nostalgia "Back To The Future" type of environment. I couldn't help but notice all the lives of each diner and the interior design. The servers and staff were extremely friendly through and through. It was MY fault that I ordered an eggs benedict at a diner, but hey I did. I'll be coming back to try their chili and egg breakfast dish.

We stumbled upon this fun little diner during our Long Beach and were pleasantly surprised! It has that classic, no-frills charm that immediately makes you feel like a local. The atmosphere is casual and welcoming, with friendly staff and fast service that keeps everything moving smoothly--even when it's busy. Just a heads-up: it's cash only, so make sure to bring cash. I ordered the Sunshine Special, which was the perfect way to start the day--generous portions, perfectly cooked eggs, and crispy hash browns that hit the spot. My husband went with the Country Fried Steak with Gravy, which he thoroughly enjoyed. Location wise it's just steps from the beach! Whether you're a local or just visiting, this diner is a hidden gem that captures the laid-back coastal vibe perfectly.

#3 Omelette: Beef and Ortega Green Chile

Cash only! I was down in Long Beach in the morning and have been to all the other diners and coffee shops in the area, but for some reason had never been to Chuck's. It has a great location right next to the water and there is a lot of free parking surrounding the restaurant, which is extremely convenient. It's quite small on the inside, but they have a lot of tables inside and out and they seem to turn quickly, so you most likely won't have to wait very long. The menu is pretty small but has a lot of good classic items on it. Our server was not the most polite and took about 15 minutes or more to stop by after we sat down to get our drink order and then took another long time before she came back for our food order. Everything arrived a lot slower than I am used to for the diner or coffee shop so that was a bit of a surprise. For my breakfast I chose the #3 Omelette, which is Beef and Ortega Green Chile and thought it was pretty good, although not nearly as good as other versions that I've had recently. The chile didn't have as much punch as I'm used to and it was honestly a smaller portion than I usually get at other places. I also felt that the beef wasn't seasoned at all. It wasn't terrible, but it definitely wasn't memorable and I would not suggest ordering it. I also was not a huge fan of the coffee. It tasted a little bit bitter to me so overall, I don't feel that I will be back but would encourage anyone who is in the area to give it a try.

I happened to be close to this diner and I was hungry, so I decided to come to this place for a late breakfast. The diner: The place is a small restaurant, very quaint and very clean. The waitstaff: Staff were welcoming and very attentive. The drinks: I had the brewed coffee and it was amazing! The main course: I had the omelette with veggies with a side of fruit and sourdough toast. It was delicious! The conclusion: I enjoyed every bit of breakfast. Will I be back? Absolutely! By the way, it's CASH ONLY. There's an ATM inside the diner for your convenience.

    Geronimo T.

Ate here for brunch on a Sat Afternoon. Went inside to get seated, it was open seating. Sat ourselves outside. Waited for a few minutes for someone to attend to us. Took our orders. 10 minutes later we received our order of French Toast, Tuna Melt and cottage cheese. All was delicious! I recommend this place! Pros: Food is delicous, service was fast, French fries tasted like McDonald's fries lol (if you like Miickey Dee's fries) , Cool vibe by the beach, OLD school. Cons: Pending what time you go, parking is horrible, One restroom, if seated outside.. Flies everywhere!! Place is small! And The number #1 reason... drum roll please..... CASH ONLY!!! If you don't have cash, they have an ATM machine inside that Charges a service charge of $3 or more per bank institution! Overall, I will come back.. only If I have cash. Nobody carries cash anymore. The restaurants way to save $$$ from a tax write off.

PS: Bring CASH, they have an ATM too though Been living in Belmont Shore for over a year now and always saw Chuck's Coffee shop on the corner and never pulled the trigger. Finally stopped by and I'm glad I did. Love the old school diner type of feel, I haven't ate a place like this in a while. It seems like this is THE local spot and their are a bunch of regulars dining in to catch up with their friends. They have plenty of inside and outside seating. We sat outside and enjoyed the ocean views and cold breeze! The food here is pretty decent and it's exactly what I expected= SIMPLE! This place isn't spectacular but gets the job done. They have scrambles, skillets, omelettes and more. I got the Fisherman's Breakfast which came with 3 Eggs, 4 strips of bacon and sausage ( I did two bacon, two sausage), 1 toast and potatoes. I would totally get this again, especially ordering potatoes because they were almost like chips. They were thin and were sorda crispy.

THIS PLACE RIGHT HERE!!! All surrounding brunch spots... meet your match…read more This family-owned gem is about to take over the downtown brunch scene. My family and I stopped in on a Saturday around 10 a.m. The place was already packed with a line out the door, but don't let that scare you. The wait moved fast, and the staff ran that dining room like a well-oiled machine while somehow making you feel like you were a guest in their home. You order at the front, grab your number, then impatiently wait for greatness. Right away, the baristas were brewing, shaking, and stirring up some of the best drinks I've had in a long time. Matcha, mochas... Starbucks could NEVER. I ordered the banana strawberry matcha and an iced mocha. While I was at the counter, I obviously had to grab pastries because... self-control wasn't invited. The display alone had me ready to order 14 of 'em. I went with the tiramisu cookie, guava croissant, and strawberry cream croissant. Now for the main event. There were four of us, so naturally we ordered enough food for a small village. Savory pancakes, a bulgogi breakfast burrito with fries, steak and eggs, another breakfast burrito, and the Thai pizza. Yep. We came to eat. While we waited, I took in the atmosphere. The entire place felt warm and inviting. Sunlight poured through the windows, giving it the feeling of eating breakfast on your family's back patio. Just laughter, clinking forks, happy conversations, and those little "mmm" moments happening at every table. That's always a good sign. The Thai pizza hit the table first. Fresh out of the oven and straight to Flavor Town. The crust had to be handmade because there was no way something that good came from a freezer. The basil, sausage, and everything working together made this anything but your average pizza. It was different--in the best way possible. Five minutes later... Gone. Next up were the savory pancakes. At first glance, they looked simple. Then I took a bite. That little stack of fluffy pancakes topped with berry butter didn't even need syrup. THANK YOU for understanding that pancakes don't need to cover an entire plate to be memorable. These were soft, flavorful, perfectly sweet, and somehow disappeared before I could fully appreciate everything else on the plate. Speaking of everything else... The steamed eggs were light and fluffy. The hash browns? Listen... Whatever they're doing to those potatoes back there needs to be studied. They had the perfect golden crunch with this buttery goodness that made me question every hash brown I've ever eaten. Fried in beef tallow? Magic? I don't know. I just know I wanted another order immediately. The bacon deserved its own shoutout too. Fresh, crispy, and full of flavor--not bacon that was cooked at 5 a.m. and has been sitting around waiting for someone's Grand Slam order. This bacon had integrity. Then came the steak and eggs. The steak was tender, juicy, and seasoned perfectly. I had absolutely no interest in sharing. But somehow the potatoes still managed to steal part of the spotlight. Again... Those potatoes. Give me 14 of those babies to go. The breakfast burritos were packed with flavor, but those crispy potatoes inside gave them the texture that took them from good to unforgettable. And that green aioli? Bottle that stuff up. Immediately. This place just gets it. They understand that quality matters. Every ingredient tasted intentional, every dish felt like someone actually cared before it hit the table. Too many restaurants are cutting corners these days, and I will happily support businesses that refuse to compromise. Worth every penny. This is hands down one of the best brunch spots I've been to in a long time, and I already can't wait to come back. Do yourself a favor and go. Just don't blame me when there's a line.

Each was perfect. The sliced/cubed steak had a hint of sweetness and was tender. If you're picky about eggs benedict, you'll appreciate this place. The coconut cream that accompanied the pancakes is addictive. The service was great. Looking forward to returning to try different things on the menu. I bookmarked Lazy Dough as a place to bring friends and family.

Reservations are fairly easy to get, which make it an optimal choice if I'm looking to have a nice meal. The ambiance of Saint & Second is what sets it apart from other Belmont Shore restaurants. There's indoor seating and rooftop seating upstairs, and both areas are designed impeccably. The food menu changes every few months, which is great because it allows the chefs to experiment with new menu items, but I have been left missing past items. When I returned for the third time for my favorite hummus, I found that it was discontinued for a nice, but less tasty green hummus (which leaned more into an avocado flavor than traditional hummus flavor). Overall, if you'd like to return to Saint and Second, you should expect some changes to menu items every few months and plan accordingly. One appetizer I'd recommend is the tuna on crispy rice. This is a consistent item with great flavors that trump other tuna crispy rice dishes I've had at other restaurants. The amount of fish on this item is generous. If you are celebrating your birthday here like I did, they offer a delcious smores-flavored dessert. However, this dessert is not complimentary, and we were charged without the server informing us of the dessert's price. Overall, in terms of food, this restaurant offers a fresh array of menu items. I believe the server told us that their kitchen is a scratch kitchen, which contributes to the great quality of the food.

Cool, they can make it. what I got was a cup of coffee in a to go cup (even though I was dining in) with milk and a foam, so really what I got was a flat white. the other coffee ordered was a latte which was pretty standard I ordered the chicken sandwich ($12) which comes on a biscuit and a side of fruit, to round it out I also ordered the yogurt bowl which is yogurt and granola. When the sandwich came out it looked rather disappointing. The biscuit itself is small, probably the size of a Pillsbury dough biscuit, and the chicken wasn't much bigger. nothing else on it like a green, coleslaw, sauce, etc. just these two items. However, it did come with a side of a honey butter. the side of fruit was about 8 pieces split between pineapple, melon, and grapes. the whole sandwich was dry, which can be expected from a biscuit, but this was just too dry for me. the yogurt bowl($8) came in a small bowl that had a large flaring, basically the entire dish was large but the bowl portion was small. I eat yogurt everyday and the amount you get is probably half the size of a standard serving of yogurt (170g) and it was sparsely sprinkled with granola. my partner ordered a chorizo burrito ($15) and while she raved about the flavor the size of it was laughable, especially considering there are plenty of spots in LB that serve double or even triple the size of this burrito at or near the same price lastly, and the most disappointing of all, was the cinnamon roll($8). they were on display at the register and figured yeah I want one of those and instead of giving it to me right then and there it was brought with the rest of the food but it was not warmed up, which made me question why I waited for it. It was rool temp, burnt, and hard. I do want to try other items but the price you pay for what you get, especially considering this experience I had, is off putting.
